***THREE STARS***
I liked some of this story, but another part of me got really annoyed at the repetitiveness of this story and the way it drug on for freaking ever. The ending was very abrupt and an unrealistically a perfect HEA. I wish the author would have cut out some of the whiny internal dialogue repetitiveness, and fleshed out the ending a bit more so it felt a little more believable.

This is difficult for me to rate. The beginning of the book was 2 stars for me. I just didn't like either of the characters. I mean, Samuel actually says to her "How much for the entire night" like the 2nd or 3rd time he meets her. Its obvious that she is a seriously damaged (emotionally) girl and he says something like that!?!? WTF! Then the book gets a bit like 2 weeks notice (that Sandra Bullock/Hugh Grant movie). She is his assistant who spends so much time with him they live together and slowly fall in love. However, Grace never brings up any of the issues from her past. Its just kind of odd that they get so close to each other, feel that they love each other, but are both aware of the huge elephant in the room that no one talks about. I normally like dual POV but I kind of found Samuels POV to be uninspired and vapid.
However, I stuck with the book because I wanted to see how this whole thing would play out. I'm glad I did because once the book started to get into the real nitty gritty of the problems it got better. I thought that it was more real than the rest of the book although I still found Samuel to be difficult to connect with. I was glad to have an epilogue as well to see into the future of their lives.
But, I am still a little weirded out because they are cousins. He married and had kids with his cousin. I kind of saw where the book was going and had a feeling that she was the uncle's lost daughter, but their relation never became a discussion between Grace and Samuel. It was just weird for me. It can't just be me that finds that weird right? I mean, they didn't even address it!
So, for the first 1/2 of the book I was at 2 stars.
The last 1/2 of the book was 4 stars for me.
My overall rating is 3 stars!

Yes!!! This is a remarkable read. I struggled with my rating I loved the book, but the first 60 percent seemed to move very slowly for me, but once they got to the U.S. Things seemed to pick up. The last 40 percent is amazing and makes up for the first half.
Grace has had a hard life. A life no one should have to suffer from. I loved Samuel !!! I loved everything about him. He is understanding, patient, loving, caring, and sexy. The connection these two have is unmistakable. It's there and it's strong.

Over all this was a great read..

This was the first book that I've read by this author... I really did enjoy this book. Yes, the first half of the book was slow, but I felt it built up the character of Grace. The beginning of Grace's life was very poor. Her mother brought her up with her step father after taking Grace away from her real father. Grace was giving a life of physical and mental abuse by her mother and step brother. She was made to feel worthless and useless. Her step brother raped her and turned everyone against Grace. That's when she made a pact to change her life. She runs away to London and starts a fresh. She becomes an apprentice at a Top company, and quickly realises that the person that has been like a stalker is her boss Samuel... Grace realises she loves Samuel and Samuel loves Grace. As her past comes back to haunt her, Samuel has to help Grace live again. Happy ever after for both Grace and Samuel as they marry and have kids.

A touching story with lots of emotion to it. I will definitely read more by this author.

I must admit that I struggled with this book. The writting seemed unnecessarily repetitive. I powered through and at about 60% in, the story managed to, somewhat, redeem itself. In my humble opinion it could do with a bit of an edit... But, I am NOT a writer.

The story has a good plot. That being said, I did predict the events from the beginning.
The last 3 chapters were very sweet and melted my cold heart.

I think that a few "he's and she's" here and there, rather than Samual said, Samual did, Samual wanted would be great. It could do without the childhood events being rehashed too many times. We 'lived through it' so retelling it seems like its just filling out pages...
To be fair, the story is one that people could enjoy.

Elaine May is a new author to me and the blurb on the book had me intrigued. WOW! what a powerful rollercoaster of a journey I found myself on. I cannot fault any part of the story. The story was written well and with so much passion, my heart would ache at parts.

Follow the story of Grace as she tries to overcome the past and hateful words of her mother. And the comes along Samuel. Samuel is the guy that will do anything to protect Grace. When her past comes back to haunt her, secrets are revealed that could finally chance the future for Grace and give her one that she has always wanted and deserves.

A well written story that will pull at your heart. A definite must read.

