Pearly Gates #3

The Jingle Rebellion

Not yet published
Expected 10 Nov 26
She’s the unstoppable Holiday Spirit. He’s a reluctant Hot Santa. Saving Christmas just got complicated.

Spirit guide Pearly Gates has shared countless lives—and holidays—with her soulmate, Thunder. But after he misses their annual holidate and is placed on mandatory leave for burnout, even their timeless romance could use a little Christmas magic.

Then Pearly’s sent to Bellhaven, where a grieving high school principal has canceled the beloved holiday musical once directed by his late husband. Disguised as a custodian and drawing on her past-life experience as a drag queen, Pearly rallies his furious daughter and a band of determined theater kids to stage an unauthorized replacement: The Jingle Rebellion, a musical about a mourning Santa who cancels Christmas—and the elves who refuse to surrender their joy.

When the production finds an unlikely home at the local roller rink, Pearly persuades Thunder to don the red suit. Soon they’re surrounded by roller-skating elves, improvised costumes, new romance, queer found family, and a town determined to make the season sparkle.

But putting on a show is easier than fixing the people you love. To save Christmas—and their own happily-ever-after—Pearly and Thunder may have to stop clinging to their familiar roles and make room for something new.

Funny, festive, and full of glittery holiday chaos, The Jingle Rebellion is a heartfelt cozy fantasy about Christmas magic, found family, and a love that must change to endure.

This third Pearly Gates adventure can be enjoyed as a standalone.

I don’t think it’s any secret that I absolutely fell
In love with Pearly Gates when I met her in Bonnie Solomon’s first novel, so when she reached out to me with and offer to listen to an advance copy of book three, I jumped at the chance, I think I replied yes immediately! So thank you Bonnie both for the advanced copy and the opportunity to love Pearly even more. If it were possible to request my very own spirit guide Pearly would be too of the list.

This time around Pearly is tasked with saving Christmas, and every second of the book was pure joy. She’s sassy she’s funny and she’s all heart, but alongside her are a cast of brilliant characters and a story that is cozy Christmas movie worthy!

Loved this one! I'm so happy I stumbled upon Pearly Gates one day on netgalley because this series is so fun and I could probably read about their misadventures for forever. This one is holiday themed with Pearly tasked with helping a grieving widow bring back some holiday spirit after his husband dies. Thunder also gets a POV and a prominent role in this one and I loved it so much.

Hot Santa, Holiday Spirit & Christmas Shenanigans! Narrated by the author herself The Jingle Rebellion was pure holiday fun! Full of cozy cuteness, easy to listen, Christmas magic with humorous banter, romance, small community feels, family, and Holiday chaos.

Pearly Gates is a hilarious, unforgettable Holiday Spirit determined to save Christmas and she absolutely stole the show! Add a reluctant Hot Santa, rebellious theater kids, roller rinks, second chances, and plenty of heart, and I was ALL IN.

Funny, uplifting, Christmas magic spirits, and completely entertaining. This audiobook genuinely lifted my spirits!

I listened in under 6 hours! This is Book 3, which I didn’t realize going in, but I never once felt like I was missing anything from the previous books. It’s definitely okay to listen as a standalone!

Release date 11/01/2026.

Thank you Netgalley, Audio ARC provided by Victory Editing for the Audiobook.

So, full disclosure: this is my first experience with this author, and I was also dipping into the middle of a series. This is book three, which I didn’t realize when I requested it on NetGalley. But that’s okay because it absolutely can be read as a standalone. I was easily able to glean any background information I needed from what was included in this installment.

Before we get any further, thank you to the author for the complimentary ALC via NetGalley. This was the first of several holiday books I’ve read that have started getting me into the “spirit.” Yes, it’s three months early, but… publishing and the life of an ARC reader! 😂

My biggest criticism comes down to the format: the audiobook. Would my opinion have changed if I’d read this as an eARC? Possibly. I do think the overall experience would have been better for me in that format. That said, I think I still would have landed at a 4⭐️ rating for Goodreads, so from a rating standpoint, it’s irrelevant.

From a personal enjoyment standpoint, though, the audiobook did affect my experience. It’s narrated by the author, who is clearly not a professional narrator. Does she do a good job compared to the average person? Absolutely! But there’s a natural cadence and flow to prose that professional narrators tend to have, and that was missing here. And that isn’t a criticism of the prose itself because clearly, that’s where her talent lies!

