A curious vet + a wounded werewolf + some tender loving care = one sexy, sizzling story
For vet Maddy Petersen, there's no better way to spend her Friday night than taking care of an injured animal. When she gets a call to pick up a wounded, feral dog, she's not sure what surprises her more: that it's actually a wolf, or how friendly it is once it sees her. Actually, the biggest surprise might just be the hunky, naked guy it turns into...
Konrad Stone was looking for his mate so he could become Alpha for the wolf shifters in his hometown. He'll be damned if one of his useless cousins takes the position instead. Meeting Maddy is a dream come true - although he never imagined it would involve being led around on a catchpole.
Neither of them can deny the instant, mutual passion between them, and Konrad can't wait to spend the rest of his life with her in his hometown. But can he convince Maddy that love at first sight is real? This is a standalone werewolf romance. No cliffhangers!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
Konrad and a couple of his cousins leave their homes in search of their mates. In order to try and claim the alpha spot and be the leader, they have to have a mate and bring her back to live there. But before he can actually find his mate, another wolf attacked him and left him injured. Thinking that the best thing to do was to hold up somewhere overnight and heal, he hides out in a shed. But the owners freak out and call the vet to come get him since they can see he's bleeding.
As soon as Maddy is there to deal with the stray (dog), Konrad knows that she is his mate and acts like the love sick wolf he is. He lets her put a catchpole around his neck, take him back to the vet clinic and clean him up and then lays on her rug at the foot of her bed.
This story was so cute. I really liked how goofy Konrad is when he finally comes close to her in his wolf form and just goes along with whatever she wants him to do. It's not until he turns back into a human that things get a little crazy. I mean, telling her and having her believe that he's a wolf shifter and she's his mate right away would probably be a little much for any human to digest. But it was a really quick, cute novella and I had a good time with this book.
Not a big fan of this one :( The beginning was cute but the rest of it fell flat and there definitely should have been a couple more chapters at the end instead of jumping to the epilogue.
I read this book in one hour, maybe two at most. This was a very quick read for me. I liked the story, and it started out great. But then it felt like I stepped on a fast going train which wouldn’t slow down. This is a story with great potential, but not going deep. Every event is played out very fast forward and with little to no emotional expresses.
To mention an example: she knows the guy for a few hours, the ranger comes knocking on her door, and she learns about the shifters and the fight. Then the two wolves become friends at once, and she never doubts any of this.
I like the character to be though and all, but this was somewhat too naive, even for me.
Just two stars, because there could be so much more good-meant-love-tension between them, and a lot more to the story than just this.
TLDR; lovely characters, great story, but way too fast.
2.5 stars - A pedestrian piece of uninspiring prose, with lacklustre characters, stilted dialogue, a predictably plodding plot and proofing issues.
Not much really happens, there's no real drama, no real issues to overcome and the characters are all very civilised and polite, even when they're physically fighting, arguing over key life decisions, or making love. Not just a case of instalove, but insta-acceptance and insta-forgiveness that fails to deliver on the promised 'sizzle'
Refreshingly free from any form of toxic masculine behaviours, other than the hamfisted characterisation of the male protagonist as a thoughtless male who doesn't consider the female protagonist's thoughts and feelings. Though as usual the resolution of the relationship in the end is most benefiting to the male protagonist, in fact he gets everything he wants and the female has to change her whole life, so a feminist triumph the book most definitely is not.
In the end it's a bog standard paint by numbers story that's been poorly executed and is instantly forgettable - one of the weaker novels from this writing team.
What a cute little instant love book. It was short and sweet and kept me engaged until the last page. Both of these two are a little bit clueless, but with help from an unlikely source they managed to find their HEA. I look forward to the next book by this author.
I would have liked this story to go into more depth. Conrad and Maddy are good, but I felt like I was just getting to know them and then it ended! I knew this was short, which is why I haven't read it before now. The pace is fast, the tone uncertain and hopeful, the storyline is character oriented with one steamy scene and believable characters (if you can believe in shifters!).
I have read a lot of books from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this book by far. The characters are believable and lovable. I hope this becomes a series would love to see more about this shifter community.
Healing Her Wolf a paranormal werewolf romance by Zoe Chant is a wonderful story that will have you smiling. The characters are believable. My free opinion. Thanks
A very short werewolf romance, featuring a vet and a wounded werewolf. The werewolf in question is a wolf shifter, with the requisite True Love Soulmate and bitemark wedding ring all that, and the vet is an amiable slob who does animal rehab and recovers remarkably well from finding an unexpected naked man sleeping on her bedroom rug. It felt like the story fizzled out after the initial meeting and sex scene, though - there was a brief encounter with another werewolf who helped sort out their interspecies misunderstandings, a second date, and then it cut to a happily ever after epilogue. Honestly, the vet felt a lot like a self-insert, asking common wolf shifter questions and lampooning genre conventions, and the author couldn't come up with character development or a plot to tack onto that. But I really liked the chemistry and banter between the leads, so I'd still recommend this if you're looking for a light, enjoyable piece of fluff.
So I was just to the point of getting invested in the characters and bam chapter ended and epilogue started....what?... Its like half the journey is missing, we didnt meet the parents or cousins or experience the council in any meaningful way. I mean I loved how they met and the end everything had a nice little bow to wrap up loose ends, but all that only made me ache for another story arc more. So anyways not a bad story it just seems to be missing something.
I could tell this was an earlier book from this author - not a lot of character development or plot outside of "Meet mate. Keep mate" . I thought that Maddy had extremely valid concerns about this dude who shows up, says that shifters are real, by the way you're my mate, and assumes that she's going to uproot her life on his say-so. Ummm, I don't think so! But of course she capitulates in the end and everything is hearts and roses, even though Konrad doesn't take the need for a human representative seriously at all. Ugh.
Wolf shifter meets get as a wolf. Sounds like a good premise, right? Unfortunately, the hero acts like he's 12, and the heroine isn't much better. She finds out shifters exist when a strange man appears in her house. Not 5 minutes later, she sleeps with him. That happens a third of the way through the story. Two thirds of the way through the story, I gave up because the characters haven't gotten to know each other at all. No falling in love is happening here.
Cute and Konrad is pretty sexy but I feel it skips too much and not because it's suppose to be short. The plot leads up to something and then everything gets solved at once and I feel it doesn't feel satisfying. Its like everything is happening all at once. Its a little frustrating. I'm a bit disappointed.
This was a fun, lighthearted read. Fans of shifters and a good snicker will enjoy this book. I would have liked a bit more info at the end, but I liked the characters and would enjoy reading more in the series.
I really enjoyed Healing Her Wolf and Maddy and Konrad's story. I LOVE reading about the paranormal and especially shifters and vampires. I look forward to reading the next book in this Series.
Short fast paced story. Maddy is a vet that is covering for her father while he is on vacation. Doesn't know about the shifter world so when she is called to take care of a feral "dog" she is taken by surprise when it becomes a man. HEA all the way.
This story went really quick, but the characters were fun and the universe sounds interesting. If you like books where the girl gets the guy you may enjoy this one.
I love this author and have read many of her books. Her imagination is second to none and her stories entertaining. I like one of her books to lose myself in to relax and let the world fade away.
Healing Her Wolf is a great love story to read. The reader will enjoy getting to know the characters as they go through their ups and downs. This is a true HEA. Enjoy!
It was an enjoyable read. I liked the characters very much. I wish it was longer. I want to see where Maddy decides to work and get to know her neighbors.
