The first full novel in this new series and it transported me to Ireland with vivid descriptions of small village life and secrets kept from outsiders.

I read the prequel right before this novel and normally I find that it adds depth, character and a backdrop to a full novel. But in this case, some names and moments are rather confusing as they don't seem to line up between the two books.

But I did enjoy the atmosphere of the novel and the connection between Brenna and Cormac.

The timeline sometimes feels like there should have been more time between the past and the present, as 1972 for me doesn't feel that long ago, but of course, it has been 50 years.
There are some minor inconsistencies throughout the book, but nothing too bad. It would benefit from another look though.

I loved the twists and turns, the mystery deepened considerably towards the end and ofcourse, there is a cliffhanger as announced by the author.

So I'm curious about the next novel!

“Whispers in the Mist” by Cait Byrne

-Brenna Callahan moves to the quiet Irish village of Duncree Haven for a fresh start, but after finding a body after her first day, she is pulled into a mystery full of secrets. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my thoughts.

Cormac O’Rourke, a guarded local historian, tries to keep her safe as they uncover the truth together. I enjoy the atmospheric Irish setting, the village folklore, and the slow-burn romance woven into the mystery. The twists keep the reader guessing, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. This is book one of the Duncree Haven Romantic Mysteries, has cliffhanger leading to the next installment.

Brenna Callahan goes to a little village in Ireland to write a travel piece. What she gets is so much more. A Village with secrets, a hot Irishman and a mystery people are not willing to give up. Very atmospheric. A good start to a new series. Brenna Callahan goes to a little village in Ireland to write a travel piece. What she gets is so much more.
