At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

Book 8: Friction - Reeve & Leary

Friction (stand-alone book 8) follows attorneys Leary Michaels and Reeve Holloway as they set out to serve on opposing sides and a malpractice lawsuit. To throw off her opponent Leary uses seduction only to have it backfire when Reeve plays along and rocks her world.

The settle on being fuck buddies in and out of the bedroom, courtroom and many other non-conventional places. But as trial nears, having agreed on not letting case get in the middle gets increasingly difficult and opens the door for rumors, lies, deceit and friction…

Eight words to describe Reeve Holloway: Aloof, commanding, elusive, private, successful, jaded, closed-off and vulnerable.

Eight words to describe Leary Michaels: Strong, vulnerable, loyal, sincere, naïve, smart, compliant and compassionate.

Friction, told from dual POVs, offers the perfect blend of interesting plot, engaging characters and off-the-chart smut. It has the perfect ending with a very steamy epilogue.

Addictive plot! Excellent story-telling! Scorching sex scenes! Wonderful heroine! Scrumptious hero!

Yay! I read another smexy times book.

Chicago commercial photographers

I totally think I should be able to quit my job and just read smutty books for a living since I totally class up some romance reviewing.

Chicago commercial photographers

The look my husband just gave me when I told him that not withstanding...
Chicago commercial photographers

(He would be in the doghouse for that shit except this book might have saved him, since I have plans for him later)
Chicago commercial photographers

I saw this book getting some high reviews from my Goodreads friends, so I thought I might finally get to read a smutty book that I would read correctly and not automatically one star because of stupid shit.

It's about lawyers so I was thinking I would probably look smart and stuff by reading it.
Then I remembered I hated lawyers.
Blood sucking bastards.

Leary is a young lawyer who has climbed up to partner in her law firm. She was hired and then advised by a tough ole broad who knows that sometimes you have to use what the good lord gifted you..in order to win.
Then Leary takes a case that is personal to her. She is fighting for a mother who has a special needs child to raise and was doing her best to provide. Her way of providing was working as a topless dancer until a general surgeon decides that he can make a few extra dollars by doing some plastic surgery on the side..and he messes up her breasts. Badly.

Then Leary finds out he opposing counsel on the case is just as rabid to win as she is.
"I don't like this jackass nipping at my heels like a little Chihuahua who thinks he has balls the size of Texas."

Leary has met her match in Reeve Holloway. She pulls some shit on him and then he flips it on her in a way that could have gone so very badly...but Reeve is not one to be played.

This is intriguing to me as well as a bit appaling. I've never come up against a woman who is so sure of her own sexual identity and what she wants. It should feel liberating, but it makes me feel slightly displaced.

These two characters!!!!
Now there is a shit ton of sex in this book.
Chicago commercial photographers

And it's hot as balls. I think I had to wring the old granny panties out a few times. (that's an image you guys won't forget)

During the first part of this story I was fanning the kindle trying to get it to cool down.

There is a bathroom scene that is probably the best smexy scene that I've read in a book so far.
Chicago commercial photographers

Then I got to thinking, is sex all these two do? I wasn't complaining or nothing but as lawyers I wouldn't have hired either one of their horny toads.
Then the author of this book whooped out a 180 degree turn and I was vested in this case.

In fact every time I thought that the story was going to leave something open that would have left me ticked off the story came back and cleaned it up nicely.
I loved this little book.
I loved these two characters. I usually hate the standard misunderstanding that happens in romance books, it gets so tiring that you know one is always coming and basically how it is going to work out. So characters actually admitting that they can stick their heads up their arses and be human actually pleased me.

Chicago commercial photographers

Now if you guys will excuse me...I have some stuff to do.

I'm picking Kathleen's review for the spotlight on this one. I think her updates for this book are the reason that I went seeking it out. Kathleen is one of the very nicest reviewers on GR if you don't follow or friend her then you are missing out. I think she always seems to know when I'm in a pissy mood and she will send some little statement my way and then even though it cracks my face I end up smiling.

“Tell me you adore me.”
“You know I do,” I say from a place deep within my heart.

“You know I will,” I say as warmth spreads through me.

When I found out that there will be another book in Legal Affairs series, I knew I would be reading it. I loved Matt and Mac's story and am glad to say that this one was as good. What is it about Sawyer Bennett's writing that I love it so much? As usual, kickass heroine, smart, good, sexy hero, well written story, scorching hot sex, some fun and a bit of emotions.

Leary and Reeve are both lawyers, they both work on the same case, just on opposite sides. She is on the plaintiff side, while he is the defence attorney. Leary initially uses her sex appeal to one up Reeve, their encounters are charged with sexual tension, until they finally give up and become fuck buddies. Yeah, yeah, we all know, it's never enough. From lovers to friends, unnoticeably they find themselves in a relationship.

But let's not forget that professionally they are supposed to be enemies. How far are they willing to go to win the case? Will they put their relationship at risk? Especially if the case is personally important to Leary and Reeve is beginning to understand that simply doing his job can hurt her too much.

Both Leary and Reeve were very likeable characters, it was a pleasure to read their interactions, particularly bedroom ones, which were extremely hot! Other characters were great too, especially Ford, whom I saw as an amazing friend and would gladly read his book.

This can be read as a standalone and is written in dual POV. Highly recommend for those who like sweet, steamy, real life romance "in suit".

This was my first book by Sawyer Bennett and I know for sure it won’t be my last. “Friction” was a very entertaining read that completely caught me off guard. It wasn’t my first court room romance, but it certainly was one of the best I have ever read so far.

Leary Michaels, once white trash grew up with nothing. She worked hard and graduated in the top ten percent of her law class a Stanford. Her life changed considerably when she was hired to work at one of the biggest powerhouse firms, ‘Knight & Payne’. Five years later, Leary is not the same woman who felt so out of place when she was hired as a lawyer at the prestigious firm. Now she’s a successful woman, she has power and she has the looks and the brains. She knows who she is and definitely what she wants.

“I took risks, I lied and cheated sometimes, and I used my female charms over and over again to daze and confuse my opponents.”

Leary has a new case, the biggest case of her life. This case means everything to her, she’s determine to win no matter what and she will do anything to blow her opponent mind, to crush him even toy with him a little if that's the case.

description

Reeve Holloway is Leary’s opposing counsel, works for the big corporations and all he cares about is to win. He is drawn to Leary from the moment they meet. Even if she’s the most confident and sexiest woman he had ever met, he loves the power he obviously has over her. Leary is smitten with the gorgeous, sex on a stick lawyer from the start. He has the ability to piss her off, but she can’t lie to herself – he also excites her like no other.

“You know, you started something in that elevator. Your intention then might not have been for what just happened, but you did intend to arouse my sexual interest. And you, Leary Michaels, have no idea the beast you’ve awoken with your antics. You’ve invited me to come out and play, and now I’m ready to play.”

description

The sexual tension between these two is too much, so they eventually start something physical, no-strings attached sex, agreeing to maintain a professional relationship in court. Everything is good until not only they start to have feelings for each other, but the case they work at gets complicated.

This was a very sexy, enjoyable read. The pace of the story was just perfect and the enemies to lovers aspect was handled really well. Leary and Reeve's banter was simply fantastic. I loved both these characters. They were truly endearing from beginning to finish. Leary is hardworking, smart, determined, feisty and sassy. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and I loved that about her.

