Kilmaraig Witch Mysteries #3

Much Ado About Cursing

Rate this book
A dead smuggler, a cursed artefact, and a seagull hoarding all the blankets.

Dr Cass Winters finally feels at home in Kilmaraig. She’s mastered the basics of her sea-magic, she’s forged a true partnership with the town’s fiercely protective lighthouse keeper, and she’s ready for her first quiet Scottish winter.

But the Winter Solstice brings a historic, brutal blizzard that completely cuts Kilmaraig off from the mainland. When a private yacht crashes on the rocks in the whiteout, Cass and Ewan rush to rescue the survivors, bringing them into the safety of the lighthouse. But instead of grateful tourists, they find a cutthroat group of magical collectors—and the yacht’s owner, a notorious black-market smuggler, dead on the freezing shore.

Trapped inside the lighthouse with a killer, paranoia sets in. The smuggler didn’t freeze to death; he was murdered with a cursed blade. Worse, he brought something with him—a highly dangerous, ancient artefact tied directly to the darkest secrets of Ewan’s family history. As the artefact begins passively eroding the lighthouse’s ancient protective wards, the deadly cold creeps inside. Cass and Ewan must find the murderer and destroy the relic before the storm claims them all.

With the town's safety on the line and the temperature dropping fast, Cass has her sea-magic, Ewan's unshakeable loyalty, and a feral seagull who refuses to freeze. She’s going to need all three.

Much Ado About Cursing is the thrilling third book in the Kilmaraig Witch Mysteries — a paranormal cozy mystery series steeped in salt, secrets, and Scottish coastal magic. Perfect for readers who love locked-room mysteries, reluctant witches claiming their power, high-stakes slow-burn romance, and animal sidekicks with serious attitude. If you like your mysteries cozy, your magic grounded in science, and your seagulls feral, bundle up and continue the series today.

The third novel in this series with more supernatural ingredients than the previous one, which I loved. This book took me in, just like the first one did and kept me reading and turning the pages.

The entire book plays at one location due to the weather and that adds a strange but compelling depth.
The second half of the book feels a bit drawn out, with some repetition of facts, but it still kept me hooked and waiting to see how it unfolds.

I love this series and will continue when new books come out.

loved it !! love this series !! love Cass, Ewan and Chip... this is another murder for them to solve... a fast paced mystery... this is Cass's first winter here and she's so looking forward to it... cozy fires and comfy blankets, reading and drinking hot chocolate... this has not happened yet... a fierce storm... a yacht... a cutthroat smuggler...a dangerous relic and ungrateful magical collectors... this is not good !! trapped in the lighthouse with a killer.. so, not what Cass had planned... this was so good !!!.

Cass is back with another murder mystery. I loved how her relationship with Ewan has grown and Chip again is adorably chaotic.
