Sons of Anarchy meets Sicario and Taken in It Is What It Is: Noir et Bleu Motorcycle Club Series.
Tracking down the missing daughter of a senior member of the Noir et Bleu Motorcycle Club should be a quick, easy assignment for Tait—a chance to finally earn his full patch and officially become a member of the outlaw biker family. But the mission leads him into the clutches of a Mexican drug cartel and now the daughter is not the only one tangled up in a lethal situation.

So I usually love the motorcycle riding hard nosed suspense crazy books .. but this one had me at a loss. I wasn’t crazy about the MC name so that was the first kicker for me. Then there was the international drug ring … again a little over the top for this girl. I know .. not fair but I have my ideas about keeping with one crime lord at a time than spanning all of the goodness into one. Kolby needs to find her little sister Roxie. The only person she knows to go to is her step dad Cisco. The man loves them both with all he is. Their mother .. worthless. When going to the clubhouse to see Cisco and ask him for help there is a man there. Tait wants nothing more than to patch in with the MC and this may be his ticket. Finding a spoiled girl cant be hard right?!?!?
Here comes the Mexican Cartel and everything else. The back and forth between Kolby and Tait is laugh out loud funny at times. I do love her character for sure. Sassy, strong willed and knows what she wants for sure. That kept me turning the pages to say the least. The story line was just a bit too much for me. I couldn’t get into the story and just wanted to read about Kolby and Tait on the romantic side.
There are other books I think in the series maybe? There is a long list at the end of this one so not sure if I missed something or if I would benefit from reading them prior. I just wasn’t crazy about this one. But you cant make up your own mind. Click it up and give it a shot.
Thank you for the ARC --- Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
It Is What It Is by D.R. Graham was a quick and easy read provided to me by Entangled via Netgalley.
Our MC is Kolby who is searching for her missing little sister Roxie, after exhausting all avenues she turns to her step-father Cisco, a leader of the Noir et Bleu Motorcycle Club for help. When Kolby arrives at the clubhouse she meets Tait, a clean-cut smart guy who wants nothing more than to become a member of the club.
I really liked Tait aka Uni but I didn’t understand why he wanted to become a member so much, he didn’t fit it at all! I liked his interactions with Kolby but I would have loved some sweeter, romantic interactions between them, everything seems so rushed.
A lot happens in their search for Roxie and they end up involved with the Mexican cartel, at only 190 pages I didn’t feel there was enough time to develop the storyline properly and meet all of the key players; everything seemed to happen all at once.
Besides Kolby and Tait, I didn’t like any of the side characters and that is probably because there wasn’t enough page time to learn enough about them. It would have been great if this book was a lot longer.
Unfortunately, I felt this book lacked depth; I would have liked more – the inner workings of the club, what had actually happened to Roxie in the days since she was taken, the relationship between Cisco/Roxie & Kolby. I’m not sure if this book is a part of a series but I think it definitely had potential.
Thank you to Entangled via Netgalley for the opportunity to read It Is What It Is by D.R. Graham.
This book gives you a little biker, a little romance, a little humor, and a little suspense. We have a biker prospect with a little twist; this one comes with quite the vocabulary and brain power. When Cisco was training him he gave him the nickname Uni because he used words that you normally would not associate with biker swag…he spoke way above most of the people he came in contact with. Hence the nickname Uni because it sounded like he straight from a University. Tait had a hard with the guys because they all thought it was because he had one nut.
Cisco had two stepdaughters who he loved very much and was very protective of since he knew their mother was no longer capable of caring for them since she became an addicted street whore. Even after the divorce he provided for the girls and they meant a lot to him. Tait was waiting for Cisco to get out of a meeting with Digger who was the club president when this really hot chick came into the club house. He didn’t think she belonged there like the other club whores because of the way she carried herself. He was about to make his move toward her when she went running into the arms of Cisco. Tait did not know of their relationship and thought the Cisco was probably robbing the cradle some and being only a lowly prospect he had to take a step back. Once Tait found out that Kolby was Cisco’s stepdaughter he knew he had to take more than a step back because Cisco threatened death if he laid a hand on her.
Kolby came to the clubhouse hoping that Cisco would help her look for her younger sister Roxie. She had gone missing and Kolby felt that something really bad had happened to her and she needed Cisco’s help tracking her down. Cisco gave Tait the job of looking after Kolby with the hands off policy in place. Once they realized that Roxie was in even more trouble than first thought of it took the whole club both in the US and Mexico to track Roxie down and hopefully get her back alive.
