Nameless #2

Embelesado

Rate this book
A requiem for the living. That’s what my life had been reduced to. And like a ticking time bomb, I waited for the moment it would all go up in flames. Because when caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, what else can a man do to survive?

Only this wasn’t a story about men, but monsters. And yet, in the midst of this mayhem, there was one who stood out. Santiago Rivas. A boxer. A fighter. A force to be reckoned with.

Captivated from the very beginning, I became consumed by him. For better or worse, I could never take my eyes off him, and now my only wish was to become the wound he’d never heal from. So even if, by some rare chance, he managed to survive, he’d never truly live.

𝙀𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙖𝙙𝙤 is a dark enemies-to-lovers romance and the second book in the Nameless duet.

Now that the lines have been drawn, the two are left to their final fight, with one question lingering above all: Is love enough? When there are no more masks to hide behind, no more lies to tell, and most definitely, no more hope to cling to, Santiago and Ariyan are put to the test. Will they finally break free? Or simply trade one prison for another?

Embelesado by Tal Lewin is the second book in the Nameless duet, and this is absolutely one where you should read Embriagado first. These books are really two halves of one story, and the emotional impact of this book depends heavily on everything that came before it. Also, check the trigger warnings. This duet gets DARK.

And then buckle up, because Tal Lewin is about to put her babies through it. 😭

Embriagado spent nearly an entire book slowly building the relationship between Ariyan and Santiago, only to shatter it right at the end. Embelesado begins in the wreckage of that, and Tal does not rush to put everything back together.

The relationship arc across the duet is stunning because it is so hard-won. Tal is very good at breaking everything down—the characters, the relationships, the circumstances surrounding them—and then slowly rebuilding toward something better.

Ari’s story in particular is heartbreaking. This book goes much deeper into his past and gives so much context for why he believes himself fundamentally unworthy of love and why keeping people at a distance feels safer than letting anyone close. Understanding him better does not magically make every choice he makes easy to excuse. “Morally gray” is honestly doing some pretty heavy lifting with these characters. But his history makes the walls around him much easier to understand. 🥺

Santi, meanwhile, has a little bit of golden retriever energy—but definitely not in a simple happy-go-lucky way. There is darkness and recklessness in him too. That energy is more about his warmth, persistence, and almost stubborn refusal to stop loving Ari even when Ari makes it incredibly difficult. He is patient in a way that feels especially important opposite someone who is so convinced that love cannot possibly last.

They really are golden retriever and black cat energy, if the golden retriever occasionally made catastrophically questionable life choices and the black cat might burn down the neighborhood. 😂

The dual POV adds a lot because Ari and Santi can experience the same relationship so differently. I always appreciate getting both sides in a romance, but here it feels especially important. Santi keeps reaching toward Ari, while Ari spends so much time interpreting love through the lens of everything that has happened to him. Watching those two perspectives slowly move toward one another is painful and incredibly satisfying.

I also love the meaning behind the titles. Embriagado evokes being drunk or intoxicated, while Embelesado means spellbound or entranced. That fits Ari and Santi beautifully. There is this sense throughout both books that they are drawn to each other in ways neither of them can entirely control, even when being together is complicated, painful, or downright dangerous.

And dangerous it definitely gets. This book is unpredictable, intensely angsty, and at times genuinely brutal, but I never felt like the darkness became too much. If you read the content warnings and still think, “Yep, give me that,” then absolutely go for it. Tal knows how to hit you right in the feels, and there were multiple points where I wanted everyone around me to stop talking to me so I could just disappear somewhere and KEEP READING.

There are also several characters orbiting Ari and Santi who make the story even more interesting. Dion remains absolutely awful, but there is also something unnervingly seductive about him. He is dangerous, callous, and very much a villain, yet somehow completely compelling. I hated him, wanted him gone, and also wanted more of him every time he appeared. That takes talent.

The final stretch is dramatic as hell, and for a while I genuinely could not see how Tal was possibly going to get these two anywhere near something resembling a happy ending.

But she does.

The rebuilding takes time. Nothing feels magically erased or forgotten, and by the time Ari and Santi finally reach something hopeful, it feels earned and hard-won.

The ending itself was sweet perfection. It does not belabor their happily-ever-after or try to explain every detail of their future. It simply leaves them in a place where, after everything, you can believe they are going to be okay.

I read the ARC electronically on my Kindle, but I will absolutely be picking up a physical copy because I cannot wait to see the illustrations. Tal is also a talented artist, and I am really looking forward to seeing whatever related artwork she eventually shares on Instagram and Patreon once it is safe to do so without spoilers.

I have nothing but praise for Tal Lewin’s storytelling. She has a way of putting her characters through absolute emotional hell while still making you care desperately about where they end up. Her books are fantastic, and I will happily tell anyone who asks me that.

Embriagado broke the glass. Embelesado takes its time putting the pieces back together—and somehow makes the cracks part of what makes the finished story so beautiful.

