The 21-Day Happiness Challenge, the fifth book in the 21-Day Challenge series!

Are you tired of that lurking sense of depression? Tired of waiting around for happiness to find you?

Are you ready to take action to become a happier person, ready to learn how to love life?

True happiness is an "inside job". Look at a happy person's life and you don't see any magic or unicorns. There's nothing in them that isn't also in you. Though external realities can certainly play a role, happiness doesn't spring from what you have, what happens to you, the situation you are in, where you are, or anything else. In fact, if it was easy to be happy, this book would be a very short one!

Happiness doesn't have much to do with money, with achievement or with possessions, because plenty of people have all three and are still not happy. In this guide, we'll approach happiness not as something you have, but something you actively do, each and every day.

The 21-Day Happiness Challenge will help you to:

Understand and apply the key principles of living a happy life in an easy step-by-step way
Love and accept yourself just the way you are now
Let go of things, thoughts, behaviors and people that do not serve you anymore
Realize that "huffy fluffy" concepts such as forgiveness, gratitude and mindfulness are actually extremely powerful
Develop a daily routine that significantly boost your happiness
..and much more inside!
Learn how to love your life and become a happier person TODAY! Are you ready to take the challenge?

I love the concept of this book, and the format is great. It's set up as a daily project and it gives you goals to work towards.
I gave it 3 stars only because it did not really resonate with me. I think I have read so many psychology books that this would have been better early on in my reading. That said, I do recommend it for the reader with causal interest in happiness, anyone that has trouble committing to the topic, or anyone that wants to learn more but doesn't like to read. This is geared as an easy read but still has some good in depth learning.

Happiness is the ultimate goal that we all strive to attain. Unfortunately for us, however, happiness is an intangible concept that you can’t simply buy at the supermarket. Sometimes it seems impossible to attain, no matter how hard you’re looking for it.

I was always under the impression that happiness was mainly a derivative in the sense that it largely depended on other factors, such as being loved, healthy, having enough money etc. This book taught me a different outlook on happiness: it is a habit, a state of mind, a lifestyle.

Rather than treating happiness as the derivative of external realities, this book encourages you to accept that happiness is something you can actively work on. And that’s exactly what this 21-day challenge is about. Each day you get a new assignment, exercise or things to think about. This way, you gradually work towards the goal of increasing your level of happiness in life.

I’ve read a few books already from the 21-day series and I love how they are practical and full of actionable advice. This one is no different. You get useful tips on things like practicing kindness and reflection, inviting stillness in your life, and challenging negative thoughts and beliefs. I also enjoyed the section on how brain chemicals affect certain emotional states and how you can use that to your advantage.

The biggest takeaway from this book for me was the realization that happiness doesn’t depend entirely on external factors. They do play a role, but in the end, happiness doesn’t just result from what situation you are in, what you have, or where you are. Happiness is a state of mind and it is something you can work on with this useful and actionable 21-day challenge.

Just things to think about...happiness is within your grasp, as they say. This was a good set of reminders on how to stay on point and not get down about things that, in reality, aren't that important.

Common sense reminders but organizing the tips in 21 day steps is a great plan that people are more likely to implement into their lives. Short book, but I made several notes. A great self-help book.
