Sherlock Holmes: The Retired Detective

Rate this book
A look at Sherlock Holmes in his retirement years as a reporter is curious about the whisperings at the University of a mysterious man rumored to be exploring and examining corpses in the dead of night. If it isn’t related to a crime, what could he possibly be searching for? The Retired Detective hints as that. The lead story is joined by a shorter tale by the same creative team as Sherlock Holmes is pulled into solving a maze set up by Lewis Carroll and the maze master, Mr. Townsend. Also included is one of Doyle’s unabridged classic tales, A Case of Identity, illustrated also by Wayne Reid.

Gary Reed's career-long love for Sherlock Holmes is as evident in this short book as it was in Honour Among Punks. It's a simple story, and reminds me of one of the "extra" stories in Reed's Baker Street series. It makes me wish we could have that old classic back again.

Weird. Great artwork, but the initial story is really weak and nothing really to it. The ending piece is pretty fun, but not really redemptive.