Thank you, Tal, for the opportunity to read Embelesado in advance. Fantastic job on this book and on giving these two babies the conclusion they deserved. 🩵❤️🥹🖤🩵

Embelesado is the finale to the Nameless duet, focusing on the perfectly messy story and relationship between Santi and Ari. Their love is unhinged, possessive, and angsty, perfectly encapsulating their emotional journeys throughout the duet, making it a powerful story I couldn't put down. Seeing them both suffer and process their intense trauma while fighting for their lives and their relationship makes this an intense, thrilling romance that kept me invested and intrigued about where the story was headed.

My heart broke for both of these men at different moments. Both have to lose everything to gain some sense of peace and understanding. They make insane sacrifices that cost them dearly. Overall, I could not get enough of this toxic duo. I love how their love and hate for one another are carefully separated by a thin line, while they are also so devoted and protective of one another that they would give up everything to keep one another safe.

This story takes risks, holds no prisoners, and goes in directions that are shocking and heartbreaking, yet full of hope. I fully recommend reading this story in full and cannot wait to see what comes next. I have an idea about what the next story entails, and I cannot wait to see their story.

What's the limit? How much can one endure before they break?

hahaha, the way Tal just refuses to write an easy story. because if there’s one thing you can count on with this author, it’s that she will take her characters, throw them into the deepest pits of hell, and then somehow find a way to make things even worse. *lol

Santi and Ari’s story is angsty and intense and that's what keeps me coming back Tal's books in general. I mean...

The reality was that loving him was killing me from the inside, and yet, no part of me planned on stopping.

but same as with the first part of their story i wished i could’ve connected with Santiago and Ariyan on a deeper level. like i wanted their struggles to hit me just a little harder, you know? but it somehow never quite clicked for me the way i had hoped even though i understood these two and appreciated the complexity of their relationship.

anyways, i still think Tal deserves a lot of credit for writing a story like this and you can tell how much she cares for and loves them!!

and then there was Nacio. oh boy, Nacio. his relationship with Santi was important to the story, but this boy tested my patience more than once. if not to say he drove me up the fucking wall. i kept hoping he’d come face to face with a hard lesson learned but i think it’s yet to be determined if he ever will. as Santi’s brother i hated the hell out of him but on his own he seems to be a very entertaining character. maybe one day we’ll see him again. i would def love seeing the world from his perspective. *lol

closing thoughts: even if this duet didn't quite manage to get under my skin the way other books by Tal did i'm not at all any less curious about what will come next. because one thing is for sure: this woman has a very particular talent for putting fictional men through hell and i am here for it!!

And just like it was with Embriagado, the name of this book was fantastically chosen. While the first book felt intoxicating, Embelesado absolutely captivated me from the first page to the very end 💜

Despite living through an actual war here, it felt like my heart went through a separate mini-war because this book HURT. There was so much pain, so many absolutely heartbreaking moments, so many unfair situations that I genuinely started wondering how the hell we were supposed to get to the HEA.

And while it hurt, it also dragged me through SO MANY different FEELS that it was crazy.

The book picks up right after the heartbreaking cliffhanger we were left with, and the intensity never lets up. This is not an easy story, and there is NOTHING predictable about the way it unfolds. You never know what’s coming next, and I had more than one WHAT?! moment.

Tal Lewin is a genius at writing complicated relationships, and I think that’s what I love most about her books. Nothing about Santi and Ari’s story follows the scenarios we’re used to seeing. Their dynamic is exactly what it was in the first book - constant confrontation, chasing and running, pushing and pulling. Unhealthy, messy, and devastatingly mesmerising.

“I can’t trust you. I most definitely can’t fix you.
Whenever I’m with you, all you do is hurt me, and yet, the only thing I am absolutely sure of is that I love you.”

Both Ari’s past and present are so awful and cruel that it was genuinely hard to read at times. And while Santi didn’t go through the same kinds of torture, nothing about his life is easy either. Your heart will be breaking for both of them, over and over again 😭

It was such a crazy journey. I very rarely say this, but I know 100% that I will reread this duet. More than once. There is just something so unique about these books, these characters, and the way their story unfolds that I know I’m not done and I need more.

Yeah, yeah, call me prejudiced 🤭 but anything less than me being stupidly in love with this duet is simply unacceptable.

At this point, I can safely say that Tal Lewin is a 100% auto-buy author for me, because I have adored every single one of her books.

I doubt I’m doing this duet enough justice with my words, so just trust the perfect rating and GO READ IT 💜

Oh woww... Welll, holy damnn. I knew this second book in this duet was going to be good, I knew it was going to hurt, and I knew whatever ending we got would have to be well-earned, and wowww, did it exceed every single one of my expectations. This was somehow even better than I thought it would be, and that is saying A LOT.

This second book picks up right where the first one left off, and considering the absolutely brutal cliffhanger we were left with, there is really no easing into this story. If you are expecting a slow beginning or even a little bit of time to recover, well... don’t. We start strong, fast, and apparently with absolutely NO concern for my heartttt.

There is not a single dull moment in this book. It kept me hooked and made it impossible to put down. It feels fast-paced, but in such a well-crafted way that it keeps you addicted, turning each page both excited and afraid of what’s coming next. This book is truly unpredictable, brutal, and sooo emotionally charged, and yet also so beautiful. You keep going through all that pain because you just know the emotional payoff has to be worth it, and my god, it was.

