Isobeau de Shera de Wolfe, 15th Century
I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how this was going to end well. And, I can usually see it somewhere. That is how good it is. Well developed, multi-layered characters in a page turner. So many twists and turns. This book elicits so much emotion. There were several times it brought tears to my eyes. I particularly loved how each chapter started out with the lyrics of a song that was being written by our heroine, Isobeau de Shera de Wolfe. Those poignant words always signified where she was in her mind and emotions. Our hero, Atticus de Wolfe, was such a complex character, seemingly stoic and cold, but was anything but that. Wonderful!
Every single time I read one of Kathryn Le Veque's books, I am always amazed at her ability to keep the story lines fresh, so very clever and exciting. Each book is literally an "edge of your seat" read. Each book elicits so many emotions. Each book touches your heart. She is truly a gifted writer and the master of this genre.
I highly recommend this book. Once you do, you will want to read "The Wolfe," Titus and Atticus' ancestor's book (and my personal favorite read of all time). Awesome!
As always another great book. Loved the characters all of them. I also love that in each book the character of each knight and female heroine is always different which makes for good reading. I have read other books where it's so similar I stop reading it as it's like the same story but different names. This is another gem and well worth reading.
Many new character introduced so a little hard to follow at times, but LeVeque does not disappoint with the storyline. Loved this book just like all the others I have read.

Oh my Lord, for me this is one of Kathryn Le Veque's best book yet! This story had me crying from the first chapter. It has been years since a book did this to me. I wept at least two more times throughout the story.
Atticus de Wolfe is a strong and exceptional hero and Isabeau de Shera de Wolfe is a phenomenal heroine. There was never a slow moment in the story. The pace was really good. It truly moved me emotionally throughout. This story was worth every second spent on it.
I never give out spoilers, but what I will say is that these two characters go through some of the most heartfelt situations throughout the story. There are scenes that are truly intense, brutal, humorous and heart wrenching.
I read almost every day and I can sincerely say, Kathryn Le Veque is the only author who, time and time again, can draw such emotions from me while reading a story. It is truly an amazing feeling when you finish reading an exceptional story that can draw so many emotions from you. This author is brilliant!!!!!
I would highly recommend The Lion of the North to anyone who loves Medieval Romance.
Congratulations for this successful release. I cannot wait for this author's next masterpiece!
3.5 stars Ms. Le Veque is a very good writer and she is particularly good at portraying "band of brothers" and family. This story was more a tale of adventure and revenge, the romance, while there, was secondary. Slow moving at times there was still much character growth and plenty happened. I rounded down and not up in this case, because I would have preferred some of the violence be off page.
What a great story! I laughed I cried! De Wolfe has always held a soft spot for me and it was wonderful to read more of the De Wolfe characters. It did not disappoint, but I have not read a Kathryn Le Veque book that has. You will love Atticus and Isabeau!
Really good book. Although the romance was few and far between IMO... Not much chemistry between the h/h really but the story was so engaging, I didn't even care.
Ah, this is a fine book. Characters who seem real. Emotionally charged moments, and a plot that makes sense. Can't ask for more, and we all too often must settle for less. Recommended.
This book had me hooked from the beginning. Action packed. Titus and Atticus were brothers and very close. Titus was attacked by traitors to king Henry before the battle of Towton began. On his deathbed he asked his brother Atticus to marry his new wife, Isobeau and take care of her. Atticus reluctantly agreed. Their beginning was rocky as you might imagine but soon began to grow into more than either expected. Battles, grief, more loss, betrayal, personal growth, strong male friendships, revenge and new love kept me turning pages well into the night. I couldn’t put it down. It was a little weird to me in the beginning that Atticus was marrying his brothers wife so soon after his death but as the story moved on it began to make more sense.
This book starting from page 1 until the very end is very difficult to put down. At times I had to set it aside for a chore or two but I couldn't await to get back to it. There were heart breaking twists and happy ever after turns. There are so many characters in this book that it seems as if Kathryn LeVeque writes several mini stories within one terrific character rich Novel. This book is just another example of another 5* novel by Kathryn Leveque. I will be returning with another review when I complete the next book. I am so anxious to begin reading, Walls of Babylon. If you want to be swept up in the Medieval World of Kathryn Leveque, the De Wolfe Pack Series is a great start.
I love this series 2nd time I read it. Love how you read from the start of the family which is William & Jordan to this generation 200 years. Attics & Titus expresses the love for each other as brothers & the all the other knights. I still was very upset when Warrenne died that was the saddest. Kathryn Or Veque is my favorite history romance writer.