This is an incredible book. The suspense is amazing, and there are scenes that had me in bits. I won't say which one (spoilers) but one in particular was one of the most tense, incredible, edge-of-my-seat writing I've ever read.
I fell in love with the characters, and the emotions and psychology as well as the suspense kept me reading until gone midnight, desperate to know what would happen next and what heartbreaking truth would be revealed!
Thank you Elaine May for another amazing read xxx

WOW!!!
I absolutely loved this book, it was wonderfully written and at times had me on the edge of my seat and on the verge of tears, there were a few twists but also in places it was obvious what was coming next but that didn't detract from the book at all. I fell in love with the characters and you are drawn into this story from the start to the finish.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I can't wait to read more by her. I read this book in about 2 hours as I just couldn't put it.

I'm not sure how Elaine May takes such dark topics and turns them into amazing stories but she does. Unworthy is a well written story of young woman who has been bullied and beaten down but is determined to rise above her circumstances.

Still blending into the back ground Grace didn't have any friends and kept herself away from any men, she had a plan and she was going to make sure she stayed with the plan, she didn't need any friends or boyfriends, they would all hate her in the end just like her mother did,

Your worthless.
You’ll amount to nothing.
Everybody hates you.
Your a nothing.
Your disgusting.
Look at you, your pathetic.

You hear this often enough, you start believing it right?

It splinters you.
It shatters you.
It breaks you.
Everything they say you believe because it’s all they ever say to you.

But what’s worse……It’s said to you by the very person that is supposed to nurture you, love you, take care of you and love you unconditionally.

Your mother.

This is Grace’s life.

A life spent alone.
A life spent in solitude.
Grace has nobody.
No friends.
No family.
She’s forever alone.

All she has is her work. A job she works hard at to prove that she is a good person. That she is worthy.

But everything will change for Grace when she meets him.

His name……Samuel.

Unworthy is one of the best reads we have had the privilege of reading to date.

It’s raw, it’s confronting, it’s heartbreaking, it’s breathtaking. The emotions that this novel was able to evoke in us left us in all honesty speechless. From the very first sentence right until the very end we couldn’t put it down. We were taken on Grace’s journey. A journey of pain and hurt. A journey of loneliness and solitude. A journey of hope. A journey of love.

We absolutely fell in love with both Grace and Samuel. And we are most definitely sure that anyone who picks up Unworthy will feel the same way. It’s a novel that should definitely be read by everyone.

To Elaine May. Thank you so very much for sharing Unworthy with us. We absolutely loved it. You took us there with each of the characters feeling their struggles, their pain and hurt. It was as though we were right there standing beside them. Just simply a spectacular read.

We highly recommend Unworthy to be on everyone’s TBR list.

REVIEWER: DAWN

Grace hasn’t had the easiest of starts in life, abused as a child she has no confidence in herself, full of self-doubts and recriminations she gets through life as best she can.Grace has two jobs one as an intern and also works tending bar at an exclusive club. This is where she first sets eyes on the gorgeous Samuel Harding. As soon their eyes meet there is a spark,a chemistry, he wants her but Grace's views of herself always stop her thinking any man would want her so the barriers come up. Samuel is determined to bring those barriers down, he asks her to help him out with something at work and as they spend time together, get to know each other, they slowly start to fall for each other, but can Grace get over the heartache of her past and face a new future with Samuel? Will she ever let him in enough to reveal the horrors of her early life? This book is emotional, raw and gritty, its heart-breaking at times to read all Grace endured in her life at the hands of the one person who is supposed to love you the most. Its told in dual pov which I always love as its great to get both sides of the story. The characters were easy to connect with Grace you couldn’t help but love her character after all the abuse she still wanted to move on and build herself a happy life. Samuel…I loved him he was smart, kind and caring and wanted to be there for Grace, wanting to make her feel she was worthy of love. There is also an element of suspense running through the book that keeps you turning the pages and interested till the very end. This is the first book I have read by Elaine but wont be the last!!

Ive read elaines other books and enjoyed them this is her newest release and doesnt disappoint.
This is the story of a broken young woman carrying the scars and heartache of an abusive childhood that goes on to affect her into adulthood.Grace doesnt think shes worthy of love, shes damaged, has low self worth and concentrates on her work life rather than a love life…till Samuel steps into the bar she works at.Samuel feels the spark when they meet he wants to get to know her,and Grace feels it too but is determined to stay behind her wall shes built up over the year.Samuel, however has a plan he asks for her help at work which brings them together, working closely spending time together they fall in love but damaged as she is can Grace let Samuel in,having never told him about her past if she does how will he re act??Will Grace finally find love?
An emotional read this grabs you from the start its by no means an easy read at times its upsetting and heartbreaking in places and you feel her pain, but whats inspiring about Grace is she wants to go on with her life and make something of it.Samuel is to die for…hes sexy kind caring attentive everything she could ask for in a man.Download this book and find out if he can indeed break through Grace’s steel wall and find a happy ever after.

