Eight years ago, Riot never expected a sharp tongued nurse to steal his heart.
As Vice President of the Dead Knights MC, Riot has spent years putting the club first. But everything changed the day Maria crashed through every wall he'd built.
After surviving cheating and betrayal, heartbreak, and one brutal war, she's no longer just the woman he loves. She's his Old Lady, his family, and the future he'd do anything to protect.
Present day and they’ve fought hard for the life they've built together, but peace never lasts in the MC world.
As old enemies resurface, blood is spilled, and threatens everything the Dead Knights have fought for, Riot has one choice, protect the woman who has always been his greatest weakness at all costs.
Riot's Revenge is a dark, gritty MC romance featuring betrayal, cheating, found family, revenge, and a hero who'll burn the world down to protect his Old Lady.
Reese Black is a passionate follower of Jesus living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has a love for writing, music, photography, dance, and podcasts. He seeks to portray the beauty, the love, and the manifest presence of God through every median available to him. His mission is to connect people to the freedom of Christ.
Mc hero meets cute heroine and they start a relationship without having The Talk. She even moves in with him, but apparently having missed The Talk he doesn’t think they’re exclusive and is reluctant to commit. I think that when you have something with a MC it would be good to have The Talk, because who knows what they’re thinking. Ironically speaking, but not even that much. So one night she catches him having sex with a club girl and he’s like, well, what did you expect, we’re not exclusive. Give me a tequila now please. Make it double please. I need some liquid courage. She leaves him and then he’s regretful and remorseful and he doesn’t even know why he did what he did, self sabotage maybe? After groveling just a bit and promising that he will be forever celibate even if she never takes him back for life, not joking here folks, of course she takes him back. She even gets friendly and cozy with the woman he cheated on, a club girl, who was just doing her job and is sorry because she thought she was ok with it. Well, what can I say. There’s some shooting and killing and I didn’t actually cared about it, I cared that the loser heroine took him back. Of course she was celibate after separation because god forbid that in this time and age and all the talking about women rights and toxic patriarchy and yada yada these writers actually didn’t use double standard any longer. After all this talking about women is just that, talking. Useless and not important for writers to considers because boys will be boys and women have to be chaste and pure and forgive and forget. Yeah. Whatever. Just avoid, my safety friends.
Edit: So others who have read this said it was the only one time with Brandi, while I interpreted it he was with others. I confirmed with author so I changed my review accordingly.
3.5 stars. I really wanted to like this more. I really did. But I found myself disappointed in Riot. Having read about him and Maria from book one. We get an opening scene 10 years prior with him with a club girl named Brandi before he meets Maria. I knew the book had cheating in it. Just to what degree I wasn't sure. It's MC romance so it's bound to happen with these guys. Riot pursues Maria. Makes her feel like she's his woman. So the cheating hurt my feelings as well as Maria's. She catches him having sex with Brandi exactly the way he had sex with her. No difference. Same exact language. Heartbreaking. Not only that, but he was with Maria prior and left after her having given him a bj with backdoor fun for him. Which he was obviously uncomfortable with after the fact. Even though he enjoyed it Maria definitely should have asked permission. And no he wasn't gay or bi. But author never came back to that or had a discussion. Not the best. Back to Maria catching him in the act. He's basically like we weren't exclusive which is every guy's excuse. but we find out he's with Brandi once more after Maria leaves him, so he wasn't feeling that guilty. Though we know it wasn't the best sex because Brandi felt compelled to tell Maria that later. Then we have parts in the book with him trying to win her back with actions. Which I believed. And he does, but one thing bothered me. I didn't care for Brandi and didn't care to hear anymore about her, but author tried to get sympathy for her. Obviously she was a club girl and she knew Riot was seeing Maria, but she didn't care. She obviously was crushing on Riot and would take any opportunity to get into his bed, but he's still the bad guy in this scenario because he was supposed to be with Maria. Then we have Brandi taking a bullet for Maria and I rolled my eyes so hard. 🙄 I'm definitely in the camp of wanting to keep my FMCs seperate from club girls, club whores, sweet butts, or whatever author's like to call them in their books. Having to read Brandi's name even towards the end was irritating. But hey! That's just a me preference. So fast forward 10 years and we're in the present and Riot is acting sketchy. Not coming home. Smelling of perfume etc. Of course Maria suspects he's back to his old ways again. But he once again was just acting like a TDTL male by not informing her she was a target for a rival MC. So of course she gets hurt. Tensions are high. Bad guys are killed. Epilogue and room left to know we have another book coming. Overall it was ok. I was disappointed like I said in Riot, but I will continue to read this series. Now do I believe Riot was sorry and actually loved Maria? I do. I think he was in love, but wasn't comfortable with what was happening to him. You know. Feelings and stuff. 🤦🤷 If you're looking for a new MC author I'd say give this series a try. I recommend starting from book 1. Though it wasn't written as well as book 2 and 3.
