Devine, Conviction is book 2 in Jake and Isla's story. You must read book 1, Devine. Surrender, before reading this volume. Thank you.
Our choices can change. Our lives can change. Our views can change. But can our hearts ever change what they feel? No matter how hard we try to choose the right way forward, our destinies are planned out from very early on, our lives mapped out the way fate deems fit for us. Our beliefs will always be varied but we all remain headstrong and wilful in our selfish views… that is until what you thought was fact proves to be fiction and what was unquestionable now blurs the lines of reason. Or hope becomes misery and love becomes hate.
In the conclusion to Jake and Isla’s story, the road to hell seems to be the easiest route available when truths turn into lies and loyalty turns to betrayal. But is their love stronger than the hatred inside them? Are their souls tough enough to survive the explosion and is their passion strong enough to endure the agony? It’s time for Jake and Isla to fight together, for one another and then finally… against each other.
This book contains violence, scenes of descriptive sex and strong language. It also contains mild substance abuse.

4.5 Stars!
"We were created for each other, Isla. Your soul was made to comfort mine in the nightmares and to dance with mine in our dreams."
The Conclusion to Jake & Isla's story.
Sidebottom provides the drama, the angst, the dark romance I need in my books. Just when I think she's done all she could to break my heart, make me fall in love, and throw my kindle, she whips up something else to shatter me, make me whole, or demolish my feelings. Conviction is another hit from the master of devious. This may be the perfect ending for these two, but I'm ready for a story for every last character.
I bow to the master of drama. I don't know who could come closer.
While I loved the plot in book one, I had a lot of problems with believability. Too many elements were just too far from what any plausible action, thought, or happening would be in reality.
I didn't necessarily have that problem in book two, but it did have its own set of problems.
The Good
I like unexpected. And, this book delivers that quite a few times.
I love that you think this story is backed into a HEA, but it makes a U-Turn just to f with you.
The Bad
Plot points don't add up...
So, Jake takes the blame for murders he didn't commit. According to the storyline, he didn't know the murderer's intent until after the fact and only planned to push Isla away once he realized he'd be going to jail. Here's the problem with that... He wants Isla & tells her from the start of seeing her again that he will f her body, then her mind, & then break her heart. He apologizes at this point and tells her no matter what happens to remember he is sorry and warned her. Keep in mind that when he says this ISLA'S MOM AND BROTHER ARENT DEAD YET!!!! So, why is he warning her that he's going to break her heart & apologizing before the murders if he had no idea that the murderer was planning to kill her family?
Isla's rape and the resulting death took place 10 fing years ago. So, why now? Why would these people take revenge now?!?
Jake and Isla meeting again was by chance. Her answering an employment as was by chance. There's nothing to be manipulated about either incident. So, basically she just happens back into his life. Yet, later in the plot, Seb is discovered to have had a 3+ month long relationship with someone in this revenge/murder plot that precedes Jake and Isla happenstance meeting.
^ The details to a lot of the plot points just don't add up. Most readers will overlook such because there's so many revolving doors here and so much going on sexually and romantically. But, logical, suspense thinkers will see these plot holes blinking at them like fireworks.
Too Harsh A Story For Flowers And Bows
I love a HEA as much as the next gal, and I certainly wanted Isla and Jake to get some degree of that. But, for shit's sake everything working out perfect and everyone surviving unscathed on the 'good guy side' is a bit much for such a harsh, dark storyline. Ehh, I dont know... It just felt like the ending didn't fit the rest of the story. I'm glad all ended well; it just didn't feel authentic to the rest of the story somehow.
Overall
Hell if I know what to rate this book or who to even recommend it to?!? It was one of those books that I had to finish reading even though I grew highly aggravated with the lack of believability in book one and the plot holes in book two. #clueless #stumped
It was entertaining and I really liked it until about 60% or so. First half a strong 4 stars, the second half I give 2.5/3 stars. It all went downhill for me. I have to believe in the hero's love for the heroine and I did until Jake started being stupid.