Oh lord this is this book needs very little said about it other than the fact that it is a stunningly beautiful story.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to get at first, this was a new author to me but I have to say I was stunned into silence with the quality of the work that was laid before me and the depth of emotion that the story managed to engage from me.
I found myself feeling a huge sense of empathy with Grace.
She had a past that made me feel very sad for what she had been through, she deserved better, she suffered as a child and it clouded the impression that she not only had of herself but it also tainted how she perceived others saw her.
I applauded the fact that she fought hard to be more than she had always been and so much more than others had expected from her, because she was worth more than any of them!
Her life was what she had made it but when Samuel came into the picture, my heart soared for her. Finally someone who could see her for the glorious woman that she was.
He really was a beautifully caring man. He saw Grace for the real woman beneath the surface, the woman that her heart proved she was…Special!
He was as special as she was and he brought the family she had always deserved into her life. He gave her all life that together they could both revel in, grow into.

After having a terrible childhood. Grace is determined to be on her own. No friends, no boyfriend. If you have nobody you can't get hurt. She has a plan, work as much as she can, save her money and buy a house. So she will always have a home. Until Samuel walks into her life. No matter how she feels when she looks at him or the electricity between them when they happen to touch. She is going to keep her distance. Samuel, a billionaire and somewhat playboy is sued to getting what he wants and he wants Grace in his bed. The more time he spends with her the more he wants from her. He goes from wanting a quick romp in the bed to wanting everything with her. She is a tough case. the only women that hasn't wanted anything from him and one that has no problem walking away.

I was slow warming up to Grace. It takes awhile for her story to come out. You get pits and pieces of her story. Once the story picks up I realized she was a strong person to an extent. She wanted to prove the people in her past wrong. She was somebody and she could make something of her life. Samuel was arrogant, but yet still a great guy. As he got to know Grace and saw the pain and suffering in her eyes. He became determined to make her feel better about herself. He never rushes her. He makes her take small steps out of her comfort zone. Each time he does she opens up a little more.

Grace Ford was verbally and physically abused as a child. Now as a grown woman she tries to better herself. She is working two jobs. One as an intern for Harding International and as a bartender at an exclusive club at night. She lives in London. One night a very handsome man, Samuel Harding comes into the club and he is immediately drawn to Grace. He comes to talk to her but she thinks so little of herself that no man could ever want her. She destroys everything she touches, that is what she was always told. Her mom always told her she hated her and everything was bad because of her. Her mother was on drugs and always dressed nice but Grace had nothing. No clean clothes or food and nothing to clean herself with. She took a lot of bullying from school children but she kept going because she knew someday she would show them she was better than her mother. If you have triggers in your life this book may not be for you. It does have profanity and sex. this story gave me nightmares because I felt so bad for Grace. This story is so moving as Grace tries to deal with the fact that Samuel wants her and she feels so unworthy. I have never read a book that has affected me so much and that is why I feel it is a five star. A great read

Unworthy by Elaine May is a heart wrenching story of a young woman named Grace. She has been through hell and back in her life and see’s herself just as the people who treated her unfairly. Unworthy. Worthless. A “girl” who will never amount to anything. This broke my heart and shattered it into a million pieces. Elaine May did a wonderful job making you feel Grace’s feelings.

Samuel was in interesting character for me. He is a man of many means and knows exactly what he wants. Even when coming off arrogant, you love him. I did have a hard time connecting with him on the level that he seemed to move too fast for me. Everything was so instantaneous for him and his love for Grace and for some reason I had a hard time believing it. I felt that the beginning of the book was building up to this huge ending, and then in the last half it all moved so quickly I almost couldn’t keep up.

