Oh wow. This book was so much more than I was expecting! It's exactly why I love to read so much! I love that it allows you to escape real life and explore your deep dark fantasies.
Eva is witty and real. You are rooting for her and really want to get to know her and how she ended up in her current situation. I love her inner dialogue.
Hex is so mysterious and I want to know all the answers. I want to get to know him even though he is not your typical hero. There is more to him and I cannot wait to continue in this awesome series that took me completely by surprise. It is so well written and descriptive without being boring and going on and on.
I am going to start the next book ASAP because I need more answers!
I would truly recommend this to anyone looking for something exciting and sexy that grabs your attention instantly and holds on to it!

I have to admit, Ms. Joren had me at the first line of the blurb. Then, when I began reading the actual story, it didn't take long to understand what a masterful (see what I did there?) grasp of brilliantly polished prose the author has. Quite aside from the intriguing plot, the beauty of the language is a real treat, whether you find the situation in the story dangerous or titillating, or even humorous. For me, there are flashes of all three, but I'm happy to suspend my practical side and mentally urge Eva to relax and enjoy her predicament.
Hex is HOT, HOT, HOT, even if maddeningly mysterious and high handed. That's how we like our alphas, right? And Eva--love her spunk and sassy outbursts. Her insecurities about her body are so on point that, while I can't quite see Hex's motivations, I must applaud his campaign to save her from herself.
The sensual scenes are intense enough to leave the reader breathless, completely fresh and without the trite mechanics that mar so much erotic romance. Read it for those alone if you must, but read it!
I cannot wait for the next part of this serial! Please, please make it soon.

Picked this one up while it was free. The blurb sounded interesting along with the Dark/Erotica label. Other than Hex kidnapping the main character Eva, that's about as dark as it gets. We find out that these two have been conversing for over 2 years in a sex chat room in which she portrays herself to be a tall slim beautiful girl (dont we all). When Hex makes it to her apartment, he finds a size 18/20 lady who looks nothing like he was told. He kidnaps her and takes her to a cabin type place and forces her to exercise and eat healthy in order to be rewarded with clothing, baths, etc.
It was a different book that is a quick read....dont know if I am hooked enough to spend money on reading the rest of the series though... Because this was defiantly not Dark/Erotica in my opinion.

This was a short quick dark read that I liked a lot. Eva Bright has been keeping secrets. Like sharing her darkest thoughts with an online stranger she knows only as Hex. It's the perfect arrangement: romance at a distance, no strings attached, and all the control. Hex is a hot sexy and mysterious and he knows everything about Eva. This was a good book that I liked a lot. Hex took charge of Eva and it made her feel vulnerable even though he was trying to build up her self-confidence by trying make her feel better about herself. The sex scenes between these two was hot as hell and I really liked both of these character's. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

This was ok....not horrible but a short story and a book 2 is to be read. Not sure if I will read the next one. I'm up in the air....the premise of the story is good and there is more to know but that will be in the next book.

This is a fabulous quick read. Once I started reading it, I literally could not stop. I'm fascinated by this storyline. Although it is outrageous and unrealistic, like a delicious slice of chocolate cake, I cannot stop reaching for another bite.
Eva is a character that I want to learn so much more about. There were too many hints of her deep, and aching self-esteem issues. What molded her into who she is on the outside? Who is Hex and what does he have planned for Eva?
It's really touching the way Hex sees Eva's inner beauty, and he is determined to force her to see it for herself as well. I really hope the author will dive more deeply into Eva's background and reveal more of her inner thoughts so we can see how Eva learns to love herself - to see herself the way I think Hex sees her.
I can't wait for book #2 - Bring it on!

Wow! Wow! Wow!
What can I say, this book left me breathless and seeking for more.
Hex, the kind of man you don’t want to meet but fantasize about anyway. The way he took charge of Eva, leaving her feeling vulnerable yet all he is trying to do, is to build her self-confidence. I see that he is trying to make her feel better about herself, desirable but has gone about it the wrong way.
The passion between the two, the way he worked her up, at the same time working up the reader. You want to hate him, in fact you hate Hex for taking her without her permission and at the same time you don’t want him to stop.
Phew! Will Eva fall in love with him? I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Delicious is the word for the book, applause to the author she had me from the very beginning, that it took all of an hour plus to finish the book.
All I can say is more please!

