"I've earned every single thing I've got in this world, and not on my knees. "
Kendra knows what it's like to watch someone work three jobs and still struggle to pay the rent. She has spent her entire young adult life determined to do better. In a few months, the lifetime of sacrifices will finally be worth it. She will be graduating at the top of her prestigious masters program at Columbia, and finally leave her job at the diner to venture into the world of business. The only thing that could make this moment sweeter would be if her mama was still here to watch her cross that stage and clutch that diploma she's given up everything for.

When Matthew Blackwell, the infamous billionaire bad-boy bachelor, shows up out of the blue in her diner asking for a date, Kendra's world is lurched sideways. With girls lined up around the block to be his "next mistake", Matthew could have almost any woman in New York City, or possibly the world. However, Kendra isn't interested in being his flavor of the week, until he hits her in her soft spot. . . her ambition. Despite her best attempts to keep her distance, Matthew's stunning good-looks and mischievous flare keep pulling her toward him.

Will she unlock the heart of the unbreakable bad-boy or will Kendra become another victim of Matthew Blackwell's reputation?

Indebted Part 1 by Sadie Black

Kendra Cole was a college student who was getting her Master’s in Business. She was a well-educated black woman who worked hard to get thru school and make ends meet. I love the strength that Kendra shows. She is a type of girl that takes nothing off of no one.

Matthew Blackwell was a handsome successful billionaire. He just happened into the dinner that Kendra was working in. There was just something about her that he just could not resist asking her out. He found out pretty quickly that Kendra was not easy to win over and not easy to impress.

In this book you will find love, passion, new found hope, betrayal, and heartbreak. This was an awesome book and cannot wait to see what happens next. You will not want to put this book down when you start reading.

I was introduced to Sadie Black a few weeks ago. This is the 2nd book I have read of hers. She is an awesome author. She is a type of writer that can pull you right into the story and you hang on every word you are reading. I so recommend her books.

Indebted Part 2 by Sadie Black

WOW…Sadie you are one amazing author. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat. You can never guess what is coming next. You will feel like you are on one emotional roller coaster.

Kendra Cole is one strong woman. She works at a dinner and is working on getting thru college. All she wants is to make her dead parents proud. She feels like she has everything; great best friend, awesome boyfriend, getting ready to graduate, and has a great job interview lined up. How things can quickly crumble. Meeting Matthew Blackwell has seem to throw her one curve ball after another. The only question is can Kendra let go of the past and embrace the future.

It is kind of funny how hearing only part of a conversation could mess with your mind and make you think things that were not true. But to find out the truth to only find out more hidden secrets. How a few statements from Matthew’s ex can rip Kendra’s heart our completely. I so would love to see Marjorie get what she so deserves and then some.

This is such an awesome series. I love how Sadie brought the name Chuck Lawson in to the story. Almost had to laugh. Want to know who Chuck Lawson is. Well read Sadie’s book “Between her bosses”

A great love story by Sadie Black

This is a wonderful erotic romance. I will review all three parts of the series on each of the novellas review page. Books 2 is a continuation of Book 1 and Book 3 is the conclusion. (You can purchase all three books as a set now for $.99) I would snap up the set today in case the price increases soon. I read all 3--one after the other the same day. These are easy reads that move at a great pace. There are no long dragged out times dwelling on their demons--and they do have some to overcome.

It is the story of a notorious new York billionaire player who falls in love with a beautiful African-american waitress. Race is never an issue except when Matthew's ex, Marjorie, who desperately wants him back, uses it to try and scare Kendra off. Marjorie is either a very evil adversary or a psychopath, or maybe both. She does cause them to break up twice, but loses in the end.

Kendra works in a greasy spoon diner helping to pay her way through Columbia toward a Master's degree in business. She is only a short time from reaching her goal. Her mother killed herself in her early 40's working 3 jobs trying to keep her children in a safe neighborhood and food on the table. Her father was killed when Kendra was young.

