definitely a five star read!

Amsterdam: A Serendipitous Love Story is exactly the kind of romance that makes you want MORE! I really enjoyed this book. It’s one of those sweet, feel-good love stories that leaves you craving more from the characters even after you’ve turned the last page.

And listen… Mr. Fontenot! 😍 I absolutely loved him. From the moment he saw Myrielle, this man KNEW she was going to be his wife. And y’all know I love a good love-at-first-sight story! There’s just something about a man who sees his woman and immediately knows, that’s my person. Through it all, his love for Myrielle remained undeniable, and I was HERE FOR IT.

The romance had that warm, swoony, “give me more of these two” feeling that kept me invested. I loved watching their connection unfold, and by the end, I wasn't ready to let them go. I could have easily read more!

The spice is about a 3/5 for me, but honestly, the emotional connection and sweetness of the romance are what really stood out. If you’re looking for a love story with fate, devotion, chemistry, and a man who knows what he wants, add this one to your TBR!

Dimonique definitely gave me the kind of romance that had me smiling and wanting another chapter. Five stars from me! 💕✨

This was an okay read from a new-to-me author. After an amazing one-night stand, a couple finds themselves placed back in each other’s orbit and has to navigate a few challenges before they can be together.

Myrielle was a bit annoying and very reactive at times. I found myself wishing she took a breath and communicated more instead of jumping to conclusions. I also wanted Zayden to stand up for himself a little more. It took him way too long to handle his mother. Also I’m usually a fan of a down-bad MMC, but something about him constantly begging Myrielle to give him a chance just didn’t work for me. Once they both got it together, they were a sweet, if somewhat bland, couple.

As a result, I found myself skimming certain sections because I struggled to stay engaged.

The story moved quickly, and the writing style took some getting used to. Overall, though, it was a decent, generally low-angst read. I’d be willing to pick up another book by this author.

This is a cute story. One night stand turned forever. It definitely had some drama getting there though. Fmc is a track star like girl settle down lol. That’s a good man Savannah. Zayden did not play bout Myrielle. Overall I enjoyed reading this.

📚✨ Book Review: Amsterdam: A Serendipitous Love Story ✨📚

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Picture this…

It’s your wedding day.

You’re standing at the altar about to marry a man you never truly loved. The only reason you’re even there is because your mother and grandmother convinced you that this was what you were supposed to do.

Then your entire world explodes.

Not only does the woman crashing your wedding reveal she’s your fiancé’s actual wife, but the baby she’s carrying is his. And to make matters worse? He was only using your family’s connections and money so they can start their lives together

Baby… all dignity left the building.

She did what any woman with self-respect would do. She beat the brakes off him. Then her daddy stepped in and added a few more lessons of his own. 😂

With her heart shattered and her name dragged through public humiliation, Myrielle falls into a dark place. But thankfully, her sister has the best idea ever:

“Forget the groom. We’re still taking the honeymoon.”

So off to Amsterdam they go.

And that’s where fate steps in.

Enter Zayden Fontenot.

Whew…

This man is fine and giving very BDE

From the moment he lays eyes on Myrielle, he’s completely convinced she’s going to be his wife. Meanwhile, she’s looking at this stranger like, “Sir… absolutely not.”

But Zayden isn’t easily discouraged.

He convinces her to spend one evening with him before she flies home. During that one unforgettable night, they discover they’re both from the same state… the same city… and they’ve both experienced the exact same heartbreak.

Zayden was jilted at the altar too.

What starts as one magical night quickly becomes something neither of them can forget.

Before they part ways, they make a promise:

If, one year later, neither of them is married… they’ll return to Amsterdam.

Now that’s my kind of second-chance-at-love setup.

Of course, love isn’t that simple.

Zayden comes from old money, and his mother is the definition of an elitist. She believes anyone without wealth is beneath their family and has spent years trying to handpick wives for her sons. When Zayden discovers she’s secretly been paying off the women he’s dated because she deemed them “unworthy,” he’s furious.

Meanwhile, he can’t stop thinking about Muriel.

Then fate works its magic one more time…

Of all the places in the world, he unexpectedly runs into her at her job.

At that point, Zanden is convinced destiny has spoken and baby, he applies pressure.

The kind of pressure I fully supported. 😂

And let me tell you…

This book was such a fun time.

The romance was swoony, the chemistry was undeniable, the serendipitous moments had me smiling, and the spice? Whew.

Zayden came with that possessive, obsessed, “you’re mine” energy that I absolutely love in a fictional book boyfriend. Protective, determined, and completely gone over one woman? Sign me up.

