When her grandson wins a music camp essay contest, Bree Elise must confront the secrets of her past and the man who thirty years ago stole her heart--and who has been searching for her ever since.

She has published several short stories in various anthologies, and she’s an active member of Orange County Chapter of Romance Writers of America and O.C. Writers.
Heart Strings by Linnea Alexis grabbed my interest from the beginning. Sammy West, a fifty-two-year old former rocker, is giving away one of his guitars at a kids’ music camp rewards ceremony. Sammy picks the winning essay from a pile of contestants. One essay impresses him most. Eight-year-old Andy hopes to encourage his Grandma Bree to start playing again, and the guitar might do that magic. Sammy choses Andy’s essay and will personally travel from Nashville to Wyoming to present it. Thirty years before Sammy made a mistake that forced the love of his life, Bree Elise to take off. Now a widow, Bree who once played guitar for the Silk Ponies has not played since Sammy broke her heart. Bree dreads seeing Sammy but must go to support her grandson. How will Bree and Sammy feel when they see each other again? I highly recommend this touching reunion story, Heart Strings, by talented writer Linnea Alexis.
Heart Strings is a sweet, romantic short story filled with love and loss. This brief snapshot of Sammy and Bree, a couple now in their fifties, who have been separated for thirty years, is very well-written although a little too short for my taste. That being said, there is a lot of emotion here as these two people reconnect after all of this time. Still very much in love, there are many things to be explained and transgressions to be forgiven if they are to have any chance at all of a reconciliation. I really enjoyed the author's writing style and I will definitely be reading more from her. I recommend Heart Strings for anyone who enjoys second chance romances and who doesn't have several free hours at their disposal to devote to reading a full-length novel.
Bree and Sammy were in a relationship thirty years ago, but she ghosted him. When they meet again she has the grace to explain why... and they brave a second chance together.
This was a really short story, but full of emotion and an enjoyable read.
Lovely short story on second chances at love. Bree left Sammy 30 years ago and they had never stopped loving each other until fate brought them back together.