Ariyan and Santiago’s story trulyy didn’t spare my heart... like, at all... not one tiny bit, because WOW, was this a freaking rollercoaster. There were so many heartbreaking moments that made me have to pause and just process everything. It’s not an easy journey. We see them get hit after hit from every direction, but at the same time, we get to watch them slowly and imperfectly piece their lives back together. Nothing is magically fixed, nothing they have been through is simply forgotten, but somehow, through all the setbacks, they keep finding their way back to the hope that there could still be a future for them together.

We get to see them fall deeper into their own dark and unconventional kind of love, and their love was never built in a soft or traditional way. It grew somewhere in that messy space where love and hate are constantly at war with each other, where they both know just how much they can hurt one another, and yet what they feel for each other runs too deep for either of them to simply walk away. Their unique way of caring for each other was messy and possessive, but there was something so genuine underneath it all that made it beautiful to witness.

I can’t even begin to express what Ariyan did to me. In the first book, we get glimpses of his story and enough of his childhood and life to understand that there was a reason behind his harsh behavior, but he still felt closed off, like he was hiding not only from Santi but from us readers too. Well, not anymoree, because in this second book we dive deep into his past and present trauma, but also into his complicated mind, and trust meeee, nothing can prepare you for the full truth and the sheer unfairness of everything he has endured.

We finally get to really see and understand him, and yes, it is rough on the heart, but wow, what a powerful character Ari truly is. There was something so raw and painful in his thought processes, his reality, and the constant breakdowns he has to face that he completely wrecked me. There were moments when I had to pause and just sit with everything I was feeling for him because all I wanted was to beg for life to finally give him a break. Ariyan is the kind of character who makes you feel everything and more and stays with you long after you finish reading.

“El Embriagado. The drunk. I was his poison, the very thing he got high on, and I loved it. I loved knowing he couldn’t be without me, but that was precisely the problem, because I was just as much of an addict as he was.”

Santiago is hopeful in a way that Ari simply isn’t. His life hasn’t been easy either, and he has his own trauma and his own darker side, but there is still this part of him that believes life can get better. He loves deeply, he is incredibly loyal to the people he cares about, and my god, his love for Ari is definitely not healthy, but it is sooo strong.

That same loyalty is somehow both one of Santi’s biggest strengths and one of his biggest weaknesses. It pushes him to keep fighting, not only for himself but for the people he loves. But when it comes to them, his feelings can also completely take over. He becomes reckless, makes decisions based on emotion, and in this second book, we really get to see the consequences of that. Maybe his pain looks different from Ari’s, but it is no less painful, especially because this book hits him exactly where it hurts the most for someone who loves and trusts as fiercely as he does. And honestly, that only made me love him moreee.

“The reality was that loving him was killing me from the inside, and yet, no part of me planned on stopping. A slow suicide, that was what this shit was, and I guess there was no more denying it.”

I have come to care so much about these two characters that everything they were feeling and everything they went through felt like I was going through it right alongside them. Ari and Santi are really complex characters who are so different and yet complement each other in a way that makes them somehow just fit.

Are they healthy? Hell noooo, and there is sooo much evidence of just how toxic these two can be, but the way their vulnerability with each other grows throughout this book, in their own messy way??!?!! The protection and safetyy they offer each otherr!!??!?? And especially the unique softness Santi is able to give Ari and pull out of him??!?!! Ari is someone so hurt by life in general, someone who fought so hard not to fall for Santi, and yettt those walls still come down without his permission. And my godddddd, when they do... just know that I cried sad, angry, and happy tears because of these twoo.

“The rain continued to pour, soaking through our clothes as we faced each other, probably for the first time. He had no mask to hide behind, and I had no gloves to defend myself.”

Now I have to take a moment in this long review to praise Tal Lewin, because one thing I would probably say every single time I review one of her books is that I wholeheartedly applaud and admire her pure and wonderful way with words. Because holyyyy damnnn, she never fails to leave me impressed. To me, there is something so emotionally vivid about her writing, the way she can put a feeling into words and somehow make me feel it right there with the characters. And I love how intentional she is with her words throughout this duet. Every detail, every word, sentence, and conversation feels like it has a purpose. Her writing and character creation are honestly two of the things I have come to love most about her books.

I know I have used the words “pain,” “brutal,” and “heartbreaking” a lot in this review, and that is the truth, so please make sure to check the TWs and buckle up, because you will definitely feel. You will probably cry (I did), you will want to scream at Tal Lewin (I also did), but you will FEEL. You will smile, you will fall even harder for these two, and every time it feels like a car just ran over your heart again... and again... anddd one more time, just know that, for me, every bit of that pain was worth where their story eventually took them. I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to their story. It felt right for everything they had been through, and TRUST MEEE, my heart was veryyy full by the end.

Ufff, writing this was hard, not because I didn’t have anything to say, but because I apparently had way TOO much to say... clearly. This duet is incredible, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to read and review both books before release. Now I have to miss Ari and Santi since their story is complete, but I loveee them way too much to ever forget them. And I will never get tired of recommending Tal Lewin’s books, and this duet is definitely no exception. I can’t wait to see what she creates next.

