Embrace the Hunt

Rate this book
A powerful vampire warrior. A beautiful fae of great power. A war that threatens to destroy their love for the second time…

Mastyr Vampire Ian never wanted to see Regan again. He blamed her for the massacre at Raven’s Overlook, an attack that killed his sister and her children. He’s convinced Regan enthralled him, using her extensive fae powers to keep him by her side. If he’d been in his realm that night, he could have saved 200 people. Instead, he was caught up in a passionate affair with the woman known as the Ruby Fae. However, when the enemy abducts Regan, Ian goes on the hunt for her. Finding her trapped behind a wall of mist, he helps her escape the Ancient Fae’s fortress. Reunited, old passions run hot once more, but will the past keep him from embracing the woman he’s loved all these years?

Regan never stopped loving Ian even though they’d dated several centuries ago. But he’d always blamed her for the terrible events at Raven’s Overlook. When she feeds him from her vein and learns she’s a blood rose, she’s devastated. Ian hurt her badly in times past by making her a scapegoat. But when she’s forced to work alongside him to help battle the deadly Invictus wraith-pairs, her love for him rises once more. Yet, can she ever trust him again, when he swears she enthralled him that fateful night?

I confess I've had a love affaire with vampires for several years now, especially warrior vampires, the kind found in the books of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Lara Adrian and JR Ward. Though I've been published in Regency Romance under the pseudonym Valerie King--and yes one of my Regency Novellas features a vampire--one day I woke up knowing I had to create my own contemporary world of the warrior vampire.

For some mystical, magical reason, early in the process, my vampires appeared with enormous beautiful wings and it has been the most amazing experience to include flight in my novels, in both battle scenes and scenes involving spectacle. My special vampire world, published by St. Martin's Press, is introduced in the first book called, ASCENSION (12-28-2010). The second book, BURNING SKIES (May of 2011), opens up the world a little bit more. And even as I write this, I'm on the final draft of my third novel, WINGS OF FIRE (September of 2011). What a thrill it has been to live with my ascended vampires through the creation of this extraordinary, multi-dimensional world!

For more information about my unique take on the vampire mythos, check out my website at carisroane.com and my book release video on YouTube by putting in the search phrase, Caris Roane Ascension.

With every hope you'll enjoy reading my books set in the World of Ascension, All my best, Caris Roane

Some interesting features in this dark fantasy romance. This is a long way down a series so if you are jumping in here to start, you will have to be prepared to be left breathless instead of walked through introductions. A master vampire called Ian is trying to find again a woman called Regan who has haemachromatosis which is called a blood rose, because he loves her and she has the nicest blood going. But he'll drink anyone's blood and in this kingdom of the fae, they have regular donors who don't mind. Also there are trolls and invictus beasts. The amusing item is that the vampire still uses his cell phone.

I like the attention to landscape detail, with a long gorge and a granite outcropping, among other settings. And I think it's realistic that the vampire also enjoys other human foods. The vampire feels guilty for being away when his people were attacked, and he thinks that the woman he loves is trying to atone for luring him away. Maybe she did it on purpose, maybe she didn't. Whatever, he's determined to get her out of a tower and get on with a war.

Strong violence, strong language and rather a lot of pages of blood drinking. And, vampires being fond of doing the wild thing, there are some adult scenes. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Mastyr Vampire Ian is trying oh so hard to rescue Regan even though their history is checkered to say the least! Margetta the Ancient Fae seems to be getting more powerful as this series continues and now with Regan her prisoner how much more mischief and mayhem can she unleash . Well it's a good thing that Regan is so much more than anyone realised because Regan turns out to be a Blood Rose and if she can only get Ian to let go of his previous prejudice then maybe just maybe their Realm will be safe. Unfortunately some wounds go deep and Ian's heart just might not be open anymore!
There are all manner of ways to describe this book from magical to passionate but for this reader it's the damaged characters coming forth into the light that really captures my attention. Oh Ian you were so blinkered by grief and guilt but finally you stepped up and well frankly it was about time! Regan is written as a heroine that we all want to be. Stronger than she realises, likeable and very brave. Add in the very passionate connection she shares with Ian and it's easy to see why readers keep buying these books. There are Nine Realms so I fear the end is in sight but it's been such a fun journey that keeps stepping up the pace with each book and I'm trusting the author to bring a glorious conclusion filled with heat and action

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Embrace the Hunt is the 8th book in the Blood Rose series and can be read alone although I recommend reading this series in order to get the most enjoyment possible out of it .Mastyr Ian and Ruby Fae Regan have a long history together they were lovers centuries ago before a massacre occurred and Ian lost not only a village but his sister and nieces while he was away with Regan. He helps Regan escape Margetta's fortress where she's been captive for a month and though they both still have strong feelings for each other they don't intend to start up their relationship again .There is a lot of passion and emotion, action adventure ,and danger in this book. Regan becomes a blood Rose, Margetta and her wraith pairs are up to no good the characters in this book have a lot to deal with .I found this to be a great read all of the books in this series are .I highly recommend this book and series to paranormal lovers out there looking for something new and fresh.

