Highlander's Passion

Rate this book
There can be only one…for both of them.

Sent back in time to the year 1210 when their Highlander shifter clan first began, three identical brothers known as the ‘power of three’ must find their mates if they wish to save their future line from extinction.

Fae-blooded Arabel holds the deadly and rare fire-wielder skill, an ability that flares beyond her control when her shifter mate travels to the past and begins closing in on her. Unable to allow an intimacy with him for fear she’ll bring about his death, she enlists the aid of one of her fae kind to compel him, so that no matter how many times they might meet, each instance will be as if the first and all other times forgotten.

Highland warrior shifter Finlay Matheson is on a mission to find his mate and each time he meets Arabel, he falls inescapably in love. If only he didn’t keep forgetting her each time they parted ways. Determined and unwavering in his mission, when he is called to save Arabel’s village from being destroyed by her enemy, he races to aid and protect her.

Battling both love and land, Finlay must find a way for them to be together…and without perishing when they do.

Three identical brothers know as The Power of Three seek their mates in order to save their clan from extinction. This book is shifter Finlay and Fae Arabel's story and what a tale it is! Finley travels back in time to find his bond mate who he has been searching for five years. Now, in centuries past, he is pulled to Arabel, a rare Fae blooded fire wielder. Due to the nature of her gift, she has not been granted a mate. Each time they meet she wipes he mind so that each meeting is new to him.
But as fate would have it they continue to be drawn together and hope they will be given a chance to bond.
This book went through the gamut of emotions and kept me wondering what would happen next as I turned the page. Do not miss this addition to The Matheson Brothers trilogy. It can be read as a stand alone but you do not want to miss a minute of this series...

I was so excited to read Finlay's book and Ms Wadsworth did not disappoint! Highlander's Passion picked up right where Highlander's Desire left off. This series is about the Power of Three and finding their soul bond mates. We see a lot of Finlay in Iain's book and I knew his book would be just as amazing. The power of three and Iain's mate travel back through time in order to save the Fae village and people on Matheson Clan lands. Finlay is also hoping he can find some answers about his bond mate. Finlay is a sexy Highland warrior who is also a bear shifter and part of the Power of Three. His need to find his mate is riding him hard and he feels like it is hopeless. Arabel is a fiesty, strong willed Fae highland lass. She has a very rare Fae ability and is determined she can never find love or else they may both die. As always, Joanne's book was impossible to put down and swept me right through time with the characters. I felt as if I was truly apart of Highlander's Passion and all of it's characters. I laughed along with them, felt their hurt and the passion as my own. Ms Wadsworth, you have a true talent! Thank you for a wonderful Highland adventure.

