Samara McKinley hasn’t even had time to adjust to being a shape shifter when her werewolf gene makes things even more complicated. Samara knew when she decided to become an Ima that there would be consequences. Things with her friends and family become tenser, and the dynamics of the Ima pack are changed forever. To top it all off, Jason Masterson wants to claim her life. Little does he know, she’s out for his, too.
First off we have Samara, who ends up being Alpha after she in initiated into the Ima pack. Aparently she cant think for herself or even attempt at being an Alpha because she lets her mate do all the talking and call all the shots. Is it really a wonder why your pack dont respect you? Really?
A while later she does a little better but really she is just weak, and I hate weak female leads. Ugh. Slowly her pack starts to respect her after some smooth talking on her part. The bad guy Jason kills and innocent child, and rather than everyone getting together to take him out, the adult Ima pack put the task of taking Jason out onto the young Ima pack. Okay whatever. Stupid but okay. They have a plan, okie dokey.
There is so much inner dialogue, and thoughts, and this girl talking inside her own head that I was getting really bored and annoyed and found it hard to finish the book. Take this scene for example. She goes to chase after bad wolf Jason, and she ends up running in front of a car on the highway. She sees the headlighs and freezes, she dont know what to do. *insert* 3 pages of thoughts racing through her head while she considers her death, and her love life, and her family and blah blah blah.
We were just getting to the best part, the big fight scene. What we had been building up to the entire book, and boom -the end. You dont have to end your books with some big cliffhanger just to get people to read the next book in the series. Why spend the whole book building up to this one moment just to end it before it even happens. This makes me not want to read the next book because there is never any closure.
What I did find good about this book was that I did start feeling a little more connected to the characters, something that I didnt have with the last book. I want to read the next book in this series, but I also really dont want to since the author keeps ending her books like this. It may be a series, but we have to have some form of closure form book to book, especially if you have built up a certain moment the whole book.
The next step into Howl was pretty good as well. You could see the characters progress in their lives as werewolves, especially Samara.
Samara started to finally adjust to her live as a werewolf. She's learning how to control her shifting and urges. She has also made the major decision on which pack she wanted to belong in. During her imitation some things got complicated. Instead of Colby being the Alpha, she became the Alpha. In fact, she became the first female Alpha. Many of her pack members had to come to terms with her being the Alpha in a male dominate life style. Chris was having the hardest time adjusting to this change.
Even with issues in her own pack, Samara had to deal with other packs and their Alphas closing in on her. They all want something from her. Mostly, they want her dead.
I found the lesson for Samara somewhat childish. It's also underdeveloped and rather brief, particularly compared to other stories I've read. The fact that Samara mastered it so effortlessly felt unrealistic. I would have preferred to see her facing more challenges and experiencing difficulty.
Furthermore, the huge tattoo Samara acquired with its potential to draw unwanted attention was highlighted earlier during the dress shopping but then never addressed again, even when Samara wore the dress to the prom.
The inconsistent use of names was also confusing, leading me to temporarily believe I was reading about another character.
What I liked was the anticipation of seeing her father's and best friend's reactions, but that also would have to wait until the next book. Overall, it was not a satisfying and engaging read.
Blood Moon (Howl Series Book 2) ❤️🔥❤️🔥 absolutely loved this book!! I really wish books like this had been available when I were younger. The story line is engrossing and the characters are well developed. I can't wait to start reading the next book in the series! This book 📕 was an incredible cliff-hanger that leaves you begging for more. Definitely recommend this series and the two sisters..
