Glittering Shadows

“Far beyond this realm, there is a place, where there is a valley of roses, a river of peace, a mountain of serenity, an ocean of hope, and air, echoing my words of perpetual love - a world of my dreams, where it is just you and me; a world where the days are bright with positivity, and nights are filled with festivity; a world where even pain has love; a world where shadows glitter.”

Glittering Shadows, is not just a book. It is the beat of a heart - a heart full of endless and ageless love. It is a book that celebrates love, values little things of life and nurtures our soul. It is a book of word art where imagination and love get married in bliss. The poems in this book will take you on a virtual tour to the world of the author, where he weaves with his words, the different facets and shades of love.

“Words have power” – they say, and a poet has his words as a weapon; a weapon to fight against injustice. Glittering Shadows has the voice of protest against the misogynist attitude of our society and the nature of injustice we do to our women, who is a mother, a sister, a wife and a daughter. In some of the poems, the author has given a poetic expression on womanhood and a voice of protest against the atrocities on our women.

This book is for everybody who is in love or was once. One can easily relate oneself with the poems in the book and its words would definitely touch your heart.

I am a Software Developer by profession, working with Makemytrip India Pvt. Ltd. Hailing from a small city of Bokaro in Jharkhand, I did my schooling from the reputed institution of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Purulia (West Bengal) and graduated in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Silchar (Assam).

Writing is my passion, and after day's hard work, I like to recline on my couch and create my own world of love and dreams architected by my imagination and engineered by my words. I am a die-hard romantic, as is my debut book of poetry. I believe that love is what keeps us sensitive, caring, thoughtful and makes us more human. I am also an aspiring novelist and I love to discover the untold stories in everything that I come across.

Being an avid traveler, I take out my bike and race away to the hills and mountains every month. Travelling gives me peace, adventure and food for thoughts and I love to express them in the form of poetry.

It has no form-no shape- no definite identity.
But still it has a specific identity- because it differs from person to person.
It does not have any death-it does not have any decay-it does know all.
When you like at the night sky-your mind wings to fly thousands of light years away- away from the milky way- away from galaxies-to the kingdom where zillions of stars sparkle like diamonds.
Are you really up there to the kingdom of stars?
But your wish has the speed to beat light- beat anything-to propel your shadow to the kingdom where there is no death- no decay!
In the words of the Gita
na jayate mriyate va kadacin
nayam bhutva bhavita va na bhuyah
ajo nityah sasvato 'yam purano
na hanyate hanyamane sarire
(For the soul there is never birth nor death. Nor, having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain.)
So a point comes where philosophy and imagination coalesces- where there is everything ‘ satyam ,shivam ,sundaram’.

Received the copy of ‘Glittering Shadows’ as part of Goodreads giveaways. Thanks to Goodreads and the writer.

In in the words of the writer “Time will fly by and life will move on, until forever.
What we find and what we keep, will always stay.
Deep inside our hearts, like an age old museum.
Like the precious words in a book from yesterday.”

This book is nice collection of poetry. The poems have a natural flow of thought; seems effortless. The poetry is divided in three sections – 1) Love and be Loved 2) Life and Reflection 3) Womanhood and her crisis. I enjoyed particularly reading - She is Daddy’s Girl and Silence can be heard.

I give it 3.5/5 rating. Those interested in poetry will enjoy this collection.

The fruitful and varied poems in the poetry collection are full of visionary power and musical flow of style. We are quite impressed by remarkably sweet lyrical moments in these poems. We find sonorous echo of the poet’s own soul in this poetry collection. There is undoubtedly a very impressive lucidity of style in these poems.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I'm probably not the right person to be reviewing this, as I'm not a big reader of poetry. However, those who do enjoy reading poetry are bound to enjoy this collection. I can appreciate the beauty of the poems, but they were not enough to convert me into a big fan of poetry.

This is the first review of a Poetry book on this site. So, I will try my best to give it justice.

Reading these poetries took me to a place where all is nice and sweet. The poems are written in a simple language, yet reading them forms images in your mind and makes you feel the emotions the poet has written about.

Love and loneliness are emotions that rarely few have been able to escape. Manish does an exceptional job painting such emotions.
