cute second chance
**My one thing that annoyed me about this book was that a little over 30% of it was the FMC Daniella not communicating and keeping a secret. The mmc CJ and Daniella go back and forth in this portion. “I love you, but I can’t be with you.” The whole not communicating is annoying. The rest of the book is a cute and easy read.

Book five in the second generation of the Owning Vegas series and Kylie really gave us an emotional one with CJ and Daniella😭.
These two had a whirlwind relationship which was teased in the earlier books where they spent a week wrapped up in one another and when CJ asked Daniella to stay because his heart couldn’t bear the thought of being separated from her, she couldn’t. Daniella was torn inside out carrying a secret, that being due to medical complications she couldn’t have children. I completely understand why Daniella closed herself off from CJ as this of course this is devastating for any woman who wishes to be a mother to hear.
Years later the pair reunite in Vegas once again but despite CJ feeling hurt and pain from being cut out of Daniella’s life he is still drawn to her. He made every attempt to break down her walls to get her to talk to him about why she made the decision to leave, he made it quite clear that no matter how bad or upsetting he would support her and they would work through it.
I think what was even more devastating was that when CJ found out was that Daniella didn’t tell anyone what happened not even her own family, so this was something that she was carrying alone. All CJ wanted in this world was Daniella and if she made the decision in the future she wanted to be a mom there were options available for them.
My heart absolutely broke for the time this pair lost but they worked through it together. My kindle was covered in tears at so many points but I absolutely loved this book.
Also I just want to say I am very invested in Elias and Faith and would hope we’d get a story on these two👀.

CJ and Daniella's story was a little heartbreaking, which I knew was coming based on the previous stories, so at least I expected it. What I didn't expect was the reason Dani broke CJ's heart in the first place. Honestly, they were made for each other. CJ is the ultimate book boyfriend in every way possible, and my heart truly went out to Daniella and her circumstances. There's definitely some push, pull and even a shove or two, but in the end neither stood a chance at staying away!

OK but…..
It felt rushed! My head was spinning at one point as they went back and forth between yes we’re on and no we’re not!
I love Kylie Kent but this just felt a bit weaker than her usual fare. Still worth the read. Anything that involves the Lopezes is good by me.

There's a lot of history between them and even more left unsaid but this time, they finally have the chance to confront the choices that tore them apart all those years ago and why their hearts still beat for each other.
Oh my heart, this book was a second chance romance at its best. Two soulmates finding their way back to each other after losing way too much time? Sign me uppppp.

I loved CJ and Danielle together. There was so much history between them but I especially appreciated that communication became such an important part of their second chance. They finally had the conversations they should've had years ago, cleared up everything that had been left unsaid, and actually gave themselves the chance to understand each other this time around. When all was said and done, there was no resentment, no awkwardness, they just fell into each other so effortlessly.
Danielle, bless her heart, really did what she thought was best for the person she loved. Did I wish she'd just TALKED to CJ all those years ago? Absolutely. Because GIRL, look at all that time you two lost! But I also understood where her decisions came from, and there was something so pure about how much she loved him that even her biggest mistake came from believing she was protecting him. And CJ was absolutely Antonia and Carlo's son through and through LOL. He had that witty, smarmy personality with such a heart of gold underneath it all. Even after everything that happened between them, you could feel how deeply he loved Danielle. These two really were soulmates who just needed another chance to finally get it right.

That's something I always love about Kylie Kent's books. They're short and sweet while still somehow feeling complete. And I will forever love that we genuinely get to experience every generation of these families. There's so much lore connecting all of Kylie's books that every cameo and family connection feels like a little treat for those of us who've been following along. And of course, Emmanuel AKA Tio E AKA the love of my life making his royal appearance will never fail to put a smile on my face. At this point I expect that man to materialize in every generation forever and I will accept nothing less! I honestly loved this one, it was such a fun, endearing second chance romance and another reminder of why I have so much fun returning to Kylie's world every time.

