Another great addition to this series of interconnected standalone. Emory Weste's books always manage to pull me in and I always feel so immersed in the story. This time it's all about Amir and Remi. Their lives and their love is complicated, maybe even a bit toxic at times, but in the end they fight for each other in the ways they know how to. This book also gives great insight into what it's like living in the spotlight and having fame thrust upon you with scandals and drama marring your everydays. As we've seen in this series, the main characters aren't perfect, they have trauma and might be broken, but we also see them work on themselves, have deep and meaningful conversations and fight for the love and life they deserve. Amir and Remi didn't have an easy road, but they got through it and I loved seeing them fall in love and work it out. Despite everything happening around them Amir and Remi managed to have a deep connection, even with Remi trying to shield Amir and being secretive. It all came out in the end, and Amir still stood by Remi, and he did it in the way that was most authentic to Remi.
This book touched me and while it made me emotional and cry, it also had me smiling and laughing. I loved the fact the we got to see some familiar faces from other books, and see that friend group prospering and living their best lives.

This isn't a lighthearted book, but it has lighthearted moments and I promise you that this book will pull you in and not let go.

I read this book in one sitting as I was so invested in Remi and Amir's story. I went into it without having read any of the previous books in the series so didn't know the back story for any of the side characters but will definitely be going back to at least a couple of those.

Following a one night stand that sees Amir outed and Remi running from his abusive ex, they decide to protect Amir's image by fake dating. We all know that fake dating quickly turns to real feelings and that happens quite early on in Challenge Me. The press are ruthless though and,knowing they have nothing on Amir, go after Remi in the most brutal way. His past has been one of abuse since losing his parents as a young child. Something he's tried to keep buried so he can move on. They also target Amir's daughter, Mal.

I not only loved watching the relationship between Amir and Remi develop, but the one between Remi and Mal. That one was truly special. Mal has autism and doesn't always communicate but she and Remi find their way and bond they form us beautiful.

There is a HEA but it isn't without endless drama along the way and huge sacrifice.

I did deduct a star for the poetry and constant talk about Norse Gods. This did become distracting. I think had an idiots guide to Norse religion been provided it at the start of the book it would have been easier to follow but I did find myself skimming paragraphs because I couldn't quite grasp what was being said. I don't feel I lost any of the emotions of the book by doing so

Remi and Amir are cool and all but Tommy was the side character MVP. If he doesn't find happiness I'm gonna lose it.

Remi's eccentricities grew on me pretty quickly. I especially liked how his use of poetry changed throughout the book. His rhymes ranged from genuine self reflection to verbal shields to hide behind.

The third act conflict got to me. By that point I was really invested in these two. Seeing them fight themselves so hard was rough after all the progress I thought they'd made. I'm just glad they got their hard-won HEA.

Once again Emory Weste has ripped my heart out and put it back together. Remi and Amir. 💞 there was so much to over come. Amir, it took him a bit but when he was in he was all in. He fought hard for his HEA with Remi. Remi just needed someone to demonstrate how much they loved him and that they would be there for him. Amir, his daughter and ex wife became his biggest supporters. This defiantly was more plot driven and limited spice but I loved that. I love reading about these to characters develop and grow and learn to love each other and themselves.

I have loved every book in this series and while the first is still my favorite this book came very close to beating it. Remi and Amir truly have something so special. What started out as a random one off bloomed into something so beautiful their chemistry and love was so beautiful to read and I just can not express how much I loved it!

Is number 6 in the unfix me series i’m not sure if it’s the real name of the series, but it’s what it’s called on Goodreads I’m a big fan of this series. I really like every single book that the author releases and I hope she will continue with the series because the end gave me a little idea for what might be coming next and I’m so down for that!

This book was totally different from the other books in the series it’s heavily influenced by poetry Remi mostly thinks and speaks in poetry so it took me a while to really understand him but once I did I just couldn’t help but love him and his poetry, some of them actually made me feel way more than I could have expected

The thing that didn’t quite click with me was the pace of the relationship there was so many ups and downs Remi keeps running from his feelings and the relationship while Amir keeps chasing besides that their relationship starts pretty much out with a one night stand that gets leaked to the press and then Remi suggests that they start fake dating so he can get away from his ex, but of course he doesn’t tell that to Amir and there goes quite awhile before he actually tells him why he came up with the idea and once they started the relationship, not the fake one, but the one they developed quite quickly might I add he should’ve told him even though it would’ve been hard

I’m so happy that I finally found a book that talks about the Norse mythology and beliefs I’m from Scandinavia so it really meant a lot to me. I get that some people might not understand but you would if we were talking about Christians and Jesus and God so just because you don’t understand don’t underestimated!

