Avery

I came to California to start a new life, while also supporting my boyfriend’s dream of being a doctor. My dream is to be a dancer on Broadway, but you can dance in LA, right? I can transfer to a college out here, and I can focus on my dream later. It's Josh’s turn now. And I love Josh. I love him a lot.

But then, there's Dylan. A sexy tattooist, who's sharing his home with us until Josh starts earning money. At first, I think he's a jerk. Then I hurt myself and it turns out he's not a jerk at all. It turns out he's…complicated – like a dance.

Dylan

Josh and I were friends as kids. We grew up in the same neighbourhood, went to the same school, partied a lot in high school – we were living the dream. Girls loved us. Then he went off to college, and while we kept in touch, it wasn't a constant thing. That's why I was surprised when he told me about Avery.

At first, I was pissed, I mean, he needed somewhere to stay for a while, and I'm happy to help him find his feet, but he brought a chick into my house – my pussy free zone. This was never going to end well.

I should have listened to my gut. I should have said no. I can't be trusted around beautiful women…

As I said in the update, it reads as a newspaper article: this happen at this time, person looked like this while doing that. The writing is very dull and amateurish. There is no flow, just endless dry descriptions of things. The author uses parentheses a lot to explain what characters feel. It's clear that it's written by an inexperienced author.

I felt nothing for any of the characters, no friendship between two guys, even though they supposed to be best friends, barely there romance between the heroine and her boyfriend, and no chemistry whatsoever between heroine and the new guy. Here is author's attempt at creating chemistry between her two characters.
He's watching me again in that curious way he was before. It makes me feel strange, and I wonder if my hair looks weird or if I have something on my face.

She says he looked at her strange, yet acts like he frowned at her. His inner monologues tells us he has hots for her. So why is he keep giving strange looks to her like some kind of a creep? I don't want to read a book where potential lust/love interest looks at the heroine "strange". I want for a guy to look at the girl with so much heat in his eyes, it will make her panties melt. He is introduced as a badboy tattoo artist and a manwhore. But he acts like a complete fucking weirdo. One doesn't get a name manwhore for nothing. There has to be something to the dude in order for the girls to fall at his feat. This guy has no freaking game going on, just his mohawk and tattoos.

I understand where author was trying to go with this, but the writing killed it. It is amateur and lazy, for the lack of a better word.

There was a scene where the heroine came in to the kitchen, after having sex with her boyfriend, to make breakfast for him, wearing nothing but a robe. The second guy comes in and all you get is detailed description of how she is making breakfast. Then the guy throws couple of dry lines at her, looks at her weird and that is that. Talk about missed opportunity. What was the point of her walking in naked under the robe?

I'm only guessing here, but I think this book wasn't beta-read or edited by anyone aside the author herself. Otherwise people would've pointed out the shortcoming. Or maybe it was, by a family member or a friend, who didn't dare to say something other than "it's great".
I think this story should've been published for free on author website, blog or wattpad, just to see readers reactions to it. Maybe get some feedback. Then publish a book.

It seems that these days too many writers want to call themselves authors and rush to publish prematurely just so they can get to wear the tittle. It's so freaking annoying.

Book Funk F*ck Off - if this drool worthy cover and the story within doesn't chase this book funk away I will cut a biarch!!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Story line is typical where it's not so much unique has been done many times before, but it is easy to get into, short, no mention of book #2 yet, the double up of words and spelling errors in this suck with it being a published new release its kind of not what you expect to encounter, draft copy yes..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Did this kick that book funks ass, yeah it did!! Mindless the story line not being 100% unique it didn't matter because I ended up enjoying it any way..The main tatted up bad boy character made this book..His cocky I'm so hot you'll scorch had me flipping the pages to see if these two did step over that taboo line of keeping away from his best mates girl..

I get why Josh is so head over heels for her.

I'm intrigued to find out what happens in the next book, to see if they push those lines further and how blurred those lines become..

The attraction wasn't tacky in any way the only line crossed was one kiss but how far will they go in the next book..will it be a love triangle or will Dylan walk away..

I'm just a man who isn't strong enough to say no to the woman who somehow, without me even realizing it, has come to own me..

I NEED HER TO BE MINE

My opinion. Did not work for me...make work for you.

Just awful. Written in dual POVs, but the switch happens so quickly, I had to go back and think about whose POV I was reading. Hard to connect. I hate when the author introduces secondary characters like Roxy (Dylan's close friend) who are just trouble makers. Even though Roxy claimed to love her little husband Georgie...I think she wanted Dylan. There is no other reason why she would want to go into a bet with Dylan about another girl.

