Keeping it spoiler free.
After reading and loving Jackrabbit, I was extremely excited for Book 2. I had some expectations, and the book exceeded them. There were even scenes that I had previously hoped would happen, only better.
The book goes more into the nitty-gritty of the emotional aspect of not only the relationship between Colt and Beau, but also their own issues and insecurities. The balance between them that they ended the last book with gets upset by people and circumstances, and it was immensely enjoyable to read them try and work through that.
Things that were teased at in the first book came into focus this time, spinning the story further in a way that only added to the characters I had come to know and love from the first part.
Burnout keeps the fast-paced style that I loved from the first book while lingering on heavily emotional scenes. I loved the balance between parts that absolutely broke my heart, only to have me burst out laughing a couple of pages later. This story makes me feel so many things - pain and joy, suspense and disbelief, and the whole time, it is fun.
I loved the way new characters were introduced. There's a lot of them, but to me, the scenes never truly felt crowded.
The racing is still hot, there's a great handle on keeping the action flowing without over-describing what's happening. The spice is hotter. Some amazing work there, and an evolution of the established physical part of the relationship that made a ton of sense to me. Some of my favorite spicy scenes I've read in recent years.
The ending had me worried in the way it was advertised before, but to me, it was worked towards the entire book. There's ups and downs, but through it all, the unresolved issues of the main characters hang in the background, and I can't wait to see how all of this gets resolved.
The formatting mistakes that I found in the first book weren't in this one, so, as I expected - just some cosmetic issues.
If you loved Jackrabbit, you'll also enjoy Burnout. I sure did. With how much I loved the first book, I am pleased to say that this is an amazing second part to the series, leaving me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next one.

I cannot put into words how excited I was to get back to these boys, Colt and Beau.
We pick up where we left off from Book 1, Jackrabbit, with Cole’s career taking a turn for the better and being signed with Liberty. And naturally, Beau goes with him to become his Crew Chief.
Because of NASCAR, they keep their relationship on the DL too, but a select few do find out and are happy for them both. Beau is the only one with the infinite ability to calm his boy and keep him focused both on and off the track.
We are graced with more Beau too! We get to experience him and his personality, meet the parents of his best mate, Sutton, who are like parents to him and accept Colt with open arms.
There is a whole other level of emotion with this book too! We get to delve deeper into the dynamic that is Colt’s and Beau’s relationship and the struggles of communication and accepting feelings behind closed doors. I cannot tell you the amount of times I was internally screaming “JUST TALK TO EACHOTHER, COLT STOP BEING A BRAT”! But then when those three words came out, I was like FUCKING FINALLY!!! And how it came about and who it came from made me all 🥹🥹🥹🥹
But then comes the ending, then comes some other revelations…..but does history repeat itself? And can we talk about the cliffhanger?!
I truely loved and appreciated that Cole was able to maintain the vibe from the first book, keep the emotion on the page, and keep the plot consistent. I am so stupidly excited for book 3!!

After I read Jackrabbit, I was captivated by these characters and by Cole’s storytelling and writing talent.
Burnout exceeded my expectations and had me on the edge of my seat (literally), giggling and kicking my feet, crying, laughing out loud, you name it. It was 0-60 from the start and a perfectly paced continuation of their story that will make you feel all of the feelings that have ever been felt.
The progression of Colt and Beau’s relationship through this book is so beautiful and I don’t think I’ve ever read a couple with this much chemistry in my life. Not only is the romance and passion there, but this story is incredible. I am not familiar in any way with racing or NASCAR, but the way they write the action and suspense is so absolutely thrilling that it did not matter, my armpits were sweating every time. Also, I can’t forget to mention the net increase of Toast inclusion and I could not be more delighted because he is the sweetest angel to ever sneeze on someone.
I’m terribly ineloquent, but the best review I could possibly give is that I NEVER review things because I have ADHD and am also lazy but I pushed myself to cobble this together because this book (and Jackrabbit) needs to be a bestseller, bitch.

After I read Jackrabbit, I was captivated by these characters and by Cole’s storytelling and writing talent.

After reading Jackrabbit, I was so excited to read Burnout that I dropped everything I was doing to start reading it as soon as I received it. The author freaking delivered with this story! It was so good! I cannot get enough of Colt and Beau 🖤
Burnout is Redline book 2 and follows Colt and Beau through their first NASCAR season as a driver/ crew chief team. Colt is still a chaos gremlin and Beau is still the steady hand that holds everything together... at least until his emotions get involved. I really loved how their story- both on and off the track- developed in this book. It turns out that Colt isn’t the only one who is a little wild. Now that Beau is back in the spotlight, this book focused more on his story- both his background as a driver and the healing journey he is currently on. Which in turn brought out Colts protective side and kind of switched up their dynamic at times. I really liked this. Their banter continued to be top notch and the spicy scenes continued to be so SO HOT 🥵
Burnout was the perfect continuation of their story and I cannot wait (no literally I need it rn) for book 3 since the lovely author decided to test our emotional stability and leave us with a cliffhanger!

I received this book as an ARC review from the Author. I have SO many amazing things to say about this book, you see Beau in a different light in this book, once the protector, now the protected but still has his stern, grumpy exterior. Colt on the other hand is still the feral, chaos agent we know and love! Both characters have such significant character development and so many beautiful moments of vulnerability, that I couldn't stop reading! This book has me holding my breath at some point, melting and after I was done... the ending... I had to scream into the VOID! This book compliments the first one so well, and honestly I devoured this book in 2 days! It has everything from spice, romance, intensity and some parts had me absolutely howling! The way Cole Beckett writes should be studied because I've never loved a book series more! I can't wait for book #3!! 5/5 stars all the way, shiny side up! 🏁

I can honestly say that Colt and Beau are my favorite MCs ever. Their chemistry is off the charts. These two are intense, messy, funny, sweet, and filthy. Burnout takes all this and cranks it UP.
We get to meet some new characters and explore Colt and Beau's relationship while racing at a professional level. As expected, wants conflict with wants, and things get really messy. And the spice is impeccable. My annotations are LITTERED with cute dialogue, pivotal moments, and spicy moments that made me gasp. I can't stress how much I loved this book.
Cole really put me through it and kissed it better, only to kick me back down with that cliffhanger ending. I'm a wreck.
And now the wait for part three begins. It's gonna hurt.

The chemistry between Beau and Colt was hot, the little bits of jealousy and possesivness was absolutely a joy to read.
Watching their relationship progress was also a joy to watch, not so much the communication, why couldn't they just communicate. But it added a bit of tension, and sexual tension.
Still not a fan of Sam but I am still an absolute massive fan of Toast and I absolutely loved how much he was featured in this book.
Also Suttons parents, loved them both, The way the accepted Colt.
The ending wasn't a bad as I thought it would be, not great but I definitely went for worst case scenario.
I cannot wait for book 3, it can't come soon enough.

PERFECTION! These two had my heart from the first book and this second one only solidified it more. I was lucky enough to get an ARC and I’m so glad! This book is truly a masterclass in character development. Colt and Beau are so perfect for each other and are trying so hard to fight their own demons to make it work. I can’t wait for book number 3!!!
