M.R. Forbes is the author of a growing number of science-fiction series including Rebellion, War Eternal, Chaos of the Covenant, Stars End, and the Forgotten novels. Having spent his childhood trying to read every sci-fi novel he could find (and write his own too), play every sci-fi video game he could get his hands on, and see every sci-fi movie that made it into the theater, he has a true love of the genre across every medium. He works hard to bring that same energy to his own stories, with a continuing goal to entertain, delight, fascinate, and surprise.

He maintains a true appreciation for his readers and is always happy to hear from them.

Interesting but

I like the story line BUT some of the logic behind.the plot is lacking . So the two groups of robots have been fighting one group is designed as humanoid with armor against plasma weapons but they are vulnerable to arrows????? And the arrows have to hit a area of six inches in the neck area. And this is bow and arrow is.the weapon of choice for the humans. And the bad robots have plasma weapons. The humans also have plasma weapons but chose the bow instead because you have to shoot the bad robots 3 times to kill. Can you imagine how close to hit a area 6" square with a bow--- and at the same time being shot at with a plasma weapon??? Ok the good robots have made a robot warrior of their own
They made it armored but gave it no weapons!!!!?????. They run up and grab the bad robot.while getting shot with.plasma and grap.and squeeze thee bad robots head. What???? None of this makes any sense at all

books all end in cliffhangers

Good writing. I personally don’t like cliffhangers and generally avoid authors who write like this. There is nothing more frustrating than getting hooked on a story only to have it cut off on a massive cliffhanger for months or years. Since New Earth is projected to be 5 to 7 books long, you are definitely looking at a long waiting period before the full story wraps. At least the author has a reputation for finishing a series. However, I wish I’d been warned. I likely will not finish the series until it’s complete, if I remember to come back.

Some answers, more questions, and hope

Austin leaves the ship and learns more about the outside world. Finding human survivors, he finds out what has happened in the last 200 years. But for every answer he gets, another question pops up. I'm really enjoying the series. Enough action to keep the plot from slowing down and enough answrrs that the story isn't a mystery box. There's even more questions about Austin and what happened to him. And that last paragraph ends the book with another shock. Cannot wait for book 3!

I enjoyed the first book and this one. But, I don't like series like this, where there is no actual resolution just cliffhangers. If I had known this I would not have started the series, I would have waited however many years it took to finish the series and just read them all at once. I have never read this author before and really liked plot and style. I may look into other series but will make sure the series is finished first.

New Earth, books 1 and 3

I liked how the story grabbed me from the start. I could imagine this story line happening in our near future. The last book I read that hooked me this hard was The Martian!

Second book brings everything into focus

Ⅱ book builds very well off the 1st book it is Surprising in the terms that it takes and how it extends the series it really broadens the scope and creates for a very exciting Series of events I can't wait for the 3rd book to be written