Stone and Regan are probably one of my favorite couples of the series. They have a long history together and their love isn't one of those blood rose induced reaction type situations. These two were romantically involved centuries ago, they have loved one another for over 500 years, even when they both faught against it. With so many tragic things shared between them in their past, they really had to work to find their back to each other, to release all the tension and harsh feelings. Theirs is a story that I really enjoyed reading.

As for the overall series arc, I'm happy that Margetta has once again been handed her butt. Though, she still has some tricks up her sleeves, I can feel the final showdown is coming and it's going to be epic. I can't wait to see what happens when all the couples come together, work together, which you know has got to happen for this series to get a really good ending. We have to know what's been brewing all along, why each pair is unique in their abilities and purposes.

I'm looking forward to it. Well done to the author on another great story. Off to read more now.

Regan and Ian’s past relationship and the issues from that time make it difficult when she discovers she is a Blood Rose after Ian rescues her from Margetta’s hidden fortress. They must work together to battle Margetta. Even with their past, they are determined to work together to protect Camberlaune Realm and the people. As they work together, their feelings intensify and they must both come to terms with their past and find the truth to bond. I really liked this one and am looking forward to the next one.

I was gifted this book by the author herself for an honest review.. Awesome as always. Caris Roane's Blood Rose Series is one of the best series I have read all year. This is the 8th book in the series, and is just as intense and intriguing as the others. Ian, Mastyr of Camberlaune, still blames Regan, the Ruby fae, and past lover, for the massacre at Raven's Overlooks that killed his sister and her children along with 200 other people. But when Regan goes missing and believed to be held prisoner by the evil Margetta, everything changes. Ian is compelled to find her.. As he waits once again above the Dark Gorge watching the mist, he mentally tries to call to her. After so many weeks, he doesn't expect any response, but then he does. Regan has been trapped in a tower by the Ancient Fae, Margetta, who plans to bond her to a mastyr vampire she has chosen and with their combined powers will rule all the Nine Realms..Regan is able to escape and Ian finds her..as he flies them to safety he needs to feed soon or they wont make it. Regan offers up her blood, not knowing that once she does, it is gonna set both their worlds on a collision course of hard knocks. She is his Blood Rose!!! He still blames her and she can't get over the hurt of being blamed for something she did not do. As they fight the pull of the blood rose and the distrust and hate in each others heart, yet secretly still in love with each other, damn, now things really heat up. They will have to work together to figure out how to destroy Margetta's Invictus Wrath pairs and the mist that conceals her army's encampment, can they do it without killing each other, or will the draw of the blood rose bond change their course? Was she really to blame for the massacre or is their a traitor in his Vampire Guard? If you have read the previous books in the series you will definitely enjoy this one. Ian and Regan's journey is full of sassy, sexy, and emotional to say the least. A must read, even is you have never read any of the others. Mature audience.

****Copy gifted in return for an honest review****
I admit up front that I am a die hard Blood Rose fan. I have read the entire series and drop everything when a new book is released. This book is another great addition to the series.

This book picks up immediately after book seven ends, when Regan (The Ruby Fae) is kidnapped by Margetta (The Ancient Fae) following a major battle in which many of Margetta's forces are defeated with Regan's help.

Ian, Regan's former lover, was able to follow their trail to an impenetrable mist barrier, but couldn't go any further. He has spent the past month at it's edge trying to get through telepathically to Regan. Margetta is holding Regan prisoner until her full powers manifest, when she will bond Regan with a Mastyr Vampire in allegiance to Margetta. But one of the slaves smuggles a key to Regan and Ian is able to help her escape.

Regan and Ian parted ways 500 years earlier after an Invictus attack on a settlement in which 200 realm folk were killed, including Ian's sister, her husband and children. Ian blamed himself for being away from his position with Regan at the time of the attack, but he blames her more for enthralling him into neglecting his duties. Regan has given up on convincing him she doesn't have that power, but still stands up for herself, thinking she can never trust him with her heart again if he thinks so little of her. Then she realizes she has become a blood rose and that they will have to find a way to work together or the nine realms will fall to Margetta's latest plan for total domination.

Embrace the Hunt is book #7 of Caris Roane's Blood Rose Series.
As my mom would say, the cheese is getting binding. Or heating up, whichever you want to think this. This is the second to last book in the series. And I've said before of all of Caris Roane's series, this one is the easiest to pick up the story without reading the prior six books. You miss all the background information that have happened, but it's still readable without it.
Unfortunately, no background specific to the book, you get into spoilers, and I want everyone to work through problems with our couple Ian and Regan. We met Regan as a secondary character in an earlier book in the series. I've loved all blood rose pairings and reading how they work through their problems. I've got caught up in their 'lives' and you know there's a HEA at the end, but it's been fun reading how they get there.
Of course, you have your hot sex scenes, get out the fan. To me a good sex scene will follow the flow of the story, which they do. The whole story flows nicely with just the right amount of excitement. Actually this one, as things near the end of the series, was more so.
Read one of the stories on the Blood Rose Series and I bet you go back and read the ones you missed. I enjoy all of Ms. Roane's stories and this one didn't disappoint.

