Great start, characters I am interested in, amused by and intrigued by…. And that’s only 10% in!
I am enjoying everything so far although there is a little bit of me not quite on board with the speed of the friendship but most of me is on board with the writer's explanation of ...... she didn't know her before so isn't looking through the loss lens..... I almost buy it!
I can't quiet the thought in my head that one main is the head of school and the other a teacher in that school but it is not being raised as a barrier. Also the ex wife appears to have been one mains head of department. I do not know if either is an issue in school but I don't see how it couldn't be?
The school its-self has a walk on part, no real pupil interaction which is quite unusual in most school setting books. The setting just didn’t really zing. Not a criticism, more an observation. There is plenty of mains on the same page interaction and pacing hasn't faltered. I found myself quite tense in the scenes with the ex, no dangled reconciliation, and I am delighted to say no silly misunderstanding plot devices. A solid 3.5…… which I am rounding up because pacing was good, the hot scenes were hot and the mains did have plenty interaction….. not an euphemism….. well not just…..

Top Tier Melissa Book
Eloise has captured my heart and has moved easily into my top 5 favorite Melissa books. I just don’t know who to kick from the top. If you’re looking for what I would consider a low angst (in my opinion) cute romance then this is for you.
Alba Clifford is moving on in her life. New town and new school to teach in. A fresh start is exactly what she needs. Ellie Hamilton is trying to make it through the start of a new school year. Everyone in school knows and understands the headteacher’s grief. Perhaps a little heavy handed on the comfort though. Right before the start of the school year, Ellie and Alba slowly become friends. A few chats to check in turn to dinner nights and shared lunches. But Ellie is straight and the worst thing you could do is have a crush on your straight boss. As the book progresses, their chemistry and attraction start to merge. But can both Ellie and Alba find ways to reconcile with their past to form a new start?
I don’t think there’s enough words to describe how much I love Ellie. For everything she has been through in the last 18 months, she still is the sweetest and kindest woman. Besides Ellie, what I really loved about this book was the build up between Ellie and Alba. The dynamic of their friendship to the subtle shift to more felt natural and really well paced. Very much so a slow burn. Melissa really had me with the spa trip 🙄.
I say this all the time to anyone who will listen. But Melissa truly does write some amazing books. Sure some of them are heavier on the spice (The Full Service, I’m look at you) or the angst. But don’t let the very attractive lady on the cover fool you. All of her books have so much heart and humor in them. She has legitimately written some of my favorite books. Plus, I’m always a sucker for an age gap 😉
Anyway, go read Eloise! I devoured it within four hours. I promise you’ll fall in love with Ellie, Alba, and Colin. And possibly want to throttle a character or two but it wouldn’t be a Melissa book if there wasn’t. Plus, we get to see a familiar face!

Ahhh, that's more like it.
The tension, heartbreak, the explosive chemistry between characters was phenomenal. Melissa Tereze is an author you can count onto deliver a well rounded, gut clenching, deep, flawed and full bodied chartacters. The dogs were a huge bonus. I have been in a few reading slumps this year, her books do a great job pulling me out of one.
Seeing Vanessa and Emma was definitely a bonus.
I have no doubt that this book will be enjoyed. Melissa Tereze is an author I follow and will continue to.

Wow!
Melissa has totally put me through an emotional rollercoaster! Eloise is such a beautifully written book telling the story of a mothers loss of her daughter (Eloise)
Ellie (Eloise’s mother) and Alba’s journey navigating how to love and be loved, how to heal from grief, how to open their hearts and let love in without guilt. This story deals with the emotions of losing a child, past relationships that won’t leave Alba alone. The way the author has put this story together is just breathtaking, I personally felt so many emotions reading this from tears to laughter!

a vengeful ex, nosey teachers..
Loved this book. Lot of tension, a vengeful ex wife, nosey teachers who just don’t seem to stop interfering. Plus Ellie dealing with the loss of her daughter. There are sad sections in the book but think the overall theme is finding reasons to keep moving forward.
The book was very well done like all of Melissa’s stories. One you just didn’t want to put down or finish. Quite a conflict.

