Harland County #5

Her Healing Cowboy: Jace

Rate this book
Harland County Series/Book 5: Jace

Holly’s stay in Harland County Texas is limited. She’s only there to help run her uncle’s ice cream business while he recuperates from an operation. Her home is in Colorado. Her life is in Denver. Her dream job is in Denver but won’t be if she doesn’t get back before her leave of absence runs out. Everybody knows this, but apparently her heart and body didn’t get the memo because they spark to life whenever her uncle’s smoking, hot doctor is around. But she’s been burned by one before and is definitely not interested. Much.

Doctor Jace Turner has one goal: Join Doctors Without Borders. Ever since his father was in a car accident and became HIV Positive from a blood transfusion, Jace set his sights on the organization and plans to join, once his contract is up with the Texas National Guard. The last thing he needs is the crazy attraction he feels toward the beauty from Colorado.
The cowboy isn’t looking for a relationship. She isn’t staying. Perfect set up for a fling. What harm could there be?

Hi there. Thank you for checking out my profile.

It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.

Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.

With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…

Welcome back to Harland County. Her Healing Cowboy brings us back and introduces us to two great new characters - Holly and Jace. While this is definitely Holly and Jace's story, I really enjoyed how other characters from previous Harland County books make appearances - its nice to see how they're doing! Her Healing Cowboy is a quick read. The dialog flows smoothly and the story is easy to follow. The author tells a fun story of two people who both see their relationship as short-term, and both find themselves shocked when they feel otherwise. Both characters are strong characters and extremely committed to their family obligations and that makes them well suited for each other.

There is a good balance of intimacy, seriousness, and laughter in Her Healing Cowboy. I liked that Jace and Holly were "adults" - their actions were mature and the language patterns and dialog were mature. The sex scenes are definitely explicit but I didn't feel they overwhelmed the story. And I found myself laughing out loud at times. Without giving away too much, can I just say "big, strong cowboy with sympathy symptoms" - enough said! In general, the book was well written and did a good job of conveying the characters thoughts and feelings through dialog and prose. One of my favorite passages in the book is:
"He only knew he liked looking at her, liked touching her, liked being with her. She made him feel good. Happy. And it had been so long since he'd been happy"

This is a nice romantic story of two people who start a "casual" relationship with an end date and both realize they want more. Each struggles with transitioning their relationship and what may have to happen in order for each of them to pursue their dreams - and each other. How they stop - and start again - is a surprising but delightful story twist, and the ultimate solution which enables them to have their "happily ever after" made my heart swell. What a neat way to end - or begin - Jace's and Holly's story.

Welcome back to Harland County, I never tire of going back, because it means that I not only to get to meet new people, I also get to catch up with the old gang. This is the story of Jace Raylon Turner aka Dr. Hottie, and Holly Phillips. Jace has a lot of irons in the fire, not only is he a doctor, and a guardsman, but he does weekly chores at his mothers farm, to keep his sister, who is recuperating from an accident, from doing them. Holly lives in Denver, Colorado, at least that is where her home, her job, and her brother are at. But Holly who has a heart as big as Texas, has come to Harland County, to run her uncle's Ice Cream business, until he is well enough from surgery to come back to work. Holly also has a lot on her plate, between work, helping her mother with bills, and seeing that her brother has everything he needs while he finishes college. The last thing Jace or Holly has time for is a relationship, but the chemistry between the two, is hard to ignore, but they both give it their best shot. But since he is joining Doctors Without Borders and she will be going back to Denver soon, what could it hurt, to see where this attraction goes?
If you love a good romance with cowboys, military men, sassy females, family, fun, laughter, a little suspense and a whole lot of love, then this series is definitely for you, and I highly recommend this book. And poor Connor, he had me in stitches several times in this one. Be forewarned, you will get attached to the good folks in Harland County, I know I did.

I just can't get enough of Donna Michaels stories!!!!! Her Healing Cowboy is the fifth book in the series Harland County. Jace Turner is a doctor and in the Texas National Guard and is getting really to quite and sign on with the DWB ( Doctors Without Borders). It has always been his dream to help people in different countries so he was excited about it. Until he met Holly Phillips.
Holly Phillips was working for her uncle so he could have his hip replaced. She had taken a leave of absence from her work in Colorado. She love living in Colorado with the snow and skiing. She had just gotten a promotion and she need the money to help support her brother and her mother.
They both noted a strong attachment toward each other and grew closed to one another. Holly ended up losing her job and her uncle offered to let her take over his shop so he could semi retire. Which she accepted after talking with her family. When she came back her and Jace were on again. When she heard him talking about his plans and not knowing if he was going to do them or not she decided it was best to leave him.
Can she leave him knowing she was breaking his heart and hers? Can they make it work? This is a must read!!!!! I cried and laughed with the characters. Everyone will enjoys reading this book!!!!!!!

'Her Healing Cowboy' (Harland County Book 5) by Donna Michaels is a fantastic read. This is the story of Jace Turner and Holly Phillips. Oh my! This book made me crack up laughing, it's smoking hot and also made me tear up several times. I loved reading about Jace and Holly. It was great to catch up with Cole, Jordan, Connor, Kerri, Kade, Brandi, Kevin, Shayla, Caitlin, and the rest of Harland County. I enjoyed getting to know the other guys in the Guard. And I really hope we'll be getting to read their stories in the future! This is a excellent addition to the Harland County Series. Highly recommend all of Donna Michaels work to all fans of romance, cowboys, and military. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Wonderful cowboy romance with sweet Holly and Dr. Jace !!! Holly has come home to help her injured uncle with his business. Dr. Jace is still in the Guard, and waiting to go to Doctors Without Borders. He's dreamed of helping the sick around the world. Holly does well running the business, and has a job to go back to, but her real love, photography has always taken a back burner, so to speak. Holly and Jace are attracted to one another, and decise to be friends with benefits, but it grows into more. Deep characters, interesting plots, and super hot sex make these stories worthwhile.
Highly recommend. ENJOY !!!

Thanks Donna Michaels for a very unproductive day. I was supposed to feed the goats, saw my reader and thought just one more chapter. I was supposed to weed, saw the reader and thought just one more chapter. That was the pattern for the day until the end of the story. Reading about Jace and Holly was like being with family. Reading the book was like going home. Actually it was better than going home. Support, love, kindness without the evil was a great pick me up that I needed. Excited to know that more books are coming including the spin-off series, Citizen Soldiers.

Limited Angst

I love a book that is does not have a river of angst running through it. Holly and Jade really click. They had great chemistry and genuinely cared about what the other person needed. Holly did have to overcome her aversion to doctors first.

I love the Harland County books because you get to revisit the people from previous books. Makes you want to go back to the beginning and re-read.

This book was funny. Connor with his pregnancy cravings and sympathy sickness was too much. A book full of love, loyalty, family support, fun, and sexiness. Enjoy!

Great book as always

Donna Michaels always tells a story in a way that makes you feel like you are there cheering them on and calling them names when they do something dumb. This is one more in a great series.

Most touching one yet

I love the family connection felt by everyone in these books even if they're not related. The sassiness of the women and the tough but soft hearted men and their love, make for touching moments and lots of happy and sad tears. I can't wait to read the rest.
