I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.

When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"

If you have ever read a book from from Rochelle Paige, there are two elements that you can most definitely expect to find. One of course is that her all books always has a sexy alpha male hero and she never fails to deliver a hot sexy steamy romance. And in her newest release, Identity Crisis, Ms. Paige was able to integrate those two elements but was also able to add the element of suspense.

#IdentityCrisis_RochellePaige

In the case of mistaken identity, murder, suspense and ex-Navy SEALs heroes, you definitely got one HOT entertaining storyline that will have you hooked from the first pages to the very last. Identity Crisis is one of those reads that must be read and experienced since there are plenty of action packed drama and one hot unexpected steamy romance that will have you swooning for one ex-Navy SEAL hero.

#IdentityCrisis_1

I really don't want to spoil or give anything away since this story is about unraveling a crime and finding a dangerous organization that murdered the hero's childhood friend and the connection of his friend to the heroine. Like I said, this book is about unraveling so readers need to prepare themselves for one hot sexy protective alpha hero who takes his job seriously when it comes to protecting his woman. So if you are in a mood for one suspenseful romance that is filled with action and steam, then I would recommend you to read Identity Crisis because Ms. Paige sure knows how to heat up those e-readers when it comes to her leading man, Blaine.

4 Sexy Alpha Seal Stars!!

Blaine West is an ex-Navy SEAL working as a head of security for a wealthy Las Vegas Casino owner, when he receives an urgent message from his childhood friend and first love who’s obviously terrified and asking for help to hideout. Blaine arranges for her to find safe shelter until he can arrive. Once he arrives at the agreed upon meeting place, a local hotel, she doesn’t show but he soon learns a local author was murdered that morning at the same hotel. An author who bears an uncanny resemblance to his friend.

 photo PicsArt_1483762140721_zpszu8k58lw.jpg

Delia Sinclair is a reclusive romance novelist who’s on a deadline and decides to go to a secluded cabin to get away from all distractions, basically hiding out in the mountains to finish her latest book. Delia spends more time in her head and books than she does in real life and she’s definitely lonely. Upon completion of her book she returns home to find (a very sexy) stranger searching her home. After hearing his explanation, she learns she was supposedly "murdered", and the man searching her house is the actual victim’s childhood friend who happens to look remarkably like Delia.

"My jaw almost dropped open as I got my first look at him. If I had to conjure up an image of an intruder, he was the last thing I would come up on my own... He had tall, dark, and dangerous down to a tee. When I looked into his eyes, they seemed to be filled with an honesty and determination that didn't make any sense".

Blaine persuades Delia not to go to the police, and aid him to figure out exactly what happened to his friend. Soon sparks start to ignite between the two of them. The more time Blaine spends with Delia, he decides Delia is his and will protect her at all cost, even with his life if necessary.

"Nestled in his arms, I tilted my head to look into his eyes. 'You’ve barely gotten any sleep either. What keeps you going?' 'You do."

All-in-all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next books in the series. If you love bossy dirty talking sexy alpha’s you too will thoroughly enjoy this book!!

Please pass the cheese.

The only reason I finished this book was so I could give it the one-star rating it deserved, no thanks to the indiscriminate reviewers who think this poorly constructed, cheesy, crass and unoriginal book constitutes a quality romantic suspense novel. I'm a little angry and saddened by the 100% of Amazon reviewers who gave this book four or five stars. The dialogue was pure corn pone and so, so cliched. The characters and plot were poorly structured. Info-dumps indicated a distinct lack of finesse to the storytelling. The delivery was choppy and the first-person narration voice-overs kept pulling me out of the story. There was a lot of telling, and telling again, rather than showing. The insta-love was unbelievable, and the love scenes were alpha-spoof-worthy. I had a little identity crisis myself because I had to keep looking back to see if I was in Blaine's or Delia's head. A reclusive romance author and a retired Navy SEAL should not sound alike in their minds, which was universally uncouth. All of the suspense led up to a big action scene at the end that covered a whopping five pages. I think the titty f**k lasted longer. Oh, I'm sorry, was that crass?

Here are some quotes from this stellar, "five-star" romance:

"Damn, but this guy was potent. He’d just broken into my house and subdued me like it was nothing, yet here I was, checking him out and wondering about the size of his d**k."

"Her life as she had known it this morning had been shot to hell. She was in an unknown place, trusting her life to me—a man she had met hours ago when I’d manhandled her after breaking into her home. Yet, here she was, more concerned about my comfort than her own."

"...the surge of desire I felt at seeing his bare chest was so strong, it almost brought me to my knees."

“'I’ve never felt anything like this before.' I’d been on missions involving women, but I’d never been tempted to cross the line with any of them. With Delia, it was like the line had been obliterated."

"Nestled in his arms, I tilted my head to look into his eyes. 'You’ve barely gotten any sleep either. What keeps you going?' 'You do.'"

"He’d point blank told me I was his woman, which had to mean he was my man. He was doing everything he could to keep me protected and I felt an urgent need to give back to him in the only way I could." [She then proceeds to mount him, and I think I threw up a little in my mouth at that point.]

