Indian Hill #5

Into the Fire

Rate this book
Listening Length: 11 hours and 47 minutes

Mike reunites with his wife and his friend, Paul, aboard the Guardian only to find that things have gone from bleak to hellish on earth. Rampaging hordes of Genogerians plague the planet, as does an invasion from Progerians hell-bent on knuckling under the will of man through their relentless assault. Yet this may not be the worst of it, as an insidious "ally" has lent their support. At what cost can a planet on the brink come back from such desperate odds?

TUFO/TALBOT rocks it!!

The much anticipated continuation and further adventures of Michael Talbot has finally arrived and does not disappoint. Talbot is once again in the thick of it, fighting for his life as well as that of his wife Tracy (although she can hold her own quit well) and BT. Having managed to get back to earth with the help of the Stryvers whom he can barely stand to look at and trust even less, the three are making their way across country in an attempt to reunite with their son Travis who has been left in the care of Drababan. Tracy is more than a match for who and whatever they meet while BT, who is constantly railing against 'crazy crackers' has turned out to be one of Talbot's greatest allies and friend and constantly wonders who is crazier, Talbot or Tracy. Of course we all know the answer but it still makes for some hilarious scenes between the three of them. Even while in dire straights, Talbot is Talbot as he soundly dresses down a Geno( picture a Chihuahua snapping and growling at a pit bull and actually making it step back away in fear) BT calling out to Tracy(possible spoiler) "Tracy! Mike is picking on the aliens!" And you will get the picture of what is in store for you throughout the book. While the fighting is intense and draws you in, Talbot's propensity for speaking-before-thinking is at the heart of the story and wouldn't be a Talbot adventure without it. He even has a few talk sessions with the BIG MAN UPSTAIRS with mix results and not a few hilarious outcomes. Paul, in the meantime is fighting his own battles in space, both of conscious and life as he engages the Progerian battle cruiser on board a faltering Guardian. Beth is in her usual self centered bitch mode and while her role is small here, we can expect she will not be dismissed or go away easily. Drababon, Tony Talbot and Travis also find themselves in danger. But Dee has made a promise to Michael that he will keep and nothing or no one will stand in his way. There are also several references to the alternate realities of Michael Talbot which a TUFO/TALBOT fan will recognize. Even the brief appearance of a beloved character blends so well into the storyline we don't even think twice of the possibilities or probability of it all because in the Talbot universe(s) all things are possible. Once again I give kudos to Mark Tufo for taking what was once a trilogy and continued the further adventures of Michael Talbot. It can only get better (if that is possible). Besides the connection between IH series and Dystance: Winter's Rise is yet to be made and one that will be as highly anticipated as the ZF series and LF series

First of all this is number 5 in the series about the Croc alien invasion.

Now if I'd heard this anywhere else I'd be saying how can any author make crocodile aliens realistic; well Mark can...!
I'm blown away with book by book of how he comes up with extended storyline. Number 5 in the series and I'm still on the edge of my seat. Michael Talbot is still making me laugh out load and I'm still completely addicted to turning every page as fast as I can.

Mike and Tracey are back fighting together which I love. Drababan is far away but in charge of Indian hill and Paul is in Space commanding the Jupilion spaceship trying to stop the Progerian invasion from there.
Beth evil witch still obsessed and hoping for a way to get Mike back...not a hope in hell.

Mark ilicits real emotions from us at every page. Plus I dont stop laughing at the Talbotisms; what a fab sense of humour he has...Mark you need to be on stage..seriously!

I love number 5 like it was the first no other author has ever done that for me.

Anyway now Mike and Tracey were sent to their most certain deaths to fight the thousands; Mikes hatred for Paul is strong but he knows it really stems from his wife Beth. Her festering jealousy dangerous in every way.
Trying also to get Drababan killed for kidnapping Mike son despite him being the best uncle ever. His now general at hill and making excellent progress.

