Adventure, love, passion... What else do you need in life?
When Eva gets pulled out of the water and learns that she was rescued from a destructive tsunami wave that demolished the island of Tenerife, her paradise turns into hell. Throughout the journey additional survivors join the small group and together they must face a new world order that is unexpected, thrilling and at times even chilling.

Ethan and Eva form an exceptional and powerful bond that over time develops into a sensual and stormy love affair, but the obstacles they face along the way and the additional characters they encounter, continuously challenge their relationship.

My name is Dana Levy Elgrod. I am married to Sir James Elgrod...Well, he's not really a sir, but for me, he is. I am the proud mother of Shachar, a smart, gifted little girl of 7 going on seventeen and Jonathan, my fiery, funny little boy of 5, who has the amazing ability to stretch the truth to suit himself.

I am a lecturer in communications at a private university and CEO of a public relations company. I'm addicted to books; at the age of six I entered a library and haven't left since.

The first romance I ever read, and that left the biggest mark, was 'Gone With The Wind'. Whenever I'm having a bad day, I just think of Scarlett O'Hara, and say to myself" After all... tomorrow is another day."

I was raised in a warm and loving family. My parents taught me the power of imagination, to aim as high as I can, and to live life without fear because good things happen to good people. When I met my husband, I realized how amazing it is to live with someone who shows you what love and passion with no boundaries are all about.

I hope and pray that I have succeeded in conveying this message to my readers.

Why did I decide to write The Passion to Survive?

After the Tsunami in Thailand, a plot started forming in my mind. It stayed with me for a few years, but I never thought about developing it any further. Until one evening, my husband told me something that I already knew. He said that if I don't start writing this book, I would always regret it. The next morning, I sat in front of my computer and wrote the first sentence. I erased it and wrote it again, then I changed it and rewrote it, and so it continued for the next twelve hours. The Passion to Survive trilogy was written in one breath. Once I started, I was barely able to stop, and the result is in front of you. I live and breathe my books. Into each one, I have instilled my values, my beliefs, and my love. In each of the characters, there is a little of the people in my life, and there is no doubt in my mind that I am truly blessed!

I didn't want to write this review, because I know the author and didn't want to hurt her feelings.
However - I strongly believe that anyone who aspires to be a writer must learn to deal with criticism, accept it, and maybe even learn something from it and try to get better.

So I decided to stand behind my words and give my review.

Now, this book has too many flaws. I'll name what troubled me most.

1. Writing and editing.
The writing style is really immature. Serious editing is needed to fix the lack of correct punctuation, misspellings (in Hebrew), and the constant changes in POV (which sometimes changes in the same sentence!!), all of which made many parts of the book strange and simply incomprehensible.
It's really really bad. I'm sorry.

2. MARY SUE.
The main characters are absolute Mary-Sue (in Eva's case) and Marty-Sue (Ethan and Anatoly). If you're not familiar with these concepts - here's the definition. Just read it and see for yourself:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define...

Eva and Ethan are not believable characters in any way. They are Mary-Sues par excellence.

Also - all the characters are totally flat. They're just really pretty and talented, and we don't know anything about them - their hopes and dreams, loves and hates, backgrounds of any kind. They're just posters of people who are madly in love because they're so gorgeous and perfect with amazing eyes...

3. The sex scenes - I'm sorry, they're just boring to death. And to hear a character WRITTEN BY AN ADULT thinking that anything but the missionary position is not "making love" - come on! It would make sence if the character was a 13 year-old virgin, not a young woman full of love, desire and passion in a supposedly EROTIC book.
It was on the verge of embarassing. Sorry.

4. Unreliability.
So those young people are scared of an unwanted pregnancy - and they should be, it's the end of the world and all that... SO WHY THE HELL don't they do ANYTHING to prevent it?!? NEVER. Not once! Come on!
And... how is it that many houses are just waiting empty for them - yet a day after that the "street" is full of neighbours, born out of thin air? People even have jobs and a school there... Wait - what?
And those are just a few examples.

5. Potentially abusive relationships are not my cup of tea.
Ethan is NOT an alpha male - he's just an abusive, arrogant, overbearing bully, and Eva is constantly afraid of him and his reactions. She starts being afraid of simply TALKING to other men!! THIS IS NOT ROMANTIC! All of his behaviour screams "ABUSIVE VIOLNET BOYFRIEND AHEAD - RUN AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN!"
I sometimes felt it was hard to believe that a woman wrote this...
May I remind you that this is not a mutually-agreed-on total-power-exchange BDSM-relationship. It's just abusive and highly disturbing.
Again - see for yourself. Here's an article relevant to this very important issue:
http://www.yourtango.com/experts/wend...