This book!! My heart and tears all belong to this book this day! Atticus and Isabeau are two people who go through such turmoil it just breaks your heart for them. I stayed up well past my bedtime and finished it in the early morning (4am to be exact) of this day just because I needed to see where it all ended and began for them. I didn’t realize how much this book echoed some parts of my past, losing a brother to murder, watching your father grieve at the viewing of the body, being helpless in the face of a tragic situation, then to top it all losing something so precious before it even came to full term. Ohhh god, this book is absolutely amazing!
This was a very sad but wonderful story of murder and vengeance. However, it was also one of love - love for a brother, a friend, a woman and a brotherhood of knights. Titus de Wolfe's murder led his brother searching for his killers all the while his brother is also forced to constantly be on the lookout for other traitors and eventually, to defend his childhood home from assault. When all is done and he and his wife and brotherhood of knights finally manage to find the killers, vengeance on them comes from an unlikely source. Loved this book!
I really liked Isobeau Atticus' story and I found myself anticipating the vengeance that was handed down 2 the two traitors. It was a very emotional story and I couldn't wait to see what Atticus had planned for them. When Titus was killed I found myself praying that he would survive. But Isabeau was very wise I'm saying that everything happens for a reason. This was part of Borderland Brides and it was a very good story and I highly recommend it.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. The death bed request from one brother to another, plus an explanation on the cause of the Knight's injuries, sets the brother on a quest of retribution against those that were traitors to their brotherhood of knights and the conquest of of a young widow, in keeping with her husband's last wishes.
A dramatic, and at times, suspenseful episode in the continuing saga of the descendants of William De Wolfe.
This story starts with much drama with the loss of a major battle and the murder of the main character's brother.Even though the story has just started drives most readers to tears. They dying brother elicits a promise from his brother to marry his widow. The romantic tension began when widow n the brother start to develop feelings for each other but they don't want to admit it due to feeling guilty of those feelings.
The Lion of the North, book 13 in Kathryn Le Veque’s De Wolfe Pack series, has all the feels. As I write this there are still tears in my eyes. Tears of sorrow, and tears of joy for what I believe is one of my favorite books in this series. The story of Atticus De Wolfe and Isabeau de Shera de Wolfe is a beautiful story born from a promise of duty into a great love. All I can say is WOW! You knocked my socks off with this one. I loved it! ❤️
A lovely, beautiful book. It’s hard to comment on each special moment that was precious to me. There were many touching interactions between friends and family. There’s much heartache in this book. One painful difficulty after another. Difficulties that bring great joy once surmounted. A beautiful love story and A WONDERFUL happy ever after ending. Another favorite of mine. Truly each one is a favorite. pamarella PRCS
Awesome plot and characters in this stand alone book
I have enjoyed reading this book tremendously. The plot and characters are well developed and entertaining. The non stop action will keep you turning the pages. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. Kudos on an excellent series.
I thought this was an excellent story, although it was bittersweet. Atticus and Isobeau suffered through so much heartache and grief together that they developed a deep and loving bond. I loved their story, difficult though it was. Have a big box of tissues by your side. I enjoy Kathryn Leveque's medieval stories and I think this is one of her best.
One the best authors of medieval romance, Le Veque tells the story of historical conflict in England and honorable knights fighting for loyalty to their king and family. Intertwined is a love story between a knight of death who finds light and hope with the woman he loves. EXCELLENT READ!!! As always, Le VEQUE never disappoints.
What a great set of books. Atticus went through so much but in the end, vengeance was his. The de Wolfe family has wrapped themselves in my daily thoughts and I can wait to read more. Thanks to Kathryn for her dedication in these books and the friends and families that are intertwined.
I know I sound like a broken record, but again I did enjoy this story .Especially the ending, excellent name they chose. The story and conflict were well done. The battles and how a women intervened.I will be sorry when this storyline ends, but I’ll start a new one! Thank you again.
Terrific Story! Love all the Action plus a Great Love Story!
A typically wonderful and immensely readable story from Ms. le Veque! She never fails to write an exciting and sexy story with fully realized characters that you cannot help but fall in love with every time! I would recommend this to anyone.
Titus and Atticus De Wolfe were brothers and mighty knights. While at the battle at Towton Titus was killed but before taking his last breath he told his brother that he was betrayed by 2 of their knights and asked his brother Atticus to marry his wife and take care of her. A good story but also much sadness.
Loved the storyline. The story flowed easily with the feeling that it was rushed. The characters were easy to fall for. Atticus was the hero everyone wants to fall for. My favorite was Warrene. His cool demeanor and steady strength kept Atticus on the level while giving him advice that he normal ly would have gone to his brother for. Great read.
Way too disturbing and emotional to enjoy reading. Way too many unnecessary deaths as well.
I've also noticed this similarities with this author. Quite the bloodthirsty wench she is. Always out aggressively to kill out decent likeable characters lol.
Not a fan of her books. So won't be reading any of her other works.
