Lucia Rivera has a five-year plan, and it doesn’t include a fated mate. Not at all. As the right-hand woman to Miami’s Shifter Delegate, she’s too busy managing the telenovela that is shifter elections to worry about destiny. She has goals, ambition, and a color-coded life plan, and she’s not letting anything or anyone distract her.
Enter Adrian Morales. He’s the brilliant local architect who would rather design skyscrapers than deal with the wild world of Miami, or worse, shifter politics. But one whiff of Lucia and his bear is ready to build her a den. Now he’s determined to win over the woman who would literally rather rewrite election laws than go on a date with him.
Unfortunately for Lucia, her internal bear is a total traitor. While she’s busy trying to spreadsheet her way out of the bond, her bear is acting like a cheerleader… on sugar.
With the Miami humidity at an all-time high, Lucia is about to learn that no amount of red tape can stop a destiny that’s already been signed, sealed, and delivered.
Miami Claws is a laugh‑out‑loud campy paranormal romantic comedy, packed with shifters, magic‑tinged politics, shenanigans, Miami‑level chaos… and a fated‑mates bond that seriously complicates her career plans!
Ida Duque writes sweary, sweet with heat, romantic comedies and paranormal romantic comedies with a Miami flair. Actually, if she’s being honest, it’s more like loud, crazy Miami-infused romcom with bad words. Her books feature smart sassy women who love life, family and each other while hoping to find true love. Also, there’s kissing…lots of kissing and fun times in the bedroom… without an anatomy lesson.
By day, Ida is a Higher Education professional writing under a pen name, mostly because college students are not impressed by "kissing books," and she still needs them to respect her and listen to her so that she can help them graduate. She loves her students and working on campus and there’s nothing else in the world she’d rather do, but she also loves writing stories and entertaining, not to mention, her muse is very vocal (and significantly less interested in financial aid paperwork.) A pen name seemed like a good compromise.
A native of a beautiful island in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, these days Ida lives in South Florida with her husband and two teens, one of whose future plans include becoming “the boss of Miami.” Seriously. Ida’s loving every minute of raising her but will welcome parenting tips on dealing with aspiring dictators. There were no playgroups or social activities in their area for fiercely independent teens who are also interested in political machinations and autocracy. Luckily, the mini dictator has found dance and her plans for takeover are on hold for now; her parents couldn't be happier!

Miami Claws by Ida Duque is everything I want in a paranormal romantic comedy and more.
From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked by the perfect combination of romance, humor, magical chaos, and lovable characters.
Lucia Rivera is a fantastic FMC. She's ambitious, organized, and focused on her career goals. I loved how determined she was to stick to her carefully planned future, even when fate had completely different ideas. Her struggle between pursuing her goals and dealing with a fated mate bond made for a hilarious story.
Adrian Morales MMC was equally wonderful. He is sweet, handsome, intelligent, patient, and absolutely devoted once he realizes Lucia is his mate. The contrast between Lucia's resistance and Adrian's determination to win her over created incredible chemistry and so many entertaining moments. Their banter was witty, natural, and full of heart. Reading about him taking over the company his late grandfather left him and trying to make sure it stays afloat was so heartwarming. I also loved the "boxes" him and his team created.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was Lucia's inner bear. The constant battle between Lucia's carefully structured plans and her bear's enthusiastic support of the mating bond was so funny and entertaining. Ida does an amazing job blending laugh-out-loud humor with heartfelt romance, making the story both funny and emotionally satisfying.
The Miami setting adds so much personality to the story. The shifter politics, election drama, magical elements, and chaos The supporting characters were also memorable and added even more charm to an already delightful cast. I loved seeing Max, Nick, Chef Theo and Chef Amy in this book as well.
Overall, Miami Claws is a fun, feel-good read packed with laughter, romance, and plenty of shifter shenanigans. If you enjoy paranormal romance, strong FMC, fated mates, and stories that leave you smiling long after you've finished the last page, I highly recommend this book.
Highly recommend! A charming, hilarious, and heartwarming read that earned every one of its five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Miami Claws by Ida Duque was such an incredible, fast paced read that completely hooked me from the very first page!!!! I absolutely loved Lucy, our fierce and empowering FMC. She is so focused on achieving her dreams that she refuses to let her heart get in the way. She is a total powerhouse! And Adrian? The perfect, consistent MMC. He never wavered and was right there fighting for his love for his mate until the very end. If you love strong heroines, dedicated heroes, and a romance that packs a punch in a short amount of time, pick this one up!