“Tell me you adore me.”
“You know I do,” I say from a place deep within my heart.
“Tell me you’re going to fuck me silly after you finish working tonight,” he says, now grinning big.
“You know I will,” I say as warmth spreads through me.”

Reeve was the perfect match for our heroine. Charming and protective, domineering and caring, Reeve was simply delicious. He’s as successful as Leary and even if he works for the ‘bad guys’ he’s compassionate, considerate and kind. I loved the dynamic between these two. The sexual tension and their chemistry were absolutely wonderfully done. Needless to say, I enjoyed all their sexy encounters. The sexy scenes were hot as hell, really well written and left me wanting more. Just smocking! Loved these two in and out of bed.

What I truly enjoyed it is how the author presented the case and all the legal procedures and that’s way like I mentioned above, this was one of the best court room romance I’ve read.

If you enjoy the enemies to lovers trope, a sassy heroine, a charming hero, entertaining dialogue and a perfect mix of steam and emotion, then this one might be the perfect read for you.

“We’re not in fuck buddy– dom anymore, are we?”
“I don’t think we ever really were, baby.”

* * * * *Spoiler Free-99 Cents SALE!!!
I have a confession to make. I have a tendency to indulge when I shouldn't. If I wish to have that little extra sweet or spend a bit more time chatting with a friend instead of putting my head down and focusing on a task at hand...well, my inner child will sometimes pop up and do what it wants...

If I find myself engrossed in a book, that inner child has a field day...

Laundry gets put off to another day...
Grocery shopping may not happen so peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are my dinner...
Oh, and sleep... that necessity... that thing we are supposed to do every night so we can function the next day...Forget about it...

Because with this book...the characters, plot and sexual tension called out waking me at 3 AM obsessed and need to find out what was happening next.

Sawyer Bennett's new Legal Affairs entry had me all stirred up. My need to finish it was so strong, I pulled over, parked at the beach and finished it while in my car this afternoon. When I am telling you this book was great... I am not kidding.

We are given the perfect set up; two people driven, accomplished and at the top of their game.
With attorneys who fight on opposite sides, we have a front row seat to their courtroom drama and the behind the scenes manipulations.

Our gal, Leary is the attorney devoted to the underdog. She comes from the classic situation of trailer-park ... and all that brings to mind. There was poverty, hunger and a dedicated mother who would do anything to make sure her children would be cared for... Leary experienced life's harsh treatment to those less fortunate and it made her driven to change things for those like her. She studied and excelled, going through school at the top of her class and then on to Law school at Standford. Upon graduation, there was only one law firm she wished to be part of, Knight & Payne. The "David Firm" fighting all the insurance, major companies, and powerbroker "Goliaths".

Knight & Payne only handled the little people; the unwashed, the lost and downtrodden...the clients who actually needed guidance through the legal system in order to be heard. The founding attorney, Midge Payne had it engraved proudly on the plaque "Come, any poor soul needing help."

Leary caught Ms. Payne's eye and she took her under her wing... paying forward the insights and knowledge she had acquired under the tutelage of another influential attorney during her rise to fame and success. For Ms. Payne broke all the glass ceilings... she was a single woman in a man's world of Litigation... working all of her assets and owning the results. There was a fine art to pushing boundaries between men and women... and Ms. Payne became the Michelangelo of this... She understood the difference between men and woman and exploited the assumptions the power-brokers had by underestimating her... And with Leary, she guided her through the maze... with her evolving through the years...fully formed and lethal.

It is this Leary who is up against Reeve on a case which is the sum total of everything Leary has fought for .... this case is so personal to her, she will not let herself even think of not winning.

Reeve is his own force. He works for a firm which is obsessed with billing. This firm represents the insurance companies which will not negotiate and pay judgments to victims; they represent Doctors you hope never to meet... and they relish in abusing the loopholes of the law to make their cases. Is Reeve heartless; no...but he is of the school; when you work for a firm, you represent the client to the best of your ability. You follow the path the firm dictates...

So with the mandate to put forth a time-wasting motion as that translates to more billable hours... cha-ching, he finds himself at the courthouse to defend this motion against the attorney of record, Leary Michaels ... whoever he may be...

That is all I am going to give you... Yes, I know that is a big whoop of nothing...But oh, my friends... wait till you start this book... getting caught up in all its sexy, smart goodness. Because this is like those old Tracy/ Hepburn movies but on sexual steroids...

These two characters are just combustible from their first exchange... and it only intensifies from there... and this is not a little kissy and push here and there... This is full On-Hotness throughout. It is current day sexual play, all types and it just works so well. It isn't forced or out of the blue... it all meshes seamlessly... like this is their lives.

Oh, added bonus big time is the plot, the secondary characters and the huge heart of it all. The legal detail will hold you and make you stay up late to find out what is going to happen. The inner-personal growth and angst between these two is spell-bounding as well.

So in case, I haven't been clear...I. Loved. This. Book.

Please do yourself a favor... grab it, read it asap and relish in the joy of it all.

4 Sleeping with Enemy STARS

I enjoy a good court room romance. The tension and the smarts and the wit just keep things interesting and things moving fast, if it's done well. Ms. Bennett did just that!

Leary Michael, a top litigator with the law firm of Knight & Payne, is a woman who knows how to use all of her assets to win. Learning from the best, her mentor and boss, taught her to...

“Make men notice you, and when you’ve fogged their senses with lust, slap them with your brains. Make woman want to be like you, but be so confident in your abilities that they will inevitably fall flat on their face.”

Leary is a pro at this and snares her opposing counsel, Reeve Holloway, with one of these tactics.

The tension and attraction between Leary and Reeve was great and made for a really good read.

 photo image.jpg1_zpsmqfm5wqm.jpg

Leary and Reeve cross boundaries as their attraction grows and they give into their sexual desires.

 photo image.jpg1_zpsbay5t4pn.jpg

These two just can't get enough of each other and I loved the risks they took to steal a touch, a kiss, a grope...they were so deliciously naughty!

Of course, their desire morphs into something deeper while in the court room they're clearly on opposing sides of the battlefield.

“Will we be able to open ourselves up to sex, emotion, and genuine affection after a hard day of trying to tear each other down?”

Reading this was like one giant bomb ticking down to the final moment. It could have gone down in so many ways and I was glued to my Kindle as I needed to know!!

“I possessed her and she consumed me.”

I recommend this book especially if you love the forbidden, some tension and angst and a healthy dose of hot, sex!

There was NOTHING that I did not like about this read, I LOVED every moment!

The story line was really good for me. I have sat on a jury so I understood just what was going on.

I adored Leary, she was an amazing character with a heart of gold. I loved how she went from an ordinary person to the spectacular confident and sexy lawyer that she became. Her back story was very sad and with it she stole my heart.

Leary is a lawyer and her most recent case she has taken over has hit close to home for her, so she will try to win this with claws and teeth. When she makes a research and finds out who is going to be the defense lawyer, she works on a plan to use in her favor.

I took risks, I lied and cheated sometimes, and I used my female charms over and over again to daze and confuse my opponents.

Reeve is completely fascinated by Leary since the moment they meet. Especially that moment will intrigue him like no other and there's no turning back after the moment that Leary had challenged him. Two can play that game and Reeve is an alpha male that won't take no for an answer, even though Leary is a quite strong and dynamic woman. The sexual tension is off the charts and their relationship will take another route other than professional.