Surprised on this one, Samara alpha? Wow she's gonna be great. I just feel it. Was so funny at the end her watching her life flash before her eyes and Luke saying they don't die from a car accident, lol I laughed. But it's about to get better and a little worse if she doesn't kill James because of Emma
Sam chose which pack she will belong to ,but that leads to all sorts of problems. Seems as everyone is angry at her and wants her to join them or die Talk about being in a difficult position A great read I can't wait to read more 🥰🥰
She was just kind a lame alpha. Also hate love triangles or possible love triangles with no resolution. No one seemed to have personalities other than the angry ones. It felt like she was all thoughts “what if this” all the time
What I liked: -Samara. She grew on me in this book, even though I still really hate her choice and think she was incredibly stupid about it. Choosing your almost-boyfriend over your brother and best friend is not cool and never will be. But Samara definitely matured over the course of this book, and she really stepped up into her intended role. It was nice to see a girl with a backbone, and towards the end, I realized that she was a little bit of a badass. Samara had a couple of eye-roll inducing moments, but she had way more awesome moments. I can’t wait to read more about her. -Writing style. The writing in this series is better than in the Briar Creek series. It flowed more effortlessly, and it was more composed and emotional. I felt like I could actually picture the emotions these characters were going through, and the writing just drew me right into the story. There were a couple of missing words or typos, but with any self-published story, that’s to be expected and I’m more than used to it at this point. -Action. The last couple of chapters in the book were full of action and suspense and drama. It was a great way to the end the book—with a slight cliffhanger—and it immediately drew me into the next book in the series. The action scenes in this book were very well written, and I almost felt like I was there with Samara’s pack as they fought. Some of the other parts were a little slow and boring, but it was all leading up to that moment, and I wasn’t disappointed at all.
What I disliked: -Training. When Samara mentioned wanting to learn from her pack mates, I was hoping to get some really awesome and detailed training scenes. Unfortunately, what could have been the best part of the book ended up being underwritten and overlooked. It would have been awesome to see Samara struggling to adapt to her newfound powers, but instead it seemed like she just mastered everything right away and on the first try, and it was a little boring. -Tiny inconsistency? When Samara and Emma were trying on dresses, I was under the impression that Samara’s tattoo was going to show and she was worried about having to explain it to everyone. But when she wears that dress later, nobody seems to see the giant tattoo on her back, even Emma—who was helping her do her hair and makeup and stuff before the dance. Wouldn’t she have seen it? Or did I just miss her finding a way to cover it?
Overall, I loved this book. It was pretty awesome, and I am so glad I decided to keep reading this series. I think this series has a more stable heroine, better writing, and more action, drama, and real-life consequences. I would recommend this book to any fans of werewolves or the supernatural. 5.0
Another 2.5 for me. After reading the first book, with the way it ended i felt compulsive to read what happened in the next book. Again, not a bad read, some characters keep getting on my nerves, but what can i say they are teenagers. Meanwhile, i can only hope the characters will mature.
Blood Moon is the second book of the Howl series. Book One ends rather abruptly with the reader unsure of which character died. So natually I couldn't wait to get my hands on this continuation of the story. Samara has chosen to be on the Ima pack and while going through initiation to the pack ***Spoiler Alert***
she becomes Alpha. Colby was apparently a placeholder as shown by his not so intricate tatoo. Samara however gets paw prints in blue up and down her back. Throughout this story she has to deal with hard feelings on her own pack about the change in alpha, Jason and the Vyka pack wanting to kill her, and being a suspect of murder.
I love all the wolves of the Ima pack and have a book crush on Luke. I am such a sucker for soulmates and the mindspeak. The Ima's must train Sam to be a fighter and better Alpha. While some of the lessons seemed silly, I enjoyed getting to know each of the member of the pack. As Sam realises her own power, Jason's brother wants to become Ima giving them more numbers. It also becomes very apparent that Samara will have kill Jason who is not only using black magic but kills an innocent girl. Thank goodness this book didn't end quite as abruptly but I am still waiting eagerly for the next installment.
Highly recommended for werewolf romance lovers. It is very nice to see a girl in an authoritative roll for a change.
After reading Howl(Book 1) I read Blood Moon Book 2 in the series.Since I was beginning to get used to the writing of the authors what bothered me in book 1 was just a small annoyance that I was able to overlook to enjoy the book.In This story Samara has to figure out which wolf pack she wants to be in and with that choice loses friendships and family,Luke and Samara are still going strong.