My favourite character is Mallory Amir’s daughter. She’s an absolute angel and an amazing representative for autism. She has the greatest personality and so much depth to her and I love her so much

I think the whole pressure from the PR and the journalists was a really nice thing to have in the book. It really shows how much pressure there is on famous people. Especially in this sport industry.

I rated this book a 4/5 star and I would like to recommend this book to someone out there who is looking for a fake dating, lots of trauma, hurt/comfort, sports romance but just so you really get the whole picture I think you should read the whole series you can of course read it without because it’s not necessary necessarily but in my opinion I think you should really get to know the other boys cause there are amazing
But remember to always form your own opinion and not just listen to mine until next time my loves….

This is the sixth book in the series, but it was my least favorite. I appreciate the message about overcoming challenges and standing up for the life you want, which feels important and relatable. However, the story started off slowly, and I didn’t sense much chemistry between the main characters. I liked seeing Mallory and Avery join the cast, but I wasn’t a fan of how often the story focused on spiritual themes. The books are moving away from the original friend group, and that sense of found family seems to fade more with each new installment. In the end, I just didn’t feel the same emotional connection to the characters that I had in the earlier books. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Remi and Amir’s relationship is a testament to the power of love. Remi, a young guy who lost his parents at a young age and grew up in foster care in San Francisco, found solace in the company of a friend named Oli (from a previous book 😉). Now, having escaped an abusive partner, Remi owns his own bar in where he finds happiness in his alone time, books, and Norse God poetry.

Amir is a renowned batter for a top baseball team in the MLB. Recently divorced, he co-parents a daughter named Mal with his ex-wife. Throughout the story, Amir’s daughter Mal and Avery play significant roles as he navigates the complexities of rebuilding his relationship with Remi. Their story serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating consequences that social media and vengeful influencers can have on individuals in the public eye and those around them.

These man survive a lot of hardships that would tear lesser couples to the ground. Combining families, fame, reporters who are looking to squeeze any lasting humanity out of their stories to get money and a selling story. They get through it all and come out on top.

Each time I think a new book is my favorite, Emory comes out with another masterpiece. Each of the stories in this series has a special place in my heart!!

Emory really knocked it out of the park with this one. I can't praise this book, and this series enough.

Remi absolutely broke my heart. He's chaotic, sarcastic, impulsive and basically a walking disaster, but underneath all that is someone who has spent his entire life believing that love always comes with a price. Watching him slowly realise that Amir isn't going anywhere, that Mal genuinely loves having him around, and that he is worthy of being loved without having to earn it first? Goddamn 😭

And Amir. Fucking Amir. The way he SEES Remi, even when Remi is doing everything possible to convince him to look away. His patience, his determination, and the way he fights for Remi when Remi can't fight for himself absolutely wrecked me.

Remi's relationship with Mal was so incredibly special and sweet. I just couldn't get enough of the two of them together.

The Norse mythology woven throughout Remi's life was such a beautiful touch, especially the offering he made for Mal 🥺

There was SO. MUCH. ANGST.
The media drama had me ready to throw hands!!
ALLLL the other shit with Remi's past had me sitting there screaming CAN THESE TWO JUST HAVE FIVE FUCKING MINUTES OF PEACE?!

But the ending? Getting that beautiful glimpse of their life seven years later absolutely made it all worth it.

Six books. Six couples. Six emotional assaults. One beautiful found family.
What an incredible way to end the series.

“What in the name of Homer’s blind eyes are you sorry for?” Who the fuck is Homer? I already hate the writing of this book and I’m only 7% in! All the mentions of these mythological figures are really annoying me. This isn’t a fucking fantasy book. I don’t know shit about Greek Gods or fake gods or poets. So I guess if you’re going to reference them in your book, maybe explain who the fuck they are or what the reference is. But I guess it’s my fault for not knowing!

Remi fucking talks in poems! NOBODY talks like this!

Also these guys are like 29/30. Something like that and they act and talk like they are in high school!

I think this series should have ended at book 3, Defend me. Book 5 should have been Trust Me, end then do a spinoff with a baseball series with Trav and now Amir. Book 5 was actually pointless and should have never been written honestly. But after the third book it moved away from that friend group and that’s what I loved about the first 3 books. They’ve just gone downhill after that. So, I won’t be continuing this series.