Was Tait able to keep Cisco’s hands off policy in place or would Kolby break down Tait’s resolve? After learning that Roxie was abducted by Mexican cartel who wanted to trade Roxie for the club’s Mexican territory was there even a chance that Roxie was still alive? This was pretty good book that leads you through Kolby’s resolve never to let her little sister down and does whatever she could to get her sister back. Some of the banter between Kolby and Tait was pretty funny and then when you added in the sexual tension it was hard to put down. It was full of a lot of suspense wondering if and how they would be able to get to Roxie in time.
This book was provided as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.
Many of the things that I have come love about a motorcycle club romance are found in this story. It has tension, romance and big bad boys doing good and bad things. While light on sexual heat there is no lack of emotion as Kolby is determined to find her missing sister with the help of her club family. Tait is a prospect to the club and he is equally determined to gain his patch by helping to save the girl.
Ahh, Tait. He was a surprise. In so many ways he is the exact opposite of what I traditionally imagine a big, bad biker dude would look and act like. At the same time though he also embodied so many of the best traits. Loyalty, tenacity, bravery and adaptability to name a few. Yes, I may have fallen for Tait just a wee bit. Read it, you’ll understand (and probably do the same).
The relationship between Kolby and Tait was laced with humour, sarcasm and, above all, honesty. On the surface they didn’t seem to have a lot in common but the more they got to know each other the similarities became plain to see. Their goal was the same even if why they were doing it was very different.
“You s**ked s**t.” “Okay, well, what should I do differently next time?” “Not s**k s**t.”
Suspenseful, with a dangerous twist and turn around every corner, I can’t wait to dive into the earlier books in this series. While I may wished for more romance overall, a good story is a good story and this definitely was that!
Favourite new word: Unasses. I can’t believe I’ve read so many military romances and this is the first I’ve read this one. I may try it out in the office tomorrow….
Not your traditional MC read but definitely one of my favorite books I've read this year! It has a little bit of MC, humor, romance and suspense which makes for an excellent read!
Tait, aka Uni, is a prospect for Cisco's MC. Cisco is training Tait and has given him the nickname Uni because of the vocabulary he uses, which is definitely not your typical "biker" speak. The other men of the MC assumed Uni meant he only had one nut and are always giving him a hard time about it.
One day a gorgeous woman comes plowing into the MC clubhouse demanding to see Cisco. Turns out Kolby is one of his stepdaughters whom he is very protective of. When Kolby explains that her sister has gone missing Cisco assumes that she's just out partying and puts Tait in charge of helping Kolby find her, also throwing out the warning that he would kill Tait if he put so much as a finger on Kolby. Kolby thinks that Tait is nothing but a pain in the as* doing everything she can to get rid of him, which she manages to accomplish by hoping a plane to Mexico... landing Tait in a world of hurt with Cisco. When the entire clan heads to Mexico to save both sisters Kolby and Tait wind up being kidnapped and things go from bad to worse.
I loved the original plot in this story. Kolby and Tait's conversations are hilarious and the way Tait stands up to Cisco to save Kolby was awesome! I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this story. I highly recommend checking it out!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Hooked On Books!

Warning: this is a new adult novel. Don’t like crude language and humor? Sex references and day dreams? Don’t read it. I like these things on dangerous levels, along with motorcycles, reckless driving, and burritos. So this was a good book.
This is a book about a guy named Tait who is trying to get into a renowned bikers club. In his great escapades of grandeur he earns himself the nickname Uni. Uni then meets Kolby, aka the hot older ex-step-daughter of his hopeful-boss-leader-of-the-motorcycle-group. Her problem: her younger sister has gone missing. His problem: he now has to babysit her and she gets lost. A lot. Plus, she’s hot.
What I loved. Well, everything. The writing was great. There was humor and cursing and strong vocabulary. The plot was driven by the decisions of the characters. Every character had backstory and problems and desires. It was great.
What I loved about this book is that it has a little bit of everything in it. It's romantic, funny, and has a bit of suspense to boot. Kolby was fantastic. She is super confident with quite the side of sass. She comes to her stepdad's MC looking for help to find her sister and ends up with Tait. Her sister Roxie is in some serious trouble and it's quite the ride to track her down and rescue her. Along the way they will have to fight their attraction to each other...or not. I so enjoyed their story.
Another fantastic book by D.R. Graham. The author takes us deep into the world of motorcycle clubs--a complicated hierarchy I found interesting to read about. I love the fast pace, well-drawn characters and the sexual chemistry between the main characters kept me furiously flipping pages. I loved the smart characters and Tait's resourcefulness. Definitely a book I will read again!
This was a good book. I got a lot of humor from Uni and Kolby. There is also enough suspense and action to make it sure it is not a romantic comedy. I also liked how this could be read as a standalone, even though I am sure it will help if you read the others first.
