An ancient legend states that anyone who receives the blessing of the three Crystals will gain the power of the gods and the ability to make one wish for anything their heart desires. The journey is fraught with trials, and only someone strong of will and pure of heart can succeed.

I've been writing since before I could actually spell and published my first poem when I was fifteen. I grew up in Cincinnati and went on to study education at Miami University of Ohio. Currently, I live with my cat, Luna, on the outskirts of Philadelphia, where I write all the things.

As of September 2017, I also maintain the website A Writer Reads (https://awriterreads.com/), where I review diverse books for the benefit of teachers, librarians, parents, and students.

This may appear to be a quintessential choose-your-own-adventure, but I find it much more enjoyable than your average novel.

For one, the main character (namely you, the reader) is female, a viewpoint often ignored by the genre. She is a strong, independent sort who has flaws and makes questionable decisions (especially if you decide to be a pirate queen), yet remains likable. I've never read a cyoa before with a female protagonist, so I honestly think it's quite cool.

The second point in favor of the book that the main love interest in the book is no Edward Cullen (sorry Twilight fans). He's not glamorous and charming. Actually, he's grumpy, is badly in need of a haircut, has a huge chip on his shoulder, and has got a steam-punk arm that turns into a sword. He can even turn his fingers into paring knives. How awesome is that?!

Thirdly, I like the fact that the main character's best friend is a lesbian. As I said before, this is not your typical cyoa. The author has written a book that reaches out to a broader audience than young boys who wish to go on an adventure. It's refreshing.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. You'll die during your adventure. You will die A LOT. You will also laugh a lot too. This book has a little bit of everything: magical portals, grumpy traveling companions, magical bags of holding, zombie uprisings, pirates, and romance.

Read it; you will not be disappointed.

Very fun book. This brought me right back to my childhood when I would devour the "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" Series of books. The writing felt a little clunky at time and some sections were rushed, but in a novel with this type of delivery being too descriptive is your enemy. I truly enjoyed this.
