Born December 1st in the prefecture of Osaka. He began his career in 2008 with a short story called "Kui King Omega" pre-published in the pages of Akamaru Jump (Shueisha). Subsequently, he signed up for a few short stories in the Weekly Champion before starting “Magical Girl of the End” for Monthly Champion in 2012. The series was so popular that it launched a spin-off, “Magical Girl Site” which is pre-published on the website “Champion Tap!”, in July 2013. But his success did not, however, go to his head and he remains extremely helpful for readers. He is also active on the internet and on Twitter, often sharing sketches and answering questions for his fans. He participates at Comicket, where he sells directly its original productions as fanzines.
His circle name is known as おさげ (pigtails), most known to attend Comiket to fans.
The new fusions, the twist ending about who was controlling this mess and the great character development for Kogami Kii, all of these have made for a decently but still flawed series and I hope it continues to go in a good direction now that I’ve crossed the half way point.
I don't know exactly what to think of the idea of manga having "seasons," but this book marks the end of "season one" of Magical Girl Apocalypse. And damn, what an ending it was! Mayhem, intrigue, betrayal--this volume has pretty much everything you could ask for. Being that this does mark the end of a "season," I don't know if that means there's going to be a longer-than-usual break before the next volume comes out or not. But given how much proverbial shit hits the fan by the end of this one, the next installment can't come fast enough.
When I picked up the first volume of this series on a whim oh, so long ago, I never would have expected to still be reading, 7+ volumes later. But here I am, eagerly awaiting more. Magical Girl Apocalypse continues to be a remarkably fun sleeper hit, and I couldn't be happier with it.
Well, the season one finale seems to be a good place to quit reading this series. I only read so far 'cuz I got vols. 4-8 from the library all at the same time. There are a few scenes of ultraviolence that are shocking, but the misogyny of the fan service and the dullness of the plot just make this a miserable read despite its promising start. That seems to be a frequent problem with Japanese manga. Things like Attack on Titan and Death Note and World Trigger have some cool starting concepts. But then as the creators realize they actually need to create chapter after chapter they get bogged down in introducing new characters, expanding the plot and pandering to the audience. I wish volume 8 had even half the creativity and energy of volume 1, but that's a hard trick to pull off apparently. Good riddance.
This is the first manga series that I know that is seasons, and this volume marked the end of season 1. Most of our questions were answered, and I was still confused about who characters were, but this is the first volume in a while I understood most of. I am excited to check out season 2.
I'm only mildly interested in these after reading Vol 7 and Vol 8, but my library has more of the series so I'll continue since they're a quick read and I do like the illustrations (the dark gory mixed with the overly cutesy magical girls is great).
The series is taking a more dark turn, but not in a good way. I'm hoping the rest of the series doesn't continue to focus on the rent-a-cop creep
The ending of this volume said it was the end of season 1, so I'm taking that as my opportunity to drop the series. It started off interesting enough, but fell off for me after the first few volumes, and I'm really not enjoying the 1000 different directions it's taking.
The whole tone of the series has changed now. So if I stay in it, I'm in it for a different reason and I'm not sure it's a good enough reason to keep reading. As I said last volume, it just feels overly complex and convoluted. And the whole waiting-a-week-while-I-go-to-the-future bit is ridiculous because you can go to the future and come back to the exact same moment. I get that it was the dude's way of drawing out the enemy, but the others should have called him on that. And if you're in the future, don't you have all that information about the past accessible to you in some fashion? The way the series used time travel in earlier volumes was pretty cool, but the author's mucking about in it now, and not being all that careful about how he does it. The internal logic has gotten shaky.
WELCOME TO THE END OF THE WORLD. Or not. This marks the end of Season 1 and good ending for a season and finally found out Himiji is the true criminal in the series and back in the future we go, depending on which timeline we are in. However the final chapter in the volume is most intriguing can't wait for the Future Arc in the manga