I just could not connect. It felt forced. Even with Dylan's POV and don't even know where his concern from the heroine came from. First he is making this deviant bet with Roxy and next he is falling the heroine.

A lot of similarities to THOUGHTLESS where the guy moves across the country for work, brings his girlfriend, and moves into his childhood's best friend's house and of course so called best friend is a man whore, etc. but not even close to how you felt while reading that amazing book.

This one sucked me in and now I can't wait to read the second installment. Of course, I'll be saying the same thing once I finish that one and I'm not so patiently waiting on the final installment. I swear, I tried to wait it out but the synopsis spoke to me and I was curious!

This was short... too short! However, the author does a fantastic job with the character development in such a short period of time. I was glued to the pages wanting to read more of Avery and Dylan's story... or it is Avery and Josh's story??? Regardless, I'm glad the second installment comes out tomorrow!! This one definitely gave me all the "feels". I really like Avery, the heroine although she's naive to the fact that Dylan, her boyfriends friend is crushing on her. I totally see how Dylan is drawn to Avery... she's beautiful, funny and speaks it like she sees it. However, I like Josh as well! I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!!

Amazing

If I had to put a song to this book it would be Jesse girl by Rick Springfield. This book is part 1.....
Story is about Avery moving from NY to California because of her boyfriend's medical intern. She moves in with her boyfriends best friend until her and her boyfriend can save money.
Best friend is a total player and does not believe in commitment.
This story is about temptation.

3 Cranky Stars!

Author Eve Cates is a talented story teller with the ability to draw you into a story and leave you wanting more. "That Girl is Mine - Part One" is a very short novella and I query the decision to not combine Parts One and Two into a fuller work.

In Part One, Avery moves to LA with her long time boyfriend Josh. The two are deeply in love and Avery puts her schooling and own dreams on hold to help Josh with his dream.

Josh, fresh out of Medical School, is doing his residency at a children's hospital. There is no denying his feelings for Avery and vice versa, but Josh's work load strains the relationship.

The couple moves in with Josh's long time friend, Dylan, so they can get on their feet. All is well until Avery and Dylan start spending more time together. Starting out as friends, the two move into dangerous territory after a heated kiss.

The story line is intriguing, pulling you in, but ends rather abruptly.

Ugh I wrote a whole review about how bad this book is and it got eaten by goodreads. :( I don't have the patience to write it again but trust me, if you are looking for a fun quick entertaining read, this isn't it. There are several editing errors that should've been found if the author asked a friend to read before it was put up for sale. When you ask people to pay you, the least you could do is make sure you get your names correct.
Editing was only one of my issues with this book though but maybe I'm a demanding reader expecting to read a story not be told it.

I'm going to go ahead and give this one a try even though it sounds A LOT like one of my favorites Thoughtless....let's see how similar they are....

Definitely had the thoughtless feel, way too much for my liking but I will say I kept going and it wasn't bad. But can't give it more than 3 for the simple fact of comparing it to Thoughtless...

I really liked this series. I normally don't like
characters that are cheaters but the author made them likable. I also thought the H and h had great chemistry.

Avery has dropped everything to head west with her boyfriend, Josh, as he pursues his dreams of becoming a doctor. She's not giving up on her dream of becoming a dancer, however, and as soon as they settle in with Josh's good friend, Dylan, she will embark in her dream.

As I read Avery's POV I appreciated how down to earth and likable she was, never thinking too much of herself. And oh, sexy, dirty talking Dylan was just delicious! He doesn't do relationships because he doesn't believe in love, but in reality he hasn't found the one that's caught his attention…until he meets Avery, and has to keep reminding himself that She. Is. Not. His!!

An accident gives Dylan and Avery an opportunity to get to know each other better as friends but, as many of us know, when someone spends a lot of time with someone else it can draw them closer and closer, and one thing can always lead to another… Now, with that said, I won't give away anything else but just know that I fell in love with Avery and Dylan.

There is plenty of passion and Ms. Cates, kudos to you because that ending left me hanging and buzzing if you know what I mean! I can't wait to read the rest because I need answers as well as a HEA for Avery, whoever she ends up choosing! ~ Kara, 4.5 stars

Well, damn!

So, this isn't one of those books that turns you into an emotional basket case or wows you with profound thoughts and heroics.

However, it is very well done for a fast & furious romantic drama (especially these 60 page series types) that's not too heavy but has an element of forbidden/taboo attraction between the female MC and her boyfriend's best friend.

I'm not big on books with unfaithful characters because I despise cheaters in both real life and fiction. So far, the storyline is fairly innocent in that he is fighting his attraction and she thinks he is her new BFF forever (yes, she's a little Pollyanna.)

