Kit Morgan, aka Geralyn Beauchamp, has been writing for fun all of her life. When writing as Geralyn Beauchamp, her books are epic, adventurous, romantic fantasy at its best. When writing as Kit Morgan they are whimsical, fun, inspirational sweet and clean stories that depict a strong sense of family and community. 'His Prairie Princess' is the first of the Prairie Brides books and the first in the series of a long line of stories about Clear Creek, Oregon. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west! Get to know the townsfolk in Clear Creek and come sit a spell!
NOTE: Hi folks, it has come to my attention there is an erotica book floating around out there written under the name Kit Morgan. IT IS NOT MY BOOK! I do not, and never will, write in that genre.
When she discovers her mother who was abandoned by her father and forced to work as a prostitute is ill and on deaths door, Sadie abandons her home and goes to her. But as she is nearing her destination outlaws hold up the stage coach and kidnap her.
Harrison happens upon the stagecoach shortly after the outlaws have made their getaway and sets off on their trail. But with no gun there isn't much he can do except rescue Sadie and head into town.
Sadie settles into life in Clear Creek nursing her mother back to health with the help of the town's doctor and taking visits from Harrison who is smitten. But she is also the only person who can identify the outlaws and they've decided to do her in before she recognises them.
His Prairie Princess is a very short novella. It's sweet and innocent, presumably christian romance. I actually enjoyed it a lot but be warned, it's closer to Gene Autrey than Clint Eastwood.
It's also available for free from Amazon at the moment.
Eh, it was good, but So. Cheesy. There was a fun plot about the heroine being kidnapped by ruffians and trying to find her prostitute mother (doesn't sound fun at all, I should have said, rather an interesting plot), but the romance was screaming clichééééééé!! His Prairie Princess was a short story, so I shouldn't have been surprised at that or at the lack of characterization, and indeed I wasn't and for a free Kindle freebie short story, it was rather good! I enjoyed reading it just for fun and would recommend it to those who like novellas set in 19th Century USA. Wouldn't recommend for younger readers though; the outlaws try to rape the heroine twice and the second time was more suspenseful and detailed than the first. It was rather awkward, really, and we could have done without it.
The coolest thing about this book was that it was set in Oregon, and I happened to read it while vacationing in Oregon! :) I love coincidences like that!
2 stars for me. 3 stars for those who like Inspirational-Christian romance.
I did not know this was Inspirational romance. It’s not my kind of story. But if you like that genre, it’s nice and sweet. There is the big misunderstanding - she overhears a small part of a conversation and assumes the wrong thing - so that gives her angst for a while - too contrived for me.
One of my problems with inspirational fiction is the Lord solves problems, not the characters. That happened here with two important problems. There were frequent references to prayers and the Bible.
Sadie is a sweet loving damsel in distress. She goes off alone to find her biological mother and gets kidnapped. Harrison a pig farmer comes to the rescue more than once.
DATA: Narrative mode: 3rd person. Story length: 172 pages. Swearing language: none. Sexual content: none. Setting: Oregon Territory 1858. Copyright: 2013. Genre: Inspirational Western Romance, Christian romance.
6/4/2019: This is the type of story that I often enjoy. I can't quite make up my mind at this point whether it's a bit melodramatic or if it's just not taking itself seriously, but I'm reasonably sure it's the latter. (I think more overt humor needed to be included to pull this off more convincingly. Minus 1/4 star) It's a nice light read, but the romance is definitely instalove, unfortunately.
Kit Morgan's books are clean. The characters occasionally pray, but I remember twice hearing something along the lines of "OMG," which is unfortunate, as Kit Morgan's books are described as "inspirational." (minus 1/2 star)
6/5/2019: I liked the ending, but would have liked more explanation for a certain story line at the end. (minus 1/2 star) I didn't like the presence of the lead-in to the next book. (minus 1/4 star)
Trigger warning: The villains talk about having some fun with a victim, and eventually,
I think 3.5 stars is a fair rating for the enjoyment I experienced while listening to this book. It's not literature, but I had fun. I would have been happier if I had been more convinced about the romance aspect. I would consider read another by this author when I'm in the mood for something very light.
I previously gave The Christmas Mail Order Bride by the same author four stars. See my review. I liked that one a bit more than this one.
His Prairie Princess in book one in The Prairie Brides series by Kit Morgan. I loved this sweet romance. Morgan writes such beautiful stories about the town of Clear Creek in Oregon Territory in 1858. I think I fell in love with the handsome hero Harrison Cooke. I enjoyed the idea of a British man being on the prairie. “He was so different from the other men she was familiar with. His looks were striking, of course, but she’d met handsome men before. No, Harrison Cooke had something the others didn’t. It was a quiet strength, wrapped up in polite manners.” I liked Sadie, but Harrison stole the show for me. A lovely sweet romance.
Within the first few pages, Sadie Jones won my heart. I bonded with her instantly. She was head-strong, stubborn, and a girl that showed fierce independence. That's my kind of heroine!