Eloise Hamilton (Ellie) is the headmistress of Park Haven High School. New school year, more whispered conversations about her, same internal quiet numbness for eighteen months. Her work being her only constant. Keeping her head up, her cool demeanor and control in place for another day,week, year.
Alba Clifford is the new Geography teacher, who has the world on her shoulder due to her ex-wife. Leaving her previous school as her ex destroys her reputation, taking the new job, new school, new home and hopefully her new life.
As these two woman come across each other the first day, Ellie sees that Alba is shaking and upset. Alba is trying to control herself in front of her new boss but the message her ex just text her has rattled all her self defense, not how she wanted to start her new job. Ellie learns some of what is bothering Alba and offers her a night out with her colleagues. After hesitating, she agrees and finds out they live close to each other. The evening brings these two women together in a way that was never possible before. Friendship, support and humanity. What develops between them is a positive lift of each other as they learn of each other’s vulnerability with the past until it comes back in the worst way. Melissa has again written a book that deals with emotions so deep that it takes a special person to help you out and find the strength to live your life. This was such a great read. I couldn’t put it down.

I read this one so quickly. It was hard to put down. I love when two MCs meet each other quickly and this was done so beautifully. I love both characters Alba and Ellie so much. It was a bit repetitive during the pining for me, but I do understand that choice. The themes of grief and loss and healing are so well done. The spice was so good. Ellie is such a strong woman and Alba is so supportive. I love them. They make so much sense to me. I want more from them.

Ugh I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. Ellie may be in my top 5 characters that Melissa has done. I will say Audrey was just pissing me off the whole damn time! Like let Alba be. But over all I just love the overall relationship of Ellie and Alba, I love the slow start to it, and how it just builds during the book. They definitely deserve a happy ever after. I will say Ellie is my kind of woman, and I would not ever let her go. This story was a great one , thanks Melissa for another amazing read. Can’t wait for the next one :)

Another deep and endearingly romantic love story from Tereze. It’s got the perfect components all in sync, no spoilers, but if you like Tereze- dive in! This one especially hits deep, be prepared. It’s very well done and genuinely sweet.

You can't go wrong with a Melissa Tereze books! Ellie is the head mistress of her secondary school, she's slowly recovering from the devastating loss of her daughter Eloise (named after Ellie) who suddenly passed away from a brain aneurysm 18 months ago. She meets Alba, on school grounds a couple of days before the school year starts. Alba, is the new geography teacher, and is coming out of a bad marriage. Her ex Audrey is harassing her.
Both women need a friend and they find each other. Their relationship starts to grow, but slowly, really slowly! But they've laid down a great foundation of trust and love.
A beautiful slow burn, age gap love story, with just enough spice. We also see Vanessa and Emma in there too! A FAVORITE! 5 stars!!

Melissa Tereze does it again. This book was fantastic! I adore Ellie and Alba. The journey through grief and finding happiness through the dark days and finding your person 🥰 it was great getting to see Vanessa and Emma from the Mrs Middleton series. Love those ladies. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the not so great characters being put in their place! Easy 5 stars! Also, Colin and Ralph are the best doggos 💜

Another great book by Melissa Tereze!
Great storyline, slow hot build between the characters. The characters are totally believable and very likeable. The story is told from both their point of view so the reader is totally aware of how they both feel. I hate it when you only get one side of the story. Highly recommend.

I'm really confused. I already read this book a while ago. Is this a new edition? Same plot, same first and last names for the characters. Déjà vu? Plagiarism? Would someone be so kind as to explain this to me? Thank you

I rarely love a book. To the point where I can't wait to get back to it. The characters, though flawed, want desperately to find love, acceptance and a new normal. Tereza deals with a sensitive subject with honesty and sensitivity.

Another must read from melissa, I don't think she has written a bad book yet. This is a slow burn with likeable characters, well except for maybe Susan and audrey, and a good story line that keeps you interested. Well worth your time.