This is a wickedly delicious continuation of the time traveling Matheson Brother's saga. Book two concentrates on one of the Matheson triplets warrior Finlay. Finlay, Kirk, Iain and Iain's mate Isla, has crossed back in time to the twelfth century. The year is 1210. The preparation for the fight to save the fae clan village is in full swing. Due to their future knowledge, the brothers and Isla know in advance when the attack will take place. Nessa the seer in the twelfth century has communication with Isla's father Murdock Matheson of the seer clan leader of the present day fae clan. They can talk to each other through time when they have the same vision. Both Nessa and Murdock know how important this battle is. It must be won or the future of the fae clan will become extinct. Meanwhile Finlay and Kirk are on the search for their fated mates. Nessa has seen that their mates will be found in this twelfth century not in their present time. Finlay and Kirk are meeting all the eligible maidens in the area searching for their true mates. Nessa has twin granddaughters, Julia and Arabel. Arabel has been gifted with a rare fae skill. She is a fire-wielder. Arabel can produce fire from her hands. She is the last of her kind. Since the Matheson brother’s arrival, Arabel's control over her fire was wavering. Sometimes up to several times a day, she had to go swim in a cool pool of water to calm her fire down. One such evening Julia accompanied Arabel to the pool. When Arabel's aura turned ice blue, Julia became alarmed. If it continued, Arabel could lose her life. Julia left Arabel in search of their grandmother Nessa to find out what they should do. Finlay was riding by when Julia asked him to guard Arabel. Finlay was unconsciously attracted to Arabel and yet Arabel did not want Findlay anywhere near her. Arabel was afraid she would burn Finlay alive causing his death. She could not have that. But Finlay followed his instincts and was determined to get to know Arabel. He took her all the way to her chamber in the castle. He decided he would not leave her. He finally recognized Arabel as his fated mate. When he told her this, despite what she was feeling for Finlay, she refused to believe it. It was forbidden for a fire-wielding fae to mate. The past generations of faes like her, had married. One their wedding night, when they first had intimate relations, they caused the death of their mates. Thus Arabel was forbidden to marry. Findlay was not deterred. He pursued Arabel. When she again fell to her knees suffering from the ice-cold blue aura, she had to do something to save Findlay. Arabel convinced Isla, who had the skill to compel, to compel Findlay and his brothers to forget her being Findlay's mate. Isla complied. Arabel at the time did not understand that when two fated mates met, it would be painful to be apart. Arabel was constantly running away from Findlay. Despite being compelled, Findlay was still drawn to Arabel. Arabel knew that it could no longer be avoided. Findlay and Arabel took shelter from a storm in a cave. Arabel found her fire was gone and she was shocked that she could now be joined with Findlay. They performed the hand-fasting ceremony and pledged eternal devotion and love for each other. They now became mentally and physically joined. Their chemistry was beyond words. It was extremely hot. (no pun intended) Arabel now understood everything Findlay had been telling her about fated mates. When she awoke in the morning, Findlay was still asleep. She knew she had to undo the compel command. But Arabel also knew when she left Findlay's side, he would automatically forget all about her and the night they spent together. Isla gathered the three brothers together and between her and Arabel, they explained what they did and why. At first the men were put out, but eventually understood. Isla reversed the spell and Findlay was desperate to have Arabel alone and have her tell him all that was hidden from him. As they spent time together, Arabel had to take the intimacy factor with Findlay in care. Otherwise her fire would become uncontrollable and Findlay would face death. But had they not been able to be joined in the cave? They discovered if the elements of air, fire, water and earth were aligned, they would be able to join. Findlay had a theory that perhaps if the conditions were duplicated, they would be able to be intimate. Interrupting their pondering, the bugle sounded twice indicating they were under attack. What confounded everyone from Nessa to the brothers was that the attack was two days ahead of schedule and they had no warning. Findlay told Arabel to stay with Isla and Julia in the castle to be safe. Findlay rushed to his brothers and the other warriors. Arabel found Isla and they decided that they were not to be left behind. Their place was beside their mates and they would use their gifts to fight alongside them. When they arrived at the battle, they went into action against the wishes of their mates. It was a good thing that they were there. They turned the tide against their enemy, the MacKenzie clan and the battle was won. The future of the bear shifter clan and the fae clan was now secure. All the men cheered and in the future Murdock's new reality now represented their new lives. Findlay swept Arabel and returned to the cave where he reproduced the four elements. It worked and now Arabel was able to have intimate relations with Findlay. She wanted a family and Findlay promised to do his duty to ensure she became pregnant. The Matheson brothers and mates cannot return to the future until all the brothers have their mates. Now it was Kirk's turn to find his. The next book in the series is Highlander's Seduction. I can't wait to read the book. I highly recommend this series. You will not be dissapointed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Highlander’s Passion is the second book in the Matheson Brothers series. Finlay has been searching for his mate for the past five years, and while he feels the call, he’s never been able to find her. Now, centuries in the past, he’s drawn to Arabel, a fae-blooded fire wielder. But due to her nature and the dangers of her gift, she’s not allowed to have a mate. She begs for Finlay to stay safe, and asks his sister in law to compel Finlay to forget all about her. But when fate brings them back together, will it also give them the opportunity to be a true mating, or will their hopes dash with her flames?

Oh my, this book brought out all of the emotions within me. I was cheering, tearing up, nervous, and just about swooning with everything that Finlay and Arabel needed to go through. I loved their romance! Finlay was so determined to find his mate, to make her happy and keep her safe. Arabel was just as fierce with need to keep Finlay safe, and was willing to give it all up in order for him to fulfill his destiny. Together, their passion was bright and strong, I loved how sweet they were together, and the plot line definitely kept me engaged and wondering what would happen next! While you don’t need to read the first book in the series (this is a stand alone), I think this would be best enjoyed reading the series in order. I absolutely loved reading this book and I am really excited to read the next book to find out about Kirk’s romance!

Book two was even better than book one. Probably because I knew more about what was going on! I’m still madly in love with the way this author writes. Especially the intimate moments, which is a much better description than just saying steamy sex scenes. These are so much more than that! Tender, well written, romantic and sweet moments between the bonded pair. The obstacles for this pair are a bit greater than they were for the first pair which makes me wonder what the third brother is going to have to put up with in order to bond with his mate!

As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock I highly recommend this series and gave it a full four hearts for the flowing prose and heartfelt moments that brought me so close to the characters. Anxiously awaiting my chance to read the third and to explore some other series by this author as well.