Safety: cheating on page. But one detail I could have lived without was knowing how tight Brandi's 🐈 was because no we don't hear those same words from Riot about Maria. Yeah, could have done without that.

H has sex with a club girl because apparently he didn't know he was supposed to be faithful even though he's in a relationship with the h because they didn't have a talk about it....h leaves but takes him back and befriends the club girl. Just weak in the knees......
This story didn't work for me. Even in what should have been the big betrayal scene I barely felt any angst. There was no EMOTION. His reaction to her finding him cheating was such a letdown. I'm supposed to believe he loved her?! I bought the whole "he compartmentalized his personal life and club life" thing. I didn't buy the whole "I didn't think she'd be upset" thing. As if he didn't realize it would devastate her. That he gets frustrated with her when she finds him fucking someone else?! And THEN he just let her walk right out of his apartment - there was no PASSION. I kept turning pages expecting for some real emotion and it never happened.
The author can string a sentence together but the emotional arc felt completely unreconciled. The male lead had minimal emotional reaction to her leaving him, didn't think he did anything wrong and then we are just supposed to believe that he gets it now because...???
His grovel was weak and manufactured. I wanted EMOTION and PASSION and DEVASTATION but he felt entirely emotionally void and empty. None of it worked. Stalking her workplace and pouting is not grovel or redemption. Doing odd jobs for her? Not sleeping with other people? Okay thanks for giving us the bare minimum. And I HATE it when other people tell the female lead (including the OTHER WOMAN) that the male lead is SO sad and is not sleeping with other people so shouldn't she just take him back?
I really needed more from his inner monologue reflecting on why he cheated. I can't believe in a character's growth if we don't see it out play out in their mind. But any self reflection was overshadowed by his constant commiseration.
I ROLLED my eyes when he got down on his knees in the club - so contrived. Between him asking for a second chance and her giving it to him was a total of EIGHT days - way to make him sweat.
And how does the author address the issue of the other woman still hanging around? Why just kill her off of course! Have her die while protecting the female lead! Gimme a BREAK. The author had him cheat with a club girl but then had to find a way to get rid of the other woman after so her presence is exhumed from the club with a bullet. As if the other woman's life must be sacrificed to pave the way to reconciliation for the cheater, who gets away with feeling bad and a few sorries. It was such a cheap way to address the other woman issue, pure laziness, especially because her death is essentially never addressed again.
On the topic of Brandi, what the heck was up with having the other woman come into the clinic and having the FEMALE LEAD perform her pap smear? Walking in on her fucking the male lead wasn't enough? We couldn't have come up with any other reason to put them in a room together? Hell, if you have to make her go to the clinic give her a fucking chest cold. Instead, our female lead gets up close and personal with ground zero. Why are we putting our female leads through more than one humiliation ritual per book? Shouldn't there be a quota?
And then there is a 3 month time jump and suddenly everything is hunky dory and she trusts him "completely". Thanks for telling the reader that, but the story would have benefited from showing any of their actual reconciliation. I hate when everything is left off page and we are just supposed to buy that she trusts him now.
THEN we have another time jump of 10 years, which the pacing of the story really didn't support. There was a rush to reconciliation in the past and then we are suddenly supposed to believe in their 10 year long steady relationship? It felt weird to be tossed into the middle of a marriage in trouble plot with perceived cheating 75% into the story when his ACTUAL cheating in the past wasn't fully reconciled.
The blurb implies the majority of the story takes place in the present which is not the case. I just noticed that the blurb says it's been 8 years but the time jump was clearly 10 years per chapter 38...
I just didn't enjoy this story. It's a lot of pretty words and turns of phrases without any substance. (I blame Grey's Anatomy for the constant use of "you don't get to xyz... " - can we PLEASE start using something else) I honestly don't know why I expected more - I keep reading these mc stories expecting authentic stories with real emotions and am more often than not left disappointed. Unfortunately this was not an exception.

I liked the 10 years ago part but was bored when it jumped to present for the quarter of the book.
Riot gets the hots for nurse Marie after she treats his bros at the clinic she’s working at as a student nurse. He semi stalks her and seems way more invested than he owns to. They both say they are just a hook up . When riot move Marie into his apartment after her apartment is bought things change. They are acting like a committed couple. There are a few statements made by Riot that lead you to believe he’s still doing club girls. We know at least he did Brand because Marie walks in on them doing the dirty a few hours after she gave him a bj with a prostate check. There’s a mystery here , does Riot like her checking his prostrate or not. I guess we will never know… I think the angst was mellowed because OW Brandi was too nice … so nice that she takes a bullet and dies to save the fmc. That would have been great irl but this is the cheaters club an I want my bitchy pain in the all ow drama!