I love a good kidnapping but the premise that she is coerced into - didn't work for me. Neither did the fact that she seemed pretty happy to be his prisoner- not fighting him or working on plans to get away. It was more like a sweet romance than a kidnapping.
I also wish I had paid attention to the fact that this is book one of two. This isn't a complete story which is annoying in and of itself. At least this half was free.

This book was neither dark, nor erotic, in my opinion.
Sure, Eva gets kidnapped by some guy she was chatting with online, but then what? He makes her exercise, and eat healthy foods, and gives her a bath! Oh, the humanity! LOL
Didn't work for me, but that's all part of the journey as a reader.

This book is bad. There is not a single good thing about it. The characters are boring. The story is beyond stupid.

Interesting
This was a book that kept me engaged but it was way too short. Luckily there is basically another serial then a full length novel. The characters are very intriguing and I can't wait to see what happens!

I'm curious
This story have enticed me to read the next 2nd book. Well scripted, & written. Eva, the heroine should be more outraged that she has been kidnapped! She has not once thought about her job or that this guy, Hex has gone to her childhood home!!!

I did not realize this had several parts which I found to be frustrating. I will not be continuing the series. It was weird to be honest but not in a good way.

If you've read my reviews, I rate books by how quickly I read them, and how long I would remember them afterwards.
'Masterful' is in a class of its own.
Aside from the occasional typos, and editing mistakes (I had the Kindle version) this book was full of twists and unexpected outcomes! The storyline moved very quickly, and the characters evolved along with the book.
I expected some naughty sex slavery, but what I got instead was a compelling situation, with some appeal. Eva's kidnapper is hot, sensual, and brilliant. His character isn't scary or degrading, and not for a moment did I feel disgust (that all slavery books make me feel at some point). Hex was incredible. Eva was one of the most relatable, imperfect book characters that I've ever had the pleasure of reading about.
As unrealistic as this story was, I couldn't put it down, and I'm currently the proud owner of the second and third book in the series.
Do yourself a favor, and just grab a copy!

Lovely but....
As one of the readers mentioned earlier, this book should've been combined with the other two to make one . It was just separated out and didn't really feel like a phone book when I was done reading it. Nevertheless masterful is a really good book. It is descriptive without being overly so. It describes the woman who has been kidnapped by someone she allowed to know her and get to know her online . He is both dominant and all-knowing. When he takes her he already knows her and feels like she is his. As the story goes for you find out why and the level of intimacy they shared while online. It is certainly not a rape fantasy or something taboo as that. It feels more like BDSM at its finest and I can't wait to read the next installation . Enjoy

This book was a recommendation and omg it was friggin brilliant i loved the interaction with Eva and hex the control and actions they take it really makes the story so so good.
Just a quick thought half way through I was thinking all sorts was he a vampire,shapeshifter all sorts as that's how well written this book is I couldn't put it down
Realistic,Smart,sassy, emotional and hot these book 1and 2 as read them back to back was amazing this author Jesse joren can write a story so well Iam still thing about it

Do you like to read dark-romance? If so here's one for you that will positively make you watch over your shoulder. Eva is a young woman with little self assurance. Hex is an online anomaly that follows her beyond an online chat room and into her world. He begins a "relationship" with her by kidnapping her, under sedation, and wakes her up in a room where only he knows where it is and why she's there. Hex and Eva find themselves in a semi-BDSM off/on romance with no forseeable outcome between them. Masterful is a 3 part journey that keeps you on your toes. Keep reading and get # 2. You won't be disappointed.

It took me a bit to get into this but I was glad I stayed with it. Wow. With each subsequent book the story just got better and better. The build up from each book was perfect. I loved the twists, turns, and surprises, not only in the story but the ones too that came from Hex who really loves Eva. I enjoyed this series very much. One negative: please get a better proofreader. The errors slowed my reading speed and were annoying.

This is a dark romance. If you don't like that type of book this isn't for you. This book does not have your typical female character it's not your typical skinny toothpick. This female character is a plus size. With true self image problems witch I believe "Hex" is trying to get her though in his messed up psycho way.. so far I like book one. On to the next.

His story goes nowhere fast don't waste your time. It did not hold me at all it was a vein attempt at dark erotica. What a waste. People should read here books before placing them in a category like this.

I really love this book. Even though I am a Kindle Unlimited user on Amazon and borrowed both book 1 and 2, I quickly purchased them. I am having trouble waiting for book 3. I check the store for it every day.