They may be opponents in the courtroom, but the chemistry between them will bring them close and things can become complicated for the case they are both working. Will they mess things up in or out of the courtroom? Or maybe both?

Will we be able to open ourselves up to sex, emotion and genuine affection after a hard day of trying to tear each other down?

Friction was exactly what I needed at that moment and for that I'm so grateful! I was in need of a sexy story, because my recent reads were without sex and my inner whore was craving for it. And Friction totally made up for it! The sex was hot, the tension between them scorching and damn, those two were on fire!!

I liked also the fact that it wasn't just sex, but the plot was also quite intriguing. While they were fighting over the case and their relationship, about what is right and what is wrong, what were their limits when it came to the ethics of their job and also the brewing feelings between them. It was just so lovely to watch, but also had some kind of suspense and I trully loved reading their story.

He's my opponent on this case, and we can't change that. He's going to fight me tooth and nail when we get in that courtroom, and I'm going to fight him back just as hard. That's the way our legal system works.

I did felt bad at first for Ford, because I could see that his feelings were deeper for her, but I'm glad he seemed to give them the green light. I'm just looking forward to reading now his story, because he seemed like a cool character and deserves his own HEA.

Also, I loved how smart and powerful the heroine was and even though she had a rough past, she never seemed to whine about it. I admired her and I loved how she gave control to Reeve when it came to their intercourse. It shows how sometimes women who are strong on the outside, actually need someone to take care of them. I loved both characters so much. And let's take a minute to applause Reeve for being an excellent lover.

Every touch from her, every sound out of her mouth, every nuance of her day. It all became mine. I possessed her and she consumed me.

I would definitely recommend this one to my friends who like a good erotic story plus those who like to read about lawyers and cases. Trust me it wasn't boring the least, on the other hand, it was a really captivating story and the case and all the secondary characters will make you livid. Looking forward to reading more from Sawyer Bennett! :)

This is part of a series, but can also be read as a standalone.

Make men notice you, and when you’ve fogged their senses with lust, slap them with your brains.

Leary Michaels has landed herself her ultimate dream job, learning from the best she transforms into a unstoppable force.
“Cheat?” I asked her with a smile.

“If necessary,” she said without cracking one.

“Lie?”

“In the right circumstances,” she confirmed.

“Use my womanly ways?” I asked with a grin.

“Always,”

That is until she taunted Reeve Holloway, a man who can give as much as he can take. But it wasn't just the sneak peek he got in the elevator, the woman had the brains to top off the ultimate package. Temptation never been so much fun.
“Good, we’ve just entered fuck buddy– dom. May the odds be ever in our favor.”

It's a sticky game they play, balancing out their personal life together in every possible manner while trying to keep their professional lives separate as they battle it out in a case that is near and dear to Leary's heart. It's a recipe for disaster, but the benefits outweigh the fear they have of being burned in the end.

Friction was such a fun book to read, it is smart, witty and so very sexy. I enjoyed it all from the games they play, the banter and the sexcapades, right down to the courtroom battle; after all smart is sexy in my opinion. It was a feel good story with a whole lotta heart behind it all, adding more to the characters that just a friends-with-benefits relationship. Plus I think everyone who reads this will want an office just like Leary's, it's perfect for those private moments. Recommended to all my friends who wants a feel smexy-feel good read.

When I worked in Ireland I used to work in Law. Sounds impressive, doesn't it? Well, now, I wasn't the Lawyer or the Barrister but I did have a very important role.

I do like a strong heroine and Leary sure is one. Well able to stand up for herself. I liked Reeve too.

I do enjoy reading all the legal terms. Maybe in another life I might have been a Lawyer.

Sex scenes are hot. This author sure knows how to write a good sex scene.

"Guess I'll have to use my fingers. the old fashioned way."

Nothing wrong with that, Reeve.

I was just coming down from a high of reading some Crime/Suspense books with very little sex scenes in them so, in one way, I thought there was a little too much sex here. LOL. Did I really just say that?

I really do wish that Goodreads would give us that "half star" that we could add to our rating.

Leary Michaels grew up with nothing, except the love of her family, so when she lands her dream job as a defence attorney at one of Raleigh's top law firms, best known for helping those in the most need, she goes from a frumpy nobody to an incredibly sexy, clever and driven woman.

Always one to use her feminine charms in the courtroom, it's not until she meets her match in Reeve Holloway that she questions whether she is as tough as she thought she was.

"Not only is Leary the most confident and sexiest woman I've ever met but she uses her confidence and sex appeal like a weapon."

Reeve is her opposing counsel, he works for the big corporations and normally doesn't care much for the other side of the story, it's his job to win, and he does it well.

With the two of them going up against each other, you know that you are going to be in for a delicious helping of unresolved sexual tension, and it's pretty clear from the get go that Leary and Reeve want in each others pants. The trouble is, can they be fuck buddies and maintain a professional distance in court?

"I have her promise. She won't hold my job against me.
I have her promise. I hope she keeps it."

I loved both of these characters, Leary was a feisty and sassy woman who knew exactly what she wanted, but she was compassionate and kind. Reeve was domineering when he needed to be but also had a pure heart of gold. Although enemies in the courtroom, they make a fabulous match out of it and I loved watching their transition from friends who fuck to lovers who really care about the other.

There was a fantastic mix of chemistry, steam, humour and emotion and I really think Sawyer Bennett explains all of the legal terms and procedures in such a way that I can understand the technicalities without becoming confused or bored.

An excellent addition to the Legal Affairs series.

Friction is a standalone erotic romance, told in dual POV.

"You've invited me to come out and play. And now I'm ready to play."

Friction was a nicely paced, erotic, courtroom romance. Leary Michaels has worked hard to get where she is, from trailer park to the courtroom, she is intelligent, confident and feisty, she knows what she wants and is not afraid to reach for it. Her current case puts her up against Reese Holloway. The attraction between these two is instantaneous, and all though they know it isn't the best idea, they cannot seem to keep their hands off of each other.

description

While they may be enemies in the courtroom, these two are scorching hot when they are in the bedroom. With a high stakes case looming in the background, their relationship has them walking a thin professional line. Can these two maintain their ethics, and responsibilities to their clients, all while continuing their extra curricular activities between the sheets?

"We’re not in fuck buddy– dom anymore, are we?"
"I don’t think we ever really were, baby."

An entertaining read, filled with orgasms and legal jargon, I enjoyed this one.

...you, Leary Michaels, have no idea the beast you've awoken with your antics. You've invited me to come out and play, and I'm ready to play.”

I have a little secret...*whispers* I have an unhealthy addiction to legal dramas...comedies....romances...whatever. You name it, if legal procedures and trials are involved, odds are I've watched it or read it. So when I saw a new Legal Affairs book from Sawyer Bennett, it was a no brainer to read. This is only my third book by this author, and admittedly the other two I've read by her left me a bit underwhelmed. But having heard so many amazing things about her Legal Affairs series, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go. And boy am I glad that I did, because Friction was absolutely fantastic!.

Leary Michaels gets the chance of a lifetime when she's hired to work at one of the biggest powerhouse firms, Knight & Payne. Coming from trailer park beginnings and sporting a polyester suit from Walmart she feels out of place, until the main partner and her idol gives her the advise that changes everything.
Make men notice you, and when you’ve fogged their senses with lust, slap them with your brains. Make women want to be like you, but be so confident in your abilities that they will inevitably fall flat on their face.”