None of their conversations make sense. This book is just all over the place. Nothing is flowing well at all including conversations. I’m just really fucking confused at the point. Previous books were not written like this and I hate it.

Like everything is in poems. Conversations and inner dialogue. I just can’t. DNF at 25%. I’m out!

This novel blends media scrutiny, personal trauma, and unexpected connection, and while the premise is compelling, the execution landed unevenly for me.

The novel starts with a fantastic premise: Amir’s first one‑night stand after his divorce accidentally outs him to the press, forcing him and Remi into a fake relationship neither of them is ready for. It’s a clever concept.

Remi, however, remained too much of a mystery for too long. His guardedness makes sense given his past, but the imbalance in emotional labor—Remi withholding while expecting Amir to be fully open—made it harder for me to connect with him. When his secrets finally surfaced, it felt unimpressive rather than cathartic. The damage was there, but the attachment wasn’t.

Amir’s arc was more compelling. His struggles with divorce, fatherhood, and fame felt grounded, and his dynamic with Avery was wonderful. She’s warm, human, and supportive, and I would’ve loved more of her on the page. Mallory, meanwhile, was a standout—funny, blunt, and exactly the energy the story needed.

Some thematic choices, especially the heavy focus on guns and religion, weren’t quite my taste, possibly my Canadian sensibilities showing. The third‑act breakup also felt unnecessary and unrealistic given the media frenzy surrounding them, the fallout would’ve been far bigger than the story acknowledges.

Overall, the book has strong ideas and memorable side characters, but the emotional dynamic between the leads didn’t always connect for me. Still, it a great exploration of fame, privacy, and vulnerability.

So happy to see another book from Emory Weste in this series of ‘interconnected standalones’ six books so far.

‘Challenge Me’ is about Remi and Amir, a story which starts out as a typical ‘a gorgeous guy walks into my Bar’ vibe. He stays for hours after closing time, leaving a ‘damaged’ pool table as a constant reminder.

I was lucky to receive an ARC copy via the author and I’m voluntarily giving this, my honest review of ‘Challenge Me’.

There are many Chapters in this book and I like such books where the author gives so much space to developing the characters and you really get a sense of who they are and what makes them tick.

Such a diverse couple is hard to imagine, at 7 years old, Remi had lost his parents through awful circumstances and grew up through Foster Care system in San Francisco where he first met Oliver, (see previous book). Now, having ‘escaped from an abusive partner, he’s got his own bar in a different State where he works hard and is happy with his own company and his books and gods for company. I loved the ‘poetry’ that Remi came out with, mostly fixated on Norse Gods, that seemed to fill in the gaps when he couldn’t come up with words for his real feelings.

Remi just wants to run his bar and keep his head below the parapet so he cannot be found by his ex. His history and the cause of his inner trauma is also not something that he wants to come out and cause any damage in his new life.

Amir is a very famous Batter for a top Baseball team, he’s recently divorced and co-parenting a daughter with his ex-wife Avery (no cheating involved). His daughter Mal and Avery are important characters throughout as Amir tries to build a new relationship with Remi. Their story epitomises the damage that social media and vengeful influencers can inflict on people in the public eye and their not so famous friends. Amir is used to it and has a team who can smooth stuff out easily as he has nothing to hide. Sometimes they are the ones that cause the problems between Amir and Remi.

I’ve really enjoyed every book in this series and loved the MC’s. I liked that we could keep up with the previous characters in each as they were all College friends and were such great supports to each other. The theme of the series is the trauma that these young men endured during their early lives, many through lack of support from broken and dysfunctional families, and some growing up and surviving the Foster Care system.

What shines through every chapter is the support and loving care each MC receives from their friends throughout. Remi’s best friend Oliver, plus West, Talian, Dean, Brooke, Kai and Sen all look out for him when his very existence is threatened.

Although the PR/Social Media nightmare was subsequently brought to a realistic conclusion, I felt that the matter of the reappearance of Remi’s ex did not receive a satisfactory closure.

I hope that Emory Weste has more future releases in the pipeline even if they are not part of this ‘Interconnected’ series. I’d be interested.

Amir’s a dad, divorced from his wife, and quietly out. He keeps a low profile and doesn’t make waves in the media much as he can manage. Remi is a bar owner with a past, he has baggage from an abusive past. After what’s intended to be a one night stand, a reporter posts a tabloid with the two together. From that point forward Amir does everything he can for damage control and to try to squash the headlines to keep his family out of the spotlight.