Second book in the Matheson Brother series or the power of three as they are known Three brother bear shifters sent back through time to find their mates and save their clan

This is the second brother Finlays story he is the second brother to find his mate but why does he always forget her and remeets her time and again. Arabel is Fae blooded and has cast a spell that makes finlay forget her every time he meets her this is her way of stopping the mating but when things come to a head she will have accept her fate. There are plenty of steamy scenes in this wonderful series now time to read book three Highlander's Seduction

This story follows Finlay and Arabel as they meet. Arabel with her Fae powers fears she will harm Finlay who is sure that she is the one he is meant to be. After she asks for him to be compelled to forget her after each time they meet, Finlay knows that there is something wrong. He knows that his mate is near and every time that they meet he is sure that they know each other. Fighting each other as to what is right, they must find a way to be together.
This is the second story in the series and I really liked it. The only reason I would say to read the first one is because I liked it. Even though a part of a series, all information that is needed from the first book is included in this one.

While I truly enjoyed the storyline, I felt that the dialogue was stilted at times as well as the writing being generally repetitive in spots. The characters are interesting. The premise is original. Overall it's a good read with a happily ever after ending that builds on the last book in the series and sets up the next book in the series as well. I would have rated it higher except for the clunky dialogue and overexplanation. It probably won't stop me from reading the next book in the series, as I enjoy the storyline enough to want to see what happens with Kirk, since Iain and Finlay have both found their mates. Kirk deserves to find his happily ever after too.

I love love love this series so much! She really creates a world that I can just escape to. Finn and Arabel are such a great couple. I loved them from their first interaction at the lake where she is cooling off and her sister asks Finn to keep an eye out for her. I love that he "schmoozes" his way into her room. I love that Joanne can switch between the current time and the past so effortlessly and that she writes such strong female characters. I was so sad when she makes Finn's sister-in-law (and brothers) help him forget he meets her every time they meet but Joanne gives me my HEA :-)! Go power of three, go elements!!!

This is the second book of the series. While it is said that you could read in any order, I would highly recommend that they are. The author does a great job of laying the foundation for this book before the first chapter, it is even better to start at the beginning since there is a sub-plot that continues from the first to the second.

This is told in a dual POV format. I love getting both main characters' thoughts throughout the book. It helps me to connect better when I know why things are said and done the way that they are.

This is a sexy book with multiple scenes with a great amount of detail. Not as much as the first book though and there seemed to be more of story involved.

I have been provided with a review copy of Highlander’s Passion by the author for an impartial review. This is the second book in The Matheson Brothers trilogy and it picks up shortly after we left off in Highlander’s Desire. In this book we get to see Finlay one of the Matheson brothers that we previously met in the first book. I really enjoyed getting to see the continuation of this series and to see how Finlay and Arabel would come together to figure out her skill. This book was such an easy read and I can’t wait to read the conclusion of this series.

Review of Highlander's Passion(The Matheson Brothers Book1

This book was read in one sitting. It continues the story of the "power of three" but is a stand-alone book.It contains more steamy sex, romance and adventure. The heros are hot alpha males and the heroine a sexy indecent woman. The historical aspects are accurate. The book includes time travel, bear shifters and the Fae. The hero is a bear shifter from the future and the heroine is Fae whose power is fire-wielder. Joanne Wadsworth continues her well written and fascinating stories.

The second in the Matheson Brother series. You might be able to read it alone, but you'll miss the backstory. I'd read Highlanders Desire (#1) first. This continues the story of the Power of Three. They are three brothers that are shifters and they have come from the present to the 12th century. The oldest met his match in the previous book. This is Findlay's story. He has found his mate as well and she is a fire wielder (dangerous). Off to read #3. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).

A delightful continuation to the story which started with Highlander's Desire and I look forward to continuing as we follow the Power of 3 triplets this time focusing on Finlay as he meets his mate from the past. Together they try to work out a way to be together since her fire magic can lead to his death.
Loveable characters and a captivating plot await you in book 2 of this lovely story

I enjoyed watching the details unfold in this book 2 of the series. With many of the magical/Fae/shifter components laid out, I liked how Finley finding his match took a slightly different path. With Arabelle’s unique abilities I was curious to discover what solution was possible for her and Finlay. With part of the prophecy fulfilled and tragedy averted, I look forward to seeing where Kirk finds his match in the next story.

This is entertaining and steamy. Iain is determined, strong, fierce, loyal and caring. Isla is stubborn, bold, playful and loyal. They fated to be together, yet Isla has run from him for 5 years. The storyline weaves a tale of fate and love, not just between them, but also their clans. It's a fun, sexy read that brings them together, and sets the future in motion.