The cliffhanger ending kiss may change that^ scenario, and if this progresses to a hidden affair, I'll be done and done. We shall see if this turns into douvhebag cheaters or honorable characters that follow their hearts without cutting out someone else's!

So, I'm off to get the second of the series to see how this goes down !!!?!?!?

This was a quick read but I really enjoyed it. From the synopsis, I was immediately drawn in. I love forbidden love stories. This story does remind me of Kellan and Kiera in the Thoughtless Series by SC Stephens. I'm dying to find out what happens next between Avery & Dylan. And if Josh finds out?!On to Part Two.

There were some spelling/grammar issues but totally forgivable!

***3.5 She Is Josh's Girl Stars***

This book was so similar to S C Stephen's "Thoughtless" that I had a difficult time keeping the books separate in my head as I read this book. Other than that, it was an interesting read and I will continue with the series to see how it all plays out.

The first part of this book gives you a glimpse into Avery and Dylan's initial meeting and their friendship as well as Avery's relationship with her boyfriend Josh... throughout the whole thing you know it is leading somewhere but the exact goes and whys could be just about anything. The story is similar to another series I adore but not so much that I don't also enjoy this one...

That Girl is Mine part 1

Avery and Josh started dating in college, Josh moved to NYC to go to medical school because he could not get in to one in LA.
They were very happy together they even though they were soul mates. When he got accepted to do his residency at his dream college at Children's Hospital in LA Avery was very happy for him but could not stand the thought of having a long distance relationship.
She decided that even thought she was not accepted to a university in LA she would pack-up and leave her dreams of becoming a Broadway dancer to move to LA with Josh.
Josh has no family around LA anymore his parents sold there house and travel the country, with no place to call their own and no income they move in with Joshes best friend and play boy Dylan. Dylan never went to college he is a tattoo artist who works by day and parties by night, never with the same girl twice let alone a relationship. He cant understand why Josh wants to settle down when they are so young.
Josh starts his internship and Avery has nothing to do so she starts looking for a school to go to and a job and trys to settle into her new life in a new city. Avery never expected to become such good friends with Dylan but one afternoon he came home and found Avery dancing she lost her balance and broke her ankle.
After that Dylan felt it was his duty to spend as much time with her as possible having lunch, taking her to work, cooking with her. Unfortunately he never expected to fall for her. Josh is so busy with the hospital that he is never around which makes it easier for this blossoming relationship to form. Avery never expected to loose her best friend and soul mate and find so much in Dylan or was Josh never her soul mate?
They cant ignore the feels that are developing and even though they try their hardest to ignore them they cant fight the growing attraction that is going on.
Dylan doesn't want to loose his best friend but he cant shake the feeling that Avery was meant to be his and not Joshes, Dylan is torn does he stay and fight for Avery and hope to gain her and loose his best friend or does he move to NY and loose them both to keep Josh?
This is the first book that I have rad by Eva Cates and I would give it 4 stars. She has a great writing style and she has a great story to tell. I found it hard to choose who to side with I fell in love with Josh and his desire to be a doctor and take care of Avery, but Dylan did a 180 and wants to be a better person because of Avery. This is a must read. Don't pass by this book I could not put it down

I really enjoyed this book The characters were strong the plot concise and the writing was very good. Keep in mind this is a three-part book, each one except the last being a cliffhanger. I didn't mind the cliffhanger thing (I usually try to stay away from them), since all three were on Kindle Unlimited. Just so you know this is a review for the entire three book series

This is your typical love triangle story. Avery and Josh move in with Josh's' old friend, Dylan. They are new to California and need a place to crash until they settle in.. Avery gave up her dreams (being a dancer in NY) to follow Josh to California to follow his dreams of becoming a doctor and interning at a children's' hospital. Dylan has always been a "bad" boy player type. Never having relationships and living the party life style. When he sees Avery, the attraction is instant and fierce. Throughout the book he tries his hardest to stay away from his friends girl, but it gets harder and harder as they get closer and when Avery starts realizing she may have feelings for Dylan as well. Most of the book consists of Avery trying to come to terms with loving two men and trying to chose. Throughout it all Dylan tries to be understanding and supportive and give Avery the time she needs to make her decision. Throughout it all you can feel the strength of their love and it touches your heart. I did try to hate Avery for being wishy/washy and for putting both men through it, but I really couldn't do it, I really believe she REALLY loved both men. Throughout it all my love of Dylan never wavered (swoon), he's sexy and sweet and just amazing throughout the whole book (except the back stabbing your best friend part, but he even managed to do that without being a total jerk). Eve Cates did an truly amazing job with the character of Josh. He manages to be a gentlemen (for the most part) even when faced with some truly shitty circumstances, AND he manages to not look like a total push over while doing it. Although there are many miscommunications, mishaps and obstacles standing in the way of HEA, true passionate love does eventually triumph.