"He was so far removed from the steely operator I knew him to be. He more closely resembled a wild animal—one intent on claiming its mate."

"I ran over to him and threw myself into his arms. 'Don’t ever apologize for giving me the most amazing orgasms of my life. I would gladly sacrifice sleep for a repeat of everything we did in that bed last night.'”

"Right now, you need to get a move on so you’ll be ready when they get here. I’d hate to have to shoot an FBI agent for seeing you half-dressed.”

“'You’ll take what I give you,' he growled, one hand reaching out to grip my hands and place them above my head. [When Blaine is pissed off, he suddenly becomes a Dom in the bedroom?]

The epilogue was equally as cheesy but one part had a sweet graciousness about it. See, I can say at least one positive thing.

Personal Overview
It was an interesting read. A case of mistaken identity that turns the book in to a Romantic Suspense. The H, Blaine, fits the alpha military type to the T, and h, Delia the romance writer it was like having one of her books and heroes come to life. After reading some reviews I was a bit scared about the reference to the Ex, Serena, but for me it was never a problem. Yes he mentions at some point he had feelings since she was is girl next door, his first lover and the only girlfriend in the true sense, so he cares (not love) for her. He says that when they met before he left for training he was hoping to hook up with her (not have a relationship) but that she was a different woman than the one when they were young.

”I’d been looking for a piece of home to hold onto while I was overseas and it didn’t take long to realize Serena wasn’t it.”

So I didn’t feel he had feeling for her except a normal care for someone from your past and that was still related to his life (their mothers were friends and neighbors). And he because of his sense of duty and rightfulness (I loved his nickname “Saint” because he always follow rules and does the right thing).

”Serena was part of my past, but she was still part of my team. Our connection hadn’t ended just because our relationship had and we had lost touch.”

That’s why it didn’t bother me that Serena was a constant presence in the book. It revolves on the investigation of the events and reason surrounding her disappearance, where the physical resemblance between Serena and Delia created the plot for the story. I also didn’t feel that the fact that they could pass as sisters was the reason that the H was attracted to h since when they met they immediately felt the attraction to one another, point being that the mentions what type of women he is attracted in the beginning of the book, when a blond flirts with him, he mentions he was always more attracted by curvy brunettes. He loved Delia’s balance between sweet and sassy.
Like I said it was a enjoyable read, I loved Brody, and I’m looking forward to his book. Damian’s appearance is this book was very short but he shows potential to be a good MC too.

“I blamed it on reading so many romance novels growing up. I wanted a man my body craved, someone who made my heart beat faster with just one look, a look that said I was the only woman in the world. Fidelity, passion, and love...was I really asking for too much?”(Delia)

**arc received from author in exchange for Hard Apple Cider with fireball and a drunken review from us book lushes at http://www.facebook.com/twounrulygirls **.

Being a fan of Ms. Paige is easy...she writes in a way that connects you to both the male and female leads quickly and permanently. You are enveloped in whatever tale she is spinning from the first word until the last. Of course this one starts off with a bang..several and a dead body. Love these stories!

Blaine was summoned home by a blast from his past, never one to not help a friend in need he hits the airways to protect his childhood friend. Delia is an author, a booknerd with a heart of gold but not the outgoing sort at all (totally love her) She is thrust into a crime she never knew took place, and into the arms of a man from her romance books. Two people from different worlds..led to each other because of scary bad guys..fate? I think so!

Blaine and Delia have an instant connection, which can happen when you are going 60 miles an hour from the very beginning, your relationship has a way of moving in fast forward. Both of them are eager to solve the crime before them and hopefully live long enough to have the future they both see in each other. Really enjoyed it and always waiting for what's next from this author!

A true criminal mystery with a lot of sexy.. ;)

So. Have you ever thought or even daydreamed about being that lucky girl in your favourite book where she wins the lottery when it comes to the guy? Once or twice the most?... Liars!

Well, be careful what you wish for..

That was the simple misfortune mixed with a dream come true for Delia.

Every girls dream is to be swept into the arms of a man like any one of her favourite stories. Leaving the boring or uneventful life behind, and having a sexy stranger become their future everything.. And if you're like me, reading so many New Adult/Romance books with endless amounts of drool worthy, sexy, strong alpha males can only lead to a *frowning* mindset when we fall back into reality. As the saying goes men in books do it better - EVERY FUCKING TIME! Excuse my French but wouldn't you agree?! Here we are reading/writing out dream stories and all we are asking is for reality to be a little kinder when it comes to those creatures called men ;)

With Identity Crisis you definitely see how the above wish can both be a gift and a curse...

For Delia, she never thought that her unrealistic but hopeful dream of meeting the main characters that she writes in her own books, will come with anything but an easy going life.. Not. At. All.

My jaw almost dropped open as I got my first look at him. If I had to conjure up an image of an intruder, he was the last thing I would come up on my own... He had tall, dark, and dangerous down to a tee. When I looked into his eyes, they seemed to be filled with an honesty and determination that didn't make any sense.