“He might very well be El Embriagado, drunk on the wrong poison, but I was no better because whenever I looked at him, only one word came to my mind. Embelesado. Captivated right from the beginning, I’d been entranced by him ever since. For better or for worse, I could never take my eyes off him.”

BUUUT!!! these books also had quieter moments that were so sweet and tender too. (sweet and tender ― as a basket full of rabid racoons ― but sweet and tender all the same🖤✨🦝 (just kidding - kinda)
Seriously though, Santiago and Ariyan were beautifully resilient. And so imperfectly perfect for each other that I couldn't not root for them to be together.🦊🖤🐾

Ariyan and Santiago had my whole heart!! my heart was bleeding throughout this book especially reading about ariyan’s past. i literally cried!

Coming to Santi and Nacio, seeing the brother’s relationship fall apart was heartbreaking, but Ariyan and Santiago’s reunion made my heart so happy.

I’ve read Tal’s Bad inceptions series before, so i knew the writing would be good, but the way Tal expressed everything in this book was just so good. Overall I really loved it!

Did I finish Embelesado or did it finish me? I don't know but I was left happy so there's that. This book was ride of sad, sad, hope, happiness, sadder, anger, saddest and depression so much depression. But it ended with happiness and what more could I ask for(I want Dion and a certain brother's book if possible, please I beg😭). This was the very beautiful continuation and ending of Ariyan and Santiago's story. There was many highs and lows and very low lows that took my heart and practically danced over its shattered pieces. There are scenes that are heart-wrenching, heartwarming, and it really just it makes you feel a strong connection to the characters when reading.

In the second book, we get more of Ariyan's upbringing, and needless to say it's so sad no child should ever go through that. I knew his story was going to be sad, vut I did not expect it to hit me the way it did, and I want to give him the the biggest hug, and I don't like hugs, but I would give him one. He has never felt like he could trust anyone and the fact that he has chosen to finally trust someone is just so amazing to see. After years and years of loneliness, he's finally found his other half, and i'm very glad that it's Santiago. Now Ariyan is definitely a negative person, but I don't blame him at all for thinking that the worst will always happen. Given what he has had to endure in life he is very much in his right to believe those thought. Throughout the book it was easy to tell that his life was always on survival mode. He is a character that takes understanding and patience. He has me in the first book and in this second one he had me captivated. I love him so much😭

Santiago is definitely in the person made for Ariyan because of how devoted he is towards him. No matter what gets in the way of finally getting this relationship to work. He is so determined to finally get peace in life for not only himself but for Ariyan too. He is a fighter with a pure heart and his love is unbreakable, fearless, and soft and I think that is truly what makes him such a lovable character. To see how he puts his best foot forward and always tries to think positively. He never once is able to give up on helping Ariyan and it's really admirable to see just how far he is willing to go for the man he loves.

I said this for the first book, and I will say it again. Do yourself a favor and read this duet. Will you be sad? Yes. Will you want to throw your phone or book or however you're reading this out the window with anger and probably sadness? Yes. Will you need to go and touch grass? Probably, but it is definitely worth the tears and all of the emotions because it's really a beautiful story with wonderful characters that take your heart. It will probably alter your brain chemistry as well. All in all this was really good, my emotions were all over the place and my heart was broken, but by the end of this adventure my heart was put back together and I am so thankful that I was able to finally read this second part and get the closure in happiness that was needed.

"I was his poison, the very thing he got high on, and I loved it. I loved knowing he couldn’t be without me, but that was precisely the problem, because I was just as much of an addict as he was. Love is a double-edged sword."

The epic conclusion to Santi and Ari's story and Tal didn't disappoint! I have no idea where her mind comes up with these stories but I was on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen.

I think my favorite part besides their happy ending was the character development of Santiago. We literally watch this man grow up and it's a beautiful thing to see 🥹 I was heartbroken for him during certain events but seeing how he handled them compared to the Santiago we met in the beginning was so good to see.

I just love how these two were so toxic but it just worked for them. I love how unpredictable the story was and I cannot freaking wait for Dion's book. Make me hate that man Tal!!

Oh God. Again, same as before, I'm at a loss for words. You know, I always, ALWAYS get hooked on Tal's writing, and this second book of the Nameless duet is no different. I honestly didn't read it immediately when I got the ARC because I knew I wouldn't be able to put this book down once I picked it up!

This book is SO good. Great story, great pacing, and with everything that's happening, Tal manages to keep me hooked and wanting to know what happens next. This book was such a rollercoaster of emotions!!

First things first, I want to hug little Teo. Oh my God! What he went through at such a young age was beyond heartbreaking. In this book, we get to know more about what Ariyan went through and how he became the person he is today. We finally understand why he believes he's unworthy of love and doesn't deserve to be loved. Heartbreaking is an understatement when it comes to Ariyan's past. I just couldn't imagine how he managed to endure all of that. My heart hurt so much for him.