And so awkward, shy trailer trash Leary becomes sexy powerhouse Leary; using all her feminine wiles to win her cases. But she's not just sexy and sassy, there's a brain on her and that just made her that much more fun to read about. Now she's handling the biggest case of her life; not so much in the form of money, but meaning. It means everything to her to win, and she needs to crush her opponent. Too bad her opponent is the sexy Reeve Holloway, a defense attorney working for the client that hers is suing...and determined to give as good as he gets.
How can one man be so vastly different from the others I've had? How can he bring me so quickly to dizzying heights? How can he fully entertain and annoy me at the same time? And how can I actually be starting to have feelings for a man who should be my sworn enemy?

Friction is a hot little legal romp that was entertaining from beginning to finish. Intertwined with humor and with incredibly endearing characters, there wasn't one page that I didn't enjoy.

Leary and Reeve burn up the pages together. I loved the enemy lust thing they had going on along with their banter. Reeve is every bit the alpha to Leary's sassy and together they were this perfect dynamic. They're stolen kisses along with much more risqué endeavors during the case was utterly delicious. They're on opposite sides in the courtroom but they sure set off some fireworks outside the courthouse too.
I possessed her and she consumed me.”

While I loved the romance, I think what ultimately made me enjoy this as much as I did was all the legal proceedings. You can clearly tell that Miss Bennett is in her element writing about this and it jumps off from the pages. The last 20% of the book was easily my favorite part. I loved reading about the case proceedings and how it all resolves. And I loved the way that Leary and Reeve handle themselves in the case that changes everything for them.
Tell me you adore me.”
“You know I do,” I say from a place deep within my heart.
“Tell me you’re going to fuck me silly after you finish working tonight,” he says, now grinning big.
“You know I will,” I say as warmth spreads through me.

A highly recommended read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a book I’ve read in one-sitting. This is a book I completely let myself lost in. This is a book that completely caught me off guard. This book is a must read!

I’ve read a few books by Sawyer Bennett now, and I must say, every time she writes a romance related to the lawyer’s world it’s a complete success for me! I knew about the hotness factor of her stories, the lady is quite talented when it comes to write sexy scenes. Smoking hot sex scenes. But mixed with a world she knows well—she’s a lawyer— the plot and background story, the chemistry between her characters, she takes it up to an all new level.

This book was just perfect in every way!

Leary Michaels once white trash, worked really hard to get where she always wanted to be. At the top.
She learned from the best at Knight and Payne’s law firm, her mentor being a true legend and mystery in the business. On top of being now one of the best lawyers, she also masters the use of her gender assets to crush all her competitors.
Crushed, floored, bewildered… There is no word to express how Reese Holloway feels when he discovers the sexy woman that nearly blew his mind off in the elevator with an impromptu stripping act is in fact his opponent in the case he’s working on.

The story starts off as one of the nicest trope ever in the romance genre, an enemies to lovers one.
The banter alone is worth reading Friction. Leary was the perfect heroine, smart, fierce and determined. She sure knows how to strike but she probably was a bit quick to judge Reese Holloway.

The man may be all polite and slick in court, but underneath lies an alpha ready to pounce.
I loved that in Reese’s character. He was a perfect balance of the good guy and asshole and domineering in the bedroom. Whenever he was interacting with Leary I kind of wished I was a lawyer too. Named Leary.

Tension, lust, and white hot chemistry were delivered in the best way possible, literally getting you frantic with the need for release. And oh how Sawyer Bennett did deliver in that department! Quick and rough encounters between meetings, secrets dirty touches in the court room, a lot of their encounters were basked in a kind of forbidden romance haze and it certainly added to the story.

What truly wrapped it all up for me, making "Friction" the perfect read, was that I felt entertained and curious all through the book. I loved witnessing the main characters’ relationship naturally evolve into something more, but more than that, I really wanted to know the outcome of the background story, the case Leary and Reese were fighting against. It was as important and enjoyable for me as the romance part.

To conclude, I couldn’t stress you enough to pick up this little gem if you are fan of the enemies to lovers trope, sexy romance and bantering jousts. Friction is definitely a must read!
(Friction is book #8 in the Legal Affairs series but is a real standalone, you can read this one now! )

This is my first book by Sawyer Bennett (even tough I have many of hers in my 'to-read' list). I remember everyone reading her books and I don't know why I didn't decide to start my read with them. However, now I am sure this will not be the last one! I am so excited because this is my first ever ARC and I am glad it resulted to be a good start.

So, Friction is a novel that belongs to Bennett's Legal Affairs series and it is the story about Leary Michaels and Reeve Holloway (two very-professional-and-powerful lawyers that are working on the same case and happen to be very attracted to each other).

How can one man be so vastly different from the others I've had? How can he bring me so quickly to dizzying heights? How can he fully entertain and annoy me at the same time? And how can I actually be starting to have feelings for a man who should be my sworn enemy?

I really liked the author's writing and how she developed the story and its characters. I am new with books related to law and its workers but I really enjoyed it! Of course, the characters find themselves in very difficult situations (because of the case and their feelings for each other) and it's fantastic to read how they struggle and how they take very important decisions, not only because of their profession but also because of the love they feel.

Obviously, I enjoyed the amazing chemistry between the protagonists, SO HOT! I mean, they really have some good, dirty-talking, sexy times ;) And it's fabulous and funny because both (Leary and Reeve) are very strong-minded characters and they still have some cute, hot and sweet moments.

"Hey."
"What?" she whispers.
"I adore you."

Therefore, my rating is 4 STARS because I really enjoyed this book and its characters. I am really excited to read more of this series and I totally recommend Friction if you are into two strong-willed lawyers falling in love and having some good and also some difficult times. Enjoy!

So what happens when you have two career driven attorneys who are adversaries in the courtroom but are in agreement when it comes to the bedroom? So will one case decide the fate of Leary Michaels and Reeve Halloway as they go head to head against each other? Will this one case cause a friction in their relationship?

#friction1

Friction by Sawyer Bennett chronicles two opposing attorneys who are brought together on civil case that means a lot to Leary Michaels. When Leary takes on a case that she has personal ties with, she makes it her mission to get justice for her client and that no one or nothing will stand in her way. Using her feminine charm of brains and seduction, she can easily deduce if the opposing attorney is thinking with his brain or pants. But what Leary didn't expect was to meet another attorney who knew how to challenge her sexually and intellectually. Reeve Holloway was the perfect match for Leary. He was smart, attractive, and cocky as hell. He knew that he affected Leary the same way she did for him. So when they finally decided to act on their sexual attraction, they decided that they can be fuck buddies and they will not let their case affect them or the trial. Leary and Reeve knew to keep their sexual relationship separate from their case. But as they continue to spend more time with each other, their feelings for each other begins to intensify.

#Friction3

Reeve knew his client was an asshole and that Leary was taking on this case because she believed on the integrity of justice. But in the corporate world of insurances where money, power, and intimidation talks, Reeve walks in a fine line of what is morally right. He must make a choice that could totally blindside Leary and could possible cause a friction in their relationship. They say justice is blind, so can Reeve turn his back on his career and do the right and honorable thing? Will Reeve and Leary be adjourning to the bedroom? Or will Leary be finding herself dismissing Reeve?