She speaks fairly quickly, which I don’t mind at all, but the rhythm just isn’t there in the same way it is with a professional narrator who has a naturally faster speaking pace. This becomes especially noticeable when you increase the playback speed. At 2x, it became significantly harder for me to understand what was being said. The pitch itself isn’t dramatically affected, but the inflections are, and I think that comes back to the rhythm of the narration.

You can also hear a difference in the overall production quality, particularly with the ambient sound, when compared with other audiobook productions. I’m mentioning this because I know I have some picky audio followers, and since audiobooks are such a big part of my reading, I want to be transparent about my experience.

Ultimately, audiobook experiences are incredibly subjective and personal. I can absolutely appreciate and applaud that an independently published book has an audiobook version at all, and this is by no means a bad audiobook. I’m simply explaining why the experience didn’t work quite as well for me as it could have.

Now, onto the positives!

The description calls this “Hallmark Movie meets Footloose, only gayer,” and I agree… almost. Actually, I think it’s much better than a Hallmark movie. And don’t get me wrong, I love me some Hallmark Christmas movies, but being compared to one isn’t always a positive when it comes to a book. This story has much more depth to it.

If you’re looking for a fun holiday read filled with whimsy, “magical” characters, high school musicals, magic, dancing, and romance, this is a great way to spend some time. But one of my favorite things about it is the inclusion and acceptance of queer characters without ever turning it into a soapbox moment.

It just is.

And honestly, that’s what makes the acceptance feel so genuine.

I am grateful to have received an advanced copy of the audiobook from the author.

I recently passed a difficult milestone, five years since my husband died of cancer. I only mention this because since his death, holidays have been especially difficult. I didn't know if I could connect with a book that takes place during the festive holiday season, but Pearly Gates never disappoints.

Ms. Solomon understands that sadness and joy do not happen in sequence, one giving way to the other once you've done "the work." They often happen simultaneously, so that one minute I was laughing at unionizing gingerbread people and the next I'm undone by a father's fleeting memory of his lost son.

I also related to the story as a parent balancing my child's grief while navigating my own. Kids find stability in continuing old traditions, but for parents, they shine a spotlight on who is missing.

The Pearly and Thunder storyline could have been decorative. It isn't, because it asks the question underneath everything else: can a love survive being changed? Not preserved, changed. That's the question that follows you into widowhood too, in a different form. What you had can't stay the way it was. The only version that lasts is the one that's allowed to become something else.

Ms. Solomon has knocked it out of the park again with this funny, warm, and bedazzled story that never asks the reader to put their own grief aside. I loved this book so much and will recommend it to all my widowed and non widowed friends.

What the holy jingle did I just read? What a fun, fabulous, outrageously funny Christmas read!

Pearly Gates and Thunder, soulmates who live in the afterlife as…souls, have a long and varied history of incarnations together in the real world. Now a spirit guide, Pearly gets an assignment to help a grieving high school principal reclaim the spirit of Christmas. Thunder, who plays a mean game of pickleball, comes along for the fun because he was laid off from the soul nursery and has some time on his hands.

Pearly manifests as a custodian at the school to help Principal Neil and his daughter, Genesis, rediscover the true meaning of Christmas after the unexpected death of Neil’s husband. Using her former-life skills as a drag queen, among other things, Pearly comes barreling into their lives, and it’s just pure fun, glittery chaos, and heartwarming scenes sprinkled with a touch of magic.

Humor-forward, this book is also touching and makes all of us rethink our purpose in this lifetime and the lives that we touch along the way. I couldn’t put this book down.

This is the third book in Bonnie Solomon’s Pearly Gates series, but it reads wonderfully as a standalone. I will definitely be reading the first two now—and I’ll be first in line for the next one.

"It’s like 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘦 meets Hallmark, only gayer.”

Bonnie Solomon is the diva of heartfelt cozy fantasy served with humour, wisdom, and a sprinkling of glitter. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 is all that, and much more. There are Victorian carollers, sleigh rides, gingerbread lattes, rollerskating elves, and so many other fabulous examples of Christmas joy!