The big question is why does a billionaire playboy who could have any woman in New York state, show up at the lowly diner asking Kendra to accompany him to a gala fundraiser at his Hampton's estate. What is his connection with Kendra? This is the question that is not fully answered until near the end of Book 3. The title gives you an idea, but no clue as to the answer.

He comes to the diner to tell her something and falls for her the first time he sees her--no makeup, her hair a curly mess and wearing a dingy waitress outfit. He is the most handsome man she has ever seen and is drawn to him immediately. And no matter how hard she tries to not fall for him her virgin body betrays her every time he gets close to her. He does not tell her the secret he came to the diner to tell as he is afraid of losing her.

They have the most incredible sex and a lot of it. There is no bad language, but a lot of descriptive sex. It is not gratuitous, but helps bind them together as they both seek to let go of their pasts.

Book 3 is Act 3 of the story, so I will not give away any spoilers.

I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves a great love story with some fabulous sex.

If you're reading this review then you're thinking about investing your time in reading this series and wondering if it'll be worth your time. I am here to tell you, I think it is...if you can get past the first book and the first half of the second book.
I knew entering this series, I couldn't just look at them as three separate books. No, I had to go in this thinking this is one whole book. It is the only way that this book/series a real chance.

So review for part 1:
Starting with the title, I've noticed that a lot of books being called indebted and I immediately think about Pepper Winters' Indebted series. But as I read the book, I realized it had no correlation and I was beginning to think why is this called indebted. As I read this, it reminded me more of 50 Shades, and if you read 50 Shades you know how annoying it is to be feeling like you're rereading 50 Shades with different character names and physical appearances. Now, this book did branch of from it when Matt laughs at Kendra (that would NEVER happen in 50 Shades) and it was here when I decided I did not like Matt AT ALL! Then everything felt like it was going so fast, and then I had to realize it was. Everything that happened was in the span of 2 days. I really felt like Sadie Black could have added more of a backbone to Kendra to kind of space things out a bit. Kendra is depicted as a prideful individual, however, she wasn't very prideful, in my opinion. To me, a prideful person would be a bit more...harsh, I guess is a good term for it for the lack of a better term, before giving in. That would have given the book that more unf! Although, I know this was meant to be a short story, the story line for this does not fit one of a short story, because then it's like "what? how does all this happen in two days? what?" and it doesn't allow you to really get into the book. Maybe if it jumped around a bit by saying "a few days later" or something. The ending through me for the loop with Brianna and Matt, which I loved because it made me want to read the next book. (I feel like I didn't give too much away with that so you should still be intrigued to give it a try) So with all that said, I did give this part of the book 2 stars. It just wasn't good. However, it is necessary to read to understand part 2, if it wasn't I wouldn't have read part one. However, don't let that discourage you because it does GET BETTER.

Please do not go past this point if you have not read part 1 because it might spoil it for you.

If you're at this part of the review, you have read part 1 and are wondering, should you even bother to go on? The answer is yes. Part 2 surprised me a bit, but not by a lot. From part 1, I hated Matt because he laughed at Kendra for being a virgin. It was uncool, but that helped differentiate it from 50 Shades so I give Sadie kudos for that. Furthermore, I started to dislike Kendra for her not playing up to her prideful role. To be honest, she had NO backbone. She was kind of a pushover if you think about it. Easily swayed and fell in love with the guy who laughed at her for being a virgin within 2 days. I had to remember that which that made this all crazy. He upset you one night, and you fell in love the next. Clearly, Kendra ain't listen to mama when she said "don't let a kiss fool you" because LAWD. The turning point of this book came really towards the end of the book when Majorie comes back into play which is saying a lot and you'll see why when you read it lol. However, this is when you figure out why the book is titled what it is and everything starts to make some sense. Now, this book is over the span of another 3-4 days which is crazy. Part 1 and 2 lapse over 1 whole week. With all that being said I gave this part of the book a 4, but in reality I would give it about a 3.5 but it was good enough to round up to a 4. So would I suggest reading two? I mean, you might as well if you read part one already lol.