Ariyan is such a powerful character, not because of how cold or ruthless he can be, but because of how much he has endured and how deeply his past has shaped him. He's so broken that he genuinely believes there's nothing in him worth loving. He has built so many walls around himself, and the way he treats people sometimes makes it hard to see what's underneath all that cruelty. But as we learn more about his past, we start to understand the pain behind his actions. It doesn't excuse the terrible things he does, but it makes you understand him on a much deeper level. He's such a complex character, and I love how Tal makes me feel so many conflicting emotions toward him. Sometimes I want to hug him, and sometimes I’m still frustrated with him.

And Santiago... the way he devoted himself to Ariyan was just incredible. He truly loved Ariyan, and despite Ariyan constantly pushing him away, Santiago never completely gave up on trying to help him. He was willing to give Ariyan everything he had. Santiago was so kind-hearted, patient, understanding, and loyal to Ariyan. Seeing him get hurt because of Ariyan made me feel so sad for him. But he has such a strong heart, and even after everything, he couldn't bring himself to abandon Ariyan.

Yes, there was a point when Santiago had finally had enough of his own obsession with Ariyan. But then something happened, Ariyan started spiraling and breaking down, and Santiago still ended up being the person who was there for him. That's when Ariyan finally opened up to Santiago, and Santiago got to see who Ariyan really was all this time. And despite everything he learned, he still accepted Ariyan completely.

After that, Ariyan slowly started trying to accept Santiago's help and love, and I really loved how this book didn't simply go with the whole "love heals everything" thing. Yes, love was part of what helped Ariyan change little by little, but it wasn't that simple. His trauma didn't magically disappear just because someone loved him. Instead, we got to see them trying to work through their problems together. Their relationship was still rough, complicated, and messy, but I loved seeing how it developed. It wasn't perfect, but it felt real, and that's what made it beautiful.

And there were so many twists and turns in this book. Every time I thought they could finally escape all the suffering and have a future together, it was like, "Nope, not today!" 😤 I was literally gasping multiple times because SO MUCH was happening. And I mean A LOT. A LOT. Especially the betrayal. Oh my God, I don't even want to spoil anything, but just know that I WAS MAD.

And of course, Tal once again delivered such an incredible story. The thing is, you never really know where the story is going. I was on edge the entire time I was reading this book. Even toward the end, I still couldn't figure out how they were supposed to get their happy ending after everything that had happened. But somehow, Tal managed to put all the broken pieces back together so beautifully. Santiago and Teo finally got the hard-earned HEA they deserved, and I couldn't be happier for them. ❤️‍🩹

One thing I absolutely love about Tal's writing is how she makes you FEEL every character she writes. It's like you're inside their heads, experiencing their thoughts and emotions with them. She knows how to write a story that keeps you completely invested, with so much happening but without making the pacing feel rushed or dragging. I can never get enough of her writing!
All of her books in her previous series have been 5-star reads for me, and this duet is no different. An easy 5 stars for me!!

I still want more of them and their life together!!!! 😭❤️‍🔥

I have been waiting for this one!! Makes sure you read Embriagado first, but trust me when I say you want to. I love this duet. It is dark, full of trigger warnings but it is SO good!! This relationship gets build over the two books and it is just everything. I love how they grow and build to something amazing. The dept in Ari and Santi's characters, i live for that. To find those little broken pieces and recognize those in yourself. Every time I read a relatable character, I heal a little bit in their journey. I couldn't put this one down, this is definitely a book you need to pick up, I guarantee you won't be able to put it down.

What a heartbreakingly beautiful way to end Santiago and Ariyans story.
Everything leading up to the ending that they both deserved was soul destroying and yet still so full of hope. Im not ashamed to admit I cried a few times!! There are so many twists and turns, some moments I had to stare at a wall to get my head around, and I was starting to give up on a happy ending for my boys several times 💔
To see Ari finally snap and try to give up just shows how human he actually is, he finally found his breaking point and he went through so much trauma and brutality to get there. He is so strong, but I am so glad Santi never gave up on him. Even when he doesn't want to anymore, he loved him and did not give up on him and that just sums up Santi in a nutshell.
Absolute perfection from start to finish, I'm gutted it's over!

Oh what do I say about this book? It’s sooo damn good! I was so looking forward to finishing Ari’s and Santi’s story. It did not disappoint. I couldn’t put this book down. I needed them to be happy. I desperately needed them to find happiness.

This story is very dark. It tore my insides up. It was so sad. Cruel things happen. I found myself fighting through all sorts of emotions. Anger. Disgust. Sadness. But also glimpses of love, humor, and joy.

The story-telling is incredible. I never really knew where the story was gonna go. It was toxic and messy.

Ari is so strong. His will to live was extraordinary. And Santi just wanted to love him. Ari made it so difficult but for good reasons. He just wanted to protect him. At the end of the day, their love was no match for anyone. It may have taken a long time to get there, but I’m so happy they got their HEA. Even after how stunned I was with the almost ending. I did not see that coming!!