Yet not everyone feels able to go all-in during the holiday season. For some, it's a time of loneliness, grief, and uncertainty, when opting out feels like the safest way to avoid further heartbreak. With sensitivity and gentle insight, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 acknowledges these valid feelings, while also making space for healing and reflection.

This story left me feeling moved, inspired, and surprisingly eager to skip over pumpkin spice season in favour of peppermint mochas!

If heartwarming and hilarious queer cozy fantasy is your vibe, you absolutely must add 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 to your holiday TBR. In fact, add all the Pearly Gates novels to your wishlist, because while this delightful story can be read as a standalone, trust me you will adore the entire series!

Many thanks to NetGalley the publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘑𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯! I look forward to re-reading it December.

Pearly Gates gets a holiday special!

When a book starts with the gingerbread men revolting, you know you’re in for a good time. Expect all the things we know and love from a Pearly Gates novel, but make it Christmas. This time, Pearly is sent back to earth to help guide a grieving soul. As per usual, she ends up helping everyone around her too – even if the line between help and overstepping gets a bit blurred.

If you’re rooting for Pearly and Thunder, their relationship gets a solid amount of airtime and we see Thunder explore his own sense of self. If you haven’t read the previous two books, I would encourage you to (because they are super) but it is not a requirement. All the key points to get you up to speed are woven into the plot.

I really enjoyed the high school setting, as well as the family dynamic and differences between a grieving partner (who is the principal) and their grieving daughter. A forbidden musical and a community rallying round to save the roller rink was a fun way to keep the holiday feel-good spirit amongst some weightier topics.

I’m pleased to report that the audiobook was just as brilliantly performed as the previous two titles in the series. There is no need to be wary of the author’s narration, Bonnie knows what she is doing!

Thanks to Bonnie Solomon, Bonsol Press and NetGalley for providing me with an advance listener copy in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

4.5⭐ / 5 🎧 / 2 🌶️ / 2 🧠 (clear plot).

The Jingle Rebellion by Bonnie Solomon is a delightful holiday read! Protagonist, Pearly Gates, is a highly entertaining character who oozes holiday spirit! She is a high energy, sparkly, sequined force of nature.

Pearly, a spirit guide from the after life, is called upon to help a family in crisis. Teenager Genesis and her father, Neil, have recently suffered a devastating loss. Genesis’s Papa and Neil’s husband, Randy, passed away leaving behind a devastating daughter and partner.

In his grief Neil, the school principal, cancels the annual school Christmas production. The play had been directed by Randy and was a highlight of the holiday season. Neal, however, simply cannot face anything that reminds him of Randy.

Genesis is very upset and decides to take matters into her own hands. Enter Pearly, and her partner Thunder as they attempt to save the school play and, more importantly, bring Genesis and Neil together.

This heartwarming story explores themes of family, loss and friendship. It also illustrates that where there is love healing can occur.

I highly recommend The Jingle Rebellion by Bonnie Solomon.

Pearly Gates is back and ready for a new mission as a spirit guide. He unstoppable enthusiasm and bubbly personality is infectious to all around even if they don't want to catch it.

The soul in need of help is a high school principal who is trying to keep things together after his husband died. To do this he is trying to ignore the joyful things that they and their teenage daughter loved to do including Christmas and the annual musical. Their daughter is unhappy with this and is rebelling.

Thunder is working too hard and is finding it difficult to relinquish control until this is forced upon him. What better time to take a trip.

I loved listening to Pearly Gates and her trip to Paris as a spirit guide so I was delighted to get an advanced copy of this book. Although The Midnight Croissant remains my favourite I thoroughly enjoyed this book and binge listened to it. The author is also the narrator and although this is not always a good idea Bonnie does a really excellent job of it and is definitely the right voice for Pearly.

Many thanks to the author, NetGallery and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The jingle rebellion is a heartwarming and sweet holiday novel about love, community and holiday cheer. But it is also more than that. It’s also a story about grief and burnout and finding your way to yourself and those you love. Even though this novel offers plenty of laughs there are also some more somber moments that tugs at your heartstrings.

Don't fret if you haven't read the first book in the series, I did not find it to be necessary in order to follow the plot, it works great as a stand alone novel. I absolutely loved the magic and the worldbuilding in this novel and I am looking forward to reading more Pearly Gates novels!