Another fab read by the ever-amazing DH Sidebottom, who just keeps pumping out more awesomeness. Jake and Isla are back and bringing the heat double time. Jake is in deeper than ever, and Isla is left wondering what she got herself into, and if her love for Jake can out way the odds.
This saying comes to mind when I think about Jake and Isla…”Things aren’t always what they seem”…and that can’t be a truer quote! They’ve had to conquer one obstacle after another, people trying to destroy their character and happiness; all while Isla is still dealing with the recent death of her brother. Together, they’ve become one of the most powerful not-to-be-messed-with couples around!
In the conclusion to their story, they’re met with friends turning into enemies, truths being turned into lies, and trying to find a way out of the chaos that surrounds them. Will the lies and sabotage get the best of them, or will their love shine? Never a dull moment with these two, and we can only hope that the crazy continues for a lifetime!
Lots more lies and secrets with Isla and Jake. Jake even though is a bad man has a really loving and generous heart. A really enjoyable couple of books.
What Can I say D H Sidebottom just blows my mind with every release she brings out they just get better and better and Conviction is no exception it is another amazing roller coaster of a read. This is the conclusion to Jake and Isla story I am not going give any spoilers but if you have read Surrender Devine 1 you will know the story and were it ends.
Isla is Hurt from the events of the ending of the first book people she thought she could trust she just doesn't know any more as much as she tries to stay away from Jake she can't help but falling right back to him.
In the conclusion to Jake and Isla’s story, the road to hell seems to be the easiest route available when truths turn into lies and loyalty turns to betrayal.
"Just remember things are not always as they seem to be."
So many Twists in this book and turns in the book had my head spinning people you though friends aren't who they seem. Will Isla be able to trust Jake will there Love survive when people are trying to tear them apart. So much happens in this book we even meet some "Old Friends" (Loved that part)
Is Jake and Isla love stronger than the hatred inside them? Are their souls tough enough to survive the explosion and is their passion strong enough to endure the agony? It’s time for Jake and Isla to fight together, for one another and then finally… against each other.
You really need to read Surrender before you start this book as this concludes Jake and Isla's story. Starting where Surrender ends, we find out what happens to Isla. Will she get the answers she needs? Will she find out who killed her loved ones and why? Will Jake finally stop playing games and start telling the truth? As always with D H Sidebottoms books this is full of twists and turns, not everything is as it first appears. The secrets and lies keep coming throughout this book and not everyone is what they seem to be, keeping you on the the edge of your seat. I loved Isla and Jake, i like the banter between them and Jake's love for her makes me go all soft and gooey inside. Saying that its not plain sailing for them both, Jake has hurt Isla time and time again, and she's not just going to sit back and take it (I love feisty Isla). If you've read Surrender then you definitely need to read this book. A story that will keep you hooked and guessing what's going to happen next, characters that you will love, suspense, lot's of 'I can't believe that just happened' moments, hot sex (of course), and a couple of old friends pop up too making this one of my favourites books this year. Definite 5 stars from me.
For the story I'll give it 4 stars because it was interesting and never dull. But the hero knocks it down a half point. In fact it would of been a 4.5 star but jakes behavior was unsupportive and or empowering. He was quick to judge and easily turned on Isla. He was so easily forgiven for his major transgressions. The coke snorting, threatening to take the baby and so on and his big apology was a lame I'm sorry that didn't last the blink of an eye. I didn't feel he was the same guy from the first book. But I still enjoyed reading just neither Jake or Isla were my ideal couple status or as individuals. After the first book I was sure Jake was going to hit my top ten hero list. But this book shed him in a different light.

Words just won't do this book justice!!!!! Another....yes another brilliant book from D H Sidebottom!!
I can't think of a single thing that I didn't like about this book, the plot, the twists, the suspense & how can I leave out the mention of much loved characters rolls in this story!!!! I loved it all!! D H Sidebottom brings her characters to life & drags us along in a tormented, nail biting ride right to the very end!! My emotions have been well & truly exercised while reading Conviction (Devine #2).
