ARC review of New Chapel by Luna Day

6⭐️, 5🌶️, no notes.

~Lenore doesn’t know what to expect after being kidnapped and shoved into the back of a car, but ending up in a compound where followers participate in rituals and sacrifices was absolutely not what she expected. She wants to leave immediately, but the leader asks her to stay just for seven days, and she’s a *bit* of a people pleaser, so she begrudgingly agrees.
Eventually seven days turns into weeks, and Lenore is forced to choose to stay and become more than just a regular girl in a compound, or leave and lose everything.~

This is Luna’s first paranormal dark romance novel and she knocked it out of the park! The spice was spicyyyy, the side characters were *chefs kiss*, and Lenore & Ezra’s connection was sweet, and passionate, and only got more intense as their relationship progressed. If you enjoy dark romance or paranormal romance I 100% recommend adding New Chapel to your TBR!

This book has fully wrecked me, and I'm so totally here for it! I couldn't get enough of this book, and it had me invested and hooked to completely the entire time! Watching Lenore discover New Chapel and learn about the life there, was so beautiful, and I couldn't get enough of seeing her blossom despite her past! The way she stood up for herself and what she needed, amid the insanity around her, was so incredible to watch! And Ezra's strength and steadfastness while welcoming and teaching her, while leading his people so fully, was perfection! I fell so in love with him so quickly, and I know with absolutely certainty that I would follow him and join New Chapel! These two coming together was so beautiful, and seeing how they worked so hard for their life and their people was just amazing! The twists and turns in this book were absolute perfection, and I couldn't get enough of it!! Overall, this one was so good and I would love to just stay in this world forever!! 5 stars; 3.5 chili peppers

The suspense of this one! 😱 For most of it I was like 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘰𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨? 🤨🤭 New Chapel was so unsettling, but in a way where you’re completely hooked to the story and can’t put it down until you unravel all its secrets.

Imagine being k!dnapped and brought to New Chapel, a hidden community with the cultiest vibes. They worship a Forest God through the forms of body, blood, and breath. Oh, and their leader is a tattooed hottie who really wants you to stay but won’t tell you why unless you fully give yourself to him 👀

The mix of magic, prophecy, and suspense made New Chapel such an exciting read. The Night Eater was terrifying 🫣 but the romance was a double dose of sweet and spicy (the things Ezra says 😳🥵). And don’t forget the side characters! We all need a Rosie in our lives 🥹 What a total sweetheart.

I really loved this one! New Chapel was the perfect balance of romance and horror. I haven’t read a supernatural (lighter) dark romance quite like it before and I definitely want more of Luna Day’s writing 🩷

Holy cannoli, what an incredible book. For a lack of better words, it had me in a trance from the very first sentence. I simply could NOT put it down.
It genuinely had me wanting to find a cult to join, in hopes that it would be as amazing, loving & fulfilling as New Chapel.

This is the first book I've read of Luna's & I absolutely adored it. It is a wonderful mix of horror (light), romance, suspense & mystery. For it being her first dark romance, she did an amazing job. If I ever lost my memory, this would be on the top of my list to "read again", because every second of this book is absolutely captivating. It's a perfect addition to your tbr for spooky season! I loved following along with Lenore & Ezra's journey. New Chapel quickly became one of my favorites & I have no doubts that it'll become one of yours too!

I was drawn into New Chapel from the very first sentence, and it had me completely hooked all the way through.

I absolutely loved Lenore and watching her journey throughout the story. After everything she had endured, seeing her slowly overcome her trauma and find not only her confidence, but her voice and her strength, was one of my favourite parts of the book.

Ezra was such a captivating MMC. He was mysterious and intriguing, and there was something about him that constantly left me wanting to know more.

The side characters were also incredibly well written. Each brought something different to the story, adding depth, conflict, and distinct perspectives that revealed new sides of the main characters while moving the story forward.

The religious trauma and cult elements added such an interesting and darker layer to the story. But what I loved most was the contrast between that darkness and the genuine love and connection Lenore found in New Chapel.

Watching her find a family in the people she met, and experience the kind of belonging and unconditional love she had been missing made her journey that much more meaningful.

New Chapel was dark, emotional, mysterious, and completely captivating. I genuinely didn't want to put it down, and by the time I reached the end, I wasn't ready to leave New Chapel. An easy 5 stars. 🖤

IT’S NOT A CULT, ITS’S A CALLING!
AND I HAVE BEEN CALLED!
I am a pretty slow reader, who is easily distracted and I could not put this down.
I absolutely loved the pacing, the twists and all the turns of this book. It had me hooked. When I thought I had figured things out, it pulled me in another direction. This is horror, mystery, romance, Spice that delivers!
A strong FMC, who handled the entire journey of the story including dark past trauma with such grace, hope and resilience.
The MMC was mysterious, arrogant and morally grey in all the right ways or is he. The guessing back and forth had me all over the place.
New Chapel completely consumed me. It was creepy, adorably funny, gut wrenching and had me questioning everything. By the end I was left with question could I join a cult? Should I join a cult ?

I finished New Chapel approximately 30 seconds ago, and when I got to the last page I literally let out a breath and said "So fucking good".