There is a happy and we deserved joining of Findley and Arabel. A war with the MacKenzies has been averted but I suspect not for the last time. Kirk has yet to be joined with his mate. Then the full power of three will be ready.

Fabulous Author Joanne Wadsworth does it again in book 2 of her wonderful time travel paranormal Mattheson Brothers series. This is an exceptional page turner and again another fabulous book, that you won't be able to put down . This New Zealand author is a fantastic and unique storyteller that I highly recommend!

Setting...Scotland, 1210

The Matheson Brothers triplets know as the power of three sent back in time as to when the Matheson Clan began. The brothers mission is to find their soul mates and destiny to save their future clan to continue to exist to save from extinction. This book is about Matheson brother, a Highland shifter , that can shift into bear form called Finlay and the heroine in this story is about Arabel a Fae who has the fire wielding ability the thing is she fears getting too close to Finlay as she is afraid she will kill him as she still hasn't been able to control her power and fears she will kill Finlay. As she can feel Finlay as she has a lot of powers and with the help with another of her kind and their combined power can make Finlay believe each time they meet it is the first time. The problem is each time Finlay meets Arabel he falls completely in love with her yet after each meeting he forgets her which begone to be very frustrating to Finlay.

There is also a fair share of villains and evil in this story one plans to distroy Arabel village and Finlay being the food and honorable man he is knows time is of the essence to save and protect his beloved Arabel as well as her people. So Finlay knows he has to figure a way for he and Arabel to be together for love and to save both all the people they care about, their families and friends, as well as each other. The problem is how can they do this without dying! Finlay fears loosing Arabel from her enemiesBtho want to distroy and have been killing people from her village. Now as for Arabel who can't seem to get a hold of her emotions! She fears killing Finlay with her own fire wielding power that she could always control until recently.

Fate can be a very cruel mistress what is to happen to this ill fated couple where doom seem to be coming at every direction? You the reader will have to read this spectacular book to find the results and what other adventure and drama this ill fated couple have to endure.

Another spectacular read that Ms. Wadsworth pens with that golden pen of her! I absolutely loved this brilliant storyline filled with so much action packed adventure, mystery, suspense, drama and even a few giggles at some humorous scenes and of course the romance and love. Of course who doesn't love a visit to historic Scotland? I could nearly feel the chill from the winds near the loch, smell the sweet scented heather while tripping over some thistles doing some frolicking up a mountain!

I can't praise this book enough as it is definitely one for the keeper shelf. I loved Highland Passion as I did with Highland Desire book one of the Matheson Brother series and can't wait for Kirk's story in Highlander's Seduction. I also highly recommend Ms,Wadsworth Highlander Heat Series as another I read and reviewed the entire fabulous series, all 7 books which are always all my honest reviews.

I was gifted this book; this is my honest review.
I am frustrated with the story but a reader said to hang-on until book #4 so I'm really trying here.
-Arabel has a rare skill and yet she doesn't believe her mate bound is more important than her skill or her services. No, she thinks' she'll kill him, won't try to find solutions and just pushes Finlay aside even though all the wise ones tell her they wouldn't be bound otherwise. Go figure, she knows best. Not. Finlay is a complete believer as he should be.
-I don't understand why Arabel left the cavern to find Isla to get Finlay and his brothers out of compulsion. Why not go together so Finlay doesn't forget their first night together? What's the thinking? Beautiful memories lost. So the next chapters are just repeating to Finlay who forgot everything what happened and how. Such a waste. Then the stupidest question ever, as if he wanted to keep going with it!!! "Of course I wish the compelling command gone". He must have made a face like I did.
-Sometimes the sentences are weirdly formed, like "took pride of place" vs. place of pride.
-The cold-fire effect came out a few times before the author decided to explain to the reader what it was exactly and what it meant. At that point, I was already annoyed.
-Someone somehow has to explain what the word "arena" means. It's not where we play hockey. In the context, it should be a verb. Comes back often enough.
-This is book #2 and it's Finley and Arabel's story and yet here we are having to look into Iain and Isla's bedroom again. It's not their story, this is unnecessary and rude.
-Many, many repeats in such a short book, chapter to chapter or from the other books. Nessa outside at the struck of midnight. Daniel sitting on the green couch under the wall-hanging. The handfasting, etc.
-I had to laugh when I read "we're not leaving this time until...". Do you even know how to go back to your time???
-The battle with the Mackenzie was a big let-down. Isla starts talking. Everyone leaves. End of battle. No prisoners taken. Nothing more. I didn't want gory details but if the battle had lasted several hours I would have been satisfied.
-The dialogues are mostly cheesy and the bedroom scenes are for the most part mechanical; they can't stop talking and rubbing and biting. It gets old.