Make a wish and it might just come true.. Good Luck.. When you wake up one morning to what you think will be just another boring, normal day of having your dream at a mere pen-to-paper, but then it's anything but that!

Stolen identity

Possible conspiracy theory

Murder

and don't forget the main, an incredibly hot ex-navy SEAL!!

I think the navy SEAL part had me.. or you know, the murder aspect too but let's get back to the important part. Navy. F. SEAL. Need I say more? Well, I will so... Keep up haha ;)

Blaine, a fictional character were even the name speaks more volumes than anything really. So having an extremely good looking guy break into your house, saying that you're in danger, and that you should trust him (did I mention his an ex Navy SEAL? Trust basically comes along with that right?) to keep you out of harms way because someone stole your identity and the person who was pretending to be is now dead?! It's like your favourite book being played right in front of your eyes.

"I wouldn't wait too long if I were you," Brody warned. "A woman like that? Some man is bound to come along and sweep her off her feet if you don't pull your head out of your ass and do it first."

MINE

I was stratled by the thought as it rolled through my head, I'd been attracted to her since the first moment I'd laid eyes on her... There wasn't a chance in hell I wanted to ever see desire in Delia's eyes when she looked at him. I wanted it for myself, even though I felt like an asshole for feeling like this.

I think the one part that I loved about Blaine's character, aside from the immediate attraction of his protectiveness towards Delia, was around the idea that he actually & genuinely CARED. It wasn't like one of those characters were he has that cavemen part of him drive his instincts. No. I mean, he wasn't a boy by any means. All man! Yup. Definitely, all man.

But back to the point. He knew that he cared about Delia from the moment that he realised she would be someone permanent in his life. That's nothing new in a romance story.

BUT. What was different here is the fact that Blaire trusted Delia's own point of view when it came to figuring out where to go with the case.

Yes he was a hell of a lot worried about her safety.

Yes he didn't want to put her in any sort of danger.

And yes, they fought about what he wanted her to do versus what was best for all three of them surviving (the third person being Blaine's best friend - Brody - who I also loved. He added that humour element that I couldn't help but always stupidly grin at).

BUT the bottom line was, even though he was an ex-Navy SEAL and knew every possible way to go about a case like this, he still showed how much he cared, trusted, respected & valued Delia's ideas.

I haven't seen that aspect in many previous books which is one element that made this book addictive + lovable!

Fun

Addictive!!

Mysterious

Easy to read

Understanding

Sweet but sexy

Fate

Intense but adorable

Balanced

Truthful

This story really did have a great balance when it came to making the reader believe what was happing. I mean, Rochelle Paige so easily and enviably made a transition between capturing the serious side of a mystery-murder with that of the lighter notes of Delia & Blaine's relationship for instance. She inserted humour at all the right places. That made the story so much more interesting than it already was.

There was only one small bit that made me rate it 4.5 even though I am still thinking whether it does justice to how well this story was done.

I didn't really like how much detail went into explaining every part of the case. The information behind what they had to do, who they had to contact and what they needed to do in order to make the plan work, wasn't really something I loved reading. But then again, I knew that it was an essential part of the story so it wasn't so bad. It's just seemed to slow down parts of the story, but again, it was only a slight personal dilemma.

Overall? I would read this story again, in fact, don't be surprised if you see it on my reading list sometime soon.

I adored how the author made the main female character strong minded but not in the sense that she knew everything, wanting to take offer and always argue about her opinion etc. No. It was a different sort of mentality that showed off being smart, interesting, vulnerable enough but not helpless and an overall woman who just wanted to have a caring, possessive, sexy and equality strong minded but fair boyfriend.

Blaine & Delia were a perfect match.

They had their dark and sad backgrounds, which often made me tear up especially listening to Blaine and Brody's tragic encounters..

Anybody and everybody, no matter what book genre you lean towards, will enjoy this book. It has a bit of everything and a whole lot of sexiness that I may not have already mentioned a couple times. Oops? What's a girl to do when she stumbles on yet another bookboyfriend.. No complaints here!

Thank you Rochelle Paige for being able to provide a review copy! Your books will forever be on my TBR from now own :)

xx

Identity CrisisIdentity Crisis by Rochelle Paige

Adult Contemporary. Stands Alone.
Identity Crisis was my first Rochelle Paige book and it won’t be my last! It has mystery, action, a likable heroine and a hot, dirty talking Navy SEAL. What more do you need?

I read this book so quickly, I feel badly that I am only just writing up my review now, because I really enjoyed it! I never realized Rochelle Paige wrote such hot alphas. Well duh, I should have, considering she was part of an Alpha Anthology that I had her sign.

Delia Sinclair is a romance author. She doesn’t have a guy in her life, because frankly, nobody can live up to the ones in her books. Getting close to her deadline, Delia heads out of town to a remote cabin with no internet and phone to distract her from her writing.

QUOTE MARKI would give just about anything to have an alpha hero of my own.”