Taking His Heart is the fifth book in the Owning Vegas 2nd Gen series. Unlike his cousins, CJ has never been a player because he has been in love with Daniella for years. Their connection slowly grew throughout the years. Every time they had a chance to spend time together, they did. She is from Australia so every time she came to Vegas, he was ready to spend time with her. When he asked her to stay, to give them a chance to have something real, she said no. She rejected him and told him they could never have a future together. So she left and left him devastated. She broke his heart and something in him changed. Now he is always angry when he thinks about her. She is back and he tells himself he hates her but he knows he never stopped loving her. This time he is gonna fight for her.
Daniella De Bellis has always loved CJ. She would love nothing more than to be with him. However, she believes they do not have a future together. So instead she left and broke his heart while breaking her own. She never told him the truth why she really left. Now she is back and her feelings are stronger than ever. With CJ pursuing her, she knows eventually he will wear her down and she will reveal what she has been keeping from him this entire time. I loved seeing so many familiar faces from different series. This was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. I was rooting for them since the beginning. This was filled with drama, action, danger, humor, secrets, heat, suspense, heartbreak, and crazy twists. I’m so excited for the next one.

She had her reasons, but I think she didn’t give CJ a real chance, so for that I was pretty annoyed with her. But what would be a story without the drama, right?
Dani is the eldest daughter of Gio and Elouise, and she’s been raised as the little princess she is. Being Gio De Bellis’s daughter, she knows all about the world that CJ’s family is a part of, so that’s not what chased her away. Instead, it was her own insecurity.
CJ is the son of Carlo and Antonia Bianachi. He’s set to take over from his father and has no issues with the role he is to play in that world. The only thing that has ever hurt CJ is Dani.
So there is plenty of history between these two and their families. There are secrets they are keeping from each other and their family, and when Dani’s family comes to Vegas for business, everything is finally going to come to a head.
CJ either has to fight for his chance with Dani or walk away. Dani has to either tell him her secret or never be a part of his life. And the families have to figure out what danger is lurking around them all.
This was another good book from Kylie Kent, and I’m enjoying the second generation and the cross-series relationships. CJ and Dani haven’t been my favourite, but it was a story I enjoyed.
It’s all the side characters, banter, and crazy moments that make these stories so addictive.
I have a feeling that the cartel and the Aussies are set to cross paths again, and I’m really looking forward to that one.
For now, I was pretty happy with CJ and Dani’s happily ever after.

When Daniella tries to sneak out from her hotel room to go out in a club, she gets caught by CJ and in that same moment, someone tries to shoot Daniella, but CJ saves her.
CJ is a loyal, protective and possessive man whose heart was broken by beautiful Daniella. He makes an effort to move on from her, but it's really difficult given how close his family is to her family.
Sassy, smart and caring, Daniella keeps a big secret from both her family and CJ. Despite her feelings for CJ, this secret stopped her from having a committed relationship with him.
They have a strong and intense chemistry. These feelings lingered even after a few years of being apart. Despite her deep love for him, she is unable to be with him because she fears that in the future, he would reject her or despise her because she won't be enough for him. Because CJ doesn't know what's going on with Daniella, he tries to pursue her to reveal the truth about why they can't be together.
Their bantering and interactions are amazing.
There are some twists which I didn't predict it.
Also, the appearance of side characters brought some interest and delight to the narrative.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 Stars) — A quick, smutty, second-chance mafia romance that perfectly expands this interconnected universe! 🔫🎰
Kylie Kent! My queen. Once again, she drops a quick, smutty mafia book that I devoured in one sitting. Seriously, I don't know how she does it, but every single book just drags me in and keeps me hooked. And being able to unravel another branch in this huge universe of connected characters is always amazing!
The Setup & Characters: 👥
This book follows CJ and Daniella. For fans of the interconnected universe, CJ is the son of Carlo and Antonia (from His Playground), and Daniella is the daughter of Gio and Eloise (from A Sinner's Promise).
• The History: These two had a whirlwind romance a few years ago, but due to some complications with Daniella's health, she broke it off with CJ, broke his heart, and left Las Vegas to head back home to Australia. 💔
• The Reunion: In this book, Daniella is back in Las Vegas and is trying to avoid CJ. CJ is also trying to avoid Daniella because he is still heartbroken and still loves her. As you can probably guess, that doesn't really work out for them, lol!
The Critique (Why 4 Stars?): 📉
This was a quick read (around 300 pages), and it wasn't a very deep book. I will admit it wasn't one of my absolute favorites from KK, but I love her writing so much that even her "misses" are "hits" for me! I just wanted a bit more depth to the romance, the character development, and the villain.
Final Thoughts: 💭
Even without the deep emotional complexity, it was still a fantastic, binge-able read. I am definitely looking forward to Elias and Faith's book next—we all love a good psycho! 🔪🖤