#Friction2

So what is my final verdict? Well, there is not much to say but I absolutely loved this book. Right off the opening pages, I was addicted. Ms. Bennett did an amazing job integrating layers of justice, romance, steam, sexiness, heart and humanity into the story-line. Sawyer allowed readers to look beyond our judgmental eyes. She allowed them to really feel for each of the characters especially when it came to Leary and her client. I love when a book can captures your heart and Friction did just that. I was instantly drawn to Leary's passion for her client and what she was willing to give up even if it means her law license. So if you want to read a book where passion, humanity, and love prevails, then I highly recommend you to read Friction. Also, I have to testify the Sawyer Bennett has written several steamy moments between Leary and Reeve that will have you attesting that beyond a reasonable doubt that these two were guilty as charge a perfect match for each other.

***4,5 "Black Lace" stars from me***

Wow!!! Sawyer Bennett i love you!!!
I have already met this woman's writing with the Cold fury series and i absolutely fell in love with her stories...
So, why i'm shouting my admiration for her???

I have to admit that i don't like very much the stories with lawyers, but S.B. made me see lawyers with a different eye and now i want to read all of her previous stories in Legal affairs series.
As i said above... i loved the writing, i didn't get bored not once and it made me anxious about the legal case that it was taking place in the court and of course i wanted to see more outside of the court!!! ;)

Here we had to deal with two lawyers from the opposite sides.
Leary Michaels and Reeve Holloway...
They were opposites attorneys in a big case.
Leary represented a woman that in a way her life was at stake and Reeve was representing the assurance company.
They both were very good in what they did and they both wanted to win the case.
But Leary is envolved sentimental in this case and she will do anything to win...

So, their first meeting was a little bit anorthodox... and it started the fire that would follow...
The fire of passion and the desire...

Leary wanted to test Reeve and she wasn't expecting Reeve to answer back and rise her interesting on him...
Now, they have to fight for the benefit of their clients and at the same time they have to stay away from each other since it's unethical to sleep with the enemy...

But the pull is too big to ignore it and soon they will let the fire burn them!!!

“You know, you started something in that elevator. Your intention then might not have been for what just happened, but you did intend to arouse my sexual interest. And you, Leary Michaels, have no idea the beast you’ve awoken with your antics. You’ve invited me to come out and play, and now I’m ready to play.”

Will they manage to stay just "fuck buddies" or will they become much more than that???
Will they manage to keep the case outside of the bedroom???
And when the things got tougher on the courthouse, will they let their feelings get in the way???

So, you don't have to do anything else than to read this book if you want those answers...
I already got them and i'm very happy about that!

"Will we be able to open ourselves up to sex, emotion, and genuine affection after a hard day of trying to tear each other down?
It seems impossible to me, but not enough of a mountain that I’m not willing to try to climb it."

Leary Michaels was a dynamic carreer woman who doesn't hesistate in front of anethical actions to do her job good!

She had a difficult background and she is bound emotional with this specific case.
Her carreer is her life and sex is just that. Sex.
She had a few small relationships in the past and she had a fuck buddy before but she doesn't have any interest for something more.
Before she even met Reeve Holloway, she was deciding to play him to see how he will react and when she is staring to think that she has Reeve in the palm of her hand, he did something that left her shocked and with so much desire over him...

So, she needed to stay away from him, but she couldn't...

I liked very much Leary. She knew what she wanted and she never hesistated to take it.
I liked the way that she was defending Jenna and how she was acting in the courthouse.
She was very clever and she was having a big heart... that Reeve manage to stole!!!

"How can one man be so vastly different from the others I’ve had? How can he bring me so quickly to dizzying heights? How can he fully entertain and annoy me at the same time? And how can I actually be starting to have feelings for a man who should be my sworn enemy?"

What can i say about Reeve??? He was absolutely gorgeous!!!
And i don't mean his looks, but his brain, his attitude and his heart.
He was having also a big heart and i felt so sorry for him because he was trapped...
Trapped from his line of work and his ethics...

He fell so hard for Leary from the first moment but he loved his job and he was about to do it well no matter what.
At some point the torture of his mind and heart, just broke my heart!
I also loved that even though that Leary was in the opposite side of him, he was feeling so much respect for her as a lawyer and as a person and he didn't stop himself to seperate the right of the wrong even though that it didn't suit him!!

I admire him for all those reasons...

"Leary has her heart invested in this case, and I am bound and determined to steal victory from her. This, in my opinion, spells disaster for us down the road—a thought that has me slightly nauseated at times.
The trial date is less than a month away, and as it looms closer, I feel like there’s a giant bomb ticking down, moving us closer and closer to what I’m thinking could be the end of us.
And that is not something I want."

I also wanna say that i really liked Ford and Jenna.

In some point, i felt so sorry about Ford! He was a nice guy and he did so many things about those two!!!
As for Jenna... She deserved retribution for what happened to her and i really liked that she was fighting for her son even with anorthodox ways.

I won't tired you further, i just want to say to you that this book was worthying very much and i enjoyed the ride that offered me...

Hope you're gonna try it and to like it also!!!
I need more of Legal affairs!!! Maybe Ford would be the next???

I am completely surprised. This is my first book of the Legal Affairs series and I already know not the last. I was so surprised, where it comes from, this vast and thorough knowledge of the field of law? And for some probably know, but the author is a real lawyer! This is very different from Cold Fury Hockey series. A very nice surprise.

Friction

About the plot: Leary Michaels has perfect career path, but now must faced with a legal case that touches her personally. She is determined to win and get rid of her own guilt in this way. Her life was not easy, but now she has everything under control. She has learned how to fight using not only her mind, but also feminine attributes.

Reeve Holloway is a man who is satisfies with career as a defense of big companies and earning big money. He does not identify with rules conditions in the his company, but has goals in life and truly committed to them. But his world trembles when he met this particular woman.

They face each other on court and bend the rules of ethics, because the chemistry between them is so strong that they can not try long to fighting it. Giving themselves pleasure and become fuck buddies. But, seriously? Quickly it turns out that the feelings are much more serious and love blooms.

“We’re not in fuck buddy– dom anymore, are we?”
“I don’t think we ever really were, baby.”

But how to reconcile a common relationship with the struggle for everything in courtrooms? How far they are willing to go to win and bend decency? And whether it destroy their chances for love?

Final thoughts: The beginning of the book and their first meeting is spectacular. This encourages enough to read that you can not break away. Very likeable heroes. She is a kick ass woman and is not afraid to bend decency to get what she wants. And he despite the beginning of speechless, also shows strong personality. He will not let her control him. And then chemistry explodes.

It is a perfect balance between sexy and legal affairs. You have here a lot of very hot scenes, but also, and perhaps most of all matters related to court case, which is performed during the story. This topic is equal with romance in this book. I think that sometimes it is even more important than the relationship, but these two issues are intimately linked. So instead of the usual scenes at home, we have a hard fighting in courtrooms and even hotter erotic scenes.

“We’ll get caught,”
“So what?” he murmurs, the tip of his finger now running up and down my folds. His gaze is pinned to his hand between my legs, lustful fascination filling his eyes.

This has created an electrifying and a great mix for me. So much so that I'm mad at myself that I did not read these books before. I thought I already know everything, and the author surprised me so positively that, I definitely have a plan to read more of her books.

