I hear Danny. “Cloud, Steve has the guy.”
Cloud looks away from me. “Feed him his fu*&kin drugs and let Steve at him. I want him to feel what it’s like to be violated when he has no way to move. Tell him he can f^*kin blink for his answers.”
Someone is laughing. Cloud looks at me. “Is that a good enough punishment for him CJ?” I blink twice. The f*^kin jerk should experience this. “CJ agrees.”
“We’ll take care of it CJ.” Danny says. I blink twice.
“She says yes.” Cloud tells him still looking at me.
“Cloud, Beau is here with Art. Art will get the chopper home. We’ll hitch a ride with Beau. Don’t leave your girl. It must f&*kin scary to understand but not be able to move.”
“Thanks Kevin. I wasn't letting her go.” He says still watching my eyes. “Thank you Jamie.”
“Take tomorrow Cloud. Get your girl straight.” Jamie says to him. Cloud thanks them again but doesn't ever take his eyes off me.
There’s silence until the helicopter sounds again. “I’m so fuckin glad Rich called. We were almost home. I would have been too late if I drove it.” He bends and kisses my forehead.
“I’ll set the alarm as I go out Cloud. Christian may sneak down to see if CJ is ok. He doesn't understand what’s going on. She got herself to the camera Cloud, she did good. I’ll check in tomorrow morning. Sally will get the older kids to school. I’ll come by and get the younger kids.”
“Thanks Brother.” Cloud’s voice sounds funny. I hear the door close and his motorcycle start up and fade away. “I’m so relieved they all left. I just want to hold you. I want your first memory in this bed to be of me holding you while you sleep. Nothing good or bad, just content, does that sound good?” My vision blurs but I blink twice. Anything is better than that dick head’s naked body close to mine.
“Steve told me he went on one date with Jess and never left her house. He sold his and made hers bigger. Rich and Patches brought Tess home and she never left. Jamie brought Mitch to his house and she never left. I want to be right here with you CJ. I’m not leaving. I don’t ever want to be so scared again. I was sweating by the time I landed the chopper. I know I sound like a pus…wimp but I don’t ever want to be that scared again. I need to know your safe, all the time every day. I’m staying CJ.” Holy Shit! I blink twice. He pulls me into his chest. “I’m so f&*kin glad I didn't marry Mia and stayed away from anything like a relationship all this time. It left the door open for you. You almost literally fell in my lap.” His voice is soft and muffled; I can still hear him though. I don’t think he realizes it. He loosens his arms and looks at me. “I’m not letting you go without a fight CJ. It will be a hell of a fight, I’m a warrior.” He smiles at me. I blink twice for him. How perfect is that, he fell in my lap too. Well, really he threw me over his shoulder but that’s close enough for me. “Thank you.”

L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference.
The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly.
That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal.
L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers.
With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud.
Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet

Starting to get a bit confusing with the amount of people in these books. Still enjoyable though.

Pretty much a DNF mostly skimmed after a few chapters, thought it was part of the MC series but other than them being there not much to do with the actual MC. It was all over the place again with characters/kids coming out of the woodwork and way too far fetched for me. Just not my cuppa, too bad I would have enjoyed a story about Cloud but from what I skimmed there really wasn't much story about him and way too much friggin' CJ.....

'Blackhawk' (MC Series Book 5) by L Ann Marie is a great read. This is an excellent addition to this series. I loved getting to know Cloud, CJ, Christian, Joey, Brantley, Taylor, Jeremy, and Jacob. I enjoyed catching up with all the other entertaining characters from the MC and Baxters. This story is packed full of action, drama, passion, hot former military guys, strong women, amazing kids, close families and friends, and supporting those that need it. I can't wait to read more in this series and from this author. Highly recommend to all fans of MC romance.

Wow is all I can say to this one. Get out the hankies as this is a tearjerker in spots. I love CJ and clouds story as it incorporated so many facets of life such as Native Americans and paranormal abilities of the kids. I laughed out loud at some of the antics of the kids, and I hope other readers will as well!

I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated

I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).

I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)

My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.

The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.

Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale

Great Story

I loved the subtle paranormal theme in the series. In the last book, Rich, Tess and Patches story, it became the story's focus. . Cloud and CJ's story continues the theme, bring Native American mystical and spiritual practices into the mix.
CJ is a foster mother caring for six special needs kids in the MCs yard. She meets her MC neighbor's when they run an ops right through her house. She is drawn to Cloud as are her kids. He is moving in within in a few days. Like Tess one of CJs boys is a seer and someone is after him. It's no long before her other kids and the MCs little brothers and sisters are showing special abilities. The seers, warrior's and protectors.
Cloud his family and tribe use their ties to their ancestors to guide and protect his new family.
The little brothers are growing. Little Ben is their leader, Darren their protector and Jessie their heart and soul. Something seems to be coming pulling these kids together.
Loved Cloud and CJ. I loved Cloud in the Baxter books so was happy that he found a women worthy of him. Fun and steamy story. Though it gets gets a little lost in all the is going on with the kids. As always loved the Baxter's lending their support. A nice nod to the Navajo Code Talkers, using Cloud's tribe to run Ops. Looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Re-read the entire MC and Protectors series between June and August. I love her storytelling and characters but sometimes the prose (and particularly the conversations) is a little dense and hard to get through. But I'm back again because the guys, the gals, the kids are all SO GREAT! If you bought this a while ago and are just reading it, download a new copy from Amazon because I think a lot of them have been updated on the editing front. This book brings both the fostering and the Native American angles to prominence. Love the kids. Had to definitely check out the genealogy charts the author has on her website to keep myself straight on all the kids and characters.