Blaine West is an ex Navy SEAL who still works security. He gets a call from his childhood sweetheart, Serena, that she needs his help, she is in trouble. He is on the other side of the world, so he calls in a buddy to help her get to a safe place until he can fly back to the States. Only when he gets there, there is the dead body of a romance author and no Serena to be found.

Blaine knows there must be a connection between the dead author and Serena, so as he investigates the author, Delia, who isn't really dead, they meet and sparks fly.  The problem is, the bad guys know she isn't dead too, and Delia is now in real danger.

Cue sexy Navy SEAL offering Delia protection and trying to solve his ex’s murder. As the danger ramps up, so does the attraction.

QUOTE MARKShe definitely liked me thinking of her ass. And based on the heated blush rising up her neck, it was entirely possible she didn’t mind my domineering tone either. It was yet another quality about her that made her damn near irresistible.”

As the danger increases more, so does the heat! Whoa.

QUOTE MARKI want you on your knees, straddling my face.” My voice held a bark of command as I started getting impatient for another taste of her. I licked my lips, savoring her flavor—anticipating what it would feel like when she was hovering over me and I was able to hold her ass in my hands, pulling her pussy down to my mouth. “And I want it now.”

I really enjoyed the feisty heroine. She was smart and funny and not afraid to jump right in and do what needs to be done. I loved Blaine, and I really hope to get a story about his friend Brody next.

Likes:

•Lots of funny lines.
•Fast paced.
•Kept me guessing.
•Holy hotness! Rochelle can write alpha sex!
•I loved the heroine, she was sweet, sexy and tough!
•Blaine….sigh.
•Blaine’s friends…double sigh.
•Dual POV.
•Some scenes were emotional.
•Delia was a romance writer.

Dislikes:

•It may have been a little too quick. The story didn’t stick with me as much as I had hoped.

Rating: 4.25-4.5 stars. 4.5 Heat

The Down and Dirty:

I had no idea Rochelle Paige wrote such hot books! Identity Crisis was a fast-paced, exciting, sexy, funny read that I couldn’t put down. There were great side characters who I can’t wait to read about in future books, and I must say…I will be picking up more of her books. I can’t believe I haven’t before this. Identity Crisis was right up my alley.

4.0 RATING- I was happy to get the chance to read Identity Crisis as part of the Kindle Unlimited program. This was a "new to me" author and I was impressed with the authors writing. I don't want to give anything away but the suspense part of the story wasn't really my favorite. I tend to read more about stalkers and crazy ex's but overall I thought it was well done. The story definitely was steamy at least compared to what I was expecting and the hero was alpha (his bossiness really kicks in around the 40% mark).

Overall, I thought Identity Crisis was a better than average romantic suspense book and I plan on sticking with this series for sure. Glad I discovered this one!

I'm a huge fan of Rochelle Paige and when I heard that she was releasing a romantic suspense novel? You better believe I fangirled like nobodies business! And when it showed up on my Kindle? I stopped everything that I was doing and sat down and read that baby until the very last page. Yeah, it was that good!

Blaine is overseas when he receives a text from his ex asking him for help. Being the good guy that he is, he drops everything and flies home to help her out. When he's waiting for her to show up at their rendezvous point, he learns about a murder that took place there that morning. Coincidence? Yeah, he doesn't think so either. Especially when he searches his ex's house and finds several books signed by the deceased author.

Delia has been in her writing cave in the mountains finishing up her next book. She returns home to find Blaine searching her house and claiming that she was murdered earlier that morning. Of course the big question is since Delia is clearly alive, whose body did the police find?

The attraction between Blaine and Delia is immediate. Of course Blaine knows that he needs to focus on the case and find his ex, Serena, but attraction like that is hard to deny. As a woman, I had a hard time believing that Delia would be so quick to jump into bed with Blaine knowing that she looks so much like his ex... Personally I'd be worried that he's thinking about her the whole time, but once I got past my issue with that, I really enjoyed the sexy times between the two.

I loved how protective and possessive Blaine was when it came to Delia. He was alpha with a capital A and I absolutely loved it! And the epilogue? Such an alpha thing to do. LOL.

The action and suspense in this one definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Between trying to find Serena, getting shot at, and then trying to take down a group of baddies that none of the authorities have been able to take down in the past, these two (well three actually, if you count Blaine's buddy, Brody) definitely had a lot going on.

I was really hoping for more at the end but overall this was a great read. I'm not sure if this is part of a series or not but I really hope Brody gets his own book.

I liked this, I liked this a lot

Its really well written and thought out. I loved the mystery surrounding this story.

I have to speak my mind here, so please excuse me, but there are so many books with 'hunks' on the front that it gives the impression the depth of the story is going to be sex, sex and more sex. [Nothing wrong with that] but how do we readers distinguish between them if they all look the same on the cover. OK, look at the blurb, I hear you say, but .......

Anyway, if I hadn't had looked twice and read the blurb I would have missed out on a superb bit of work.

Blaine the hot guy in this book, takes a phone call from a girl he knew years ago, not only grew up together, but there was once a couple.