***Quick Review:***

Series: Stand alone, but can be read as part of the Legal Affairs series.
Grade/Tag Tabs: Contemporary, Office Romance.
Release Date: October 27th 2015.
Main characters: Reeve Holloway is thirty-two, he works for a large law firm that defends the rich and big companies. Leary Michaels is twenty-nine, she effectively climbs up the career ladder and knows how to use her strengths. She wants to make a difference for normal people, who can not afford lawyers.
Secondary characters: Here is a very nice character, mutual friend, Ford. Gives a lot of good moments and is an interesting character to develop.
Steamy: Yes. OMG. It has some of the hottest scenes ever.
Sensitive topic:
Love triangle:
Cheating:
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

Next in the series? Nothing sure. But Ford deserves his book. So...
maybe Ford and Emma? I have a feeling that yes.

For who I would recommend? For someone who likes to read books related to the law, combined with a really sexy moments.

4.5 Sexy Stars

I regret getting involved with someone that was supposed to only be a casual fuck, and because she’s so amazing, I now have feelings involved. I regret being the biggest idiot on the face of the earth for not recognizing that it’s impossible to be in bed with your enemy and not understand that someone is going to get hurt.

To say this book was a pleasant and wonderful surprise would be an understatement. I've read more than a few Sawyer Bennett books but this is my first centered around lawyers and the complications that arise from that. Damn, have I been missing out!

Leary Michael is confident, sexy and not afraid to use it in the courtroom. Her current client's trial is the most important and personal of her career and she plans to win by any means necessary. Reeve Holloway is an up and coming attorney at a take no prisoners firm and taking Leary's client down in court could mean a huge boost for his career. Given the fact that Leary and Reeve's chemistry is off the charts from the beginning, it doesn't take a genius to predict the super sexy is about to go down.

Going into this, I half expected a story based almost entirely on sex. You know, one of those books that pretends to have a real plot but really just uses the plot to add more sex scenes. Not the case in Friction. The sex was plentiful but never got to the level of cheesy, thank gawd, and it also never took away from the story.

Though both characters had the best of intentions in keeping their personal life separate from the trial, unfortunately that was an unrealistic goal from the beginning. Even if neither Leary or Reeve used any underhanded tactics in the pursuit of victory, how was it not supposed to get personal?

“This case is more important to me than any case I’ve tried in my entire legal career,” I say softly. “And Reeve wants me to lose it. He’s going to try to make me lose it. How can I want to be with someone who wants bad things for me?”

Sawyer Bennett spent the first part of her professional life as a lawyer and it shows in her writing. The case itself was one of my favorite aspects of the story and I have to admit to a certain giddiness when

I highly recommend Friction for anyone in search of a hot as hell legal romance. Fingers crossed Ms. Bennett has a few more books in the works featuring the lawyers of Knight & Payne. If I ask nicely, maybe even Ford?

So sooo hard to write a review for a book that you absolutely adored, but I'm going to try...

I have loved all of Sawyer Bennett's books (especially her Carolina Cold Fury series), but this one, this one was utter perfection! I can't believe it took me 4 days to read this (how can that be? Maybe work got in the way...) because not once did I want to put it down! From the very first page she had me hooked, and my fingers couldn't swipe the pages fast enough!

The plot in a (somewhat) big nutshell:

Leary Michaels, pretty but nondescript, born on the other-side-of-the-tracks 24-year-old brunette fresh out of law school, lands her dream job working for the legendary North Carolina law firm of Knight & Payne.

Leary...
 photo 91f25150-12d0-4c8b-8338-01ff4b7225f4_zpsmzoidfw1.jpg

The founding partner, mysteriously reclusive 60-ish Midge Payne, has built the entire practice on helping individuals, particularly the downtrodden.

Midge...
 photo 81e276da-dc84-4f1d-8d75-269aed47868c_zpsmusa6klj.jpg

No representing big bad corporate America in this firm. It's all about the little guy. Midge wants to see Leary use all her assets (not just her brain) to win cases, and over the span of 5 years, now junior partner Leary has turned into a super confident, stylish, secure-in-the-power-of-her-sexuality attorney. There is no case that she thinks she won't win, no opponent that she can't beat, no trick that she won't use to win. And the case she's working on now, about a young woman horribly disfigured from a breast reduction surgery, hits particularly close to home for her. This looks like a slam dunk case, except for a minor annoyance in her way--namely the opposing counsel, super studly 32-year-old Reeve Holloway.

Reeve...
 photo ee0fc765-9dc7-4bac-a1b8-1e00487cd381_zpsjv90mbsj.jpg
Reeve works for the firm of Battle, Carnes, and Pearson, and this is one of those firms that represents corporate America, and charges enormous rates for that privilege. Reeve is representing the doctor in this case who performed the surgery; or should I say he's representing the insurance company who will have to fork out the money if he loses the case.

Anyway, Leary decides to 'size-up' the competition on the way to the courtroom to argue against Reeve's motion to dismiss the case. Reeve and Leary have never met before, but Leary did some research and knows what Reeve looks like (and she's impressed). Reeve, however, thinks Leary Michaels is 'some guy', and isn't prepared for the seductive sneak attack (involving stockings and garter belts and let's just say it is one hot scene...) that Leary pulls off in the courtroom elevator. Leary thinks she has Reeve pegged as a man of no action, but boy does she get a comeuppance!

The bows were red, but you get the idea...

The rest of the book involves the relationship that starts out as a secret no-strings-attached affair and turns into something so much more. But will the deeply personal-to-Leary case (and it's outcome) come between the two? How could it not? Will Leary expect Reeve to risk everything because of his attachment to her? Would Leary do the same for Reeve?

There is so much chemistry between Reeve and Leary--I swear my kindle was about to overheat! My god, the physical connection that these two had....yum. And I absolutely loved, loved, how Sawyer Bennett made me care for these two. At first, I wasn't too keen on Leary. I kind of felt bad for Ford, her boss. (Once you read the book, you'll know what I mean. I'd like to see him get his own book.) And I don't usually like my heroines to be super confident. So it was a slow warm-up to Leary. I did end up liking her, even though she did some things to Reeve and expected a little too much from him....ahh, I don't want to give anything away!

Reeve I loved from the get-go! Handsome, smart, sexy, and alpha (loved how he was able to control Leary when she thought she was in control!) I thought he acted more mature and more reasonable than Leary most of the time. But yowza, did they have the set-the-sheets-on-fire chemistry!! Oh god, that scene in the restroom...
 photo 43d48562-be73-4a2b-abd0-303753e32157_zpsetf7juhi.jpg
This has to be Ms. Bennett's hottest couple to-date!

Don't want to say anymore, don't want to give anything away. You know, I don't usually like to read books about lawyers, or doctors...or billionaires! Guys in suits don't usually do it for me. But Reeve in his suit? *swoon*

This story was fast-paced, filled with enough details (even the stuff about the law was interesting) and supporting players, and of course the chemistry between the H/h was off the charts! If you're a fan of Sawyer Bennett you're going to love this one. If you're a fan of erotic romance you'll love this one--it has a good story to go along with all the heat! I think Ms. Bennett hit this one out of the park--5 big stars!

No words needed...