Tal - tysm for this ARC. You are so beyond talented. This duet is one of my most faves ever ♥️

Oh wow! I knew after reading the first book that this one was going to be an emotional rollercoaster and I was right! This book is one that will destroy you but also rebuild you! Loved this so much! I highly anticipated this read and I was not disappointed at all! This book took me through a range of emotions and I loved every second of it! Some of the twists were so shocking I caught myself saying wtf!!! But in the end everything was worth it! Highly recommend both of these books because they are highly addicting and totally worth it!

This book was again an emotional rollercoaster, full of misunderstanding, betrayal, pain, fear, etc. the story of Santiago and Ariyan is raw and complex, so many things are in their way that it is heartbreaking to see them struggle throughout their journey.

After everything that went done, Santiago is lost, he loves Ariyan but he cannot deny that he is overly obssessed and their situation is just so complicated. While trying to get out of the current mess, Santiago deeply wishes to start a new life with the two people who counts the most to him. Meanwhile, Ariyan is spiraling, his world is dark and somber, full of secret, of regrets and violence, surviving is what he always wanted and did everything for it but spending time with Santiago gave him some insight of another life.

This story was definitly intense and dark. I wanted to scream several times at them because damn that was crazy.
Dion is still a true psych0 and I love him for it, I didn’t think he could reach even more levels but I’m sure that Tal Lewin has something in stock for us !!

I received a Beta Copy of this book, this review is from my own thoughts 😍

If I gave the first book 5 stars, then this one absolutely deserves 10!! I honestly don't even know where to start. I loved this book SO much, and I don't think words could ever do justice to how much it means to me.

Ariyan and Santi's story has such a special place in my heart. I would literally die for these two. Getting to see more of their relationship in this book was everything I could've asked for. They're still toxic, obviously, but they also have so many incredibly sweet moments together, and every single one meant so much more after everything they'd been through. They're so different, but they fit together so well, and I absolutely loved seeing the sides they bring out in each other. There's just something about their connection that feels so genuine, full of understanding, and deeply meaningful. God, I love them.

And I think getting to know Ari better made me appreciate their relationship even more. Learning about his past was such an emotional ride. I already loved him in the first book, but seeing everything he's been through and understanding why he acts the way he does made me love him even more. He's done some awful things, and none of what happened to him excuses that, but it helps you understand how he became the person he is. There's so much gray to his character, and I love that. He can be absolutely ruthless, but seeing his more human and vulnerable side, especially with Santi, honestly melted my heart.

And Santi... I've loved him since the very first book, and this one just reminded me why. He's such a sweetheart, always wearing his heart on his sleeve, even when he's being a complete fool. He's so devoted to Ari, and seeing just how far he's willing to go for him made me love him even more. He has such a beautiful heart, and I honestly adore everything about him.

That's one of the things I love most about Tal's writing. She creates such complex, deeply flawed characters without trying to make them likable or excuse their actions. You don't have to agree with their choices to understand them, and I think that's what makes her characters so fascinating. They're messy and complicated, but they feel so real.

And I love that the story itself gets the same treatment. Tal shows such a raw and painfully realistic side of the world without ever trying to romanticize it. There were so many shocking and heartbreaking moments, but none of them felt like they were there just for shock value. Everything had its place, and even with so much happening, nothing felt rushed. I was completely invested from beginning to end, and the amount of times I cried over these two?? I genuinely lost count.

I absolutely loved the ending. Everything about it felt right, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up their story. I especially loved that their happy ending didn't come easily, and that they still had to face the consequences of their past. It made seeing them finally happy together even more special. After everything they'd been through, I'm just so glad they made it.

And I can't finish this review without mentioning the title. As a native Spanish speaker, I've always found "Embelesado" to be such a beautiful, meaningful word, and after reading their whole story, I love how perfectly it fits them!

This is genuinely one of the best books I've ever read. I love these two more than I can put into words, and I honestly don't think I'll ever get over their story. I'm going to miss them so much, but I can't wait to see what's next!

5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Disclosure: I received a complimentary eARC of Embelesado by Tal Lewin in exchange for an honest review.

Embelesado by Tal Lewin is the stunning, high-stakes conclusion to the Nameless Duet. Following the devastation of book one Embriagado, this final installment takes the shattered, beautifully broken lives of Santiago Rivas and Ariyan and puts them through the ultimate crucible. As the lines are drawn for a final, desperate fight against debts, gangsters, and the haunting ghosts of their pasts, these two complex men are forced to ask: Is love enough when there are no masks left to hide behind?

Tal Lewin delivers a narrative masterpiece that doesn't just try to piece together broken hearts—it tests them against the relentless weight of survival, grief, and unyielding devotion. In this concluding chapter, the veil is pulled back on Ariyan’s harrowing origins, exposing a cycle of trauma and impossible choices born from the cruelest circumstances. Yet, amidst the chaos, betrayal, and the desperate quest for freedom, Santiago remains the one unshakeable constant: a man who loves the poison, the monster, and the broken soul of the man he cannot live without.

Lewin’s thematic and linguistic brilliance shines brightest in the duet’s title progression—shifting from the intoxication of Embriagado to the spellbound, entranced captivation of Embelesado. The pacing moves through agonizing heartbreak, high-tension gang conflict, and a deeply earned, breathtaking trajectory toward healing. Backed by top-tier heat and searing emotional intimacy, the story explores whether two people can survive their own shared darkness to finally claim a free, normal, and peaceful life after immeasurable loss.

