Exhausted: The Impossible Standard for Mothers in the Workforce

Rate this book
This book shares my personal story—but unfortunately, my experience is not unique. Women in the workforce are navigating the reality of holding full-time responsibilities both at work and at home. We face ongoing roadblocks in a world historically designed by men and not built to support households where both parents work outside the home.
Many of us are driven to make a meaningful impact through our careers. We want to use our skills and strengths to contribute, lead, and grow. Yet, operating within systems that were not designed with us in mind often leads to a deep and persistent exhaustion.

Women and moms are holding up our families, homes, and communities. Why are we not treated with the same level of respect and opportunity then as men and dads in the workforce?

In this book, I explore the root causes of that exhaustion, share insights and lessons from my own journey, and outline the changes needed for mothers to truly have a fair opportunity to pursue the same possibilities as fathers. Supported by research, data, and lived experiences, this book demonstrates what many of us have felt for years is not individual—it is systemic.

Excellent read for any mother who is balancing the mental load of mothering and a professional career ladder. Therr are systemic issues facing our country that need to be addressed. Quick read with great ideas for how to start chipping away at the imbalance.

I am Exhausted and that is just one of so many reasons Kristi’s book was relatable! A quick read that reminds us we aren’t alone and there are real societal changes needed to help lift us out of the impossible standard for two parent working households!