This was a fast paced read but it lacked the emotional impact I was hoping for. I really wanted this to eviscerate me. However, despite the decent length, it felt very surface level with the depth of character development and motivations. Not a terrible read by any means; just not quite the immersive experience I was expecting.
This book was ok. I liked the premise of the book. The writing has improved from the first book, however the follow through on certain parts of the story felt incomplete and not followed through. Why mention something as a catalyst for a major part of the conflict, but forget it and never mention in it again? Things that are supposed to have an impact, don’t because they were never mentioned before, or they were and just dropped. Example is, when he leaves the house, right after being intimate with Maria, because he is confused, and conflicted by something Maria did to him, sexually, that has him questioning things about himself, and go to the clubhouse, and be so conflicted, that he cheats on Maria, only to never mention it again. And when she called him Ricky, instead of his road name, I don’t think it was ever mentioned that was his name or that he told her that information. There were also a lot of questions that the reader would naturally have that weren’t asked and answered. Situations were very murky. Was this the only time? After Maria left him, did he continue on with sleeping around? Was he sleeping with others the whole time? Did Maria get tested? She was a nurse, so wouldn’t that be on her mind. Also, we are introduced to Maria as a nurse, so what was she studying for? What were the exams for? I had no clear idea of why Maria was being targeted in the last bit of the book. All of these things, and more, left me scratching my head, like I missed something.
It’s such a shame as the author really knows how to make the words flow across the page, it’s well balanced and so readable. BUT there were a few plot issues. - the reason for riot running off was never touched on again. - The timeline felt weird. - It was confusing and never clarified if Riot was sleeping with others the whole time they were together, or if it was a one time thing. - Brandi’s dialogue when she visited the clinic was confusing. I would’ve expected Maria to have wanted some answers to what Brandi said. - Some of the story and feelings felt restrained in a way that the author forgot convey what was in her head….it just didn’t land on the page. Some words were written that did convey feelings, but I didn’t feel that it reached out the pages to me. - There were too many threads and thoughts that weren’t addressed or discussed, which made the story feel unfinished.
It’s a shame as the author is a talented writer. I just feel that more effort needed to be made in connecting the whole story together. It felt as though the author had ideas that she wrote down and then added into the story, which affected the overall narrative, which like I said made parts feel unfinished.
Cheating = H and h have been together for quite a while and are living together. h goes to clubhouse for another task and ends up walking in on the H screwing OW. Why did he cheat? Because he and the h were not official, because H compartmentalized his life and it is okay to screw OW at clubhouse then go home to h without a thought of it being wrong, because he could, etc.
h sees H with OW = see above
Grovel = H tries therapy, but is not a fan of someone holding a mirror up to his ugliness/behavior so stops. He becomes a stalker of the h. Eventually, they get back together because something happens with the MC and people are hurt including the H. So "grovel" worked??!!
MC = throughout the book, the MC is battling with a rival MC which pushes/pulls the H and h.
This book kept me interested but it was missing the emotional impact and detail I was looking for. I didn't think there was nearly enough conversation about the big betrayal and definitely didn't feel like the grovel was enough for what he did. I also would have liked some discussion about the FMC getting tested knowing Riot cheated on her. I wouldn't trust he wasn't sleeping with more than just Brandi. Also, the whole "backdoor" scene felt tossed in there and not properly discussed. Overall, it was an okay quick read but didn't make me want to read more about this world.
Also spoiler below but a question for those that read this... . . . . . . . Does Ghost die in a previous book? His name is mentioned in the last chapter of people that passed, but he didn't die in this book so what am I missing?
Really disappointing read. Some timeline issues, a few contradicting statements but at the heart of the problem is Riot. He didn’t deserve Maria. They were going unprotected while he was still with club girls. What is wrong with women thinking they should accept a man who has no respect for them and no care for their health? A cheater is a cheater. Period. I wish author would go back to the drawing board on this one
I wish the author trusted her instincts and followed the breadcrumbs she dropped before the betrayal.
It would’ve made more sense as to why Riot felt the need to follow Brandi into the back room, especially since he had literally just left Maria before it.
Men are stupid. Especially Alpha men who don’t understand their own feelings and decide to self-destruct instead of talking about them.
I really liked Maria. She was tough when she needed to be and cared about helping people. Riot was definitely in the wrong, but if you think about it, he grew up in a culture that embraced cheating and he acted accordingly. Does that absolve him? Absolutely not, but it does make sense. I don't think there was a grovel here, but Riot did change. It took him longer than it should have to understand why what he did was wrong, but once it clicked, he stuck with doing better.
Not a bad story. I didn't read the ones before and maybe I should have because the end was a little confusing. Also seemed to be some timeline issues where it was difficult to tell how much time had passed.