What starts off as a fake relationship to control the story, Amir and Remy quickly become enamored with each other and lines blur on what’s real or not. Clara, the reporter with bad intentions and the will to do anything for a juicy story, continuously drags Remi through the dirt. Bringing up his past, framing him to look like a bad guy, and just generally spinning his own story against him. Remi eventually gets tired of it and derails everything.

I’ve been waiting for Amir’s story since reading Travis’s book. I enjoyed this, but at times felt antsy and like I just wanted something to happen. It wasn’t boring but there were moments that felt slow. The ending in a way felt rushed. The stolen car and visitor from the past was weirdly thrown in there with no resolution. Is that the setup for the next story? Did I completely miss something? The book itself tied up all its loose ends with the main plot, I just wish there was more consequences for Clara. And the entire Aiden thing was super out of left field so I’m hoping to get more about that plot in the future.

Challenge Me by Emory Weste is a fantastic read. I loved Amir and Remi and the cast of characters surrounding them. Please read the trigger warnings listed by the author as some very heavy stuff is either talked about or referenced. I fell in love with our main characters and even though the situation they found themselves in is not common for many of us there are plenty of themes that are. As someone who was outed I felt for Amir and had respect for him and the way he strove to take care of those he loved and for his relentless pursuit of the man he loves. Remi was very relatable and even though he experienced some of the worst things about humanity. He still was trying to find love even if he was scared and didn't always have an easy time or ability to articulate what he was feeling. I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. You have to read this book it was so good and there are several spicy scenes throughout the book and it is just very enjoyable.

This is the latest in a series and while I read the first, I haven't read the others and was able to read this without feeling like I was missing out. However, they are interconnected so I think reading the others would have added to the experience.

There were a couple of things that kept this from being a total win for me. Amir and Remi's relationship starts as a one night stand and when pictures are taken as Amir is leaving the bar, Remi bargains for a fake dating scenario. Not completely clear on why. Amir goes from irritation/not liking Remi to IN LOVE pretty quickly. There was a lot of repetition. Remi pushes Amir away, Remi runs from the relationship, Amir chases Remi, rinse, wash, repeat. While I appreciated that Remi was able to express himself through poetry, I found it unnecessary to have a poem before every Remi chapter AND throughout the chapter AND in speaking during Amir's chapters.

After absolutely loving the rest of this series, I was super excited to be an arc reader for Challenge Me.
I knew this book would wreck me in all the right ways as with the previous books.
Emory has a natural talent for writing incredible characters, their pasts, their presents and their future.
After learning about Remi's past through Oli and Dean's book, I was so happy Remi was getting his time to shine and heal from his past. Remi and Amir's love story is heartbreaking, with Remis past catching up to him and ruining his and Amirs love journey. Amir never gave up. He was protective over his family and Remi. And i loved how remi instantly took to Amir's daughter Mal and vis versa.
It was a hard battle for them to get their happy ending but it was incredibly deserved. And for all the past men to show up for Remi in his time of need. It was an incredible ending 💞
If I could rate this book AND this series higher, I would.

I didn’t know how to feel about this going in because Remi is a difficult character. Writing a lovable yet prickly character can be a real challenge and it’s one night. I felt the author nailed in this book. The book is long, but to me every word went into accomplishing the continued development of each main character and their growth together. Both MCs make a ton of mistakes and the storyline allows the room to do that. They’re also some real villains and just like in real life not everything gets tied up with a pretty bow on it. I think of all the books this may be the greatest and the characters because they were a little older than the college aged MC’s have been on the Earth longer, therefore they can be a little bit more messed up by their experience.

I love the series as a whole and read them out of order starting with catch me. There were elements that definitely well that the heart strings. Very much recommend this book. I also recommend that if you have any triggers, you check out the warnings.

This book was absolutely amazing! I’ve loved every book in this series, but Challenge Me holds a particularly special place in my heart. Remi and Amir quickly became one of my favorite couples, and bringing Mal into the mix made their story even more meaningful and special.

This book truly pulled at my heartstrings, and I was completely invested from beginning to end. It was emotional, heartfelt, and beautifully written. I also loved seeing appearances from so many of our favorite characters throughout the story. Those special moments made this book feel like a perfect continuation of the series while bringing everything together in such a satisfying way.

Challenge Me is definitely a must-read and such a wonderful addition to the series. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t have asked for a better way to round out the series!

