Re-Read January 2020.

Initial review below:

Finally! A story with only Alex and Cindy ( well mainly Alex). These two are one of my favorite couples to read about. Knowing that they grew up together and everything they have been through together. To be completely open and honest with each other, telling each other everything in their lives, even though it is scary, is beautiful. Even when Alex goes to the demon realm and does something shady, he still tells his wife about it and she loves him no matter what. That is beautiful.

The story involves Alex trying to make money while helping people with their supernatural problems. He is tired of working as a forklift driver and wants to continue helping people, but he also wants to be able to support his family. His wife talked him into starting this business: Demons LLC. He helps one family in the beginning who has a demon issues and then later gets a case from a 17 year old ghost to find out who murdered her. The ghost says her mom will give him the money if he does this. This is always interesting, waiting to see how Alex approaches the family and their reaction to what he can do. There was a small appearance by Victoria and Kevin but other than that is was mostly just Alex (with some Cindy).

The first book in the series is still my favorite, but this is probably my second favorite followed by book number 2. There are still some idiosyncrasies that don't make a lot of sense. The main one being Alex's distaste for cell phones and not being able to use them. He is 25 years old but talks like an 80 year old about technologies (I am still waiting for him to use the phrase " You damn kids and your technology!" What 25 year old normal guy can't use a cell phone? (Kevin also doesn't have a cell phone, so this is turning into a theme with this author). The other issue is that all the characters keep saying they need to lay low and not draw attention and yet they show their powers all the time. Just saying that nobody will believe it is no longer realistic when so many people are witnesses. It doesn't matter if the photo is kind of grainy. A lot of people know now what Alex can do. That has to become an issue at some point.

Alex's first major outing as a professional paranormal investigator was another excellent addition to the Damned and Cursed series. The addition of some comedy gold from some underage ghosts helped bring this novel to life, and overall, this was an enjoyable read.

That said, I think this is the weakest entry in this series to date. I'm not sure why, but this one felt a little more run-of-the-mill than the rest of the books in the series. I know Alex spent almost the entire novel speaking with ghosts and doing ghost things, but for some reason, it felt like there was less of a magical/supernatural focus in this book than in other books before it. I think that's because once you get used to Kylie and Nate (the ghosts in this story), they almost feel like normal characters.

I was also hoping for more development with Alex as a character. It was fun seeing him do this job, but he didn't ever really feel like he was progressing in any way. He wasn't pushing past personal barriers, he wasn't discovering new things about himself, he didn't have a major character arc, and his motivations just seemed a little lacking.

It's still a fun book, though, and I don't want to give any impressions that I think otherwise.

I cannot say enough about how much I have enjoyed this entire series.

This review is not for fans and readers of the series as they need no encouragement to buy this latest book in the series. This is for the those that reached this page and looking to see if it might be a good read.

The list of characters within the series are as distinct and yet the same in their goals and are about as unique as you'll find as a reader. Each book features on of the core characters with cameos of some or all of the other characters.

While this is a great book and you can start here, you'll find that you will have many questions so, start at the beginning and sit back for many hours of mesmerizer reading as you immerse your self in the mind of Mr. Bullion.

Alex, much like Glenda(you'll have to read the series to get this as it comes from my favorite character of the series) are the balancing force of this group of supernaturals.

There are complex and tightly woven alliances between the characters, the kind of bonds that can only be formed while battling together for a common goal.

Alex, while young and more controlled than some of the others, is assuredly one of the strongest. Despite his Demonic nature he is loving, caring, and willing to go to great pains to visit justice with restraint. His talents are so vast that he gives pause even to those with powers of their own. We can only be glad that he has the love and support of a good women who see his power not as a way to get more but in the vain of the famous statement "with great power comes great responsibility".

I recommend you buy the first book in the series and start a fascinating journey.

This is a transition novel where Alex tries to move his life away from his day-to-day normal work to move into paranormal investigation. Alex with his weird mix of supernatural powers has always been one of my favourite characters in this series but this novel seemed a bit odd in the way Alex so easily displayed them to people who aren't already in the secret.

Alex might be able to fly but he doesn't always come across as the sharpest person so you have wonder how good he'd be at any sort of real investigation. I'd still be interested to see where this series goes from here though so I'll be happy to get the next book when it comes out.

Great reading experience, good continuing to series

Good addition to the series. The only bad was nothing from Broken Home but assume that may be in the next Jack Kursed book! Since there was no Jack in this book assume / hope he will make an appearance in the next book in the series. So many plots and stories that could be in the next book - no I have not read any blogs or sites. I am just guessing based on the strong characters that have been created in this series. Will just have to wait and see what comes out next. Of course waiting is always the hardest for the next book in a great series!!!

I have read all his books, mainly because I like his characters and story ideas. However, his writing style is starting to grate on my nerves. Too many descriptive adjectives for all the characters, and he has an annoying way of saying the same sentence a thousand times in his books. Or describing someone over and over the same way.

If I had to read "a supernatural being" or similar once more, I was going to lose it. Feels like a high school writer trying to stretch out his essay.

Series still hasn't disappointed.

Series still hasn't disappointed. Maybe the weakest so far but was thoroughly entertaining. Looking forward to next book. Glad they have already been written.

Interesting addition to the series. Hope the series continues in the upward trend and there are more appearances from Jack and Kevin and others even though I love Alex and Cindy.

Anyway gonna sink my teeth into next one as soon as I can.

An entertaining story

I've been a fan of this series since the beginning. With a bunch of varied and likeable characters, the stories are a good source of light entertainment. It's not exactly high drama but there is enough action and humor to make the series quite enjoyable.

A great edition to expand the series and bring in some nice new characters. I am hoping this leads to many more adventures of our supernatural heros...