Embelesado is an epic, soul-shattering triumph of dark romance. If you survived book one, this phenomenal conclusion will reward your patience with one of the most exquisitely tortured and unforgettable love stories ever written.

Wow. Just WOW! 😭🔥

This duet was absolutely one of the highlights of my reading year and had me utterly CAPTIVATED from beginning to end.

If you like your books angsty, your MMCs flawed, and their love all-consuming, then this duet is for you!

“What’s the limit? How much can one endure before they break?” Ari asks himself.

Well, I think Tal was also wondering what the limit of her readers was. 😂🙈😂

Only read this book if you have a strong heart, because mine definitely skipped a few beats along the way! ❤️‍🩹

Book 1 ended on a cliffhanger, and if you think happiness is just around the corner, think again. This book will break your heart piece by piece, but it makes the healing and the sweeter moments that much more rewarding.

What made this story work so incredibly well for me was that, underneath all the ugliness, Santi’s soul remained a bright star. ✨ I absolutely loved him and the way he loved Ari with his whole heart.

Ari keeps thinking he’s better off without Santi and tries to push him away more than once, but Santi? That man is like a dog with a bone. 😂 You’re not getting rid of him that easily!

Their relationship put me through the emotional wringer, but the depth of their love made every heartbreak worth it. This duet is intense, messy, painful, and beautiful in all the ways that matter.

“Being a hostage of hope was a fate worse than death.”

So glad I kept my hope alive for their HEA ❤️

In exchange for an honest review i got to read the ARC of Embelesado by Tal Lewin by the author.

What do you say when a story is so dark but you want the person that's been forced into the track of a killer and a man that can hold others life in his hand and by the snap of that hand ruin a person's life.

Embelesado is the second and last book in the Nameless duet series by Tal Lewin and its dark and gritty and it hurt reading this story so much. Two people that first were enemies then slowly but surely falls in love despite all odds they have to fight to be free of the invisible chains that tries to destroy them both, on the way there is many sacrifices and blood pouring scenes of pain grief and a brutal world that does not play by the book. The heartbreaking pain both MCs has to go trough is painful and sad but for love is it worth it!

I loved every page of this book even tho it hurt so much reading it. The twist and turn at every turn just make this dark love story so worth it in the end!

Betrayal is never far away but will it help them survive what will happen? That's the big question and where I leave this dark mm story review at without spoiling too many details of what happens.

Highly recommended and I want to Thank Tal Lewin for letting me read both the books as ARC.

Embelesado is book to in the nameless duet following on from Embriagado.

We still get the toxic messiness but we see the walls slowly break in Santiago and Ariyans relationship. We see cracks in Ariyan mask. My heart breaks for both these men and everything they have had to endure.
After the constant toxicity, massive battles and immence lose they finally found some peace in their life.

I feel like I have been pulled through the ringer with their story. I have hated and grown to love Ariyan. My heart never stopped aching for Santiago.

The nameless duet as a whole is a gripping story of toxic love and betrayal. That will completely destroy your soul, amd mend it so slowly you dont even notice your breathing again.

I have no words for this book. The duology was absolutely stunning but also so, so heartbreaking.
Ari and Santi deserved the world and had to fight for just a scrap of calm and peace. The hits just kept coming, and I was crying so hard at the twists and turns. I got mad right along with Ari and Santi for every situation, and while the ending felt like a deep breath, I knew they would always have a struggle on some level. I’m in awe of their books and can’t wait for what has been teased next!
Thank you forever, Tal, for continuing to let me beta read for you!

Embelesado by Tal Lewin 🥊🖤
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Characters: Ariyan and Santiago
Tropes: final instalment in a duet, enemies to lovers, broken men, Hurt/hurt, obsession

Please read the trigger warnings before reading! This is the second and final book in the Nameless Duet and must be read after Embriagado.

I had the privilege of beta reading for Tal again and OH MY GOD. I thought Embriagado put me through it, but apparently that was only the beginning because Embelesado emotionally destroyed me in all the ways.

Ari and Santi are back, still completely unhinged, still toxic as hell, still obsessed with each other, and somehow even more complicated than they were before. Their relationship has always walked this ridiculously thin line between love and hate, and this book really shows just how blurred that line has become. They can hurt each other in ways nobody else could, but they would also burn absolutely everything to the ground if it meant keeping the other one safe.

What I loved most about this book was getting to see even more of what sits underneath both of these characters. They are carrying SO much trauma, anger, guilt and pain, and there is no magical moment where love suddenly fixes everything. They still make terrible decisions. They still lash out. They still hurt each other. They still have so much to work through. But underneath all of that mess is this insane devotion to one another that neither of them seems capable of escaping.

Ari absolutely broke my heart in this book. In Embriagado, I spent half the time trying to figure out what was going on inside his head because everything about him felt calculated and impossible to read. Here, seeing more of his pain, his motivations and everything he has been carrying made me understand him on such a deeper level. He is still complicated, still unpredictable and still very much Ari, but there were moments where I just wanted to reach into the book and protect him from literally everything.

