This is a wonderful Korean graded reader. I think anyone studying TOPIK 1 can read and enjoy it.
What I really like about this book is that it is a rewritten version of a Korean classic. It is also a sad story, which made it more memorable for me.
Many Korean graded readers are based on news, folktales, or stories for children. But as an adult learner, I sometimes want to read something with a deeper and more realistic story. This book gave me that experience. I especially liked that it was based on a real Korean literary classic and that it didn’t have a happy ending.
The story stayed with me even after I finished reading it. I really hope we can have more graded readers like this for Korean learners.