With that said, the emotion of this novel is REAL and RAW. You feel her pain and you just want to rescue her. It had an interesting turn that leaves you flabbergasted. The epilogue made my heart happy and it soared through the clouds. Elaine May is an author that has amazing potential and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Finally a proper review! Firstly I am going to start at the end. The epligogue had my stomach in butterflies and smiling from ear to ear. Such an amazing ending to a fantastic story.

The main story itself is full of heartfelt emotion, upset and plenty of anger. The heartfelt emotions are for Grace as you see her daily struggle to survive each day and keep her feelings for Samuel in check as she comes to terms with how she should deal with her growing love for him. The upset and anger come from all Grace has endured and how awful life she had.

The love between these two characters is so natural and real and has you wishing great things for them.
Samuels unwavering quest to get Grace in to his life on a romantic level is just swoon worthy! He never gave up on her even when she pushed him away, he saw something special in her and refused to let her go, what girl wouldn't love that??!!

Elaine May is a fantastic write who knows what it takes to connect her readers to her characters. So excited for her up coming work!

REVIEW
Wow what a riveting story. Grace is a woman who endured horrible verbal abuse as a young girl. Her mother who once loved her very much turned on her in the blink of an eye.

Grace never really understood why things were how they were when she was young. Moving forward Grace works two jobs because she wants something better in life. She has anxiety and doesn't date because she doesn't see herself as good enough or pretty enough until that one night while she is at work bartending. Suddenly someone is interested in her.
Can Samuel break Grace's barriers?
Can Grace handle all that is coming her way?

This is an excellent story, the suspense just grabs hold and you can't help but continue reading.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

A beautiful story!!
Wow! When you start a book not quite expecting how the book goes especially from the synopsis and finding it difficult to put down makes it a very enjoyable read!
I felt incredibly sad at the way grace viewed herself and the way her childhood was. She was trying to make her life better by doing well at her job and getting somewhere in her life.
Samuel- what can I say about him but What a beautiful man with a heart of gold. His pursuit of Grace, the way he viewed her and the way he treated her, made him a caring, special man in my eyes.
This story reiterates that how you are treated by your family when you are younger can have a detrimental effect on you later in life and the way you view yourself! I loved the direction this book went as well as how it ended...there are times when it's just heart wrenching to read but with Samuel and his family's support, Grace becomes a part of something special!!!
A love story with a difference!!

I had the privilege to read this book and This book was a true emotional ride it's got so much meaning and grit to it that you feel like you want to jump into the book and grab grace and just hug her. This book was so true, It's an issue that some people battle every day and the struggles to move forward.

Grace is a young woman with so much self dealt that she finds it hard to live life to the full she's been through so much that even her own mother was the evil seed that planted these emotions and thoughts into her so deep she is self destructing from within, I loved how she wanted to move forward and did what she had to, to keep herself on a balanced edge.

Grace meets Samuel and that's when her journey truly starts to begin but will she give in or hide behind her barriers forever.

This book is about those deep feeling that keep us trapped from blossoming and flying free ~ unworthy, betrayal, self harm, unloved, depression and self hate & insecurities.
It was a great read and a journey I enjoyed to the end.
I would recommend this book / Series and look forward to more.

Grace grew up constantly feeling like she was unworthy. Mainly due to her mother treating her that way. Now she is on her own, has not friends and has a plan to work as much as she can so she can save up for her own home. When she meets Samuel, who happens to be her boss there is something there. He is definitely attracted and he has taken an interest in her as well. But Grace has never felt like she is worthy of him. Will Samuel be able to make see how much she deserves to be loved?

I wanted to loved this book so much. Reading the synopsis alone I could not wait to read it. But unfortunately it just fell flat for me. The first half of the book seemed to be slow and also very repetitive at times. And I honestly wasn't even sure that I could trust Samuel in the beginning. I didn't connect with the characters or feel the emotions that I had hoped to. The last 40% of this book I really enjoyed. I loved seeing the past come back and see how it was all connected. And as time went on Samuel grew up on me. I also enjoyed the ending as well.

Seriously Good!
I really enjoyed reading this book. The author did an amazing job with this story. She took a very real, difficult issue that people have to deal with and handled it beautifully. I was drawn right into the story and kept there, turning pages until way too late, I just didn't want to put it down. There were times that were pretty intense, I went through a lot of emotions while reading this book. I really loved Grace, I felt so bad for her and all that she went through as a child, and how that affects the way she sees herself today. ALthough I felt that it was admirable that she was striving to rise above everything. I thought Samuel would be good for her if she could just realize her self worth and let him in. Will Grace ever get over the trauma that she endured during her childhood, or will she let what could be a good thing pass her by? I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Unworthy is a style of book I don't normally read, but I am glad I was given the chance to. Once I started reading I did not want to stop, even when I was forced to due to real life.