And Santi 😭 This man LOVES Ari. There is no normal amount of devotion happening here. He is possessive, protective, angry, stubborn and completely gone for him. But I also loved watching Santi be forced to confront his own pain and the reality that sometimes loving someone is not enough to protect them from everything.

Their love is not soft or easy. It is obsessive, possessive, messy, painful and sometimes downright destructive, but somehow it makes complete sense for them. After everything they have been through, I never wanted a perfectly neat ending for Ari and Santi. I wanted an ending that felt like theirs, and that is exactly what this gave me. The plot also did NOT let up. Every time I thought maybe I could relax for five seconds, something else happened. There were moments that genuinely shocked me, moments that broke my heart, and moments where I was internally screaming at these men to PLEASE catch a break.

I am going to miss these two absolute disasters so much. 🖤

I cannot wait for what Tal writes next, I have a feeling it may be a certain unhinged Menace

Book 2 picks up mostly where Book 1 left off, which was a cliffhanger(so be prepared for that!). Ariyan(Teo) and Santiago go through so much for them to be able to be together. I'm happy for their happy ending, but not everyone got to the end with them. There are so many lies, so much deceit and so many plans that go wrong and some that go right. There is a lot of darkness and violence, especially with Eduardo and Dion and their animosity and the war that is about to start between them. Poor Ari and Santiago, but Ari in particular are between those two, trying to survive and get free of their reign.
Ari and Santiago also work very hard to be together. I loved their more gentler moments and the times Ari opened up to Santiago and they could build their connection. It wasn't easy for them, especially with Ari feeling unworthy, but I'm glad that in the end he understood that Santiago loved him no matter what.
I loved the end and the slower, more chilled life they had.

This was a wild ride, which I really enjoyed! I also shed some tears, while I also yelled at these two to work together on saving themselves.

This duet completely shattered me. I’m feeling so many emotions at once, but devastation and heartbreak are definitely at the top of the list. 😭😭 I can still feel their pain, and honestly, I think I will for a long time.

I am in love with these characters, with their pain and above all, their love for each other. The depth of their emotions completely blew my mind. And the plot, oh my Gooood, kept me on edge, worried, and captivated from beginning to end.

Honestly, what a brilliant piece of work! Both books deserve all the love and recognition in the world and so much more. I truly hope more people discover this duet and fall in love with it just as much as I did. 💜💜💜

P.S. Also, how people managed to read the first book and wait for the second book to come out after that cliffhanger is beyond me. 😳

Holy f'n crying for the whole last chapter!
I had no idea how this book would end, I just did not know how the author would give me what I needed and give Santiago what he needed and give Ariyan what he deserved.
Not with lines like "Ari-" " I'm asking you, what's the limit? How much can one endure before they break?"
And "There was so much spite in his words. ' Did you hope that your love would change me? Was that it? You thought that if you loved me enough, I'd eventually heal?' He spat out that last word. ' Please. Love is meaningless. Just another empty word."
Well if you have read the first book in this duet you know how broken Ariyan is, almost more than any other MC I have read. Top five for sure.
But the author did it! Kudos Tal Lewin.

happy pub day to all who celebrate <<333

closing out the nameless duet, embelesado picks up immediately after the absolutely gutwrenching cliff hanger of book 1. santiago deals with the heartbreak of the perceived betrayal while aryian is trying to recover, if that word is even suitable, with the aftermath of big boss man and the stark reminder of his bleak situation. we meet new characters, endure idiot brothers, and gain more fictional trauma! but my god if there isn't a light at the very far end of the tunnel and its every bit as beautiful as earned

having an additional book's worth of time with santiago really helped him grow on me. to be fair i rarely like characters who make glaringly obvious dumb decisions and i think his inner monologue that is consistently the opposite of reading a room did become more charming in embelesado. i think that his character, compliments ariyan (;) well on what he needs to value life in all its forms. he truly loves ariyan even though it historically goes very bad every time, and his heart of a boxer moral compass allows ariyan to begrudgingly fall in love and be the person santiago deserves. ariyans childhood and past is so complex and well fleshed out that as we learn the remainder, unfurls a whole new layer of him and his behavior until that point.

my only qualm? is not with the book/plot its how any reader wants a nacio storyline i get ~redemption~ arc or whatever but i say leave him in the gutter eyuck

anyways i highly recommend the nameless duet for those of yall in the liminal deathball trenches, meet the FINISHED contemporary counterpart

prepare to profusely sob mainly from devastation but then maybe of happiness? maybe maybe not youll have to read to find out by grabbing urs @ amazon/kindle unlimited >:)

so many thanks to the author for the eARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

The anguish I felt at the end of book 1 was NOTHING compared to what author Tal Lewin put me through this time. Well, Put Ari and Santi through really! — Their love is healing and destructive at the same time. Two people drawn to each other with a combustible passion and feelings that burned them again and again. Phew! I was so relieved to see them finally connecting in a healing way. A big thanks to author Tal Lewin for the early copy and introducing me to these broken but love deserving boys.
