Ducane Simmons just won the biggest case of his career. Ready to celebrate, he books a trip to Infinity Island, looking forward to a few days away from the courtroom, the expectations, and everyone who wants a piece of him. What he doesn't expect is for the flight attendant assigned to his suite to be the one woman he never stopped loving.
Seven years ago, Skye Campbell walked away believing she was protecting the man she loved. Since then, she's built a career she loves, a life she's proud of, and become very good at carrying the weight of a decision nobody else understands.
One unexpected reunion forces them to confront everything they left behind. The years. The unanswered questions. The truth. And a love that never stopped asking for another chance. They were always on the itinerary. Life just delayed the flight.
I'm Author C. Monet of Clarksville TN. I write transparent creative romance with a splash of urban. My stories feature, smart, witty boss women and swoon-worthy, loving, flawed men all looking for one thing..... LOVE. Yes, you guessed it I write about love. My novels usually center around instalove, opposites attract, and redemptive love. However, I've been known to come up with love that cant be placed in a box. All in all, love is the motive no matter how it's reached. My books will leave you full; full of love, gems, and pieces of me.
Once life started to happen for and around me I grabbed the pen and decided to unmute my truth. I pen love unfiltered and undefined because rules can’t exist with creativity. The poetry in my words takes you to a place filled with dreams and aspirations of love and how it heals the soul.
I personally don’t feel as if there was sufficient emotional connection built for me to give a damn about the reunion, the multiple betrayals, or any of it. Around 50 or so pages I figured out the twist and my experience went down from there. The authors note said they both would get you mad but no just Skye. I can’t wrap my brain around keeping a kid away but everyone including that kid knows, INCLUDING the mfer that we’re suppose to believe was big baddie enough to run this girl away. Ruben’s characterization never gave that. I do think if the book was longer and we got actual actions behind the words maybe his impact would be felt. Everything was just so conveniently wrapped up that the conflicts were so surface level. Reuben, non issue. Bianca, non issue. A least 5 people keeping a secret over bullshit, non issue.
C. Monet, what a good read. Showing us just how easy it can be to lose ourselves trying to please folk we think we need to honor. It's a sad thing when folk think you are beneath them. I love the fact that Dena stood up for her self finally. How Skye, chose herself even in fear. Ducane had to realize he was a great man and didn't owe anyone that meant him harm. The love he amd Skye was able to have and to grow with such a wonderful family did my heart good. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Y’all! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved this book! How it started, how it unfolded and how it ended - CHEF’S KISS! Charlotte (that’s what I call her) Monet, you put all ten of your little piggly wigglies in this book, ma’am! I finished this book in one sitting in 5 hours (I had to take breaks because I was screaming, pacing, and panicking) because I just had to know how it ended! I was not disappointed and you won’t be either!
From the first page, this book had me completely locked in. I kept telling myself, "One more chapter," and before I knew it, I was at the end.
Ducane... whew. That's a man. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. He made mistakes, let outside voices influence him, and paid the price for it. But when it came to Skye and Cadence, there was never a doubt about where his heart belonged.
What I appreciated most was that this story didn't paint one person as the villain. Skye and Ducane both made choices they had to live with, and I respected the way they owned their part. Watching them find their way back to each other felt earned, which made their second chance that much sweeter.
And baby... somebody needs to have a long conversation with Ducane's daddy because I was over him from the moment he opened his mouth.
Little Cadence completely stole my heart. She was the perfect reminder of what was at stake and added so much warmth to an already beautiful story.
C. Monet has a gift for writing MMCs who love with intention, and Ducane is another one I'll be thinking about for a long time. This book left me full, and that's exactly what I want from a romance.
⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ 4.5 Stars This second-chance romance had me hooked from takeoff to landing. ✈️💕 Six years after walking away, Skye and Ducane are forced back into each other's lives when fate seats them on the same flight. What follows is an emotional reunion filled with unresolved hurt, shocking revelations, and a whole lot of chemistry. Ducane's overbearing, insufferable father played a major role in tearing them apart, but one overheard conversation changed the course of Skye's life forever. Now the truth comes out... not only did Skye keep their child a secret, but readers also discover they were secretly married all those years ago. 😱 The angst, tension, and emotional payoff kept me turning the pages. While I wanted a little more communication between the characters, I couldn't stop rooting for them to find their way back to each other. If you love: 💍 Secret marriage 👶 Secret child ❤️ Second-chance romance 🔥 Emotional tension 👨👩👧 Family drama ✈️ Unexpected reunion ...this one deserves a spot on your TBR.