Please do not go past this point if you have not finished part 2 because I can't guarantee that I will not spoil it for you.

If you're at this part of the review, you have read part 1 and 2 are wondering, should you even bother to go on? The answer is YOU CAME THIS DAMN FAR YOU MIGHT AS WELL FINISH THIS SERIES! Stop all that playing lol. In part 2 we witnessed Kendra not having a backbone until the very end, which she kind of keeps up for a while. This is the ONLY part in which I can say that Kendra was a prideful person. Her personality made sense. This part of the book I definitely would have recommended to people because this part was good. You could see the progression of Sadie Black in this part, and if this thought process and progression had made it to the previous parts of this book, this whole series could have been a hit! There's really nothing I can say about this part except that people should definitely read it, out of the whole series this one was definitely worth the read. With that being said I gave this part, 4 stars with no hesitation. It was really enjoyable.

Don't go past this until you read part 3. There's really no use to read the rest to be honest unless you want to see my final thoughts on everything.

Can't believe you made it this far to my review, well congrats because I didn't know if I was going to make it either lol
I give the overall series 3 stars (technically is 3.33 but you get the point). When you look at it as a whole, this series/book was good, not great, but good. It's a nice quick read and I think it was enjoyable once you push past some of it. When you look at it part by part though, they were very hit or miss. The characters sometimes didn't make sense with how they were supposed to be portrayed. Especially Matt, though I didn't talk about him much in my review. He literally went from hot to cold to hot again. He went from deep interest and defending to mocking in one day then to being the guy everyone loves the next morning. Made no sense, so I'm thinking he'll always be hot and cold but no, he just remains the alpha male everyone loved and it just threw me off because then him mocking her made no sense. To which I feel like it was placed there to differentiate from 50 Shades because really...helicopter ride? daddy issues? billionaire loving poor girl? saving her from traffic? tying up during sex? like control and person to submit? If this doesn't scream 50 Shades idk what to tell you.

Besides that it was good.

Glad it was free!

You spend most of the book with Kendra at work having a bad day. Then in walks this billionaire, I thought she was going to be different but of course not. Matthew tracks her down and asks her out just for the date to turn crazy. Then he apologies and screws her just so she can walk in on her best friend and him all cozy. The little bit that she overheard was hardly enough to get all upset over. Then again for the two to be chummy seems hard to explain seeing he's a billionaire and their both broke waitresses. Too plain and way too short to be anything but a free read.

I received this ARC copy in exchange for a honest review. I loved this series,I hope the author starts a new series for Brianna(she needs a billionaire love story too). This series is full of love, forgiveness & deliverance!! I love the journey the author takes for Kendra & Matthew to let go of the old so they can embrace the new. Of course we can't forget about the smoking hot love scenes!! Sadie Black is a wonderful author & I can't wait to read another book by her.

It was a okay read, the problem I had with the story was if Kendra was a virgin how come with all the unprotected sex she had and never got pregnant . We know even if your not a virgin and was not using any type of protection and having sex the way they were you would be pregnant .It didn't mention if she was on the pill and he never used a condom. Then his mommy issues never came up, why he had them?

Secrets

No matter what secrets you have when you start a relationship. You shouldn't keep them as you continue the relationship. Something or someone will always let the cat out the bag. Good thing he did his for the right reasons

I read the series twice over 2 months. I enjoyed the approach of sharing the struggles of life as a intelligent independent African-American woman.Interracial relationships can be a challenge but LOVE over comes all challenges.

A hot and steamy romance. I loved the fact that Kendra is a level headed educated woman who kept her vcard for the right one to come along and Matthew was so worthy of having it. A short and easy read that I'll recommend.

I downloaded this book ages ago but finally decided to read it recently. I had conflicting feelings about this interracial romance, so I'll cut right to the chase.

