I got encouraged to read this book-length research after reading Fromm’s Revolutionary Hope. It clarified many vague issues I didn’t understand in Fromm’s book, and It provided a perfect comparison between Fromm’s Messianism and Marcuse’s Messianism.

I thought I would like Fromm’s Messianism, but –shockingly- I sided with Marcuse’s! Fromm’s seemed to me pretty naïve!

I wouldn’t recommend this book for beginners, or for people who have no idea about Messianism. Read about it first, then pick this book up. You would enjoy it then.