She is in trouble. And he had always told her, if you need anything, I'll be there for you. Here she is.

He puts arrangements in order until he can fly to meet her.
Bearing in mind he's and ex part of the S.W.A.T team, so he has skills that would come in handy for this story unfolding right before your eyes, because when he gets there, things take a turn unexpectedly and it appears that she is now dead.

Trying to track her down he meets Delia. There is a connection between Delia and his ex. Not sure what it is. But all does get revealed.

However, Delia has the 'hots' for Blaine and I think Blaine doesn't object to Delia either. There is a similarity between his ex and Delia, they are doubles.

Blain is known as a gentle soul and this comes out in the book.

This is a book you need to read in one sitting, its not one you can put down as its very enticing. It so gets you that you keep saying "one more chapter" and then find yourself at the end.

There is SOOOOO much to this book that the hunky torso on the front. Not that I mind looking at it.

I will certainly be looking in to more of this authors books and definitely recommending this book to my book buddies.

A mystery. A case of mistaken identity. A SEAL and an author. That's a good set-up right there, for a romantic suspense that was enjoyable and easy, sexy and fun, and a good way to pass a few quiet hours.

Blaine West hasn't heard from his childhood sweetheart for some time, but when she calls in need of help, he doesn't hesitate to get to her as soon as he can. Arriving at their designated meeting place, he learns of a dead body, but there's no sign of his ex...

When his path crosses with that of author, Delia Sinclair -- a woman that's supposed to be dead -- he knows it's no longer just his ex he has to protect...with the sizzling chemistry between him and Delia, his heart and her life are on the line.

I actually really enjoyed this story. As someone that doesn't read a lot of romantic suspense (but used to read a lot of thrillers and crime novels), I really wasn't sure what to expect. Also, Rochelle Paige is a new-to-me author, so I went into this one blind. And I was pleasantly surprised.

Identity Crisis was a really intriguing and fun story. The set-up of Delia being a romance author that can't find a man as good as the ones that live in her imagination was great; as someone that has a lot of fictional boyfriends, I could totally see why this would be. I'm not sure you can call their meeting a 'meet-cute', given the circumstances, but I liked how these two came together, and how they worked together. It made me happy to see that Delia was no wilting flower when it came to the danger they faced on the hunt for Blaine's friend, and that Blaine was both protective of her and willing to laugh at the changes in himself.

There were a couple of plot points that missed for me -- moments that I questioned whether something was right (the speed of the relationship between Delia and Blaine, given the circumstances) or smart (driving around in Delia's car?). However, these are smallish things that didn't change the fact that Ms. Paige wrote a really interesting and engaging story, with good, strong characters, both primary and secondary.