D H Sidebottom, your mind has done it again...another 5 star read. I can't wait to see what is next for the Devine team ;)
I was blessed to have received an Arc of conviction. Anyone who has read a D.H sidebottom book knows she always delivers and she knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats throughout, Conviction is a twisted roller coaster that has so many twists and turns, just when you think you know what's around the next bend BAM you are thrown off course. Dawn you are absolutely brilliant and I adore and worship you...
Spoiler!! It was so bloody good catching up with Mason and Ava, and then when Kade was mentioned I was totally thrown back to that scene. We all know the scene I'm talking about lol

This series so far is absolutely brilliant. With amazing new characters and some of my upmost favourites popping in to make a little appearance. I was glued and biting my nails there are that many twists and turns in this book. Isla has not disappointed me at all and is growing into the strong character I hoped she would be and I can't wait to hear more about Jake. He has lots of hidden talents, looking forward to seeing his in his younger days when we get Kris's story.
In this book Isla will be hurt for Jake’s betrayal with Genesis, for his arrest for the murder of Isla’s brother and mother. Jake has decided to sacrifice himself and take the blame to protect the true murderer as he believes he owes him, but Isla will visit him in jail and threatens him: if he pleads guilty, she will destroy his organization and all his friends. But it is not until she tells him that she is pregnant that Jake doesn’t react. And for almost 2 years they live happily, until the day of their son’s first birthday, when some photos are delivered at their home and all goes to hell. And so begins the dark times where the relationship between Isla and Jake will be seriously affected by the lack of trust, where friends will stab them in the back, the real killer of Isla’s family will come to light, where they will turn to old friends for help (the FOX are back,❤️them) and where Jake and Isla are about to lose everything. I absolutely love this author, her work and her characters and I dying to read Kris story.
“If I could take your heart and soul and lock them up in a glass container to keep them safe, I would,” Jake whispered softly in my ear. “I would. My heart and soul is already yours and all I can give you now is my arms.”
“I can’t ever give you up. Not now. Not now I have you. The first time I saw you I knew you were it, the one for me. You were so beautiful and gentle, like this perfect little flower that would lose its petals if the wind blew too hard. And when the storm came, you held on. Oh, how you held on. But now your petals are falling and you’re standing at the edge watching them wilt and drop. This isn’t you. You fight, Isla. You always fought.”
“I don’t tell someone I love them then go and fuck someone else the night after. In fact I’ve never told anyone I love them but you. If you think I take that statement lightly then you’re wrong. You’re the only person in my life that I love, apart from the guys, but that’s different. You’re not just the stars and moon for me. You’re my breath, the beat of my heart and the blood that runs through my veins. I wouldn’t survive without you. My body would die.”
“You and this miracle are my life, Isla. Whatever life throws at me, you need to know that I will fight back with an unreal force so I can always come home to you both.” I nodded, unable to speak. “I will never hurt you again. I promise. You’re my reason for breathing. I won’t survive this without you.”
“You’re mine, Isla. Don’t ever forget that.” She nodded, the lust in her eyes feeding my own. Drawing back, I narrowed my eyes on her. “Who do you belong to?” She panted, thrusting her hips up to try and gain some stimulation but I pulled back a little more, teasing her. “Isla?” “You,” she rasped. “You, Jake.”“Who does your pussy belong to?” “You,” she countered instantly, getting the hang of my needy questions. I’d never before felt this amount of jealousy or possessiveness but the thoughts that had gone through my head when I was locked up had nearly killed me. My imagination picturing her with other men after she decided I wasn’t good enough for her, the pictures in my head torturing me in the long lonely nights. “Who does your heart belong to?” “You,”“Your soul? Is it mine?”“YES!” she screamed.
Well what can I say.. I loved the heart of stone series and then this. From the first page I was hooked it was fast paced and a brilliant story love this authors work can't wait to start the next book from her 😀
DNF @48% This just became weird, cliched and a bit pants. I don't understand why he's doing what he's doing and her reaction to it all. I'm just perplexed and I'm giving up!
