Kat Singleton is a bestselling contemporary romance author best known for writing Black Ties and White Lies. She specializes in writing elite banter and angst mixed with a heavy dose of spice. Kat strives to write an authentically raw love story for her characters and feels that no book is complete without some emotional turmoil before a happily ever after.
She lives in Kansas with her husband, her two kids, and her two doodles. In her spare time, you can find her surviving off iced coffee and sneaking in a few pages of her current read.
A quick, simple and sweet read. Nothing too groundbreaking but it definitely put me back in my wannabe reading era!! Plus I think this is the fastest I have ever finished a book so I’m basically back baby💃🏽 and think that says something about this story- if you loved wattpad~esk rockstar x (y/n) regular/everyday girl, on tour or fangirl tropes and need a quick read, this might just be your kinda book🎸
Oh and one last thought: To be a real life y/n and be spotted in the concert crowd reading a book😔 was always the dream and still is 🫡
Nash is such a genuinely good guy that I spent half this book wondering why anyone thought it was acceptable to weaponize his feelings. His manager’s brilliant career strategy? Set him up to get his heart broken because his last breakup album was a huge success. Monica… have you considered having a conscience??
Nora, though. Sweetie. Read. The. Contract. I completely understand being so excited to chase your dream of dancing on stage for thousands of people that you’d sign almost anything, but maybe skim the legally binding document before putting your name on it.
What frustrated me most was how all the blame landed on Nora. Was she wrong to agree to the plan in the beginning? Absolutely. But Monica was the mastermind behind the entire scheme and somehow escaped most of the consequences. Nora genuinely fell for Nash, and once she got to know him, her original intentions completely disappeared. She wasn’t plotting how to break his heart. She was desperately hoping she’d never have to.
Does Nash deserve an apology? Definitely. Maybe even a little groveling. But Monica should’ve been polishing her résumé by the end of this book because she orchestrated the whole disaster.
Despite the frustrating third-act drama, I really enjoyed Nash and Nora together. Their relationship felt genuine, the chemistry was there, and I found myself rooting for them long before everything inevitably blew up.
3.5⭐️ Oof…Nora took a lot of heat for something she was hired to do. This plan was not hers. She was a pawn, and when shit hit the fan, she took the FULL blame? Blasphemy.
Did she have a reason to be apologetic? Absolutely. But the brunt of the blame lies with Nash’s management, not with Nora. After the fallout, we hear NOTHING about his management team or members of the label that concocted the entire stunt at all. Instead, we get months of Nora and Nash maneuvering through the pain and heartbreak that was caused.
That entire frustrating scenario aside, I did enjoy getting to live the rockstar life vicariously through Nash and Nora. The scenes in the empty arenas felt immersive. I could imagine sitting high up in the stands watching the stage crew prep everything. The rain show was so beautifully described that I could almost smell the petrichor.
Kat Singleton is a hit or miss author for me, but I’m intrigued enough by this book to continue with the series.
As rock star books go this one was ok. The male narrator took me out of it a little but that didn't stop me. The twists were a little out of left field and the insta love/friendship wasn't the best ever. The angst and wanting wasn't there for me. That being said I did like the book and may even read the next in the series.
I really enjoyed this book… I’ haven’t enjoyed a romance book in so long I forgot what it was like to actually read a good one. Nora was a bit of a bitch to be fair I hated her morals but it was a nice story. Not sure she deserved her ending but it kept me wanting to read. Looking forward to the next book in the series
