As someone who assists in a primary school library I read a lot of children's books, and there are certain things I look for in an ideal book: a good and engaging story, good English, some kind of message to take away, something to learn, and humour. The Big Life of Remi Muldoon has all of those and is now one of my favourite books for this age group.

Remi Muldoon. Fantasmagorical

He’s special. His Mom knows it, and being the fantasmagorical Mom she is she does everything she can to help him realize it.
I’m looking forward to reading this with my Grandkids.

The author seemed to be inspired by a lot of ideas from other stories that were set in the 1980s or early 1990s. Knowing this his target audience will think the stories are fresh.
The writing is good and the story is engaging. Plus it teaches some history along with friendship.