Another amazing 5 star read from D H Sidebottom. This woman never fails to amaze me with her writing talent and it keeps getting better and better. This is the second instalment in the Devine Series and should not be missed! 5 stars
I don't know how Dawn does it but she gets me every damn time. I think it's a testament to the story and the writing that gets me so invested in the characters, I know they aren't real but to me they are. Jake and Isla are back and nothing is ever easy for her, I know he loves her I really do but I wanted to punch his lights out so many times even as my heart was breaking for him. They are two messed up people who have so many people waiting to cause trouble in their relationship, as I read it I wondered how much more Isla could take before she broke. There is a lot of intrigue and wtf moments that I never saw coming, old favourites come back to help (yay yay yay) and the confrontation that you know had to happen had me on the edge of my seat, I think my heart literally stopped, the epilogue was just fab. I love these characters so much, I'm so happy we get more from them.

Pulse pounding! Exhilarating! Erotic and Excellent! Conviction holds you in suspense until the final sentence! When it comes to thrilling plot storylines, DH Sidebottom is one of the best. Conviction takes place where Surrender left us hanging and needing more. No worries though, all of our questions are answered, including the mystery behind Mr. Sexy Alpha Mafia Boss Man himself Jake Devine and Isla who is a lot more than we ever imagined she could be, even with all the misfortunes she suffered in her young life. The passion between Jake and Isla was Hot! Very Sizzling Hot! You couldn't help but to feel their lustful craving for one another, their relationship had some BDSM, some romance but the one thing that sticks out is the deep love and need for one another. I read this book in one sitting, I could not put it down, but that is not uncommon when it comes to DH Sidebottom’s book she manages to pull you in right from the start! Conviction had me gasping and screaming “Noooo” “I can’t believe that just happened” in so much of the book that when things continued on I was like “WHY? “. “PHEW” “Sigh” “What?” This story really is a heck of a ride! Suspenseful and thrilling and twists you never imagined were coming. I had such strong emotions for all of the characters in the Devine Series even the ones I wanted to smack. Every one of these characters has a story to tell, and if DH Sidebottom decides to give them a book I can guarantee I will devour it. DH Sidebottom never disappoints! This series is a must read!
Wow I just got finished with Devine: Conviction. Yes I had to keep reading Jake and Isla’s story even while out boating and while the guys were fishing I was reading.
Devine: Conviction is the conclusion of Jake Devine’s & Isla Cormack’s story. Yes they get married. There were several times that I wanted to shout at Jake. OPEN YOUR EYES and STOP BEING STUPID! No I can’t tell you why you will have to read the book since I don’t do spoilers. But, do yourself a favor and read Devine Surrender first. As in Devine Surrender Jake does a lot of pulling Isla in and then pushing her away and of course Isla makes her own mistakes. And, it is a wonder they are both alive! Again read the book I can’t say more. I really enjoyed this story
I loved and then hated the ending. Not for why you think. Jake and Isla have a happy ending and it didn’t really leave you in a cliffhanger but, it left me wanting to know now about Jake’s mother and her story. The next book in the Devine series will be Survival, Kris’s Story & Night Fires. Kris is a character also from Devine Series and I would love to hear more. And, I am sure Jake’s mother will be included in the book as well.
I give Devine Surrender 4.5 stars. And, now I wait Survival should be out in autumn 2015.
I was gifted a copy of Devine: Conviction for an Honest Review.
OMG! Never has a book had my heart stopping so often! You know, that feeling you get when something happens and you're not sure if your heart is actually still beating, whether you're actually able to draw another breath or if you're even able to continue reading. When you so desperately want to know what happens next but you're terrified of what that might be, what it might entail and who you might lose.
This book had me feeling this way all the way through...repeatedly....and at times I wasn't sure I could take much more but I also had an OCD need to keep going.
As always, D H Sidebottom's writing style is evocative and so emotionally draining - but in the best possible way! It's descriptive but not unnecessarily so but mostly it just calls to me.
This is technically the third book in the series if you count the novella (Loyalty, book #1.5) which follows book #1, Surrender and they must be read in order. I haven't said anything about the story in this book because it wouldn't be possible to without spoiling the previous books.
I started this series by going in completely blind and I haven't read any of the teasers and that's the way I think D H Sidebottom's book are meant to be devoured...in my opinion at least.
Another absolutely thrilling masterpiece! 5 devastating stars!