Not to mention, I love the time the book is placed in. The time frame is 1858 and takes place in beautiful Oregon.
It starts out with a bang when a a gang of halfwit outlaws kidnaps her and then... I'm not telling! You'll have to read it to see what happens. But the plot thickens and I was glued to the pages.
I loved Harrison. He was muscular, had brown hair and dark eyes. And his accent... So dreamy! I just fell in love with him instantly. Not only is he sexy, but he is the sweetest. He's the perfect hero! And after reading the book, I totally understood the title! : )
One of my favorite paragraphs that made my heart melt: His eyes had a look she'd never seen before. A determined look. A strong look. One that said he would not be letting her out of his sight any time soon. Sadie was a dead woman. Oh, not in a literal sense. But she was in danger just the same. Harrison's look, in that instant, spoke something even someone as inexperienced as shecould recognize. It was so profoundly primal and masculine. A look that said one thing loud and clear. You're mine.
With endearing characters (I loved and adored Grandma and Doc!) and a fantastic storyline, villianous bad guys, a handsome hunk...romance readers will be treated to an awesome read. There was such sweetness, love and deep-abiding affection throughout the book. It's a sweet and tender romance that will have you rooting for a happy ending for everyone involved.
This love story is breathtaking and made me wish that it would never end. It was such a fun, exciting, and thrilling read. Everyone will enjoy the blooming romance between Sadie and her leading man, Harrison. I give this book 5 stars without a doubt!
I wanted to start at the beginning of the series. I've read around the series I am certainly familiar with the characters but I wanted to see how they all meet. This is the story of Harrison and Sadie. Sadie is the daughter of a rich cattle baron and a harlot (yes you read that right). Harrison is a hard working pig farmer supporting a drunken stepfather and two dubious stepbrothers. In this book you meet many of Clear Creeks fun and often quirky residents. A delightful start to what I'm sure will be a fun clean series to read.
I recently did a binge read weekend with Ms. Morgan’s Mail Order Bride Ink series. I loved every moment spent with these characters and decided to go back to the very beginning. I met several of these characters when they were older and established in their marriages and in their towns… but now I’m seeing how they all started. If His Prairie Princess is any indication, I’m going to have a good time getting caught up on the love, the people and the shenanigan that captured my reading heart in the other series.
His Prairie Princess is a short story, an introduction of sorts to the rest of the Prairie Brides series. Sadie is headstrong, stubborn and in a great deal of trouble right now. She’d left home, unannounced, as to her true destination which is Clear Creak where she’s learned her birth mother is near death. Sadie is determined to find her and bring her home if at all possible. She didn’t count on robbers making off with not only the mail bag but with her as well. She could put up a good fight on her own – if she had a gun, and if she wasn’t tied up like a hog. Rescue is her only hope from the plans of these men… and that rescue is at hand, as well as her future should she be brave enough to grab hold of it.
Harrison had ridden out to get the mail – mail that would prove his brothers innocent and set them free from prison. He had a good idea of who was really behind the crimes they were charged with, but he needed proof. Hopefully, in that mailbag are the pardons that signal his brothers’ return home. Instead he discovers a robbery. His intent was only to go and grab back the mailbag. His brothers lives were at stake with what is in that mailbag… but he also discovers a young lady who he had no choice but to rescue as well. Harrison didn’t know it yet, but that young lady is his future – just as soon as he can get her away from those criminals.
I enjoyed my time in His Prairie Princess. Harrison and Sadie are a unique couple, both faced with some difficult decisions in the days ahead. Their romance is quick, but obvious to anyone with eyes. I liked them very much, got a taste of the town’s harpy, and saw the very beginnings of Clear Creek in this one street town with growth on its mind. I had a good time and I’m now off to pick up the next story in this series. If you enjoy Western Historical Romance, then you would probably enjoy the Prairie Brides series. It’s full of interesting characters, a taste of life on the prairie and a sweet, loving couple to enjoy.
Language: 4 1/2 stars. No bad words but there were a few instances of taking the Lord's name in vain. Abuse: 4 1/2 stars. Alcohol use definitely mentioned, some drunks. Lust: 2 1/2 stars. Mentions of whores, an illegitimate birth, 2 instances of attempted rape, 2 instances of inappropriate touching, some lustful desire Book rating: 3 1/2 stars
This is technically a reread, but first time reviewing it.
What I liked: the clean humor, the importance of treating even undesirable people as neighbors, Harrison.
What I didn't like: all the cringy sex-related stuff. I'd forgotten just how much of it was in this book. Kit Morgan's books are usually a lot cleaner than this. Granted most of it was related to the fact that two men lusted after Sadie. But there were a few unnecessary touches between Harrision and Sadie that I did not approve of in the least.
I would not recommend reading this book if you are under 16.