HIGHLANDER'D PASSION by Joanne Wadsworth is an enchanting Time-Travel/Paranormal/Historical Romance. #2 in "The Matheson Brothers " series, but can be read as a stand alone. I, however, would suggest reading book 1 in this intricately woven tale of the Highland Matheson Brothers, "Highlander's Desire".
This is Finlay and Arabel's story.

Well written tale of passion, magical powers, Highland legends, Highland lore, danger, love and romance.
Intricately woven tale which is powerful and compelling. I enjoyed the way the H/H come into themselves, their powers, their desires and their passions to find thrir HEA. The characters are enjoyable, believable and lovable. The storyline is unique, interesting and intriguing. Fans of Scottish Time-Travel, Medevial Historical Romance, tough as nails but tender Highland Apha males, and independent, strong-willed Lasses, pick up "Highlander's Passion" for your next reading pleasure. Think Donna Grant! Ms. Wadsworth is an amazing, talented storyteller. She pulls the reader in and holds them in awe. Highly recommended! A most enjoyable and satisfying read with a satisfying ending. Can hardly wait for Kirk's story, coming in July 2015. Once again, Ms . Wadsworth has another hit in her fast paced "Matheson Brothers" series. A must read Highland Time-Travel/Paranormal / Medieval Scottish Historical Romance!

The Matheson Brothers traveled back to 1210 to save their clan. These men need to use their warrior skills to save the neighboring village from attack. Meanwhile Finlay feels that his mate is near. He has spent five years searching for her. He will be successful. He and his brothers must find their destined mates to ensure that their clan doesn't become extinct. Arabel lives in this time. She is fae-blooded and a fire-wielder. If she lost control of her gift, it could be deadly to her lover. That is why she must never mate, but these two are destined to be together. Can they find away? Arabel is a feisty, independent woman. I loved that she has the strength to put her happiness aside to protect her fierce shifter. Finlay knows that this beauty is meant for him. He's a proud warrior who wants his lady. Both he and his bear need her, but magic and her gift are keeping them apart. The story is amazing. I loved the passion and romance as Arabel and Finlay explored their love. The giant is a tender lover and the lady is eager to be with him. Joanne Wadsworth has written an incredible story that is filled with history, the paranormal and a passion romance. The Matheson Brothers are a force to be reckoned with as our their ladies. I can't wait for Highlander's Seduction. Kirk needs to find his happiness. This is an outstanding series.

Great second book

Book one was good and I will say that at least the theme and personalities of the characters are consistent. Book two covers the second triplets search for his mate while in the past. Finlay meets his mate who had a fae trait of wielding fire. With the unpredictability of that trait she is unable to be intimate with any one, therefore unable to complete the bond.
Arable, his mate, decides to ask Isla to compel him to forget her because she doesn't believe that they will work. That is pretty much the entire storyline. Oh, and a great alpha male..
The drama that was the original reason for their presence in the past was wrapped up in one chapter, maybe less. The book consisted of coupling, more coupling and a bit more descriptive coupling.
Still, I liked it. It's so mindless quick read and that is why I'm on track to finishing all three books in one day.
Decent characters, no depth but it's a fantasy novel. Very well written, no grammatical errors. Flowed nicely.

Joanne Wadsworth has once again woven a tale the enchants and carried me away to an ancient world, full of sexy supernatural characters, amazing descriptions and an enticing world. Arabel and Findlay must join forces as part of the Power of 3 to defeat the impending invasion. The only problem is even though they are destined to be mated, Arabel fights the attraction because of her fears that her special fire-wielding fae skills will kill Findlay. Through a special set of circumstances where the elements all align in the right place at the right time, Arabel realizes her mistake, makes amends and finalizes the bond with Findlay. But will the bond be enough to defeat the marauding army bearing down on their shores.
I continue to be entranced by this series of Wadsworth. Each book becomes my new favorite. And even though it is a series, this book reads as a stand-alone. I'm eager to read Kirk's story, the next installment in the Matheson's stories.

Being the second book of the series you would think that it could notbe as good as the first one, but take it from me it is just as good if not better. I could not put it down. The only time I did is when I had to. So if you like paranormal Highlander romance stories, this is a book for you. Ms. Wadsworth can weave a story so good that you can actually see and feel what is happening. As soon as I finish my review here Iam going to start book 3 of the series. I know it is going to be just as good as the other two were. This is a must read book!