That's about it.
I don't mean to offend anyone. I just have to be honest and I would tell the truth even to my best friend if I had to. When I give 5 stars and a "LIKE" - you can be sure it's honest and that I mean it.

Do you know the feeling of total exhaustion after an aerobic workout that make you realize that you just topped your best performance to date? That was my feeling upon reading the last word of The Passion to Survive. I just realized Dana L. Elgrod just topped every other book I ever read – literally.

We were presented to Eva after she survived a tsunami disaster while vacationing in Tenerife just to realize the world as she knew has come to an end taking her best friend with it.

Luckily for her she was not the only survivor. Hot ex-military-man Ethan, teenager Jonathan and little girl Lily were her comrades in her journey to find a way out of the hell they found themselves in.

I found myself out of breath while being sucked into a whirlpool of this small group endless stream of hardships while trying to find any sign of civilization, during which they encountered more survivors – dashing ex-Russian military Anatoly and shy Spanish Maria, the French group – Jan, easygoing Francin and fun Philip, Ana and Miguel and many others.

Eva and her legion of multicultural strangers that do not know each other but depend on one another to survive take them across the Mediterranean Sea to France and the UK, well, whatever was left of them.

Walking, driving, sailing, climbing, crawling… killing – Eva did everything to survive. Death all around her she found within herself the will to survive because Ethan made her body come to life with passion she never felt before, human cruelty forced her to group the other survivors and make them her friends and sights of total destruction in every turn steeled her heart so that she could restart her life while trying to figure out the fates of the all the people she held dear to her heart.

In the midst of all Eva finds herself in a love triangle with Ethan and Anatoly. First love feelings, passion outbreaks and out of the world sex were enhanced with every city, state and continent around Eva have unknown fates.

This tale of adventure after adventure mixed with all range of human feelings – love, passion, joy, jealousy, sadness, hate, grief and much more – are all integrated with the end aim – to just survive.

The author managed to combine any adventure story your read thus far and spice it up with steaming sex scenes that will just make you enjoy the story exponentially more with each and every page you turn.

Think this book rocked? Wait to the second part. It just gets hotter.

I have read the book the Passion to survive because I've got a good recommendation. I didn't know that the book will change my mind so drastically. Everything I've read until then doesn't count anymore. I was hooked- just like that. I was addicted to Eva, Eitan, Anatoly, Lily, Jonathan and all of the survivors crew. Tsunami that destroy big parts of the planet leave the survivors no choice but to make their way to England. During the hard voyage they meet other survivors that joined them and they become a big group of survivors. The Passion to survive is a moving story about adventure' mutual help, limitless loyalty, deep love' friendship and of course, betrayals and infidelity. Without a doubt, the best book I have read in the last decade and I highly recommend it.

I enjoyed it. It was a great read of survival in a world where no place on Earth survived tragedy. I liked how a group of people stuck together- with all sorts of issues and personal dramas nonetheless, as would be expected of human nature.
It was easy to "live" in the story, yet frustrating at times. There are so many things I would have wanted to say and do if I was one of the survivors. I found it surprising that 2 army guys were constantly amused by the, sometimes lucky, ideas that Eva came up with.
Ethan- slightly robotic and a total cave man. Anatoly- A Russian! A well displayed Russian I thought :) Philippe- the life of the group with never ending optimism... What a great clash of characters!

Great book

Very well written, energetic novel that takes you through the lives of 18 young people on their journey to safety. I really hope a part two will come out as the journey proceeds across the Atlantic to the United States.

Sad

It's sad to see a book that had real possibility go so bad. The first few pages were great. In fact they hooked me so well that I kept on reading as the story got worse and worse. I kept hoping things would improve, but my hopes were in vain.

In the book a worldwide disaster throws a group of people together and it is heartwarming to see how they take care of each other. Also, one of the male heroes, the Russian soldier, should be nominated for immediate sainthood -- that is when he isn't behaving like a sexist pig. And that is the trouble with this book. Like its constantly shifting point of view, it is all over the map but mostly downhill.

I picked this book up with limited expectations and went purely by the reviews on amazon. I literally couldn't put the book down. From the very first chapter I was hooked . It's best described as an adventure/romance and it get's pretty erotic in places. The main story is based on a series of devastating natural disaster,s pretty much whipping out the planet bar a few survivors. The book was paced well, and the writing style a good match for me. I particularly liked the character development and I really grew to empathize with most characters, although I found Eva a little too irritating in places.. To much of a princess for me & i'm not sure why she deserved this status at times. The only thing stopping me giving this a 5 stars is i'm not rushing to pick up the second book, despite devouring the first. Although I know I will read it after a small break.

Very poor editing, an incredibly long and boring book. I did not finish. I was tempted to quit after a couple of chapters but slogged on to the middle of the book...then gave up. The characters are idiots. Also the author has mixed first person with third person interspersed when other characters are the focus. Poorly done.