Kit Morgan brings the past alive in this first story in the Prairie Brides series! Her words are magical, filled with humor and strong emotions that the narration of the amazing Michael Rahhal brings alive with his brilliant knack for voices! Sometimes it is hard to believe it is the same person! Sadie is on a quest to find her real mother. But her journey took several surprising turns before she finally made it! She was on a stage that got held up and the bandits took her with them. Fortunately her knight in shining armour saved her before anything bad happened! And thus the romance of Harrison and Sadie but also a hugh lesson in compassion and acceptance along with several others! I adored every word and cannot wait to go visit Clear Creek again! Well I am off!
I liked this book very much. However I have one question. Why did it take Harrison so long to completely release Sadie from her bonds? That part was hard for me to understand. He would cut the ropes that bound her legs; but forget the ones that bound her hands. However the rest of the story I liked. I especially liked how Sadie held no animosity towards her Mother and how others began to forgive her too. I also liked how the town busy body, Irene Dunnigan was made human and background was provided to help us understand her behavior.
In the long run it seems this book is a story about forgiveness. I liked it.
Omg I cannot believe I have had this wonderful gem of a book sitting on my kindle and have not read before now. His Prairie Princess is my first book to read by Kit Morgan and it certainly will not be my last. I love her writing. Sadie and Harrison have found a home in my heart as well as even some of the secondary characters were all great. When I am in need of a Wonderful book Kit Morgan will definitely be a go to author from now on. His Prairie Princess was just a phenomenal book. I really enjoyed this book a Historical Western at its finest. Kit Morgan is now on my list of Favorite authors.
A great start to this series! Sadie has gotten herself into a bit of trouble. On a search to find her mother, she manages to get kidnapped by outlaws. Harrison has been waiting for the mail to come to receive a letter to help pardon his brothers. When the outlaws stole everything from the coach, Harrison trail after them only to find Sadie instead of the mail he had been looking for. After he rescues her and helps reunite her with her mother, his appoints himself her protector. As the days pass, feelings ignite and each falls for the other just a little bit more. There’s more action to come though and it will be an ordeal before they can finally be together. Sweet romance 3.5 stars
Unexpected danger in the form of being kidnapped off the stagecoach. Sadie then finds herself to be in love with the man who rescued her from the outlaws. This was a fun book to read! There are many heart touching moments as Sadie reunites with her birth mother. Harrison is quite a gentlemanly hero. The bumbling step-brothers, while dangerous are a bit funny. I loved the scene before dinner and of course the rescue!
Loved this story. Kit did the unthinkable...had a harlot and a baron meet up and have a baby. The baby turns into a beautiful woman. Sadie is the woman and she is on her way to find and meet her mother when her stage is robbed and she is taken captive by mongrels. Here enters her knight in shining armor...pig farmer...he rescues her from the bandits before they can harm her in any way. I don’t want to give any more of the story away...great read!
What an incredible start the this book series! True wild west moments, romance, a damsel in distress and all revolve around incredibly well written characters. Sadie finds herself in a situation that she can't must pray she can get out of. Harrison needs to get that mailbag that was stolen during the stagecoach robbery and finds Sadie instead. I couldn't put this story down and can't wait to see what happens with Colin Cookes story too.
I read this book because it would fulfill a requirement for a reading challenge and it was free. It was okay but not really my cup of tea. Pretty cheesy in places. A few times I had to roll my eyes. I should have known by the title but his referring to her as Princess drove me crazy.
Sex: attempted rape, mother is a prostitute Language: none Violence: yes but not too graphic
Managed to get through this book but didn't enjoy it too much. It seemed like an ok plot.. However, in the heroine being abducted, there is spots of the kidnappers discussing what they're going to do with her and an attempt to do it. It was more descriptive than I think was necessary. It might bother some readers, just so you know.
I loved this story from the first page to the end! The action was great but the humor was what I loved the most! A love story sure to be remembered for a long time. Great job Ms. Morgan can't wait to read more!☺
She's runs away to find her birth mother. Her stagecoach is robbed and she's kidnapped. A young rancher rescues her, they fall in love but have a few adventures before the wedding.
This is set in the Oregon Territory, with outlaws and quirky townspeople. The author develops the characters well, and keeps the story moving with excitement and a touch of comedy. She also sets up for the next story in this series.
Wonderful heartwarming story, the characters came to life through the words on the pages. I recommend this book and the author to all my friends and family. I will be buying as many as I can get. And on paper...
Looking forward to the rest of this series. This book is so entertaining. There’s no lull in it. It’s fast paced, so if you want something you can read in a day or weekend, I recommend this first book of this series.
Sadie set out to find her birth mother without waiting for her father to escort her west. A stage coach robbery starts a long sting of complications, not the least of which bring Sadie close to abuse and death.
Regency meets old West! A heroic Englishman rescues a cattle heiress. Both are instantly smitten, well she is, after she comes to. A self-righteous biddy, and ne'er-do-well step-brothers, a kindly doctor and his wife, and a town posse make for a lot of action!
The narrator was great, as usual! (Do I say that every time?)
Sadie was on her way to meet her birth mother when the stage she was traveling in was robbed and she was taken hostage. Harrison was looking for the mail bag the robbers had taken and found Sadie. He rescued her but things just keep happening. An engaging book.