this book was soooo good. Skye and Ducane’s love story was so perfectly imperfect! they met in college and quickly fell in love. but little do they know that love alone would not be enough to stand the test of those (or should i say the one) who did not want to see them happy. Ducane’s selfish ass daddy hated in love they were and tried his best to separate them. and Ducane’s unfortunately let him get into his head. but one fateful day they were reunited because Skye happened to be Ducane’s flight attendant. Ducane immediately wanted them to get back together bc he never stopped loving her. but Skye had been sitting on a secret for 6 years. a secret that hurt Ducane to his core when he found out. at the end of it all they found their way back to each other. they both contributed to their downfall but they owned up to it and worked to better themselves for themselves and each other. i legit could not put the book down. i loved it. it was not too fast paced nor was it a slow burn either. i loved everything about it!
Oooh, Ducane and Skye were meant to be together. Definitely team Ducane and Skye! I loved those two. They were young and in love and the time apart only intensified their love and allowed them to navigate a new journey and beginning, on their own terms. They had some obstacles to move. Eyes and hearts had to be opened to receive the newness.
The secret bomb shells dropped was jaw dropping! I didn't see that coming, Periodt. I totally was in agreement with Skye and her actions. I believe this made them stronger. I had a srong dislike for his father and Bianca. His father Reuben and Bianca were awful human beings and deserved more than Ducane saw fit to shell out.
This was a thorough read from start to finish. Their meeting started out as a friendship that eventually turned into an unforgettable love
Skye and Ducane's relationship was strained because he had an overbearing father who wanted to control every aspect of his life. She made the tough decision of ending the relationship so he wouldn't have to chose between her and his family. Years later they accidentally ran into each other again. Ducane was excited and wanted a chance to fix what tore them apart. Skye was scared of being hurt again and the secret she held from him for years. They spent a week together trying to rekindle their relationship to see if thing's could work between them. Skye's secret coming out made things complicated for them. Ducane came to realization during that time on why the information was withheld from him and what he needed to do to prove his family was worth fighting for.
Ducane, Ducane, Ducane, now that is a man. This story was so good. I like how both knew that each was equally responsible for what happened. There wasn't a straight villain, they both suffered and let go of each other. I think what Skye did made sense for her and what she believed and I like that she said she didn't regret it, but also that she actually made space for him in their child's life, but at the same time felt bad for Ducane and understood his feelings, I was happy he took the time to navigate his feelings without being an ass, and. Both loss important time, but def came out stronger for it, truly a 2nd chance worth having. Ruben deserves to have his ass beat (such a garbage parent); I will leave it at that. Cadence was too cute 😍
I was tuned in from the very first page and I didn’t stop until I was finished. The way C. Monet writes a MMC is swoon worthy, even when they have flaws. Because everyone has a flaw. Sugar Cane aka Ducane was a man’s man. He let his daddy get in his ear and made him some important things. But when it came to Skye and Cady, he didn’t play about them. Little Cadence was just the sweetest little girl. Skye and Ducane’s journey had some rough patches, and for a second I wasn’t sure how they would get through it. Their love and dedication to each other made it all worth it. That father 🙄didn’t suffer enough. He was a trash person. This book is easily in my top 5 of favorite books.
I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Skye and Ducane had a whirlwind love in college that ended because they didn’t do enough to protect it from outsiders but their paths crossed again years later and they were able to get it right. I loved that they both were grown enough to acknowledge where they each dropped the ball as well as acknowledging how letting an outside force caused them to lose so many years and time apart. I loved that they sat in their feelings and worked together to make things better so they could fully love each other out loud.
If you’re a fan of second chance romance and rekindling, this is a great read.
