BEYOND THE WALL

Rate this book
Northern Ireland, 1973. A family torn between the violence outside and the secrets within.

In a divided country where violence has become part of everyday life, the Rooney family struggles to hold onto hope behind the barricades of Creevy Park.

For young Molly Rooney, growing up means navigating a world of bomb scares, army patrols, and whispered secrets. Haunted by anxiety and burdened with things she cannot tell anyone, she finds herself drawn ever closer to the danger she is trying so desperately to escape.

At the heart of the family is Danny Rooney, charismatic, funny, and loved by everyone around him. But behind closed doors, he is fighting a private battle with alcohol that threatens to tear his family apart from the inside out. As his wife, Nancy, reaches her breaking point and tragedy strikes, the Rooneys must confront the choices, loyalties, and sacrifices that define life during The Troubles.

Set against the backdrop of 1970s Northern Ireland, Beyond the Wall is a powerful, deeply moving, and human story of family resilience, humour, and hope in extraordinary times.