If you love:
💜 Second-chance love
💜 Serendipitous romance
💜 Love after heartbreak
💜 Protective, possessive heroes
💜 Wealthy family drama
💜 Instant attraction
💜 Black love
💜 Plenty of spice

…then Amsterdam: A Serendipitous Love Story deserves a spot on your TBR.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Zayden and Myrielle are so cute!! Both coming out of relationships where one was stood up at the alter and the other finds out the groom was married and had a family! Both of their family were trying to make them marry people they were not in love with just for social status! More so Zayden’s mom who paid off women to leave Zayden because she found them not worthy enough for their family! But in hindsight she was right because they took the money and ran including the one that left him at the alter! But Myrielle told her where she could shove that check!! Her love could not be bought! Zayden knwe he found the right one in Myrielle but his mom kept pushing the fake engagement to another woman and making Myrielle look like the other woman. That put a damper in their relationship so Zayden had to set his mom and the world straight so he can get his woman back and he did! That man made sure to tell everyone that Myrielle is his and his future wife and he made good on that!

If you Love Black Love Read this

baby i love a good slow burn and this one definitely did not disappoint. Zayden a fine ass billionaire is left at the alter.. at the same time Mirielle decides to call off her engagement. As faith has it they end up meeting up in Amsterdam. They promise each other one night, but could that one night possibly lead to more. Yall this was such a good story. This is the kind of romance that doesn’t rush to the finish line. It takes its time, allowing the relationship to unfold naturally against a backdrop of family expectations, personal struggles, and real-life complications. The emotional connection between the characters shines brighter than the drama, making every heartfelt moment feel earned.

A chance encounter in Amsterdam starts a year’s journey with this couple.

There is so much drama and obligations that are working against this couple- However, their battle to choose one another was fun to read.

Writing style- I loved the time jumps the author uses.

This story spans over a year and the author does a really good job pushing the story forward without losing the interest of the readers.

It was a little more spicer than I expected BUT I loved it!

The author used those spicy moments to establish and show the couple’s deep and intimate connection.

“You have a chance at real love with a man who is willing to set his world on fire to make sure that yours isn’t burning.”

This read… LOVED

One of my favorite themes in romance is watching someone choose love over expectations, and that’s exactly what Zayden does. Raised in wealth and a life where every decision (including who he would marry) was made for him, he’s willing to risk everything for the woman he loves.

Myrielle’s journey is just as captivating. As she begins to recognize her own worth, she refuses to let anyone else dictate her future. Discovering the truth about her family’s long hidden secret and finally understanding where she fits gives her the strength to fight for herself and the life she deserves.

Together, their story is filled with sacrifice, self discovery, and the courage to break free from the paths others have chosen for them. I couldn’t help but root for them every step of the way.

Thank you to Elle Kay Gee Publications for the ARC copy of Amsterdam ❤️

Called off wedding, solo trip to Amsterdam, and a chance encounter that changed everything. Baby, I was seated.

Myrielle and Zayden weren’t looking for love, but somehow fate kept bringing them back together. I loved watching two people carrying old wounds slowly find comfort, healing, and something worth taking a chance on.

Soft, romantic, and full of the kind of love that shows up when your life doesn’t go according to plan.

Myrielle was supposed to be on her honeymoon, but instead she ends up in Amsterdam alone after discovering her fiancé has a whole WIFE, kids, and another baby on the way! 😭 Meanwhile, Zayden has his own romantic baggage after being left at the altar.

Neither is looking for love, but one unforgettable night in Amsterdam turns into something neither of them expected. I really enjoyed Myrielle and Zayden together, but whew…the parents on BOTH sides worked my nerves! 😂 A cute, serendipitous romance!

Black Fairytale

I loved this book down. It reminded me of a Black Cinderella story (not necessarily the plot but the feelings and the vibes). Our FMC Myri just escaped a mess and Zayden unknowingly dodged a bullet. They meet in a passionate and steamy one night stand on vacation and that intensity follows them home. This couple had so much heart and the MMC is definite book boyfriend vibes. This was my first read by Dimonique and I cannot wait for read and support whatever she puts out 🧡.

Swoon worthy!!!

I swooned so many times! Zayden Fontenot…A MAN. A lover boy who wanted a wife, kids, the picket fence! And Myrielle, she deserved the world! This was such a good story from how they met, felt drawn to each other and how fate kept stepping in to keep them in each other’s orbit! The mess though?! Whew! I was in my feeelings about the shady people trying to keep them apart but love won in the end!!!

The pursuit of love

✨As a lover of black love this was a steady, low-angst slow-burn romance. This book focuses heavily on external family drama and obstacles, with a gentle pace and a dash of spice. It was a pleasant read. Recommended for readers who like a subtle, patient romance. It was the epitome of black love.

Love at first sight!

Myrielle and Zayden went through so much just to make it back to each other. Heartbreak, family meddling, and lies couldn't stop what fate had in store for them. I loved the fact that Zayden didn't allow her to get away. Sometimes you have to tear it all down and rebuild with who you truly want!

This was a good read. Zayden’s mom pissed me off though because why the hell you can’t just listen to what this man is telling you?! The FMC’s mom and grandma were assholes too. Every time she gave him another chance something else happened to get in the way. I wonder if anything will happen with the sister and Alec, I want to know her story too.

Gave me the feels

This has been one of the best romance books I've read in a long time. It is a true black romance book. Now it definitely had a plot and tension. Finding love is not easy and trusting it is even harder. But he was not letting her go. He fought for their love. Also the spice got my blood pumping. I would definitely recommend it.