Pearly is a really charming and endearing protagonist and you can't help but root for her and Thunder. And of course I love the queer normative perspective and queer representation in this novel. We need more books with queer love and queer joy!

I absolutely adore these characters.

Pearly and Thunder are such an effing vibe. Deeply devoted to each other. Supportive and open.

They're not perfect though, and they recognize that they both still have room to grow and learn about the other as they move through their existence.

This entry in the series focuses on grief and how it can freeze you. Make you shut down and block out the people in your life that love you. As Pearly tries to guide her newest charge through his grief (by guide I mean a *gentle* shove in the right direction by the people who love him), she once again finds herself using her flair for the unconventional to show an entire town the path to a happier place.

Grief takes many forms, and finding our way through it can leave us lost, but it's easier with lots of help.

I loved my time with Solomon's stories and I hope there are many more to come.

I love the Pearly Gates series. This book is perfect is you are looking for a cozy, feel good, not romance focused holiday themed fantasy novel. This story follows Pearly as she helps both her latest charge, Neil, and her partner, Thunder, navigate major changes in their lives. As usual, Pearly's positive and persistent out of that box attitude help her accomplish her mission with humor and flare. Of course there is sparkling and bedazzling galore. I think the great thing about Bonnie's writing is that she strikes the right blend of character growth and humorous hijinks. I honestly can't wait to see what adventures Pearly goes on next. Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved everything about this. It was absolutely delightful to be back in Pearly's world and it's CHRISTMAS! You don't need to read the first two books to read this one as the author does a great job incorporating background info throughout the story. I felt like we got a much deeper look at Pearly and Thunder's relationship in this one and I really appreciated Pearly's personal growth not only in this book but throughout the series. This book tackles some really heavy hitting topics while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend for a cozy, thoughtful, and magical holiday read!

“The Jingle Rebellion” is a delightful, festive addition to the Pearly Gates series. This time, Pearly, the effervescent spirit guide, is sent on a special assignment to save Christmas in a small town where a high school principal’s grief over his husband’s death leads to the cancellation of the annual Christmas musical. But his teenage daughter, with the help of Pearly and Pearly’s soulmate, Thunder, mount an original, homemade musical with her friends that captures the Christmas spirit for the townspeople. Thunder’s side story in this novel, about his mandatory leave from his nursing job and his subsequent search for purpose, adds another layer of depth to this fun and merry ride that had me in huge smiles throughout the pages. Highly recommended!

This was SO FUN! All of the holiday vibes, while also tackling some really hard and heavy topics in such a beautiful way.

This story to me was like the story of the ghosts of Christmas past and Ru Paul’s drag race made a holiday story baby.

I loved learning about Pearly and Thunder’s relationship and his struggle with burnout. I absolutely adored the way Pearly approached the situation with Genesis. It was written in such a beautiful way that displayed people coming to terms with moving through their own grief rather than being forced through it.

The roller rink and Christmas musical concept was SO FUN, and the seat at the show….😭 I really enjoyed the narrator on this one as well. :)

Thank you for the opportunity to read this sprinkle of holiday joy early ✨

Everything Bonnie writes is magic! This one was just as full of love and glitter as the others in the series. Pearly is a huge hug of embracing yourself and being unapologetic for existing, which spoke to my heart. These books help you to realize that we are all just humans, no one is better than anyone else, and you never know what someone else has going on privately/internally. The author weaves a story of found family, love, discovering yourself, and acceptance of yourself and the gifts shared by those around you.

Also, the author narrates the audio and it is great!

I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of The Jingle Rebellion, and I think it may be my favorite Pearly Gates novel yet.

Bonnie Solomon has written a Christmas story that is hilarious, unapologetically queer, gloriously camp, and far more emotionally perceptive than its rhinestone-covered surface might initially suggest. There are rebellious elves, a roller-skating musical, celestial bureaucracy, pickleball, a disco angel, and heaps of holly jolly chaos, but at its heart, this is a story about grief and the complicated ways we try to protect ourselves from it.

Neil has lost his husband and responded by shutting down every tradition that might reopen the wound. His daughter Genesis is grieving the same person, but she needs those memories kept alive. Their conflict is painful because neither of them is wrong about the depth of the loss. They have simply become stranded on opposite sides of it.