What I feel could use some work is Luke and Samara's chemistry..perhaps I have read to many werewolf books but I am used to this magnetic attraction..the I cant keep my hands off you type..which Luke and Samara lack.My other disappointment with this book is during the whole book there is a build up to a huge fight. They are in the middle of the fight something happens and the book ends in a cliffhanger.I personally was so disappointed..its like you have this huge build up and then the book just ends.I was quite disappointed at some point the book needed to have this fight and it never did.
I would still recommend reading it..its .99 on amazon.I would read book one first..in fact you need to to understand book 2.
I bought this because it was $2.99 for all 4 books on my Kindle. It looked like a good series. Which don't get me wrong I liked the story line and the Characters. It's a bit repitive. I skimed most of it becuase they would repeat or say the samething they said at one time in the book. They did this a lot so I skimed through all 4 books. Around the 3rd book is when it got interesting for me. But almost all these books were pretty predictiable. There needs to be some corrcetion in spelling and grammer. Like they will say " do you want to be on my pack?" It should be "do you want to be in my pack?" They kept using on instead of in when saying stuff about being in the pack this got annoying. These actually could of been made into 2 big books or heck even one big book.
I liked this book better than the first one. It's a quick read and entertaining. I have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of Luke. He only liked Sam a little until they became mates and now He is falling in love w/her. That rubs me the wrong way for some reason. I do like Declan though. He has always loved her but unfortunately is on the wrong pack. Here is what I hope happens by the end of the series: I would like Sam to kill Jason, become the alpha of both packs and be mated to Declan again. We shall see what happens. I am looking forward to it.
This book is so full of action,I could not stop reading it till I was finished. It isn't every day a young girl becomes a werewolf and is the alpha of her pack. Her parents don't even know she is a werewolf. Her grandfather was a powerful Alpha and she inherited all her powers from him.Her brother is a werewolf too,but he went with a different pack. The fur flies.Read the first book Becker you read this one it will explain everything.
It was OK. Since I was reading the series continuously. Samara becomes the alpha of her pack. It makes her more of a target now to the other packs. She lost two important people of her life. Still she fits in her new pack. Colby s dad seems taking too much interest on Sam. She has to grow stronger to face her enemies even if they were her family once.
The next step into Howl was pretty good as well. You could see the characters progress in their lives as werewolves, especially Samara. This series will have some interesting twist and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat keeping you reading the book until the last word has been read.
2nd book in the series and leaves you hanging at the end and wanting for more. In this book she is an alpha and has all sorts problems that she runs into, choosing Ima wasn't the easiest descion it definately came with a lot more drama.
I picked this book up not realizing it was the second in a series, but I had no trouble following the story and did not feel lost regarding things that happened in the first book. I can not wait for the next one to come out, it will go to the top of my to-read list!!
This 2nd book in the series was as amazing as the first in series. Samara has trouble heading her way in the form of Jason. As she has to lose a couple of people in her life to Luke the person who helps adjust to being a wolf. This is awesome read.
This is a really great series. You have lost of teenagers going through a lot of changes as they adjust to being werewolves, finding out you have a mate and what it means, the truth about how some of your family died. Its a page turner.
This book was a lot better than the first one. Getting through the setup is tough. I continue to love the characters and I felt Samara's pain as the choices she made effected her and all around her.
Way better than the first, definitely five star worthy. The main character was way more mature and willing to do what was necessary, there was some real action, and the plot moved forward. The writing also improved from the first book.
I might have to start calling this series my guilty pleasure. Actually scrap that, I refuse to feel guilty. Just like the first one though, it ends on a huge cliffhanger. Good job I bought the 1-4 boxset!
i really enjoyed this book. I hate cliffhangers though, only because im impatient. This book has a huge cliffhanger. Needless to say I cant wait for book 3.