Ducane and Skye’s love story was truly a journey. ❤️ Their story had everything—love, secrets, heartbreak, family, friendship, and betrayal. 💔🤝 I liked that both main characters shared responsibility for their breakup, even though Ducane’s controlling father was the catalyst behind it all.
Once they reunited, it didn’t take long for the love between them to reignite. 🥹💕 Even then, they still had to fight to stay strong as long-buried truths came to light. I really enjoyed this second-chance romance and couldn’t put it down until I finished! 📚✨
LOVED THIS !!! A second chance romance that had me going through some motions ! Spot & Sugar Cane really had some tricks up their sleeves with this on. I honestly thought I had it all figured out until a bomb was dropped, and then I was just understanding each side with the views. LOVED the ending of this too because I was HOPING a few things happened, and they did which I was so excited. Like every emotions I went through was worth it & it came full circle! C. Monet really does not disappoint me when on LoverGirl Lane🩷
C. Monet will FOREVER bring the kind of love story that will you feeling full, warm, and feeling like the last MMC she wrote is your favorite. She has an amazing way of writing leading male characters who love their ladies DOWN. Cane was no different. He and Skye had me hooked from the day he laid eyes on her in that room! Their journey took me through it, but when I tell you it was worth it…believe me!!! This was a dope read and I wish I could read it again for the first time. Looking forward to the last book in this series! The first two came through!!
I loved this story. I have read a lot of books but this one is very memorable. This second chance romance took me through it. Rueben needed help. I wanted him to get more than a punch and fired. Like how can you do your child like that. I would for Dena to get her second chance at love. So glad Skye and Ducane found their way back to each other. I get why Skye did what she did cuz Rueben probably would have done something bad. He cared about nothing but reputation no matter who it hurts.
Great read but I mean C. Monet knows how to put out those amazing reads like no other. Skye and Ducane met in college and things hit off from there BUT Ducane’s father was spiteful man that messed it up for the 2 of them. Until years later, both far more into adulthood, rekindled their young love on Skye’s flight. The time on the island showed they still loved one another BUT once again another curve ball was thrown into the mix that should have broke them (really Ducane) but this time neither ran…It’s worth the read!
Ducane played my girl Skye. There is no way you made her all these promises for years and never truly protected her. I would have done what Skye and their mutual friends did as well. In more ways than one he was just like his father.
This was a second chance romance where he would have had to work a little harder, my love be damned. Don't get me wrong this was a nice steamy book but Skye gave in too fast.
Ok so boom. This second chance romance had me sitting up reading, bun sloppy and leaning to the side. While this book is not messy, Ducane’s daddy can definitely catch these hands. Both Skye and Ducane made some decisions they thought best at the time. It went left but by the end they ended up back right.
Family tore them apart, but real love never stays away for too long. Ducane had it all, but not his father’s approval. Skye left to help, but it really didn’t. They happened to come across each other 7 years later after accomplishing their dreams. They picked up where they left off and I love that for them. Great read!!!
This was a good read! It was hard to be mad at Skye because as hurtful as her decision was I totally understood it and agreed with it. I hate that Cane couldn’t see what everyone else saw in his father and I hate that his mother didn’t use her voice when it really counted. I don’t want to give nothing away. But this was good y’all!
Great read page after page! I’m trying to figure out what was really wrong with Ruben. Who hurt him cause you got issues man. Little success and being allowed in a circle of folks faking it to make it is crazy work but any who… some people will never figure out what really important love, happiness, peace💕
This was done really well, although I think the amount of time the baby was kept a secret was way too long. Im glad they were able to get through it and get their happily ever after.
Secret baby is my favorite trope. The way this was done was tasteful. Honestly I never thought Skye was wrong because everyone saw the truth but Duncane. Their love story was beautiful and a show that love isn’t always enough.
This was a beautiful, passionate and tragic love story I couldn't get enough of. The journey Ducane and Skye went on in this book really took me there emotionally. A must read!
I love a good second-chance romance. I hate that it took so long for them to reconnect, but Ducane was not coming off Skye for a second time. Skye should have been more upfront with Ducane, but they worked it out.
What a love. This story was one of the EST second chance at love I have read. Skye and Duncan were made to love each other.. Who gets married and keeps it a secret for 7 years? please keep doing the damn thing about love.
