Mashing by Sean Michael

Book three in the Beer and Clay series

Life is good for Toby and Damon—maybe too good. What happens when someone seems intent on destroying their happiness?

Toby and Damon are growing closer every day, with Toby recovering from the shot to his shoulder and Damon trying to keep him from pushing too hard too fast. Things are good between them.

They’re even better in the bedroom, where Toby is learning all sorts of new things and Damon is happily pushing his limits.

They’ve almost forgotten that someone doesn’t seem as happy with their closeness as they are, when Toby walks into his studio to find it trashed and his little apartment ransacked. Are the authorities going to be able to apprehend the culprit before Toby decides the best course of action is to remove himself from the equation?

The Beer and Clay series

They say opposites attract and Corner Pub owner Damon and shy artist Toby attest to that.

Toby’s happy with his predictable life, even if he does secretly wear a plug to the Corner Pub every Thursday night. But when Damon shows him the word of the sub/Dom lifestyle, his Thursday night plug-wearing suddenly seems tame.

Join these two men as they explore plugs, piercings and making more than art and ale in this new series by Sean Michael.

About Sean Michael

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organising his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channelling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago".

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Yes yes, I need to know who done it damn it.

This time Toby's apartment and studio are trashed and lots of his work destroyed. Meanwhile Patrick and Christian buy a building which conveniently has studio space, a place for a restaurant for Christian and an apartment. (How rich is Patrick?) More drama, more plugs (I'm still pretty sure you should take breaks from those things) more sex, more about Patrick and Christian and FINALLY they catch the bad guy and it was kind of anti-climactic. Eh.

So I kept going to find out who it was. The other book is about Patrick and Christian and I just don't care enough to find out how they met. You are more or less told everything in these three. I don't need to read another 75 page long sex scene.

In this third book of the ‘Beer and Clay’ series, sculptor Toby and his Dom, bar owner Damon, have to deal with the aftermath of Toby being shot. He is physically healing, but the mental and emotional process is more complicated. The good news is that Toby is slowly beginning to trust Damon outside the bedroom as well as when Damon pushes his sexual limits with all kinds of new-to-Toby toys. The fact that the perpetrator is still around and escalates his threats does not help one bit! The result is a hot story with an underlying threat that makes everyone nervous – and had me paying close attention.

Toby is getting used to Damon taking care of him, and beginning to recognize he may need it. When he overdoes the sculpting on the first day he is allowed back to work, Damon is right there to fix things. Toby still isn’t sure whether it’s okay to need Damon and what he does to him so much, but he doesn’t seem to have much choice.

When Toby’s studio and old apartment are destroyed and he has no place left to go, the first real test of their new relationship has Toby wanting to run and Damon trying very hard not to lock him up in his apartment above the bar so that he is safe. Damon has already fallen in love, so it’s more difficult for him to step back and let Toby make the decision of what’s next. Luckily some friends of theirs, Christian and Peter, are right there to help – in more ways than anticipated.

If you want to know what’s happening with Toby and Damon, if you enjoy watching an experienced Dom figure out what’s best for his new sub, and if you’re looking for a hot read with some tense moments, then you will probably like this novella.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

It felt warm and cozy to get back into Damon and Toby's lives. They have such a loving relationship and are so completely into each other, no holds bared.

There is still a cloud hang over their lives as someone is determined to harm them. But life goes on and we Damon and Toby spend more time with their friends Peter and Christian, a couple I'd like to get to know more. The presence of Peter and Christian gives us the hottest scene in this series so far which is saying something. This is a story with loads of sex.

There is no resolution to the ongoing storyline which I presume means we are getting more of Damon and Toby. I'm looking forward to more.

This is the second time I’ve read the Beer & Clay series. It’s classic Sean Michael. If you like sexy M/M BDSM with lots of sexy and not much plot this series fills the bill.

This book is part of a series and should be read in order.

The book opens up with Toby and Damon still happy and in love with each other. Toby has finally received the approval of his doctor to start sculpting again. Leaving Damon a little worried that Toby will overdo it.

Damon is still pushing Toby’s limits every chance he gets, and Toby is certainly enjoying it. One thing you can count on with Sean Michael, the sex will be damn hot. And this was no different. The sex was off the wall in the hot factor. And there was a hell of a lot of it.

I do like and enjoy both men. They are really adorable, and absolutely steaming sexy together. I enjoy the way Damon is bringing Toby out of his self-imposed shell. Toby still gets embarrassed by certain things, but his world is definitely opening up.

Toby is simply cute. There is no other way to descriptive him. He is innocent, shy, sweet, and yet there is sensuality to him. When he lets go and submits totally to Damon he is truly free.
Damon is everything loving a Dom should be. He takes care of Toby, not only sexually. But also mentally and physically. He tries not to allow Toby to push himself too much while he is still recovering. He also holds onto Toby when he spirals after another visit by the mysterious attacker.

The only issue I have is the fact that the issue of whoever is causing trouble for Toby and Damon is being dragged out. Once again the person strikes, and at the end there is no resolution or clue who is doing it. I find that a bit annoying.

Overall, this was a very sexy read, with some nice tender moments. I look forward to reading more about these two.

This is book three in the series and should be read in order to really understand the charaters and what’s going on.
Unlike the other two, this one really picks up right where we left off, Toby is still healing from the gun shot and Damon is still being protective and teaching him the finer points of a D/s relationship. We also have more interaction with Peter and Christian.
Such a great continuation of this story. We get more in depth feelings and knowledge of not just Toby and Damon but with Christian and Peter. All the while wondering when the next strike is going to happen. I love how these four work so well together, how they are building a business together. The anticipation of what is coming next is almost to much.

Omg...this series is seriously frustrating me now....who is harrassing Damon and Toby...I really need to know who it is...poor Toby in this one just can't cut a break...he's healing from his gunshot wound then he has his apartment and studio trashed he then sees someone following his man.......I so want to just pick him up and hug him so tight.....He does have one good thing though....apart from Damon...and that's Christian...Peter's Sub who we met in the last book...they seem to be getting on really well and Toby is opening up to his submission too....I really love this series but Sean needs to hurry up with the next one and we know there'll be a next one because we need to know who is after them.....x

Unbelievable!!!!! Damon, pure 100% Dom, kinky, sexy as sin, but also patience, caring, devoted, and hopelessly in love.
Damon, is letting Toby go at his own pace, just taking him far enough so he doesn't break the trust these two have developed. Sweet, shy, Toby, I adore him. I'm hoping to find out who is threatening them, so the can move on and live the life they both deserve.
Hope to see more of Christian and Peter as well
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS, FANTASTIC STORY AMAZING SERIES!!!!!

Damon and Toby have more danger to face and deal with but we are seeing them become a stronger couple as they move forward. They are able to read each other so much better. We also get to see Christian and Peter getting closer to each other.

It was also nice to see how the four of them relating to each other as friends.

Another great installment in their ongoing story.

So good

Again I'm in love with another one of Sean's books! I just adore this series. Toby is just so perfect. I want to hug him and never let him go. But I think that is what Damon is going to do. I so look forward to the next book in this sweet series.