Grace was raised in a terrible childhood environment and she chose to let it run her life when she became an adult. She focused solely on work and would not let anyone get close to her in her personal life. It wasn’t until she met Samuel and he showed her slowly that she was capable of moving forward and in turn she started realizing that she deserved more in life when just working.

I normally enjoy dual point of view books but I found this one is was more Grace’s view than Samuel’s and I was hoping to have it equally both POV's.

I am really glad I read this book as it shows that even with the darkest childhoods and demons as a adult, one can grow and have a happy normal life with someone else. ~Review by Chrissy

Unworthy by Elaine May

Although a good read, I struggled a bit with this book. We meet Grace and Samuel in Unworthy. Grace is a young woman who severely suffers from a very low self-esteem, which was caused wholly in part due to her mother; who is a very evil and hateful woman who should have never had children.

When Samuel enters the picture, he throws a wrench in Grace’s plan to live a quiet life where no one notices her. But Samuel notices and what he sees is something special in Grace and feels she is worth all the effort it takes to find their happiness.

Grace’s self-doubt was annoying at times. But, I enjoyed how the author weaved us along in the story; brining us through the high and low points of Grace & Samuel’s relationship.

In the end, I am happy that these two are triumphant and find the HEA they deserve.

What would you do if your entire life you were told you were worthless and that not one will ever love you and that it's all your fault that your father left you. Well that's what happened with Grace and the poor girl has felt worthless her entire life. She has tried to take her life but couldn't do it. Now Grace is about to have her life turned upside down. She works for a business but stays in the background and does everyone else work for them but when the big boss comes for a visit things will change. Samuel Harding is the son who is being groomed to take over the family business. When he lays eyes on Grace he feels something so strong it's unthinkable. However she will fight it. When something comes up with the company he asks her for her help. They have sparks but will they be able to act on them? And will the secrets that come out be able to help heal Grace?

I loved loved Grace and Samuel's love story. I loved loved loved that he saw her for who she was. This beautiful, strong, heartwarming women. He fought for her, he loved her through it all. I think Samuel is one of a kind.

OMG..Grace's story is so freak-en heartbreaking. I cried for her multiple times. I can not believe what she went through...holy cow it was intense. I literally wanted reach inside this book at strangle the women who was was responsible for her not filling worthy or important.

I don't want to spoil anything, but this book definitely has a really great ending... Still smiling about it. Great book!

Love It

Wow I have to say that this is the first book and then first time that I read and hear from this author. When I got the book I was intrigued by the title and I have to say that she gave this book the right title. I felt in love with the book from the first page to the very last one, love the characters and love how the book end it.

The books is about a young woman that her mother never loved her or believe her, she has been verbally abusive and physically abused, all she wanted to do was to move away from her small town and better her life, when she seen that her life is going good she meets the handsome young man that turned out to be her boss and more than that. His the man that show her that she is Worthy of his love.

I really love and enjoy reading this book and can't wait to read more books from this author.

Grace has had such a hard upbringing, treated abysmally by her mother and left to the point she is pretty much an empty shell. She has no confidence and thinks very low about herself.
I felt so sorry for her, it made me feel like crying at times. The poor girl, she had to endure so much bullying and nastiness and from her own mother too!!!

And then one say she met Samuel, sexy, charismatic, caring Samuel. He wanted her and he needed to make her realise she needed him.

There is a few twists and shocks to come too, but it all comes together in a lovely heart-warming story culminating in a happy ending.

Absolutely fabulous

When I first got this book I was quite sceptical as some people can not write about that kind of issues involved. I was very pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this book alot. Grace has a past she's trying to over come and live a normal life that is until she meets Samuel Harding and sparks fly.
Elaine may is a new author to me and I wasn't disappointed with this book and will be looking to read more of her work.
My hat goes of to you Elaine may as this isn't an easy gene to write about and you got it spot on, some parts I laughed at but mostly with her struggles I cried as I could relate with certain aspects.
Well done!!!!