Okay the first thing that annoyed me to the point of refusing to like the book at all is the setting. Lost on the Island of Tenerife?!*% Tenerife?! Like that small but highly populated tourist destination of the coast of Spain? Errg an ant couldn't get lost there. This highlights a lack of external research into this book. Author should have created a fictional island.

Eva survives a tsunami in Tenerife to find that world as she knew it is gone. This is also she realizes that her best friend has also gone.

The good news is she finds out that she isn't the only survivor. Step forward ex army man Ethan, teenager Jonathan and little girl called Lily. Together the four of them must pull together and the escape the hell they have been caught up in and trapped in.

Took me forever to get through this book. While the adventure part was good, I grew to dislike Eva. lol Constantly needing help or sleeping while others worked. Ugh. lol And the "Emerald princess" stuff got old fast. Not sure if I'll get the next book, although, like I said, the premise was good.

Started out with so much promise but the writing and repetitiveness ruin it. The main character is flat. It's not remotely believable and the sex scenes are boring. It really had the potential to be a great story but didn't make it there.

I am going to try my hardest to not ramble on and just write down my emotions during my read of The Passion to Survive.
This story starts off right after the island of Tenerife was hit by a tsunami, Us Marine Corps officer Ethan keeps diving back into the water to look for survivors. During one of his dives he pulls Eva out of the water and his life is not going to be the same.
The characters are written so perfectly by Dana L. Egrod that I was drawn into the book from the beginning. Eva captivated me as she did every male character in the story, her presence was strong, hypnotic, loving, frustrating and I found myself wanting to protect her. I even found myself yelling at a female character that was trying to take her man. Since she was a little shy, timid and naive in the beginning. This journey that Eva and the other survivors must take will change her and she will find strength that she never thought possible. That journey will make you smile and at times it will send chills, the soon to be family of survivors are so thankful that they have Ethan by their side.
What can I say about Ethan, who I can only describe as close to perfect as possible. He is their savior, guide, protector and he is their anchor. He is so passionately in love with Eva and holds all restraint when it comes to her except for his frustration with her, which can lead to one angry man. When Ethan and Eva finally surrender to their sexual frustrations it is beyond erotic, I don't even think that is the right word to describe their moments (which are few and far between) it is bone- chilling passion that is felt to your core being. The love Ethan and Eva find along their journey is indescribable because it goes beyond the love they have for one another it spreads to the survivors they pick up along the way.
The Passion to Survive not only gives you one handsome hero it gives you two, on the way they come across Anatoly who is a Russian Marine officer and forms a brotherly bond with Ethan. Anatoly will protect the family that is formed of survivors and especially those "Emerald" eyes of Eva. The love in this story is written so powerful that it had me trembling and bawling. There are so many characters in this book that will leave a place in your heart. I cannot wait for The Passion to Live which comes out Sept. 29th.

* Sometimes, I am offered books to read so I can give a review and the author/ writer always tells me Thank You. With some books which this is one of them, I feel like saying " No, Dana L. Egron Thank You for allowing me to read a piece of your soul." *

Where to start? This is post-apocalypse and civilization is destroyed by natural disaster. But it's simply too much with tsunamis, earthquakes, lava eruptions and avalanches, all at the same time.

Then we have the "heroine". 20 years old and basically a spoiled, immature brat. One would think that a woman this young would be in prime physical condition but she falls asleep all the time, and the rest of the time she cries and cries. Someone so needy and incapable wouldn't make it through the first week, let alone from Tenerife all the way to England.

All the people are cardboard characters, no depth or development.

And all that talk about eye-colors. The hero is half the time not called by name but deep blue eyes. But worse, the heroine has green eyes and those appear to be magical. Everyone, literally everyone reacts to them like they hold special powers. They are even more arresting than the one from the famous Afghan Girl from the National Geographic cover. Ugh.

The hero is not an alpha but simply a bully. Where was this book erotic? A few sex scenes don't make it erotic, sometimes it's just awkward.

I wonder why I didn't dnf and read it all. I certainly won't read the other books in the series.

Suddenly, while playing in the ocean, everything goes black and when Eva gets pulled out of the water, she meets the bluest eyes she has ever seen. Then she realizes that while she is technically still on vacation, things have changed. It isn't just in Tenerife, either - it has happened all over the globe.

Ethan, (Marine with the blue eyes) Eva and several others end up traveling to London through many perils and stress. They meet up with Anatoly (ex-Russian military) and his group, some wonderful folks in Spain and in France. All the countries they walk through are decimated wearing down their energy and hopes. But somehow they do survive, through passion and friendships. Some friendships which may well end up being more.
