Tabitha: A Novelette
When two females don’t want to share, there’s bound to be a catfight.
In a small cage crouches a brooding black cat. Tabitha. The name suggests beauty and majesty. But perhaps mixed with a little mischief, too. Or maybe more.
Joe Murphy, a mild-mannered paralegal, visits a shelter in search of a kitten. But Tabitha, a five-year-old adult cat, beguiles him. A shelter volunteer warns Joe that Tabitha’s “complicated” and carries more baggage than a bellhop.
But Joe feels an immediate connection with the feline, much to the chagrin of his fiancé, Heather. When Joe brings Tabitha home, things get catty. Heather thinks Joe’s obsessed with the cat and is becoming estranged from her. Weird occurrences occur. Heather’s convinced that Tabitha is out to get her. But Tabitha’s just a cat…or is she?
Is it a horror story or a love story? Maybe it takes a cat lover to know. A purr-fect short read for those who prefer the company of cat to most humans.