I've been reading the Blood Rose Series for some time now, and I must say each book is never a disappointment. Caris has a way of writing that pulls me in from the first word. I can feel the characters' emotions, I can picture the Realms that they are in; and they are beautiful! In this series as you read them, each set of characters must learn lot about themselves and their partner in order to carry out their mission.

This story is no different, Mastyr Ian, must learn that the past 200 or more years he's been wrong to blame The Ruby Fae, Regan, for a horrible loss to his Realm. Regan, even though Ian continues to blame her and say terrible things to her, she still sets out to what needs to be done, in order to defeat the Ancient Fae, Margetta. In the end they Ian learns the true betrayer of his Realm a little to late, and Margetta and her Army get away. However, he is gained so much in return that he is just happy to have the Ruby Fae back in his life where she belongs.

With all that being said, I can not wait for the Ninth and final installment of the Blood Rose Series. Where we catch up with Mastyr Stone and what we hope is the end of Margetta and her Army.

I enjoyed this installment a lot because it felt more real, rather than a bit formulaic. The fact that they used to be together made fighting the relationship more realistic and freshened up the old formula that the previous books tended to have. I understood why they fought not to get too entangled up again. The bad guy was a surprise, yet not. I liked that though Margetta was still the main villain, they had another antagonist that was a bit refreshing. I liked the look of both main characters in this one. Ian was this rough guy with a ring on every finger who preferred fighting the Invictus with his bare hands, didn't wear the traditional Vampire Guard uniform, and was just a well muscled biker kind of dude. Regan was also a cool character that liked her dark make-up, leather, tight jeans and ankle boots. They fit together perfectly. I liked how it ended. It had a feeling of redemption as well as a happily-ever-after. I don't want to spoil anything so I will just say, this one was fun and passionate.

There are Nine Realms each Realm has a Mastyr Vampire. Ian is the
Mastyr Vampire of Camberluane. For thousands of years all the Mastyr's of each Realm have fought the Invictus and the Ancient Fae, Margetta and her army. When you see the red mist you knew they were in trouble because the Invictus was attacking.

Ian has been looking for the past month for the Ruby Fae Regan that Margetta had kidnapped. Ian and Regan had a history together thousands years ago they were besotted lovers. But then the Invicrus attacked a village killing Ian's sister and her two children. For this reason Ian blamed Regan believing she put a spell on him because he was so obsessed with her that he wasn't at the village but with Regan. This book, this series is a must read. When Ms. Roane writes her character's you feel like your there relating with them. Even the scenery take a deep breath and your can smell the forest. Embrace the Hunt

I am left feeling both joyous and saddened that the series has reached the penultimate installment. Joyous as I am able to delve further into the world I wish I was a part of. Saddened as I realise; that the end is in sight. For our gorgeous Mastyrs and their blood roses, the betrayals that are revealed, and the magnitude of what must be still to come are breathtaking with possibilities. I am filled with “what if’s” about how the final story will be told. The questions that need answers (now please). I loved the way the mists and spells were explained, the way our hero learned from his lady and used that knowledge so successfully. But *sigh*, now we wait.

Another great book by Caris Roane. This book starts off almost immediately from the last book with Mastyr Vampire Ian searching for Regan. He is doing everything he can to find her. Regan is locked in the ancient fae's tower trying to find away to escape. Once Regan is free, things start to really great up. Hot and sexy, the story line is addicting. I had a hard time putting the book down.

I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.

Mastyr Vampire Ian and Regan have a past, and not a pretty one at that. He blames her for things that happened and she was totally heart broken. But they must put a side there differences if they want to rid the nine realms of the evil that is trying to take over.

This was a wonderful addition to this series. It's getting closer to the end and I can't wait to see how its going to play out.

This is number 8 in the Blood Rose Series.
Roane again comes through with the romance between Mastyr Vamp Ian and Ruby Fae Regan. The Camberlane realm is the setting for this installment and the battle continues against good and the evil Margetta and the Invictus.
Regan aids Ian by dismantling the mist that makes the enemy invisible.
I have read numerous Roane and you should not miss out on any of them.

I loved Embrace the Hunt. Regan and Ian have trust issues. Ian believes that Regan enthralled him while his family was massacred at Raven's Outlook. The ancient fae kidnaps Regan and it is up Ian to find her. Not all is what it seems. I highly recommend this one.

The intensity is off the charts

The intensity is off the charts in this eighth installment of The Blood Rose Series by Caris Roane. Mastyr Ian and his Blood Rose Regan sizzle as their bond compels them to face old hurts and betrayal. Together, they emerge stronger than ever as the Nine Realms face their ultimate battle in book 9.
