J.W. Beekes is a horror writer from Bristol, England, whose fiction explores the unsettling spaces where the ordinary collides with the impossible. Drawing inspiration from everyday locations, urban legends, British folk traditions, punk rock culture, and classic horror cinema, his stories blend psychological tension, cosmic dread, body horror, and supernatural terror.

His characters are often ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances: baristas working opening shifts, musicians clinging to fading dreams, travellers who take the wrong turn, or friends searching for entertainment on an otherwise normal evening.

Through layered atmosphere, vivid sensory detail, and a growing sense of unease, his stories examine obsession, isolation, identity, and the hidden horrors lurking beneath familiar routines.

A lifelong fan of horror in all its forms, Joe's influences range from Stephen King, Clive Barker, and Adam Nevill to modern independent horror, punk music, and the strange corners of everyday life that most people pass without a second glance.

When he's not writing, Joe works in software development and lives in the South West of England, where the region's history, folklore, and landscapes often find their way into his fiction combined with places he’s been fortunate enough to travel to earlier in his life.

In addition to writing, he spends time with his many pet animals, that keep him entertained and occupied and his wife Sarah who feeds him many a book idea.

He believes the most frightening horror is not found in castles or graveyards, but in the places we visit every day, and in the moment that we realise something is terribly, impossibly wrong.