Pearly arrives, as Pearly is apt to do, determined to repair the situation in fabulous shoes, but one of the novel’s greatest strengths is its understanding that compassion is not the same as control. Sometimes helping means acting. Sometimes it means listening, staying, and allowing another person to find their own way forward. Pearly’s growth feels like a beautiful continuation of everything established in Midnight Croissant.

Thunder’s parallel story moved me just as much. I see a lot of myself in Thunder. Forced to step away from the work that has defined him, he has to confront the frightening possibility that being loved and being needed are not the same thing.

His relationship with Pearly remains one of the warmest and most emotionally mature romances I have encountered in this kind of fiction. Their love is playful and sexy, but it also makes room for uncertainty, frustration, vulnerability, and change.

As someone who grew up in a small town like this, I recognized Bellhaven immediately. Solomon captures the gas lamps, Victorian storefronts, forested hills, eccentric locals, and particular enchantment of Victorian Christmas without reducing the town to a generic holiday postcard. It feels specific, affectionate, and alive.

The humor is constant, but never used to dodge the hard stuff. What I love about how this book tackles weighty emotional issues like grief is that there's this wisdom and hard-fought understanding that laughter is not a betrayal of the people we have lost. Sometimes joy is how we carry them forward.

The Jingle Rebellion is funny, tender, wildly imaginative, and full of hard-earned hope. It left me wanting to throw on an ugly Christmas sweater (In August!), gather the people I love, and make some messy, ridiculous joy together.

Disclaimer: I received a free ebook copy of The Jingle Rebellion as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Having loved the first two books in the series, I think The Jingle Rebellion may be my favourite instalment yet. It is a cosy, heartfelt Christmas fantasy that delivers plenty of festive charm while still carrying real emotional weight. It would be a wonderful choice for anyone looking for a comforting holiday read to curl up with.

I connected more deeply with the characters in this book than I did in the first two, particularly Thunder.
Pearly and Thunder’s relationship had a stronger emotional impact for me this time, and this was the first book in the series to make me a little teary.

One of the greatest strengths of the series has been Pearly’s character growth. I love her upbeat attitude and the fact that she is able to admit when she is wrong. Her character arc over the three books has been phenomenal, and it was especially rewarding to see how far she has come since the first book. As a spirit guide who was a drag queen in her previous life, Pearly is such a vibrant and memorable character. The story also includes LGBTQ+ characters and representation, which I appreciated.

Although reading the first two books first will add to the emotional impact of Pearly and Thunder’s relationship, it is not essential. Returning characters are introduced with enough context that new readers can follow the story without feeling lost. This means the book works equally well as a standalone cosy holiday read or as a continuation for existing fans.

I also have to mentionBonnie’s absolutely gorgeous book covers. I love the cover designs and think they suit the books beautifully.

I would definitely recommend The Jingle Rebellion to readers who enjoy LGBTQ+ books, cosy fantasy, heartfelt stories, and Christmas magic. It is my favourite book in the series so far, and it earns a very enthusiastic five out of five stars from me.

**The Jingle Rebellion: A Pearly Gates Story** is exactly the kind of delightfully cozy holiday story I didn’t know I needed in my life.

From the very first pages, Solomon creates a world where the afterlife is anything but predictable and where gingerbread people can unionize. Holiday entertainment goes spectacularly off the rails, and our familiar main character and her soulmate find each other across lifetimes and incarnations.

What really hooked me was the voice. Pearly is funny, self-aware, a little chaotic, and wonderfully human despite being dead(ish). The craft of Solomon's humor feels clever rather than forced, and underneath all the absurdity is a surprisingly tender exploration of love and partnership, and what it means to keep choosing someone.

I especially loved the concept of an afterlife that still contains the wonderfully ridiculous inconveniences of being alive. Apparently death doesn't exempt you from relationship problems, holiday expectations, or rebellious baked goods- I felt so seen!

This story is festive, imaginative, irreverent, romantic, and completely charming. A perfect read for anyone who likes their holiday fiction with a little magic, a lot of personality, and a healthy dose of gingerbread rebellion.

Five stars. I’m forever rooting for Pearly, Thunder, and the cookies.

Think this book is not your vibe? You're probably wrong.

A Gay Hallmark movie for all is RIGHT!