This is Remi and Amir's shot at love. But things are complicated for both. Remi has made it through a tough childhood to the start of a new life in a new city and bar ownership. He was happy for a fresh start away from a rotten relationship. He was not looking for love or even connection at this time in his life but then he meets and has a connection with Amir that felt like more than one night. For Amir, a co-parent with his ex and a baseball player, a relationship was not what he was trying for either. Neither was he hoping to be outed. Theirs is a complex way forward and they truly have a lot of headwinds in front of their HEA. This story was at times emotional and tough, but some love stories are just that.

My Goodness this book had me invested that is for sure. I have loved this series so so much!

First of all I LOVE REMI! He is perfect. He doesnt back down. He is tired of having to fight everyone and I totally get that. His part was written perfectly. And oh sweet Amir didnt know what he got himself into with Remi. See their connection was so dang sweet. It was a hard fought battle but they did it! I love that we had other characters come and make a visit in this book. I love with authors do that. I had many many tears in this book. It was so good. I can not forget to mentions sweet Mal. She is so perfect love her little attitude and how she also fights for what she wants.

I can not wait to see what Emory has in store for us next!!!

I was so blown away by the depth of emotion and perseverance that was shown in this book. This author does a wonderful job of really taking the reader through the struggles of the main characters lives, not sugar coating it and showing us everything so we can see the growth from all characters. It makes us resilient from reading it and I truly enjoyed Remi and Amir's story. I loved Amir's daughter and how we see the main characters being supported by their friends/found family. Family is such a huge part of this series and I loved seeing all the previous characters 😁. Go preorder it and read it when it's out! Personally, I can't wait for the next one and I have a feeling it will be just as intense which is what I'm excited for 😁 Overall, wonderful story!

I absolutely have loved every book in this series, but this one stood out to me the most. My heart ached in the best way.
All the feels with this emotional roller-coaster ride Remi and Amir took me on their hard earned way to their HEA.
Between the banter so witty and the heated chemistry these two emited, I was completely absorbed in their story.
Emery Weste just has a way of writing these characters that are easy to get invested in and make you feel the ache and love through the pages.

I love this series so much and I was so excited for Remi and Amir’s story. Remi was probably the most fun and yet most frustrating character out of all of them. He’s had such a hard life and it’s made him jaded and independent and unable to accept love. Against his better judgment, he can’t help but fall in love with Amir and his daughter, Mal. I loved Remi and Mal’s relationship. Their banter had me giggling. Then there’s sweet, sweet Amir. He’s such a good person and I loved the way he protected his family and loved Remi so hard. The ending was bittersweet and had me tearing up. I love how everyone came together. Another amazing story in this series that gets all the stars!

This has easily become one of my favorite series. I’ve loved all of them, and I loved seeing Remi get his happily ever after. I loved him in Ollie & Dean’s story, and his story did not disappoint. Amir and Remi had such great chemistry, even when they were trying not to. I also loved what Amir gave up in order to be there for Remi and give him what he needed to live the life he wanted. I loved what Remi was willing to do to not mess up Amir’s life more than he thought he already had. I really enjoyed Remi and Mallory’s relationship and how it evolved. It had me laughing and crying. Overall, I had a great time with this one.

A total tear-jerker! I spent a whole box of tissues while reading Challenge Me. I loved Remi the most—his troubled past, coping mechanisms, and deep vulnerability captivated me from the very first page. I also found his Norse paganism beliefs so fascinating. Amir and his daughter, Mal, were wonderful, and the book was just too great for words when it came to how Remi treated Mal; he was the absolute perfect stepdad. Even though Remi and Amir's relationship started as a PR campaign, it evolved into something so heartfelt. And yes, I absolutely wanted to burn that witch Clara! 💔🔥

I believe this book deserves more than 5 stars. These two characters captivated me from the very beginning; just two pages in, I sensed great potential, and I wasn't let down. I recall reading book 4 about Roman and Travis and thinking they needed some time apart. However, with this couple, that didn’t seem necessary—perhaps all they needed was to sit down and make a plan.

I love how much I did not like and, at the same time, love Remi; he is so complicated, multi-sided. The way the traumatic event was integrated into this story feels unique and stands out distinctly. Although I can't find enough words to express how much I love this book, it still leaves a few questions unanswered: what happened to Cole and Clara?

I love how raw this book felt. Amir and Remi's HEA was hard fought and at times they went in circles and the sacrifices they made had to be made. Nothing was sugar coated, nothing was made simpler and those two fought for their relationship and gave up in equal measure but they always circled back to each other. It made their story so much more real.

Amazing read, absolutely fantastic. And Mal was the #1 highlight of this whole book.
I only wish i got more of West's shenanigoogles but a 5 star book nonetheless
