Yeah, a lot to take in. But rather interesting.
The author of this manga is obviously if not highly educated in Japanese folklore, is at least studies it as a hobby. This series has really been very educational from that viewpoint. Seriously, a professor could use this series as reference material for a class on the subject. Very interesting. Also very perverse. Classic Ghost Ship. Because bewbs. And bums. And ya-yas lol XD. Definitely not for under 18. It's been a very fun series so far. A few creepy parts, but mostly just sexual innuendo. Art, great. Dialogue, fairly good. A little too much emphasis on sound effects. Reminds me of CLAMP, although nowhere near as refined. Characters, likeable, for the most part, & very interesting.

Returning to this manga after a rather long time. I think when I checked my last Goodreads reviews it seemed I read Volume 2 back in 2020? Damn! But I've owned Volumes 3 and 4 almost this whole time as well...! To be honest, I was trying to catch up a little bit on a handful of ecchi manga I started collecting ages ago, and noticed this series is in danger of going out of print, so I'm kinda-sorta clamoring to grab the remaining volumes. I guess I blindly trusted Seven Seas / Ghost Ship would keep more shit in circulation considering To Love Ru is still good, but... I mean, that's like the biggest series they print under the Ghost Ship label, so it's kind of unfair to use it as a reference point, no?
Anyway, seems in my last review I already touched on the fact that the manga was getting more battle-y. The same is definitely true here as well. We're not quite in the point of having special techniques with fancy names or things like that, and Yatsuki doesn't combine with Rokka or anyone in this volume at all, so things remain somewhat grounded. We'll see how things go. The last pages hint at the arrival of probably a Tengu (okay, they mention "wind" but I saw ahead in Volume 4 that the guy is a Tengu...), so he might be a big deal for like a more "serious" arc. Kind of hyped, not gonna lie. I think I said in my Volume 2 review as well that I'm kind of rooting for this manga to go full-on with battles.
We get a new main-ish cast member in this volume, by the way. Kei, a human girl who turns out to have a homosexual crush on Momo. It's pretty interesting because when she "comes out" it's a pretty big emotional moment, but then immediately in the next chapter (or actually specifically the omake between chapters) she becomes one of those stock archetypal "gropey pervert lesbian" characters you see sometimes, like the red-haired glasses chick in Bleach.

I am really enjoying this series! It provides such in depth knowledge on Yokai that I am learning more than I ever thought I would from this series. I am liking the cast of characters that are being brought in, they all feel like they add to the overall story.
It was a great read and kept my attention until the end. I will definitely be continuing this series, I am excited to see where it goes.