To that end, I'd be very interested to read more from her in future. A story for Brody, for example, would definitely be something I'd enjoy reading; I have another quiet few hours that I'd happily fill with him. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars

~~~
This book started out with a bang. The story of the main character's (Blaine) history made me salivating at the mouth...and other regions down below. A Navy SEAL who now works in the security business for his best friend's sexy and rich brother. Um, yes. Sign me up!
The blurb did a great job selling me on the book, I love a little mystery with a whole lot of sexy and this book delivered. My only issue- the lack of realism. Even in romance novels, fiction has some truth. This book had very little. It went from zero to 100 in .3 seconds which caused for some unbelievable scenes. ~ Kelly, 3.5 stars
Identity Crisis was my first read by Rochelle Paige and I really loved it! This book was full of suspense, romance, super-hot sex scenes and a nice dose of humor.
Author Delia Sinclair has been living vicariously through the romance novels she writes for a long time now and is ready for some of her own excitement in real life. When a case of mistaken identity throws her head first into a reality that could have come straight from one of her own stories, she finds herself faced with dangerous black market criminals, shady FBI agents and a whirlwind romance with a hot as hell Navy Seal!
When Delia and Blaine are thrown together the chemistry is of the charts! Blaine is the perfect Alpha Male, all hard and tough with a soft spot only for his woman. Delia on the other hand is the perfect mix of quirky and a little bit insecure with just enough spirit and determination to get through this complicated situation.
Along with the two main characters, we also get to know Blaine’s best friend and preverbal partner in crime, Brody. I really hope he gets his own book!!!
I highly recommend this book and will definitely seek out more of Rochelle’s work. I am a new fan!
This book is an whirlwind for our heroine. Delia is an author who shut herself off from the outside world to finish her book. She is feeling sad and a little lonely saying goodbye to her characters. She spends much more time with them than real people. It's time to join the real world, maybe even find a man like one of the heroes in her books.
Be careful what you wish for.
Blaine was a navy SEAL, but has been medically retired. He is now head of security for a very rich man. When he gets a message from his high-school sweetheart, that she is in trouble. There is nothing else to do but drop everything to help her.
When the News breaks that a woman has been murdered, Blaine knows it is linked to the woman he came to save.
Our heroine finds herself in the middle of something that could have come from one of her books, complete with the super sexy hero.
Our hero easily slips into the role of protector. He must do all he can to find out why one woman is dead and another in grave danger. He has to call in his best friend and SEAL buddy to help.
A fast paced, and exciting book. Beautiful sexy characters, and lots of fun. There is obviously going to be a follow up book, that I will definitely be reading.
So this book was recommended by a favorite author of mine on Facebook, C.P. Smith. The first thing that drew me was that this book was written at the same time Ms. Smith wrote her book Framed, and there are a few supporting characters that did a little crossover in Identity Crisis. Now, seeing as Framed is one of my all time favorite books, and the author is also one of my favorites and someone I would consider a friend, I was really eager to give Ms. Paige's book a try. Not to mention, once I read the blurb I was definitely intrigued.
Let me tell you! I read it in one sitting. It was FAB-U-LAS! It kept me on the edge of my seat. It was very well written and the story line was so intriguing. There was chemistry galore between Blaine and Delia. I loved them together. I loved that not only did I get a great story line that was captivating, I got some humor, some steamy scenes, and some action. Plus a great ending and epilogue. It had everything I love in a good book. I especially love that at the end the author assures us she'll be writing a book for Brody, which I definitely can't wait to read!
A special thanks to Rochelle Paige as well as CP Smith for gifting this copy!
I received an ARC from the author herself.....it sat on my kindle for a day begging me to read it. I lasted until this morning to give in and read it! Oh how glad I am that I did! Let me just say I am not going to go into detail because I just want to tell you I fudging love this book!! The storyline dragged me right in within the first few pages. We have a hero, well we have two...Blaine and Brody. We have a heroine, Delia. We have dead bodies. We have a douchebag. We also have bad guys. We also have some sexy lovin' and a beautiful love story going on through most of the book between Blaine and Delia.
I could not put this book down and only had one break for a drink and toilet visit. Will do chores and cleaning tomorrow!
Hopefully this is a series and will be waiting eagerly for the next one if it is.x.
Some authors are either good writers or good storytellers.
Rochelle Paige is both.
As soon as I saw she was coming out with a new novel, I pre-ordered. It's a no-brainer for me. Rochelle Paige is fast becoming one of my go-to authors, with the novels from her Blythe College series being favorites among what I've read this year.
Understandably, Identity Crisis is more complex than the college-setting-type subject matter. Main characters Delia and Blaine are a bit older with successful careers, but beyond that, Identity Crisis features a dangerous landscape in which two innocents must navigate threats, a case of mistaken identity, and the underbelly of the black market. Although this novel is a departure from Paige's usual fare, the fact that she can do both well is a testament to her versatility and range as a writer.
Out of the five Rochelle Paige works I've read, this is probably my second favorite. (Drake and Alexa will ALWAYS take first place, I think. That being said, check out Push the Envelope if you haven't already!!)
Identity Crisis, I love this book!
From the start up to the last, I was hooked.
The story and the characters are amazing.
The characters, Blaine and Dellia are easy to love and get attached to.
Blaine, an ex-SEAL that work as a security for his mate's brother.
Delia, an author who is sassy and feisty.
When Blaine got a cryptic call from his friend, he did his best to see her.
But an unexpected thing happened and they are doing their best to get the bottom of the danger.
Ms. Rochelle nailed it again! Loved it!
Can't wait to see more of Ms. Rochelle's upcoming books!
Identity Crisis had me hooked from the first page. It is chalked full of action, adventure, romance, and humor. Blaine is a sexy alpha bad ass in and out of the bedroom. While Delia is sweet, strong, and sassy. I found myself cheering for them from the moment they met. This is one smokin hot read.