This was one of the most intriguing cozy books I have ever picked up and I am generally NOT a fan of cozy--but THIS book? Big fan. The diversity and representation comes off naturally and I think there is a little of all of us in this book. I found I actually empathized quite a bit with Thunder--the type A always needing to get things done and looking out for everyone else type? Yeah, you and me both need a vacation buddy.

I will also say another major win for this book is it never comes off as kamp. It's very grounded, and at the same time delightful. Genesis and even her dad won me over. Pearly was a solid presence throughout and I felt like she guided me well along this ride.

It also had me sitting in my feelings on more than one occasion surrounding loss and the holidays.
"I thought keeping the world exactly as she left it would mean I hadn't lost her."
"I didn't understand you were trying to tell me something."

Wholesome and meaningful hurt comfort in those quotes!

It was a beautiful read filled with glitter and hope and I think that's what we all need right now. I can't wait to see what Bonnie brings us next! I will be waiting that's for sure.

I just finished my ARC of The Jingle Rebellion and find myself singing carols . . . in August! It’s the holiday season and spirit guide Pearly lands in the quaintest town this side of Dickens, where she’s been charged with helping a widowed high school principal find joy again. She signs on to be a custodian at the high school and works to mend the relationship between the principal and his daughter, a feisty seventeen-year-old theatre major, using equal parts meddling and mentoring. Readers new to Pearly and those familiar with her previous two books, will be glad to find her boyfriend, Thunder between the pages, and the sheets! I loved this book—it’s bursting with tinsel, and glitter and over-the-top shenanigans, but don’t be fooled, behind it all, there’s real heart. Pearly’s good intentions, while sometimes misguided, are always well-meaning. I was moved by the wonderful life lessons behind the glitz! You’d have to be a grinch not to love The Jingle Rebellion. Fans of the previous two Pearly books won’t be disappointed, and for those of you who are new to Pearly, this book stands on its own.

I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of this book- what a delight!!!! I was also lucky enough to read the first two Pearly Gates books and the Jingle Rebellion did not disappoint. Pearly has found her true self and her unorthodox methods to being a spirit guide reflects her unique ability to help in the trickiest of relationships.
There were a lot of parts about this book I loved but there are several that really stood out to me. I loved that Dumb Pearly/Taffy is growing as a soul. She's not just a copy of Pearly Gates- she's becoming her own being. I loved that we got Thunder's perspective (that's Pearly's soul mate). His insecurities and doubts make him feel human and more lovable than in the other books. I loved that Pearly has clearly grown as a soul; she has matured and is comfortable with herself.
Bonnie Solomon has a fantastic ability to create relatable characters, write excellent dialogue, and fill the pages with lovely scenes.
The weather where I live is just starting to turn (Fall is coming) but this book put the chill in the air and makes me excited for Christmas. May your Holidays be Glittery!!

This is a 5-star for me.

(I received an ARC of this one and was really grateful.)

I've read and loved the other Pearly books. In this one, I really liked the subplot about a canceled high school Christmas musical. We get to watch Pearly guide a shut-down, grieving dad while her own relationship with Thunder quietly falls apart. And then there are the unionized gingerbread people. Great!!

Genesis is my favorite character though. Spray paints "UNCANCEL CHRISTMAS" on her school, gets caught, and instead of just sitting with the punishment, she secretly writes and stages her own musical with her friends out of a janitor's closet.

Thunder's arc got me too, a guy whose whole identity is being needed by everyone, forced to sit still and figure out who he is without a crisis to fix.

Made me cry over a fictional community theater show about elves. 5 stars, no notes, read it in like two sittings.

The Jingle Rebellion feels like turning on a hallmark movie with a hot cup of coco but better, because it's a book –and you can read that bottled up holiday magic any time of year. As with all the Pearly stories, the characters are so original, authentic to themselves, and representing a rainbow of identities in a natural, feel good way. If our world could be as accepting as a Pearly book, it would be a happier, healthier place. And who doesn't love Christmas time! The small-town setting is a character in and of itself, in a warm, community-centric way that makes you want to go give your neighbor a fresh baked cookie and invite them in for a chat. I can't recommend this book enough, and the series as a whole for anyone that needs a little pick me up, or a reminder that there is good in the universe, and that she wears killer heels.