Every time I'm ready to read a book from Sawyer Bennett, I'm always nervous. After reading as many books from her, I'm always wondering how she is going to surprise me.

Friction didn't disappoint in the slightest! With her Legal Affairs series (Mac & Matt books - Legal Affairs Boxed Set: Volumes 1-6), this is without a doubt her best book to date! My fav for sure.

You have all the element that makes a good book with a special Sawyer's touch: Bold lawyer heroine + cocky handsome lawyer guy + sassy banter + sexy/sexual scenes = HUGE WINNER

Leary Michaels is a woman who's ready to use all her charms to win a case. 5 years ago, someone advised her to be more confident and that had helped her right until now. She is free minded and she is a woman with a good heart.
Reese Holloway is a lawyer with a dirty mind. When he first met Leary, the poor guy has no chance to resist! Leary is such a tease but be sure who you do it to

description

All their banter was such a delight. Leary and Reese make no prisoners. These two gives and takes as much as the other! Of course they are quickly very much attracted and even if both are explicitly specific about the status of their relation, you can't run away from feelings.

The little bonus of Friction was how the author mixes pleasure and business.

"How can one man be so vastly different from the others I’ve had? How can he bring me so quickly to dizzying heights? How can he fully entertain and annoy me at the same time? And how can I actually be starting to have feelings for a man who should be my sworn enemy?"

Leary and Reeve are both lawyers and they share a case as opponent.
How is it possible to develop a relationship and still be partial?

"Everything about her became important to me. Every touch from her, every sound out of her mouth, every nuance of her day. It all became mine. I possessed her and she consumed me. But for this stupid fucking trial, my existence would be absolutely perfect."

Leary takes the case very seriously and even a little personally. Reese has an ethic to never lose a case. You can see the struggle he is facing. You are left wondering how these two are going to find a common ground.
From their involvement in the case to the steamy moments, there's not one time I wanted to put this book down!

“We need to talk,” she says softly. “We need to fuck,”

All my friends know how much I love Sawyer Bennett in my eyes this fabulous lady can do no wrong from sports love stories to legal love affairs and Friction is another fantastic legal read.

Leary Michaels and Reeve Holloway are on opposite side of the law, fighting a case that is very close to Leary's heart, how far is Reeve willing to go to win and destroy Leary in the process.

Leary uses her female charms on Reeve on their first meeting and every time they meet outside of the courtroom after that ends up in some electrifying sexual situation anywhere these two do not need a bed.

As the weeks go by and the relationship changes from f#ck buddies into something serious. What will happen when the case comes to trial? Can they survive when one wins and the other loses?

I loved everything about Friction great characters Reeve bossy and sexy, Leary sexy and the biggest heart and Ford is hot and a great friend (I want more Ford PLEASE).

This has everything you expect from Sawyer Bennett hot sizzling romance, legal suspense, plenty of fun and some emotional moments.

ARC kindly provided by NetGalley for an honest review and it was my pleasure to read this.

The jury has decided........Friction was legally wonderful!!
 photo Friction_zps1xfpz62d.jpg

Two feisty lawyers who excel at their craft.
Two lawyers who meet on opposing sides of the table and have an intense sexual attraction.
Two lawyers that decide to become f*uck buddies because that's all they need from each other.
Two lawyers that maybe have met their match in and out of court.

Leary Michaels is trying the most important case in her life. One that has a personal meaning to her. She does whatever it takes to win, even if it means putting on her girlie charms. Reeves Holloway loves life and he's a damn great lawyer. But what happens when he meets a woman who gives as good as she gets? At opposing sides, these two like to win but what happens when their sexual attraction overrules their need to be professional and unbiased?

This book was beautifully executed. The law proceedings were interesting and very realistic. Considering the author is a lawyer, she nailed the subject matter completely. I loved that Leary and Reeves were both strong and smart. I loved that they had a sexual attraction to lover’s story. I wouldn't call them enemies; they were just strong personalities that in the end complemented each other perfectly.

I fell in love with Sawyer Bennett’s Cold Fury Series and have now become addicted to her books, so of course I was ready to jump into Friction. If you are a fan of sneaking around, stolen moments and forbidden love this book is for you. I loved those moments and trust me there is a ton of hotness, but when I learned Leary’s motives my heart was sold, too.

Leary is an up and coming attorney, at a young age she already made partner due to her willingness to refuse defeat at all costs. She is also a beautiful woman who is used and willing to use her womanly charms to get her way. That’s how her and Reeve first meet, when she is playing/screwing with him before their moment in court.

Reeve isn’t used to a woman like Leary and despite it being a horrible idea cannot walk away from her. Leary and Reeve begin a friends with benefits relationship, the only kind of relationship Leary does, while they work as opposing councils on a big case. Leary and Reeve have to decide what sacrifices they are willing to make to keep each other and still maintain their ethics.

"There are some people you risk everything for."

Leary is a fantastic character, she is strong-willed and highly motivated. Reeve is a little straight-laced, but it was the perfect balance to Leary. I love how he was captivated by her and saw her for who she really is. I loved when Leary was able to actually open up to Reeve. The story, like their relationship started off smoking hot, but turned into so much more. I am already harassing Sawyer Bennett for more books for the side characters. This is a super fun new series and I can’t wait to read more!

Another provocatively passionate and seductively sexy page turner by Sawyer Bennett. I can't believe I hadn't read any of her Legal Romances but I'm rectifying that error ASAP.

From the very start of her career, Leary Michaels wanted to make a difference in the lives of individuals, not large corporations, to help the downtrodden get a fair shot. Mentored by the famous recluse Midge Payne to use all the tools at her disposal, including to hone in on her feminine charms, she’s climbed the ladder at Knight & Payne. After five years of bringing justice to 100% of her clients, she’s banking on her skills and reputation to help with the most important and personal case she’s ever worked on. She will allow nothing to get in her way of success. What she didn’t foresee was the equally capable and seductive defense lawyer she’ll be up against.
“Make men notice you, and when you’ve fogged their senses with lust, slap them with your brains.”

Reeve Holloway is struck speechless when he first lays eyes on the most self-assured, confident and fiercely sensual woman he’s ever met. He quickly regroups showing Leary he’s not a man to be trifled with. The playing field is irrelevant, whether it be the bedroom or the courtroom. Whatever her game is he’s up to the challenge and them some. Even if it’s totally forbidden because they are opposing counsel and they’re both out to win. But what will it cost them? Are they willing to risk everything for love?
“You, Leary Michaels, have no idea the beat you’ve awoken with you antics. You’ve invited me to come out and play, and now I’m ready to play.”

Being a Sawyer Bennett book I anticipated I would enjoy it, but it surpassed my expectations. Friction has a perfect mix between explosive sexiness, sweet romance and human morality with a judicial backdrop. It’s like a sultry and alluring Law and Order episode with a side of quick wit and sass.
Standing on opposite corners doesn’t diminish the fact that Reeve and Leary are a perfect match. Leary doesn’t just wield girl power, she’s the proud president of the club. She’s a self-possessed and secure woman with a passion for her job and clients which I was very appealing.
“You’re a tough nut to crack, but he definitely looks like the type of guy that could totally crack you.”

Reeve is strong and smart with a touch of sexy cockiness, but he’s also calm and mature and above all a very loving, good hearted man. I very much enjoyed how didn’t just stimulate her sexually but also intellectually and emotionally.
“Everything about her became important to me. Every touch from her, every sound out of her mouth, every nuance of her day. It all became mine. I possessed her and she consumed me.”