Rochelle Paige has seriously become a top 10 author for me. I one-click her books because I know, no matter the genre or content, it's going to be a fan-freaking-tastic read. Identity Crisis is another in a long line of successes. Now, I still have not learned to relax when a favored author starts a new series (too many expectations), so I was understandably nervous. But just like always, Rochelle pulled me straight into a story of intrigue and action with steamy scenes, a brilliant heroine, and a take-me-as-I-am alpha male.
Summary:
Author Delia Sinclair needed time and quiet to meet an upcoming deadline, so she packed herself away in a remote cabin to live the reclusive life for two weeks. Although she finishes her book on schedule, without cell service & internet, Delia is again reminded of her lonely existence. In her every day ordinary life she has limited friends, keeps to herself frequently (a hazard of the job), and dates never. She'd like nothing more than to have a little excitement and a hot guy or two. But can Delia handle her life instantly exploding with danger, intrigue, and plenty of feel-good sexy time? Blaine West has lived the last several years of his life by a strict moral code. Being an ex-Seal, he still does. Those habits are not only ingrained, but are also enhanced with his natural-born protective instinct. When he receives a frantic call from his childhood sweetheart, asking for help, he jumps to do what he can, despite being halfway around the world. With his contacts, getting someone to help her lay low until he gets there is easy, but can this unknown situation be so easily resolved? Both Delia and Blaine make it home to chaos: including police, danger, and a case of mistaken identity. With Delia believed dead, Serena nowhere in sight, and hidden threats lurking around every corner, Blaine and Delia are forced together to get to the bottom of things. Blaine has skills and contacts that Delia won't survive without, while Delia brings a unique point of view to the table. Will their combined efforts be enough to stop the peril hanging over their heads, and is the uncontrollable chemistry they share genuine or a product of their close proximity and intense situation. Time will tell, but time is one thing they don't have.
I really enjoyed this story. It started off with a bang, jumping almost immediately into action. Blaine was a tried and true alpha. I loved him. He had lived his life one way, then he meets Delia, and BAM!, he's got a whole new way of thinking. His protectiveness and possessiveness were spot on and gave me tingles. I love the heroes that can be sweet, sexy, and gentle, and yet hit the roof when another male shows the slightest sign of coming into their woman's space. Blaine was very take-me-as-I-am. He was what he was: smart, strong, brave, honest, alpha, protective, and possessive, and he made no excuses for it. Delia was a great heroine. From the blurb, you almost feel she will be shy, quiet, and unobtrusive, but she isn't. Despite her loner lifestyle, Delia isn't overly shy and she's not afraid to stand up to the men, showing she brings something valuable and unique to the table. The way Blaine and Brody were able to use her author expertise was unique and opened up a whole other POV. I also felt like it was some insight into Rochelle's life as an author and I loved, that. I liked the chemistry between Blaine and Delia, but it did feel fast. In fact the whole story was fast-paced, but not in a bad way. Part of the reason I think it was okay that their relationship progressed so fast was because the situation they found themselves embroiled in was intense, scary, and happened quickly. Supporting cast was great. I love Brody. He has so much hiding beneath the surface, and I cannot wait to explore what all he has to offer. I'm also looking forward to getting to know Damian better. I could really do without Agent Phillips, though. I disliked him intensely, and wouldn't have minded him getting his ass handed to him. I really only questioned what exactly happened to Serena and the contact Brody got to help her. Unless I missed it, we never saw them make contact with the guy. This book is loosely linked to a book by C.P. Smith, and I love this. Not only will we have some crossover, but it makes this world that's all too easy to fall into, bigger, adding more depth. Overall, this was a great read, and I want more. <3
I recieved an ARC copy of this book as part of a giveaway prize, and in exchange for an honest review. ;-)
I didn’t think it was possible, but Blaine has officially knocked Drake right off of his pedestal. Ok…maybe they are sharing it! Identity Crisis is amazing and truly Rochelle Paige’s best work! This book has action, mystery, sweet, & sexy!
Blaine is a retired Navy Seal who has been contacted by his childhood sweetheart, Serena, to help her get out of trouble. However, by the time he can get to her, trouble found her and she is dead. Or wait…is she? Or is it Delia, a reclusive author with similar features to Serena, who had been murdered?
With the help of another ex-seal, his best friend, he begins to investigate. The last thing he expects is to develop feelings for the young, beautiful, and charismatic Delia, who is suddenly embroiled in the middle of a dangerous situation that she knows nothing about. However, she is the key, their only shot, their…bait.
Blaine wants to protect her, but as he begins to fall for her, he begins to question whether or not he can put her in harm’s way to catch the bad guys.
Delia writes romance for a living, but has her feet firmly planted in reality. It’s quite a shock when she all of the sudden finds herself in the middle of what would make for a great romantic suspense novel. Complete with the sexy as hell, alpha, ex-seal who has decided that she is his. Not that this is a bad thing…who wouldn’t want a hunk like that making you feel safe and like a goddess?
Things heat up, in the bedroom and out. As they close in on the hunt, they find themselves up against villains far more dangerous than they were expecting, and forcing them to make alliances that go against their better judgment.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat, laughing at the sarcasm and humor, and melting at the sweet and very hot, moments. The story is woven cleanly, smoothly moving from scene to scene, and never becomes so complex that you are lost.
As usual, this author’s couple steam up the pages with their chemistry. Blaine is all kinds of delicious and Delia is spunky and fun.
The characters are very well developed, we truly learn about them, their backgrounds, what makes them who they are, and they come to life. Blaine, Delia, and Brody are all people I would love to be friends, and hang out with.
The author has clearly done her research, I felt that the technical information, military or otherwise, was realistic and definitely went so over the top that it felt like she had to prove her knowledge. It gave the whole book an incredibly authentic feel and just pulled me into the story that much further.