Luna is a newer author to me, but I am so thankful to have discovered her, her books, and to have been so blessed to have been chosen as an ARC reader for this incredible story.

New Chapel is full of love, found family, overcoming trauma, and wresting with your inner (and outer) demons. I haven't read something that captivated me this fully in a long time, and I am so genuinely sad that this novel ended so quickly for me (I read it in about a day and a half).

I cannot wait for Luna to be able to share this story with the rest of you, and I hope you take a chance on the rest of her writing because it is truly phenomenal. This book has made it to the top of my favorites list, and I know it'll be on yours too.

I was so lucky enough to read this one early for @lunadaywrites and I wish I could scream to everyone about this book in detail but NO SPOILERS!

A woman with a dark past. A smexy c u l t leader. A MYSTERIOUS FOREST.

That’s all I needed to know and I hope that’s all you guys need to know about this book to read it. It’s out October 1 and could not be more perfect for spooky season.

I’ve never read a book like this! A unique paranormal romance that would have been a 6 star read if I could have have rated it that highhhh!

sweet nibblets, this book had me hooked from the first chapter, it’s one of those books that once you start you just need to know how it ends.

it starts off with Lenore getting kidnapped and being taken to New Chapel, where Ezra and her new future (if she chooses) are awaiting her. Ezra asks Lenore to stay for 7 days to see if this is a life she can envision for herself. Will Lenore end up staying and embracing everything New Chapel and Ezra have to offer, or she got back to her old life


This story has everything you could want in a dark romance, the spice, the suspense, the mystery, the supernatural, the forest, the rituals, the found family, the characters growth, overcoming past trauma and finding the ability to live and find the good in life again. This book did not disappoint in any aspect. It had me hanging on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what happens, it’s dark and twisty in the best way, and it will leave you wanting more (in the best way)

What a way to start spooky season!

This story is haunting, twisty and eerie yet beautiful!

I was so intrigued right from page one.

I am going to try my best not to give any spoilers because I think going into this book blind is the best way to experience it!

Lenore is our FMC who has a past filled with unspeakable trauma and she is thrust into this mysterious new place- New Chapel- where the MMC Ezra, encourages her to let go of what “should be” and embrace what “could be”.

Monsters, magic, fate, community, choice- it is all experienced here in New Chapel.

This story is full of found family, acceptance, love and light all while being strung along with something dark and sinister at every turn. This story kept me on the edge of my seat, just haunting enough that I was unsure about everything. I kept thinking “this is too good to be true, right? When is the other shoe going to drop. Something isn’t right here…”

Well… all I will say is…things do go bump in the night!

I had so much fun with this book, I cannot wait to see what happens in the next instalment.

Luna always has me eating up whatever she writes and this time she has me ready to join her cult. This book had me hooked since the very beginning. The traumatic back story that has you on the edge of your seat for little Lenore to gtfo of there, and then grown Lenore being shoved into the trunk of a car- this woman cannot catch a break! I just knew there was a reckoning coming!

Who knew you had to join a cult first? Getting to know New Chapel and it's 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 leader, Ezra, kept me so curious.. because he is so evasive and you get crumbs and you 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 to know. She's special, but 𝒘𝒉𝒚? They need her, but 𝒘𝒉𝒚? I loved every single crumb and moment of trying to figure out what's up with this place.. Not to mention the magic and people as well. Watching Lenore go from skeptic to watching the magic work and becoming closer to people at New Chapel.. really makes you understand the appeal.
And the ending blew my mind. 🤯 INCREDIBLE. Because the way it all goes down... my eyes were glued to the page until the very end! ✨️

Wow! I absolutely love Lunas books and this one was incredible! Different than what she normally writes, this book is a supernatural dark romance and she absolutely nailed it! Can’t wait for the next!

I absolutely loved Ezra and Lenore, the whole story line was amazing!! The spice 🥵🥵🥵 I was hooked the entire story! I’m so happy Lenore got her family she deserved, and having a best friend that cares for her the way she did, she deserves it all! 🥰 I could truly picture the ending vividly while I was reading as-well which I loved, and if you’re looking for a book that will rip your heart out this is the one 🥹 definitely had me tearing up 😂 very happy ending though! So thankful I got to ARC read it! Thank you again 🫶🏼

I had the absolute pleasure of BETA reading New Chapel twice, and I loved every second of it. This book is a heartfelt dive into religious trauma, found family, and the power of finding one's true self again. Lenore's character growth from start to finish is profound, and she quickly became one of my favourite FMCs of all time. While I miss some of the scenes that were cut from the original, Luna really outdid herself with the final version of New Chapel. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys dark romance with a side of light horror, or for anyone wanting to dip their toes into the dark romance genre.

Thank you for letting me be an ARC reader. This book was a new genre for Luna Day and she nailed it (romance and horror). The spooky, cult, Norse energy of New Chapel was intriguing and well written. I really connected with the main character Lenore. I felt revulsion when she did a well as peace and acceptance. My full range of feelings were experienced while reading. I could not put this book down. I loved the magic element in this world. New Chapel felt like a real place in British Columbia. The inclusion of runes and language felt authentic while reading and having the glossary at the back for translation was a nice inclusion. You will not be disappointed reading this book!