I’ve got to say that this is a fantastic, Fast Paced, Second Chance, Mafia romance that had me hooked from the very first page. There are equal parts plot, character development and spice and the story draws you in with the continued angst and yearning and then keeps you there with the humour and side characters. This is the 5th book in the Owning Vegas 2nd Gen series and as the cherry on top of the Mafia cake it features a cross over with the equally ruthless and entertaining De Bellis family.
Taking His Heart is the love story between Carlo Bianchi Jr and Daniella De Bellis and the thing that stands out the most for me is just how deep the love and connection between CJ and Daniella is, despite Daniella’s determination for them to stay apart. Daniella loves CJ so much that she is prepared to sacrifice her own heart in order to give CJ the life that she thinks that he deserves and CJ is so in love with Daniella that he knows instantly that there is more to Daniella’a abrupt rejection than there appears to be on the surface and is willing to fight for her if it comes to it. But a man can only take so much rejection before the bruises become permanent. If Daniella isn’t able to trust him with her truth despite his clear vulnerability then maybe its time for him to walk away in return.
However when it becomes clear that Daniella is being targeted by and unknown danger the pair are forced into each others vicinity, and its not long before the love that they have for each other shines through and the walls that Daniella has put between them come crumbling down in a haze of lust and impulsivity.
But with someone lurking in the shadows to take Daniella for themselves will their love survive the ever escalating danger?

Second Chances!
Years before Daniela walk out of CJ.life and never look back and took his heart too.He doesn't chase her,it's like he is numb,but he does keep his eyes on her and knows where she is and who she is with.So he knows when she is coming to Vegas again. It's hard on both of them but they finally do talk but Dani has a secret that only a select few know about and that is keeping her from getting CJ.'s back .She doesn't feel like a whole women and she feels that it isn't fair to CJ.But the people that know her secret try and talk to her and CJ.finds out from her why she walk away in those early years.But now they have to stay together because some one is out to end her life.This story is so good and has usual I like Kylie Kent's storys but when I first read this story I felt like I had already read this story but I continued and I hope to read the next installment! Cj really cared for his wife(Dani) and nothing,no one or the secret was going to keep him away!Worth more than five stars because CJ didn't give up,but he gave her a width berth for awhile.Because they both had a heart of gold,they didn't think of them selves but worry about each other.

Taking His Heart got me out of my reading slump - exactly like every other Kylie book does! I was sick and knew I needed a quick read to get my back into reading and I finished this in under 24 hours. I didn’t want to put it down, I was locked in and wanted to finally read about CJ and Daniella. We have been getting hints about them in the previous books and I was happy to finally read their happily ever after.
CJ would jump in front of a bullet for her, even though he claims he hates her. They both love each other but think they don’t deserve it. We go on a journey of healing and accepting and not only fall in love with our main characters but also side characters! 🤍 I can only recommend this series, as they also hit the spot!

Another amazing story. I’ve said once, I’ve said it a millions times, Kylie Kents book are pure addiction. As soon as I’m done I want another one right away. I can never get enough. It’s just bangers after bangers after bangers (maybe a pun intended there 🤣)
This specific book follows CJ and Daniella. I adored CJ character, he would do anything for Daniella, even after she broke his heart. I get where she was coming from but at times Daniella had me so frustrated.
They both fought and in the end it ended just as it was suppose to. This book had an awesome story? Great side characters, LOL moments, some danger and of course some yummy 🔥🔥🔥

Kylie did it again. There was never a doubt in my mind that she would. CJ and Daniella are so good together, and I absolutely loved seeing the DeBellis crew. CJ and Daniella have a history but Daniella has some secret fears that get in her own way. Daniella’s fears are warranted, especially in their world. CJ loves her though, and you can feel it through the pages. You can feel both their love. No third act breakup here. I read this book in a day. I love everything Kylie writes.

Loved this book!! Just wasn’t really a fan of Dani and cj’s mom. Don’t get me wrong I loved Antonia and Carlos book but she really annoyed me in this book. I was like 😒🙄 for all the scenes she was in. Dani to with her reasoning and secret. She just kept repeating the same thing over and over. She was also playing with cjs feelings too much 😭 but I loved cj. He was the best just like every other mmc from Kylie Kent!! 🩵

I want to know what is going on with Faith and Elias? I know at this time they don’t have a book scheduled but this would make an excellent book.

Awww that was a great read, I really love all the books by Kylie, I'm going to read them all again over the winter months.
This was a bit unusual, with lots going on... definitely a great story.

This is the fifth book in the Owning Vegas 2nd Gen series. Daniella and CJ fight an uphill battle in their journey to their hea. Lots of drama, twists and a bit of danger. Very well written.