Well holy hella hotness !! Jake Devine lives up to his name. As always with A DH Sidebottom title the path of true love never does run smoothly.
There are twists and turns tighter than a hairpin bend !!
Assumptions, under stories, back stories, love stories this boom has them all !! We meet some welcome faces at heart stopping moments this book had me yelling and cussing one moment then balling my eyes out the next to wanting to bash the man over the head and send the author to Lian Yu for solitary confinement!
This story has got under my skin and I can not wait for the next one :) #writeDHwrite!!

My Review ''People never saw the real him, only what he allowed them to see-the outside'' Jake Devine is a complicated character, he is as contradictory as he is attractive (and trust me ladies, that man can make your pants melt at 50 paces!) On the surface Jake is a ''double hard'' London wide boy with zero scruples and even less conscience but his heart is ruled by Isla, she seems to be his sun, everything orbits around her. She's his light and he's her darkness. Sidebottom has created the perfect ying and yang effect with this couple. They embrace and compliment each others eccentricities perfectly. superbly written with an underlying plot twist that will have you reaching for the tissues and the Jack Daniels in equal measure. I'd seriously recommend that you read 'Surrender' first to fully understand the back story and the character progression. I genuinely can't think of a single thing that i didn't like here! Absolutely blown away but then...you expect nothing less from the queen of fiction! I, for one, will be waiting with baited breath for the next release 'Survival' coming in the Spring! 5 stars
Another 5 star book from the Divine Series by D H Sidebottom, This wonderful author creates characters and storyline's that drag you into the book, and you don't come out until the very last word, slightly breathless, heart pounding, asking question like "How, why, when, what on earth happened there and OMG". That is how good this lady is. We again follow the story of Jake Divine, who certainly lives up to his name and Isla Cormack his girlfriend. We were left on a cliff hanger before at the end of Divine Surrender, but this book more than concludes their story in an emotional roller-coaster ride of angst, worry, gasps, love, erotica and death. What more could you want !!! I didn't want it to end it was THAT good. The whole series is absolutely brilliant and I can't recommend it enough. All of D H Sidebottoms books are of this genre, so very very good leaving you with a new family, being it a book one that creeps into your mind and your heart and refuses to leave and why would I want them to. Well done Dawn you excell yourself everytime !!!
I didn't get to review the first one so I will review both now. I loved both books. Had me interested right from the beginning. I also love a book where the male and female lead know and admit they love each other right from the beginning, which pretty much happens in this book. There were some parts I feel I didn't get an explanation on but that is OK, I did think the main character female did do some stupid stuff where she went off half cocked and got herself in trouble, but I really dig her character, so I will forgive her, lol. I loved her and her friends and he and his friends too. Such a great series, just when I thought that I had run out of books on my kindle unlimited (I am addicted) I found this. I have also read a couple books from this author and liked them a lot and this is another one I loved. So really worth the read
Conviction is part of the Devine series so the other books need to be read before this one. Conviction continues and concludes Jake and Isla's whirlwind story. In true Sidebottom style Conviction has up's, down's, twists and turns and plenty of WTF moments that left me open mouthed and speechless. We see into the Devine family network getting a little bit more of a look at different character which I can't wait to see if D H deepens on the boys at a later date . We also get a visit from some special friends ( and yes I did happy dance a little ). D H Sidebottom is my go to author her heart of stone series being my favourite ever but Devine is snapping at it heals. D H never fails to deliver and I was certainly not disappointed with Conviction. Another 5* read for me.
A novel full of action, lies, deceptions, betrayal by friends and loved ones, deceit, trust issues and how to overcome all of that.
I know what to expect with D.H Sidebottom usually. I know I'll be given a couple fighting for the right to love amongst hidden monsters tearing them down, I know it will be an up hill battle that they usually overcome but the way she goes about it is amazing.
Captivating and gripping I just couldn't out this book down even IF I wanted to.
I'm anxiously waiting for Kris's story with contradicting thoughts of how can she beat the story line she just wrote, to wandering why I'm even questioning it as I know she will. Every book I read of this author's just gets better and better.