Kendra is a hardworking, educated black woman who is finishing up her master's degree and is working as a waitress at a local diner to support herself in the meantime. Nothing is exciting or confusing about her life until Matthew Blackwell, the handsome bachelor billionaire walks into the diner and requests that she goes out with him. It's a good enough set-up, especially considering I wasn't expecting much, but from there it went downhill for me.

Let me start with what I disliked first so that I can end this on a positive note. First, Kendra and Matthew's first date ended horribly with him attempting to have sex with her. She ended up declining his advances because at the age of twenty-six she's still a virgin. There's no issue there for me, however, it seemed wrong on so many levels for him to come back apologizing a day or so later and she gives it up to him then. After that, they're in love. And it's only been a week. That's not to say that there's a time limit on how and when people fall in love, but I was just waiting for a reason with a little more depth than Matthew being handsome and charming in order for Kendra to give her body to him so quickly after remaining a virgin for twenty-six years. Not only that, but also the fact that she had unprotected sex with him and there was so much of his seed being left with her, but no signs of pregnancy, annoyed me a great deal. The issue of depth and lack thereof remained an issue for me throughout the entire book.

Second, there is a scene where Matthew and Kendra's best friend are in an interesting position, which causes some conflict because Kendra jumps to a few incorrect conclusions and promptly distances herself from Matthew. The thing is, in my opinion, she had every right to be upset. Actually, there were a couple of situations in which Kendra reacted in a fairly reasonable manner, yet her reactions were portrayed as major character flaws when it is revealed that Matthew really does have a “heart of gold” and isn't only fulfilling a fantasy of being intimate with a woman of color or one who isn't part of his normal circle of peers.

Third, it wasn't difficult to assume that Matthew is a jerk and even when he is being kind and loving towards Kendra there still felt like there was an ulterior motive. He had secrets and, to me, it felt like there was more than what he revealed. When the story ended I still felt like he was full of it. Nothing about their relationship as it was portrayed in the book gave me the feeling that they would live happily ever after. Perhaps this is why I don't (or maybe shouldn't) read romance novels often.

As for the positive, I feel that the author is a very good writer. She was able to capture my interest from the beginning and I believe it was more her style of writing that kept me reading than it was the actual story. Her words flow so well that it kept my attention. I really enjoyed the erotic scenes because I thought they were well-written and easy to imagine.

Indebted had the potential to be a great story, but it fell short for me. I rate it a 3 out of 5 stars. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either.

Blue eyes.

I loved the story line. It wasn't just sex all the time. The spell checker and sentence structure needed to be checked better. The main character was so believable. I felt like you were writing about the new age women.

I liked the book. Kinda. It's just that I couldn't emotionally connect with the characters and had a hard time connecting with the rushed plot. It didn't help that I didn't much care for Kendra, considering the entire story is told from her perspective.

All the key components to make this a great story were there, but it didn't seem cohesive. I like a good interracial romance and that's why I gave this a try. It had a great back story to link the two main characters. A hot billionaire with a heart of gold. An ambitious young woman. A loyal and feisty best friend. A total raging lunatic for an ex girlfriend. A loving family dynamic. So I got to see a glimpse of some great side characters.

Despite having all of these elements, the story just wasn't a hit for me. I can see why people like it, but it seemed to miss its true potential in my humble opinion.

Ok

The couple left me wanting a little more. She went from a 26 YOA virgin to giving it up to someone in a matter of days. And what happen with his mom, she is mentioned but never introduced . And how does her brothers feel about the ending . Just felt like something was missing.

I'm Glad it was free

There were names of characters in the wrong place, and it didn't flow as well as it should have. I had to go back and reread several times to figure out what the writer was trying to say.

This book had some interesting concepts but very poor writing style and not a lot of depth. Characters fell in love after two hours and sex. The whole time I kept waiting for it to get better

With the exceptions of some typos and the wrong name being used in certain spots, it wasn't that bad of a read. It was some nice fluff to get yourself out of a reading funk.