This was a pretty good book. It reminded me of the Thoughtless series. Avery grew up with a single mother in New York City and she moves all the way across the country to Los Angeles for her boyfriend. Josh grew up in LA but went to college in New York City to become a doctor. He moves back to LA to Intern at a hospital there and loves and wants his girlfriend with him. Josh and Dylan grew up together and were best friends. Avery and Josh move in with Dylan when they move.

Avery is a good girl whose mother protected her pretty much. She loves to dance and it is her true passion. She has dreams of dancing on Broadway but she loves her boyfriend so she moves to LA where there aren't many professional dance opportunities. She doesn't really know anyone and her mother is far away. Josh works all the time so she gets pretty lonely. With her foot hurt, she can't do the one thing she loves most - dance.

Josh is a really good time but all of his time is pretty much dealing with work and the hospital. He is pretty closed off with his job and the people he deals with. He's busy and works all the time and just thinks Avery should be there for him but isn't really there for her.

Dylan is a great guy that is a tattoo artist with tattoos all over his body. He's gorgeous with a killer body. He's never been in love and his family is deceased. He's there for Avery and comes home for lunch and has dinner with her so she doesn't feel so alone. He can't control his lust and feelings toward her.

Worth reading.

"That Girl is Mine" was wonderful. It was Part one of the series.

I love the story of Josh, Avery and Dylan. Avery is the quiet girl that has not seen much in her life. Josh is her boyfriend and gets an internship for medical school at a Children's Hospital in California. They must both move in with Dylan, the tattoo artist and best friend of Josh's, until they can get on their feet.

Dylan starts to like Avery and he finds that very strange, for one, he is a man whore , and two, she is Josh's girlfriend. Dylan keeps his feelings to his self but as time goes by, he is falling more and more for Avery. Avery has a best friend now with Dylan, or so she thinks.

Will there be a ménage relationship in the making? Has Dylan found his soul mate and has to figure out a way to tell Josh? Part 2 should be an awesome continuation of this part one series.
The story was very good and I am on edge waiting for the next part of the story.

5 Stars of Tattooed Hotness

OMG I am so in love with this book right now. It kind of makes me think of the book Thoughtless by SC Stephens. Of course this book has only minimal similarities and I loved Thoughtless, as I loved this one. I can not wait to read more. It is a series so of course it ends leaving you wanting more but that is what makes Ms. Cates wonderful.

What happens when you meet a guy, become best friends then realize he may be your soul mate? Naturally you would run to be with this guy. One huge problem is that Avery is already in love with Josh, Dylan's best friend.

Could there be a love triangle afoot? Can you love two people at the same time? I am sure I will have the answers to these questions when the other parts to this series come out. I can tell you that this first part is AWESOME!

A short read that will keep you page turning and leave you wanting more!

Omg

Eve Cates is just awesome. She blew me away with the step brother series and now with a start to a new series that I can tell is going to be awesome. Josh and Dylan have been friends since high school, so it was easy for Dylan to agree to let Josh and his girlfriend stay til they get on their feet, but it wasn't that easy. Avery is excited about starting over in California, she loves to dance but now it's Josh chance to go after his dream of being a Dr. , she's enjoying stay with Dylan he isn't there much than Avery hurts herself and Dylan steps in to help, she sees the true side to Dylan, but is she really seeing what's going on. This book is is hot and it has just one sex scene, that mean the writing is amazing. Every time I read a scene with Avery and Dylan I got goose bumps. I so can't wait for the next one. I need it now.

5 Stars.... Loved it!

OK, I need to start off by saying this is completely out of the norm for me in regards to my reading preferences and normally I wouldn't like it or I may even steer clear from this type of story BUT I really loved it. Yea, very twisted of me, lololol!!!!!

It was a very quick read, actually not gonna lie, the serials are not exactly my favorite thing as I would much rather read one book, maybe 2 and 3 sometimes is just pushing me because there are so many books out there that I want to be able to read all of them but this was a fast read and I waited til the series was completed as well before I started!!!!!!!

Although this isn't my "norm", something about it was calling me to read it and I am glad I did.

I enjoyed reading the whole series even as bitter sweet as it was. Cheating has always been a sore spot for me so it was kind of impressive that Eve Cates could write a book series set around two people conducting an affair and still get me to feel for the characters. And I did. I felt for all 3 of the main characters. Ultimately, it ended perfectly in book three. I couldn't think of a better way to end the story.

This wasn't really a three book series though. It was more like 3 volume of one book still there was really just one story being told.