Initially Reeve and Leary determine that they can handle having a sexual relationship without it affecting their professional lives. Between elevator semi striptease, playing footsie during depositions and other sexy shenanigans behind smoked up walls, their attraction lit up the pages. But the more time they spend together and got to know one another the more they realized how truly perfect they were for each other and how deep their feelings actually ran because given their situation they were in, they would soon find out just how much they were willing to risk for love.
I’m going to bet on love prevailing.

Sawyer Bennett is a master at writing fun, sweetly seductive and sizzling hot romances. Reeve and Leary create sparks right from the start, with an incredible sexual byplay that assists in building a deep relationship. I also appreciated that while there was a passionate romance building in the forefront, there was also a heartfelt mater developing in the background.

Friction is a standalone Legal Affairs full length novel. Full of fervor and heart. Told from both points of view, with a happy ending.

I think I'm on a role. I just had another great read and this was a first time read by this author for me. I truly loved this book. Everything about it just worked for me. Once again the dual POVs just helped me get lost in this story and with a sexy alpha male and a feisty heroine how could you not. The only thing missing was the warning not to read this book at work due to the HOT panty melting scenes.

Leary Michaels is a lawyer and she's damn good at her job. She's a partner at Knight & Payne and has a 100% win rate. Her current case is personal and she plans on doing everything she can to win it. Her boss and mentor, Midge Payne, taught her how to use her assets, to get farther in life and I mean EVERY asset. So, when she finds out who the opposing counsel is, after doing some research on him, she makes a point to "accidentally" bump into him, and then seduce him in the elevator on the way to the courtroom.

"I took risks, I lied and cheated sometimes, and I used my female charms over and over again to daze and confuse my opponents."

Reeve Holloway is opposing counsel. His clients are usually the big companies and winning is just as important to him. After an elevator ride that leaves him picking his tongue up off of the floor, he can't help but pay her back with a little bit of her own medicine. And let the fireworks begin...

The chemistry between these two is off the charts. I loved seeing Reeve's alpha side come out. As for Leary, she loves to argue, but she can't help but submit to Reeve. Hell, once you meet him, you won't be able to either. The start out agreeing to be fuck buddies and let me tell you the sex is H.O.T.!! Neither have time for anything serious, but have plenty of time to spend between the sheets. But night after night spent together quickly changes things between them.

"Tell me you adore me.”
“You know I do,” I say from a place deep within my heart.
“Tell me you’re going to fuck me silly after you finish working tonight,” he says, now grinning big.
“You know I will,” I say as warmth spreads through me.”

But, as the case goes to trial there can only be one winner. Will Reeve and Leary be able to keep romance and work separate knowing that one of them will lose? Or will this case tear them apart? I have to say that I loved that while there was some drama, it wasn't drawn out to much. It was just enough. And I loved the case. Sawyer Bennett did an amazing job keeping my attention not just with the romance side of this story, but also with the legal parts as well. The only thing missing was a warning not to read this while at work. I'll just say it was a very long day trying to work after reading some of those sex scenes.

I've had this book on my iPad for a few weeks. I don't know what took me so long, but I'm so glad I finally read it. Don't be like me and put this read off any longer, read this book!!

Finally, after feeling a bit disappointed with Miss Bennett's book, I am back at her good grace. Friction is an old book by miss Bennett. It is about a legal romance story.

What makes me really liking this book is Leary. She is something alright. Smart, compassionate and sassy. She is confidence in her own sexuality. Reeve is a man who is drowning in his ego as a lawyer. When he meets Leary, he sees something on her. When they embark on a hot romance affair, he falls in love with her.

I think Miss Bennett, done a wonderful job on balancing what is ethical in law and what is right thing to do.

It is a wonderful book.

It’s taken me a couple of days to gather my thoughts about Friction enough that I could write this review and do it justice. Oh, hey, LEGAL PUN! Clearly, I should have taken a couple more days…but alas, here we are, and here I go. It’s pretty simple really—this book rules.

Leary Michaels knows that some causes are worth bending for—which is why ethics sometimes takes a backseat to winning for the little guy. And that’s never been more apparent than when she goes head-to-head with Reeve Holloway on a case that’s very close to her heart.

Reeve would like to be the one that Leary is bending for—he’s seen her feminine wiles up close and personal, and wants to take it a step further. The problem is, he’s opposing counsel and that makes him the enemy…

What happens when feelings get tangled up between the sheets with them has the potential to destroy them both—especially if Reeve destroys Leary’s case first.

Whew, boy. Note to self (and to you, fellow reader): Don’t read this book when getting your car serviced in small-town North Carolina. Fairly certain the elderly gentleman seated beside me in the waiting room will never be the same…and honestly, neither will I. Reeve and Leary are SMOKIN’ HOT. Which, really, I shouldn’t be surprised about. This is Sawyer Bennett we’re talking about. And that woman knows how to do deliciously dirty and dominant sex.

But this story isn’t just about the (so hot it burns) sex. It’s about this couple, and whether opposites can attract—in this case (oh, I am on FIRE with the legal puns tonight, y’all), lawyers attracting from opposite sides of the courtroom. Ms. Bennett is in her element here, and she does a fine job of making their situation both sympathetic and realistic, using just enough legalese to make it feel authentic and yet, still easy-to-follow, thereby making this Legal Affair one to remember.

Yup, this book definitely rules. I wanted a story that was funny, smart and sexy, and which made me feel, and I got it. And now I am so invested in the characters—all of them—that I’m ready to find Ms. Bennett’s address and go sit on her doorstep like a lost puppy until she gives me a book for Ford. And for Jenna. And for, oh, I don’t know, ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER. (Too much? Perhaps, but don’t *snicker* judge me and my law-related puns, okay? It’s taken me days to get this far!) ~ Beth, 5 stars

When I found out we were getting another Legal Affairs story, a spin-off for one of Cal’s friends, I was so excited! This story was amazing!! Reeve is the perfect amount of sexy, sinful, and sweet.

Leary is a kick-ass lawyer. She works for Knight & Payne under the elusive Midge, who has formed her into the woman and lawyer she is today. She is fighting the biggest battle of her career—one she is personally invested in. Using her wily ways, Leary intimidates the opposing counsel, Reeve. What she didn’t count on was the chemistry between them.

“I’ll give you a choice. You continue to let me finger-fuck you until you come, right here, or you go with me to the bathroom where we’ll have a bit more privacy?”

And really, what choice did Leary have? To the bathroom they go, and it is HOT…as are the rest of their scenes together. Make sure you have some spare panties handy, ladies!! Of course, being in bed with your enemy isn’t always easy, even if it is sinfully sexy.

“I regret being the biggest idiot on the face of the earth for not recognizing that it’s impossible to be in bed with your enemy and not understand that someone is going to get hurt.”

I absolutely loved Ford! I think I fall in love with the secondary characters just as much, if not more than, the main characters in most of Sawyer’s books. They are just fantastic. Ford was the perfect friend!

We even got to see Cal for a bit which I adored! This is another amazingly fantastic read from Sawyer Bennett. She has a knack for writing the perfect alpha, dirty-talker who is sweet no matter what the occupation! ~ Tiffany, 4.5 stars