I would high, highly, recommend this book, and any other book by this author. Rochelle Paige has upped her game with Identity Crisis, she took a chance, going in a new direction, and absolutely killed it! 5 fandamntastic stars!
I was expecting so much out of this book that I guess it is kinda my fault that I didn't end up liking it as much.
The plot was okay-ish.
The writing was a little immature and I wish it had better finishing.
A lot of the scenarios and conversations felt forced.
The romance fell a little flat for me.
I am curious about Damian's book, though.
Well done Rochelle Paige, well done!
I've been a long time fan of Rochelle's books (all of which I highly recommend for one-clicking) and this one may be my new favorite. Action, suspense, passion and hot steamy sex: YES PLEASE!!!! This one definitely made you think as well.
Identity Crisis is very different from her previous works but at the same time has some of Rochelle's best trademarks. Alpha male? Check. Instant Connection? Check. Please note I didn't say insta-love, Rochelle does make them work for it despite instant chemistry.
Blaine was a Navy SEAL, incredibly sexy, and even more honest and upfront. I really enjoyed the dual POV, seeing inside his head was fascinating and entertaining. His training and military career were obviously well researched, which as a military wife, I really appreciate. His skills were very realistic and brought another level to the action and suspense. I loved his loyalty and his commitment to doing the right thing, no matter what the cost, or sacrifice to himself.
Delia was beautiful and sweet. She was the soft to Blaine's hard. Delia was a romance author and I really enjoyed how she applied writing and the research required for it to real life. She was so brave but at the same time didn't try to hide her vulnerability. Rochelle's heroines are always so different and I love it. Just because a woman is afraid, cries or depends on her alpha doesn't make her weak. Rochelle absolutely nailed this. Delia wasn't a victim, she fought and when she needed to, she let Blaine fight for her. And she returned the favor to Blaine. As much as he was her alpha and protector, she was his rock. Her strength was just a different kind.
The suspense really got me on this one. I was reading the park scene (that's all I say to avoid spoilers) and I may have actually yelled at my husband for interrupting me. This was a nail biter. I wouldn't have it any other way though. I will admit there is a strong possibility this book may make you cry as well.
There was definitely room for a second book based on the ending and I definitely could use some more Brody in my life.
“I would give just about anything to have an alpha hero of my own.”
I have been a fan of Rochelle Paige’s books for a while now so I knew going in that I would enjoy this book but I honestly can say that this is the best yet. Full of suspense, action, passion and a hot as hell alpha hero Identity Crisis is a book not to be missed.
“Take a good look at me, Blaine.” I shivered as his eyes locked with mine. “I already have every inch of you memorized.”
From the moment this book starts you can tell it will be fast paced and exciting. A identity mix-up, a murder and a former Navy Seal who will do anything he can to protect the sassy little writer he just met had me hooked from page one. Delia is a romance writer who has yet been able to find the kind of man who can live up to the sexy and protective ones she writes in her books. Blaine is a former Navy Seal who comes to town when his friend (and ex-girlfriend) calls him in a confusing and worrisome phone call. Suddenly these two strangers are forced together to solve a murder and make sure that both come out of it alive. They never thought that through it all they would find passion, lust and a connection neither can deny.
“Fuck, baby. You’re hot when you’re angry with me You just made me come hard and you’re still able to get my cock hard just by throwing attitude my way. I’m starting to think it’s a good thing you like to argue.”
As sexy and protective as Blaine was (and I loved him oh so much) Delia was the absolute highlight of the story for me. She was a perfect heroine, strong and determined she never backed down and even when thankful for help also insisted that she play a part too. Never content to sit on the sidelines and let others fight her battles she puts herself in some danger in order to help everyone when needed. She was sassy and fun and really made the story for me.
“Sometimes love hits you like a bolt of lightning.”
A sexy cover and a great blurb will grab your attention but don’t fear Identity Crisis will hold strong and keep your attention. A fast read that is exciting, fun and sexy trust me when I say that this book is one you won’t want to miss.
"I wanted a man my body craved, someone who made my heart beat faster with just one look, a look that said I was the only woman in the world. Fidelity, passion, and love...was I really asking for too much?"
This book!! Drama, a hot Navy SEAL, suspense, a sexy man, heart-stopping moments, lots of sexy time, and did I mention a hot, sexy Navy SEAL?! ;)
Delia Sinclair was a woman with a great outlook on love. She wouldn't be a best selling author of romance if not. But she had no clue that the stories she wrote, the situations she researched about, and the men she desired to be real would actually happen.
Blaine West was a Navy SEAL on a mission to find out what happened to an old flame when she comes up missing. When his search brings him to a local author, his world is turned upside down. She was everything he didn't know he was looking for.
"Take a good look at me, Blaine."
"I already have every inch of you memorized."
Goodness me!! Blaine had sexy talk down to a science! I love that he was everything she always envisioned in a hero character. And how her real life was playing out as if it was her very own fictional story. But this was very real, and she was in danger. Thankfully she had Blaine and his partner, Brody, by her side through it all.
**I kinda want Brody to have his own story...just throwing that out there;)**
"I've never felt anything like this before."
"Neither have I."
This story was fast paced, action filled, and sexy to boot! How Blaine protects Delia is how a woman show be protected..and vice versa.
They push and pull each other is the best of ways. They butt heads, but then they will do anything they can for the other.
"I was driven by my need to protect this woman. To make her mine in the most primal way."
"That man is going to drive me insane. But holy crap it would totally be worth it."
Such a great story!!! Loved every single part. Even when my heart was about to jump out of my chest!! Believe me, it gets pretty intense in there!!
Great job, Rochelle!!!
"Lucky me."
"I think I'm the lucky one."
"How's that?"
"I found you."
"I'm so glad you did."