Enjoy this MC series (and this one with Cloud is both the MC and the Baxters). Lots of (foster)kids, lots of sex, lots of danger. The writing is different than with most other biker books, but the editing is getting better with each book. (Sometimes it does get confusing with all the names/characters, so this probably isn't a good stand-alone book - start from the beginning and you probably won't get as lost as starting with this book on its own).

Thanks for reading!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!! I think this is my favourite book in the series so far!! It combined all my interests into a story that was a joy to read. My Native heritage and the spiritual plane that only so many believe in; Crystal and Indigo children run in my family; not to mention the thrill of an action movie playing out in the pages of a book; and sexy badass bikers... Makes for one amazing book!! I would love to read more on the Fosters, maybe learning more of Steve's heritage?!

Altho this story is more centred around Cloud C J and the children it's still has a huge Mc involvement with it. It's one of those books that steals your heart and you fall in love with all the characters. It's truly amazing. This author has an unique style about her and I can say I cannot wait for every book she writes. Each book has so much detail and thought in it I'm truly amazed every time.

A good one

Another good book as expecting from one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed the Indian lore attached to the romance and mystical children capabilities. Really a great way to spend an afternoon.

Cloud Blackhawk - raised by his grandparents on the reservation, finds his cousin (Steve Knight) in the MC, maternal cousin to Steve the VP,

CJ Lescault- raised in foster care, grew up and became a foster parent, her husband runs away with their kids caseworker,

CJ's Foster Kids - comments by Cloud
Jacob is 6
Jeremy is 6 - seems fragile due to what his mother did to him
Christian is 11 - sees everything
Brantley and Taylor are 12
Joey is 13 and in a wheelchair

Danny LaPonte - Building Supervisor for the MC

Rob - MC member, has a "friends with benefits" going on with Rena

Rena "Re" - works at the hotel, has a "friends with benefits" going on with Rob

Aleena - Cloud's sister who was in an abusive relationship with her husband

----------
Something is going on at CJ's. A helicopter has landed, her laundry that was drying outside is all over the place (due to the helio's rotary blades, Joey's wheelchair is turned over, boys are screaming inside the house and MC "giants" (as CJ calls the MC members) are all over the place. This is when CJ meets Cloud, who apologizing for the mess his helio has made.

Once things settle down Danny tells her to get the kids packed up for a few days, they can stay at the hotel and he and a crew will fix the damage done to her house. She then finds out that Baxters and the MC were tracking down a convicted rapist who had escaped from the State Pen and decided to "hole up in a house full of kids."

CJ and the kids are now under MC protection. While she and the kids are at the hotel all of their needs are covered. Rob explains why this is happening. She also finds out that Danny the Biker Building Super is "LaPonte Builders" and knows his work. Rob tells her that the crew working at her house will probably make the house look better than just fixing what they broke.

CJ invites Cloud on an outing to the park with the kids. He realizes he is more "into" her than he was with a girl he almost married. They talk and both admit they want to get to know each other better.

-------

There were times in this book I got confused as to who was who and whose kids belonged to whom . . . but, then again, in this series all of the MC children are being raised by the MC village so all is good.

Arrggghhh!!!! Sadly, I have to give this one only 3 stars. I liked the story line, the characters, etc. but the way it was written drove me absolutely batty. It has never taken me so long to finish a book (12 days) unheard of!!!! Run on sentences making it hard to decipher. Too much going on at the same time. Not written in novel style but more like bullet points (without the bullet points). Whomever is proofreading/editing for the author is not doing a good job (sorry but have to be honest). Hopefully the next one is written in a better style. The previous 4 were much better so not sure what the hell happened with the one. I did love all the Indian heritage introduced in this book. What's happening with all the kids is kind of whacky (only because it was introduced all at once with so many kids involved). We knew about Tess and we had a inkling about Little Ben and Jessie. Rob turned out to be a real disappointment. Will have to read The Baxter's series for sure.

OMG. What a Ride.

I love MC books and decided to give it a try. This book is way ahead of the game when it comes to MC books. The fact that they are regular badasses is a given, but the extra icing are the kids and the powers. I dont know if I love the series because the men are romantic, deadly, badasses, or because the kids mixed wi tnn the men make great heartwarming stories, or the strong women who hold them all together. All I can say is I LOVE this author, and so far I can't stop reading. GREAT JOB L. Ann Marie. Dont change anything about your writing. Going to finish the series and start over.

It's all over the place but in a good way.

This book is on the go, full throttle from the beginning. The storyline still holds fast to the main story that is running throughout the series but has its own mini saga of Cloud and CJ's story and, of course, their kids. It's like riding an extreme rollercoaster and has you hanging on as it takes all its twists and turns. All the characters are dynamic and strong but very appealing. Each one has something different to add, creating a full and dramatic book.