Yet another threat has arrived the giant spider aliens...what..the...no...spider aliens...really...only Mark can pull this off making every movement and word from them real. I believe him dont you...

I never want this series to end.....

No drop in quality here, but a tough read all the same as we truly feel the weight upon Drababons soul and the responsibility Mike feels to both if his best friends. Beth is... Beth, and so well written I feel anger at a fictional character. This is a great follow up to book 4 and a true pivot point in the narrative.

Fantastic

Another excellently written story by Mark Tufo. Mike Talbot is saving the world in his unconventional, sarcastic and insane way, while making unlikely allies along the way. I'll be starting Indian Hill 6 immediately after sending this review.

Another great book from Mark Tufo!

Mark can write suspense, comedy, and loyalty and honor better than most. You're on the edge or your seat screaming that they make in one chapter then holding back tears in the next and then laughing like a nut the next. A Sci-Fi epic journey!!!

I really liked this one. I'm surprised by the laughs in the series.

It's still a good, dumb, fun, alien invasion military thriller.

The war continues. Battles on the ground rage as do those in space. Mike is of course in the thick of it. I can't wait to see how it goes.

Mike, Tracy and BT survived the nuke. Now they are faced with a new and totally different threat. Another alien species, The Strivers, have landed on Earth. They are horrible looking creatures and they are telepathic. It seems that the Strivers hate the Progerians and want to totally destroy them. Then they want earth for themselves. They communicate with humans on a different wave length then among themselves.

What these creatures do not know is that somehow Mike can hear them when they communicate with each other. He keeps this ability a secret. This new “friends” will help find the Guardian and repair the damaged ship. Are these creatures to be trusted? Would you trust something that made your skin crawl and your stomach churn? You wouldn’t, good call.

Once the ship is repaired they get ready to “buckle”. Mike, Tracey and BT wait in a shuttle. They are ready to depart the Guardian as soon as it is back in home space. The rest you will have to read for yourselves. I am not going to spoil this adventure for you.

I read a lot and listen to even more. This take on alien invasion is one of the best I have read in a long, long time. It has everything anyone could want and more. Two different species of aliens. One with multiple levels. Then we have a human Hero who somehow manages to come out ahead when he should be dead. Of course, he has enemies. His ex-girlfriend for one. He also has a problem with “foot in mouth” syndrome. Just can’t keep his mouth and brain on the same wave length. Makes for a chuckle in the middle of a deadly situation. How does Mark come up with this stuff? It’s great.

I really like the way Sean tells this story. He gets into the characters and brings them to life doing a splendid job.

Production is excellent, as usual. Never a problem with the sound. Voice is clear without any static or background noise. Great job.

Clearly the best book out of the entire Indian Hill series. Only bad thing I can say, is that it ended in a HUGE cliffhanger . Now it gets me beating my head on the table for the next book in the series! Cliffhangers will do that. What made this book special to me, was the alternate reality character Michael Talbot met up with, along with the funny thoughts and actions of Michael Talbot. As for Beth, I just wish Paul would jettison her into the vacuum of space, then just wipe his hands of her backstabbing self.

Action-packed sequel

I have read all of the previous Indian Hill books and enjoyed each one tremendously, including this one. It was fast paced, action packed, and full of Tufo's quirky sense of humor. I couldn't put it down, which meant I finished it much too quickly. I can't wait for the next book in the series to be published, so you'd better start writing it Mr. Tufo, if you haven't already done so!

Tufo always delivers!!!

I have been reading Mark Tufo's books for many years now and not a one has disappointed. They are always gory, action packed and hilariously sarcastic. Some people don't get/like the sarcasm but I was born with it. I do like the zombie fallout series a titch better but Indian Hill is very enjoyable. There's characters you love to hate, and love to love!

The usual mix of laughing, crying and frustration is here that comes with all Tufo books.

The epic fight continues with Talbot, Tracy and B.T along with all the others and doesn't disappoint.

Can't wait for No.6
