I got this one from the library as I heard quite a bit of hype about it on some vegan boards. I did not read it for the 'lose weight' information, I wanted to see the recipes. They look interesting and made with easy to find ingredients. Looking forward to cooking more from this one.

I didn't realize this was a vegan cookbook when I picked it up, but I do want to incorporate more vegetables into my diet so I tried a number of the recipes. Other than the chocolate pudding (which didn't turn out well for me), I liked every recipes I tried and one - the shepherd's pie - I liked so well I made it twice already. I appreciated that many of these recipes were full of flavor and didn't just try to replicate other recipes with substitutions to make them vegan.

Now I want to take a moment to say that I did not pick up this cookbook with the intent to follow its 28 day plan. I picked it up to see what sorts of healthy recipes that were vegetarian or vegan that I might want to add into my own diet. Honestly I don't think I could ever be one of those people who subscribes to someone else's menu because I have my own taste and preferances and will not want to actually eat everything they have planned, which is probably how most people lose weight.

I don't think that eating a plant based diet is a good way to lose weight fast, it is however a good way to promote healthy living. I honestly think that humans were meant to be omnivores but in modern times we eat way too much meat. Meat should be a part of diet, but I don't think it is necessary every day, and therefor I picked this up. I think it had a handful of good recipes. I'm not sure how I would feel about a smoothie for breakfast every morning, but some people are into that. I usually reach for some granola, or trail mix, or oat meal. Something that will actually sit in my stomach.

I keep getting side tracked here, in any case. It looked good. There were some recipes I wanted to try, I wasn't the biggest fan of the diet approach. There we go. Summed it all up in a few sentances.

I had to come back and edit my review because while I wasn't a fan of the non recipe section, the recipes absolutely make up for that. (Personal preference and all that.) The handful of items I've made were dishes that we will put into regular rotation. It is not a quick and easy style book so expect to put some time in to the recipes. My favorites so far include Moroccan Lentil Soup, BBQ Tofu and Avocado Spring Rolls and the Chiles Rellenos Casserole Bake. This is a book that will have you coming back over and over until you've made everything in it. Definitely give these recipes a try.

I was expecting this to be a bit more of a guide than a cookbook. However, I've been wanting to get inot meal plan and also to eat less fat and processed food, so I'm going to give this a go.
